I engaged urbanclap for house painting work. Exterior area 427 sq ft; interior area 86 sq ft; putty base to be applied over 131 sq ft. Areas are as per urbanclap in their quotation. See quotation below. For the topcoat, the quotation states: "type of paint:-ultima protek (Exterior) *type of paint for interior:-tractor emulsion."

Partway into the work, i discovered that urbanclap was cheating me on the exterior paint. Instead of protek ultima, which is asian paints' top and most expensive exterior paint, urbanclap applied the lower apex ultima. According to asian paints web site 1 below, protek has a 10-year warranty; apex is 7 years. Waterproofing yes for protek, no for apex. According to web site 2 below, protek price is rs 362/l; apex price is rs 219/l — a difference of 65%. The application of the two is also different with different base coats and surface preparation.
In addition, areas were left unpainted. See photo.
I offered urbanclap to re-do exterior painting following steps specified by the manufacturer asian paints, and this time, the work must be supervised by me. See whatsapp messages. Urbanclap declined to continue work.
I did not pay urbanclap for the exterior work. I have had to engage others to re-do the exteriors.
