[Resolved]  Royal Sundaram General Insurance — insurance amount rejected due to negligence in verification of previous insurance

Hi,

This is regarding a claim i have made on the vehicle/insurance mentioned below which is been rejected after cleared in the survey

The vehicle was surveyed for damages in an accident at modi hyundai, thane.

The surveyor had cleared all the related damages and after almost 10 days since then modi hyundai had updated the case with related documents and sent the expenses post completion or repairs.

After all the time spent since the insurance policy was purchased in month of may and even when the survey was registered, the company didn’t verified the policy for a missing confirmation for the no claim bonus offered from the last years policy.

As per general practice following are the defects in your system where it should have been tracked

1. While the policy was purchased on 23rd may, since all your systems are linked online
2. Period between 23rd may and 12th july to track the discrepancies
3. While the surveyor passed all the damages to be covered in insurance
4. While the documents were submitted by modi hyundai for the verification of the claim before the repairs were started

Instead all the process of the damage repair was allowed to be carried over and seems your insurance company was waiting for the last moment for bill to be settled from you end to announce the claim is not valid

All these delays and flaws in your system had made it clear it’s none of my mistake and business to accept a small fault in the online policy purchase which hardly differs by rs. 900 for the no claim bonus. Also am aware of the process where the company collects the difference if any within a period of 15 days from the customer after validating the policy with previous insurer. (I have already don’t his process now and awaiting for a response since 8 days now). I would have paid all the difference without any concerns if informed about it before. But seems such things are kept in safe as weapons to be used only when we claim for damages to void the policy benefits.

Had it been tracked on time the conditions would have differed. The bill is around rs. 36000.00 in which more than 60-70% is on behalf of insurance company. Had it been tracked even during the survey i would have denied getting the car repaired otherwise. The car itself is 8 years old and made no sense if not covered in insurance to be repaired in an authorized service center.

It’s was acceptable for me to take the burden of this and i had request to get it cleared from your end asap since it’s the entire insurance company fault. Wondering if any unusual event would have occurred to the me while the accident occurred the company would have behaved the same after publicizing so many promises.

However your company sent me a note of the rejection on my postal address received after 15 days and after multiple attempts to call the customer care all in vain, i paid the amount myself and took the charge on myself.

I would reiterate it was none of my fault for the delayed from your end to reconcile the policy with cholamandalam (Previous insures), so please give me a positive way and get me the amount cleared for the insurance now.
