[Resolved]  PVR Cinemas — Camera not allowed inside

Today my wife and I who are regular movie goers to PVR Director's cut Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, where tickets are Rs.2, 000 per person per show on a Sunday were rudely asked by the security staff not to enter with our Sony camera. They said it is against cinema theater rules as these rules are imposed by Govt of India blah blah...due to piracy issues. We tried to reason with these rude security staff that these days all phones have cameras and capable of high quality movie recordings - therefore if you are allowing phones inside, then why cant you allow a Sony Cybershot camera inside?

The security staff was rude and adamant and when we demanded to see the manager one Mr. Mittal stepped outside and spoke to us politely, to whom we explained our position that we were returning from a family function and my wife had the camera in her bag. Anyway, as the show was about to start, and we would have lost good part of our movie for which we had paid Rs.4, 000/- (copy attached). We handed over the camera to our bodyguard/PSO outside the theater.

I fail to understand how could PVR staff be so ignorant that somebody who is buying two tickets for Rs.4, 000/- to the most expensive movie theater PVR has in India - and that too every weekend, wouldnt be pirating movies from the screenshot cameras. Furthermore, these days pirated movies are freely downloadable from the internet and movie we were going to watch, i.e. TRANSFORMERS - THE LAST KNIGHT is in 3D therefore, it is not possible to use a normal cybershot camera to capture 3D images!!

I would like to register my protest and formal compliant against the rude behaviour of the staff of PVR Director's Cut (except the Manager Mr Mittal) and demand action against them. I would also like to know if there are any rules imposed by Indian Motion Pictures Association or other Govt agencies in Delhi/India prohibiting normal private cameras (non professional cameras) inside the movie theaters?
