Indian Railways — Complaint regarding levy of penalty despite having a valid ticket

Sirs,

On 20th august 2016, i had travelled by parasuram express (Train no.16650) from aluva to ferok on my way to my college. I was accompanied by my mother who was travelling to trichur by the same train. Our tickets bearing nos. B 00585543 and b[protected]Copies enclosed) were purchased by my mother from the ticket counter at aluva station.

Unfortunately, both the tickets remained in the custody of my mother who alighted at trichur station. On realising this mistake, my mother sent me a copy of the ticket to my mobile and i was left with only a soft copy of the ticket for my onward journey.

At shoranur station a tte had come to check our tickets and i had shown her the soft copy of the ticket on my mobile. Although i explained to her the actual situation and told her that i am a student proceeding to my college, she was insistent that i should produce the hard/physical copy of the ticket. As i was not in a position to produce the physical copy of the ticket she fined me for ticket-less travel and insisted on my paying up an amount of rs.350/-. Since i did not have ready cash, i had to draw the amount from the atm at kuttipuram and paid up the amount against receipt no. A q 0586888 (Copy enclosed). I also had to buy a fresh ticket for my onward journey from kuttipuram to ferok (Ticket no. B 20833333. – copy enclosed).

I request that this amount recovered from me by way of fine for ‘ticket-less travel’ (Despite my having the soft copy of a valid ticket) as well as the cost of the ticket from kuttipuram to ferok be refunded to me at the earliest. Further, i also request that the ttes be sensitised on the need for being a bit more considerate towards passengers.
