ICICI Bank — Stupid, useless and deceiving rewards program | |||||
I have been using ICICI bank account for more than 5 years. I held a titanium credit card from ICICI bank. 3 months ago, I redeemed my reward points to a TT bat (price is 100 rupees). Afterwards, I cancelled the card as I was moving abroad. After 2 days, my credit card had been cancelled. After 1 months, ICICI bank reactivated my credit card and added 110 due amount to that account. When I enquired with customer care executives, they said I had to pay for the shipping amount. I redeemed my reward points for a TT bat worth 100 rupees, and I have to pay 110 rupees to ICICI bank for shipping. How stupid it is. This is nothing short cheating. Customer care guys were very harsh in a reply to my email regarding the same. I think I will close my ICICI account and never suggest to my friends. Was this information helpful? | |||||

Below is the (stupid) reply I got from your another rep. He does not want to reverse the charges. Ok. I have no problem in paying 220 rupees. But, I will make sure that I will close all my ICICI accounts (holding for 6 years) very soon. I will start with the credit card. I will spread the awareness about your cheating atlest among my friends.

With effect from June 12, 2014, you will be charged with a Redemption Fee towards handling charges on every redemption request for reward points earned on your ICICI Bank Credit Card.
1. For Credit Card members on Hand-picked Rewards Scheme and ICICI Bank Rewards Scheme, a Redemption Facilitation Fee of Rs.99.00 with Service Tax of 12.36% will be levied for every redemption request.
2. For Credit Card members on PAYBACK Rewards Scheme:
For Catalogue based redemption on PAYBACK Rewards Scheme, a Redemption Facilitation Fee of Rs.99.00 with Service Tax of 12.36% will be levied on each redemption.
For Online and in-store redemption on PAYBACK Rewards Scheme, a Redemption Facilitation Fee of Rs.25.00 with Service Tax of 12.36% will be levied on each redemption on PAYBACK Partner Brands like www.bookmyshow.com and www.makemytrip.com and in-store partners like Big Bazaar and HPCL.
This Redemption Fee with Service Tax will be charged to your monthly Credit Card statement.
Hence we are unable to reverse the charges and your credit card outstanding amount is 235.50 DB as on statement date 08/11/2015
So kindly make the payment before the due date 26/11/2015 to avoid the financial charges
