Complaint against Dr Arulvanan Nandan

This is to share my worst experience with Fortis.
My father had a small medical issue for which I took an appointment with Dr Arunvanan Nandan. When I reached his chamber he was busy chit chatting and laughing with his 2 female subordinates. Neither did he have the decency to ask the patient to sit and understand the issue nor was he polite with my family members.
He just saw the patient for a few minutes and asked us to follow...

I would like to inform you that, I am Bharat Bhushan, 42 years old male, residing at Delhi, India. I come from a poor family, I am married and have two daughters, I run my family with difficulty.

I had been working in Healthcare Sector since last more than 10 years in India.

Recently in December 2024, After completing all formalities, I have joined as an Employee in Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, My Employee ID: 1021117.

2-3 Months have been past to join me in FMRI. Since when, I have joined in FMRI, I have been facing many types discrimination.

In this NABH & JCI registered Hospital at (FMRI) my seniors Dr Jyoti Mishra, Medical Director has been doing unprofessional behaviour and they has been discriminating and harassing me since 2- 3 months. And ever since I have started protesting against this discrimination, my seniors MD /MS are threatening to fire me from the job, all these people are rich and I am poor.

One day on 18.02.2025, I had left the office on half day duty after informing my senior Dr.Shradha Ahluwalia DMS. Since then my HOD Dr. Shradha DMS has not put my duty in the roster. I don't know about my duty. I am not being told anything about my duty. Later my HOD will complain to me that Bharat Bhushan is on leave without informing me.

Being an employee in FMRI I am feeling very helpless.

So, I request you, kindly help me to save my job in FMRI. I will be grateful to you for the whole life.

Thanking you

Till now my problem remains the same.

In your system, some women of certain castes (Shivani Gupta, Sapna Sharma, Jyoti Mishra) discriminated against me and now they are making false allegations against me.

In your system, especially Shivani Gupta has misbehaved with me many times, but when I complained about Shivani Gupta, the management ignored my complaint. And your entire system is supporting these women. A month has passed, I am not being given duty and the management has suspended me for 1 month.

The Internal Inquiry Committee is also blackmailing me and telling me to leave the job.

Kindly take some necessary action on this matter.

Regards
Bharat Bhushan

No one in ECG room for past MULTIPLE minutes, at 430pm on Tuesday 17 December 2024.

Kiran Bala, nurse for Dr. Singhvi continued to repeatedly interrupt when we endeavored to answer her asked questions, inspite of our repeated polite requests to her to Cease and Desist from doing so. She was rude and offensive with elderly, handicapped/ disabled patients, and failed to even read simple English. She evidenced a Bad attitude and poor communication skills .

Rude and offensive technician Madhu Bala giving us a BUREAUCRATIC RUNAROUND, and demanded that Dr. Singhvi needs to execute it downstairs.

Dr. Singhvi assistant Mr. Kamal Sharma AND Ms. Shikha at counter 13 (1st floor at 430 pm) INSISTED that procedure HAS TO BE executed in Room 166, PRIOR to 5pm.

      Address: Fortis, Mohali

      Dear Sir,

Perhaps it will be worthwhile to investigate as to why patients seeking doctors appointments in the Fortis Hospitals are being given appointment dates and appointment timings based on whether cash is being given or whether the patient is being subsidised by some 'cashless' govt/insurance scheme or is from ECHS.

As an 99 year old ECHS patient at Fortis Mohali I was referred by the Neurologist Dr Sewal to the Rheumatologist Dr Abrol on 27 July. Unfortunately, Dr Abrol was on leave on 27 July.

On 28 July at 10:35 AM, I requested for an appointment on telephone (OPD Appointments) with Dr Abrol. One Mr Raj who was on duty, after confirming whether I was a ECHS patient or under any govt medical scheme, told me that since no slot was available, earliest that could be given was on 13 September!

Incidentally, these kind of 'appointment delays' are being attributed to 'heavy load'-- which is an excuse to provide 'cash paying' patients earlier priority.

But as per the 'myfortis app', I saw appointments for both, Dr Abrol and Dr Satbir Kaur (Rheumatology Dept, OPD), available on 29 July, for 'on line cash payment patients'. The Fortis Appointment desk had no answer to my complaint/querry.

Though I am an ECHS patient, I paid cash Rs 1250/- and got the appointment forthwith.

Obviously this is an unethical practice by Fortis Hospitals. Unfair and discriminatory. Whether paid by the patient or by his organisation, Fortis Hospitals are getting money for services rendered and are not providing any charity.

I am attaching all proof of the entire episode and I expect a logical and acceptable explanation from the Fortis heirarchy rather than the standard 'sorry for the incovinience, matter is being investigated'.

The behaviour of the staff is very rude. They dont even have the manner to talk to old people. Further, there is no network available in the hospital due to which many problems are faced, and the staff do not carr about guiding the new patients.
        They have the attitude problem
Also everyone is jyat sitting to grab the money
As compared to the fortis (shalimaar bagh)
i would rate 1* for Gurugram fortis
Ask your staff to treat good way woth patients and attendant.
We are the one who is paying for them not they
If we are visiting your hospital, paying for something, we need proper information
We are not here to listen the assistant’s crap
mentioning specifically the coordinator of chemo and radiation doctors.

Address: House no 179 sector 4 panchkula haryana 134112

I Dr. S. K. Dhir UHID no - 6827324 am on hemodialysis since 2017 at fortis mohali.
On 7/7/22 i underwent a double vessel CABG durgery at fortis under Dr T. S. Mahant that was successfull as far as the heart was concerned.
However Firstly, during my stay at fortis i suffered radial artery blockage by the staff who in the process of inserting radial line caused radial artery thrombosis. Secondly, i suffered ulnar nerve neuropathy at the hands of the untrained staff who in the process of securing i/v line damaged the ulnar nerve. Thirdly, i sufferred tibial neuropathy due to negligence of junior surgeons who operated upon the left leg for harvesting the saphenous vein graft, damaging the tibial nerve in the process.

Nevertheless, I was somehow trying to recover from the shock and trauma of CABG and the complications that were incurred by the negligent junior surgeons and inexperienced staff of fortis, that in March 2023 my left leg from which the saphenous graft was harvested started developing multiple non healing foot ulcers.

Thereafter i consulted Dr. Ravul Jindal for the same for which after reviewing both leg Arterial CT Angiogram he recommended left femoral angioplasty which included ballooning and stenting of the left femoral artery. The surgery was planned and after getting clearences and PAC i was operated under spinal anaesthesia on 8/5/2023. However during surgery Dr.Ravul Jindal, after attempting 3 times the access to the femoral artery was not successful. Then via the fistula left arm he reached the femoral artery but as it was calcified to an extent that no stent could be passed through it he was not able to do angioplasty. The result of which the operation was aborted and i was shifted to the ICU. My family was informed that as there was no space for insertion of the stents so we did "ballooning" of the femoral vessel and amputated the medial half of the left foot so as to remove the gangrenous part.

However, i am unable to understand that in such a situation when there is no space for stent to pass how can ballooning even be practically possible and if stenting had to be aborted, without any future vision, the whole foot was not amputated for which a prior consent was already taken and which could have resulted in a better prognosis as discussed with the doctor before surgery. Even after the aborted surgery no information was given regarding any future plan of action. Therefore as i was stable the next day i got myself discharged as there was no use of staying in the hospital. On discharge the fortis hospital charged me full package that included stent insertion. I argued that since the stent were not used the cost of surgery should be revised to which Dr.Ravul Jindal gave a lame explanation that we did balloonong of the femoral artery instead of stenting. The MD of fortis also said that we will not allow discharge unless you pay the dues even if the surgery has failed which was equivalent to forcible detention.

My argument is that firstly, we paid for stents and without any intimation how can the surgeon do ballooning and give an excuse for fleecing the same cost of surgery. Secondly, it shows sheer incompetence and lack of good will on the part of the surgeon as ballooning instead of improving would result in further intimal injury of the vessel resulting in aggravation of the ulcer formation of leg that resulted eventually. Thirdly, an artery through which even a thread cannot pass how can you claim to do ballooning.

When i followed up for the dressing of the left foot after a gap of one day. At the visit i was informed that the foot was not improving so we need to apply the VAC (vaccum assisted closure) suction apparatus machine on the amputated medial half of forefoot giving an assurance that it will recover the foot in 10 days. On applying VAC device just after 3 days the pain and the swelling started increasing in the lower leg. On follow up, i was informed that we need to amputate the leg below knee. Such is the incompetence of Dr.Ravul Jindal that he is not confident on his own treatment and keeps fleecing money from the patients on the grounds of inefficient treatments, amputating the limb step by step so that his targets can be met qith. This is how he and his team harassed a patient who himself is a doctor. And i am unable to even imagine how he would be harassing the general public who have no knowlege of medical line and can never think of raising a complaint against the brand of fortis hospitals.

Getting guidance from a senior faculty i went to a general surgeon who immediatly operated upon me with an above knee amputation under local anaesthesia as i was going into sepsis. And now after 6 months of amputation i am posting this article so that the way Dr.Ravul Jindal's inefficient treatmemt and professional incompetence led me to loose my leg, no other person falls into this trap of Dr. Ravul Jindal and fortis hospital. A below knee amputation got converted into an above knee amputation because of lack of appropriate treatment at the right time by the hands of Dr.Ravul Jindal and his money fleecing team.
Kindly look into the matter as any compensation given cannot bring my left limb back and now at the age of 72 years i have to lead a crippled life thanks to Dr Ravul Jindal and his excellant team. My concern is to expose out the true picture of Ravul Jindal and fortis hospital so that people reading this don't fall prey at their hands.
            Thanks and regards
            Dr. S. K. Dhir
