Indian Railways — Indian Railway NO REFUND for the PNR PNR [protected] | |
Dear Sir/madam, I booked the tickets for two passengers for travelling from Madurai to Chennai Train No 12668(Train Name: CHENNAI EXP starting from Nagarkoil via Madurai) for the travel date 20Jan2017. PNR number of the booking is [protected]. During 20-Jan-2017, the train suppose to run via Nagarkoil - Virudhunagar- Madurai- Tiruchy - Chennai, However due to riot in Madurai location Railway department diverted the train from Virudhunagar - Tiruchy - Chennai via alternate route and avoided Madurai location. Railway department intimated very late to us that the train has been cancelled Madurai route which led us to harrasment and delay in our further journey. We consulted railway authority in Madurai station with regard to the refund of the money for this train, and we were advised that as thetrain has been redirected hence full refund should be credited to your account automatically. I have not cancelled the ticket in Irctc website, as I was in the notion that the refund should be automatically credited to my account, as train was cancelled Madurai route. However, no refund was processed and thus I consulted IRCTC customer office on 7-Feb-2017 over emails. I was informed by IRCTC executive that no refund will be processed as tickets were not cancelled within 72 hours of the travel date. As TDR was not filed within 72 hours, case will not be forwarded to railways. I would request your assistance in this matter as firstly we were not informed well in advance of the train cancellation (via Madurai route) which harrassed us and our overall planned travel got disturbed. Further we had to book tickets for another mode of transport urgently leading to higher charges and incovenience. Secondly, as the train was cancelled we should get full refund of money and the refund cannot be stopped with the remarks that we dint cancel the tickets in the internet in IRCTC website within stipulated timeline of 72 hours. Its the responsibility of Raliway to refund full money in case the train has been cancelled/diverted and to guide the procedure in such cases to get the refund, if there are further timelines and formalities attached to it. Grateful for your assistance to get the full refund of money for the train which has been cancelled as detailed above. Was this information helpful? | |
