Indian Railways — non availability of concession to senior citizens | |
I was to book a seat in a sleeper class/3rd ac for my proposed journey but the charges for senior citizens and general quota are shown as one and the same. It means the bjp government has either withdrawn this facility provided to the senior citizens without any notice/notification/information or some mischief is being played by the railway officials/officers unauthorisedly to defame bjp government.in this regard i had submitted online three complaints vide id (1) [irctc #8666014], (2) [irctc #8690913] & (3) [irctc #8691334] but none seems to have been resolved. Even your system is showing that no such complaint. The system needs to be thoroughly re-checked and reforms are necessary for prompt and foolproof services. May i now expect that some suitable reply will be sent to me.? Was this information helpful? | |

Dear Customer,
Kindly note that the age for getting senior citizen concession for female is 58 and for male is 60 years and above. The concession is 40% (of base fare) for male senior citizen and 50 %( of base fare) for female senior citizen.

To this reply I again have filed another complaint vide ticket ID: [IRCTC #8707711] the contents of which are as under:
Sir,
Your reply and redressal of complaint system is vague. I have not raised any issue regarding age of senior citizens . I am aware of the age limitations and have crossed the minimum requirement. I also think that you have not gone through the contents of my complaint carefully and sent a mechanical reply to which I am not satisfied. My grievance is regarding
showing of ticket rates One and the Same for Senior Citizens and General when tried to book seat ONLINE and Not manual at the station.
Why don't you check the system/Website before replying?
Hope for an early and positive remedial action and suitable reply.
