[Resolved] Hathway Cable & Datacom — hathway sent me a legal notice | |||
Hi, I used hathway internet 3 years back which is a prepaid connection. I requested to disconnect the service while i was shifting my house in jan 2016. However no response from hathway. I requested to shift the connection to newly shifted house later through phone on feb 2016. However as hathway is not available in new shifted place, there is no chance to shift the connection. So i requested to close the connection and they said ok. However i keep on receiving bills every month over email and every month i raised a support case over email and there was no reponse from them. Finally i got a message as below today: Legal notice has been sent to user xxxxxxxxx for hathway broadband a/c no.[protected] plz pay immediately rs6031.56 to avoid further legal action. For any query cont legal team [protected], [protected] Why should i pay the amount if i had not used the service at all. I complained to stop commection and it was the failure of hathway support to stop connection irrespective of multiple reminders to stop connection and hathway send the legal notice to me now?. I had proofs of all emails in my mail box which i had requested to stop the connection. I am not ready to pay amount as i had not used the service. Moreover my connection was prepaid. I am facing the issue from hathway. I was using the connection 2 years back, later i changed my house loaction and stopped hathway connection informing concerned peoples as well paying all outstanding bills. Also Asked them to collect modem. No one came to collect it.
Now, after 2 years they are calling me & sending me sms saying 'legal action will be taken as you have not submitted modem'.
This is clear case of harassment.

I am facing the same issue. Since last few weeks I got two mails regarding some legal issues to be taken within 15 days if modem and related other properties were not returned. I used hathway broadband one year ago(2018) in Bangalore. After a while I had to move out of Bangalore and I requested for a disconnection. But there were no further responses about that. I anyway had to forget about it and leave. Also I occasionally got calls/sms from hathway regarding offers and stuffs even if I had already disconnected. But I mostly ignored them because it was annoying. And one year later, I suddenly got an email strongly stating that they will take legal actions if their assets(modems, cables, etc.) are not returned within 15 days. And mean while, I am back to Bangalore for work(2019). And then I receive mail again stating 15 days deadline again. TI didnt have any idea was it real or fake. Then I googled for similar issues and found some forums discussing specifically about this problem, this site is one of them. Now I dont know what to do really. Should I call them and resolve or is this fake?

Lets fill "Class action" Lawsuit against them. Don't pay anything, just unite and file case against them in every state and then they will know our power.

Even I tried to email them back and I got below message. People don't worry. It is a big SCAM. They send email and don't won't receive email back. WOH...
Just don't forget the term "Class action Lawsuit", if they threatens you.

I am facing the same issue as everyone above. Regular calls and email harrasment. I just logged a new consumer complain on this site.
They dont close the connection and keep asking for renewal and money. Can anyone above help me how did you resolve this? Has anyone filed a "class action lawsuit"? I would like to add my details as well

I purchased plan of 6 months and i used service for 5 months. Due to professional reasons i shifted to Hyderabad.
Since in my area there is no Hathway internet available, i didnt renew connection.
When their customer care people called me atleast 25 times in last 2 months, every time i mentioned to deactivate connection. but they didnt listen and every time same subject call is received.
Now they send email with legal notice.
Not sure i will ever recommand Hathway to anyone in my circle.
If Hathway customer care is reading this, kindly take action on this.
