[Resolved]  Airtel — Incorrect Billing

Dear All

This is my first month with Airtel and and i am sad to say that i am so dissatisfied with the broadband connection. while buying a new connection, they assured me that i would get the best of the services but now all i got is nothing but false promises.

Recently my Airtel connection was disconnected, to be accurate enough, it was disconnected on 27th February. I had called up the Airtel customer executive and she stated that i had exceeded my quota amount, although it was the same day i got the message that i had reached 100% of my free usage. The customer executive than said that my outstanding amount was 4000 Rs. I was shocked to hear this and i contacted the nodal office and the Appellate TN a couple of time but all were in vain. Nobody gives a proper explanation on the alert i had received from Airtel. It has now been 1 month and i have made a couple of calls and mails. Inbetween all these, i was called by Airtel customer executive and i was told that a waiver has been accepted and it is enough that i just pay 1500 Rs . trusting them, i paid them the amount. Today i received a call from the appellate stating that my outstanding amount is 6000 rs eventhough my connection was long ago deactivated

I advice everyone to stay away from Airtel broadband...

Dear Sir,

Frm last two billings, i hv been getting billed for SMSs which I hv never sent. Though I made the payment just to continue my number but I am not feeling well for paying almost 500 Rs without any reasons. This is hitting me financially & emotionally. Airtel — I am Not receiving my monthly bill since January 2008 except June 2008

We have a landline cum internet connection from Airtel. A few days back we got the bill for last month (billing cycle: 26 of every month). The bill amount was Rs. 19677 of which DSL usage charges are Rs. 17832. In the first place the bill amount is exorbitant. The bill amount has always been within Rs. 1000 always.
On top of it, we have been charged for downloading on 23, 24 And 25 January as well. But we were out of town from 23 Jan to 26 Jan. When i checked the unbilled amount for this month, it was Rs. 10205 for just 6 days (26 jan - 1 Feb) (Which cannot be)

I did contact Airtel customer service. They have given me a waiver of 50% on the DSL usage charges and made me opt for Unlimited Usage plan (26 Feb onwards). But that does not solve the problem because there is problem with the bill itself and the company is charging me incorrectly this month as well. When I said they have charged me for the days when I wasn't there, they refused to do anything in that case. They say they cannot do anything about next month's bill and i shall have to wait till I get the bill. (By then the bill amount would become much higher)

I want them to provide me the correct bill so that I can pay the actual amount. I also want them to check my bill for next month as well because already they charged a big sum there.

I was using a post paid connection with Airtel on my mobile phone. This was a corporate connection availed at the airtel kiosk in our company.

I was using this number in Chennai, Tamilnadu. I was transferred to Maharashtra in Oct 2008 by the company i work for and hence called Airtel customer care (in Oct 2008) to place the number in safe custody till my return.

Customer care replied that to place the number in safe custody I had to pay all outstanding amounts. I paid the same on the airtel website and the airtel person confirmed that my number will be placed in safe custody. After a week or two (in november 2008) i saw that my number was still not placed in safe custody and called airtel customer care again. This time I was informed that Safe Custody is not possible as the option is available only if I submitted a written request, in person, at the Chenai Airtel office. I obviously couldnt go to Chennai just to submit this letter.

So I decided to cancel my connection with airtel. I went to the airtel office (Airtel TCS) in Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra and spoke with one Ms. Shonali. I paid balance outstanding of Rs. 56/- (Rupees Fifty Six only) on Dec 20th 2008. I was told by Ms. Shonali that the monthly rental for my connection will be waived off since Airtel gave me wrong information about safe custody which further delayed the disconnection by one month.

Subsequently the connection was cancelled on 18th Dec 2008. I received a bill in Jan'09 asking me to pay the monthly rental charges of Rs. 499/- when the same was waived off by Shonali from Airtel. I was asked to call[protected] / [protected] for clarifications. I called the above numbers and got connected to a lady on the second number. I explained the entire problem and she promised to call me back in 2 days but it has been over 3 months and no one called back. Now I have received a legal notice from airtel for no fault of mine.

1. I was given wrong information on safe custody - no one called back to give me correct information.

2. disconnection process took over a month so Ms. Shonali put in a rental waiver request as the delay was not from my side.

3. Each and every payment from the time the connection was activated till disconnection was paid on time.

I am in no way at fault since I had contacted airtel several times requesting for disconnection and now i am being harassed with a legal notice.

I lodged a complaint with airtel customer care after being on the phone with them for over an hour and they promised i would get a call back from the billing team. No call yet. Its been over a month.

I am shocked that a company that boats of being one of the top players is stooping to such low levels and harrassing customers for no reason at all.

I did contact Airtel customer service. But they does not solve the problem.They refused to do anything in this case. They say they cannot do anything about bill.

Please provide me the correct amount so that I can pay it. for this please provide me right no. So that I can contact right person.

For the past 2 months, I having facing many issues with Airtel.

When I joined EMC, I gave my personal credit card for Auto-Debit. After a few months my bank replaced my credit card and I started paying for bills via online at Airtel website as Airtel did not have my updated credit card details.

Recently, I gave Reddy (Airtel rep) a photocopy of my American Express credit card and filled Auto Debit form again. I do not know how it happened, but Airtel charged 36000 on my personal credit card. Can you please find out from where did they get this credit card number?

Another query regarding my bill, I had an outstanding bill of Rs.40000. I paid Rs. 15000 online from Airtel Website. Now my outstanding was Rs. 25000. But Airtel charged my Rs. 36000. Please get in touch with Airtel and get an explanation on why did they charge Rs. 11000 more.

After the extra charge Airtel was reducing the money every bill and the last bill mentioned -8500/-. April-09 bill shows Rs1500/- charge and there is not acknowledgement of Rs8500/- which Airtel owed me.

I have two accounts with Airtel and I had requsted for a tariff plan change through as my connection is a corporate connection. I even got a reply stating that tariff has been changed for both the #'s, however which I noticed that only for one # the tariff has been changed and they were billing the other # with the old tariff. When I lodged a complaint with them after 15 days they came back stating that I sent a sms and not an e mail though I have emails and building some stories in the wrong usage of the word. They have charged an in correct amount.

I used Airtel mobile for almost 4 years. My billing plan was in advance rental. I renewed this plan on 2009. This tariff was not reflected in June 2009 bill and they reworked the bill on August 2009 after many complaints. They informed that they can revoke the late fee charges only after paying the reworked balance. I also paid the same. But they did not follow their words. These are documented in mail. They charged late fee for more than 10 months. Finally they disconnected the service even the advanced rental period was active.
They used to charge bills even after the disconnection and send persons to my home to collect the payment. I asked the person to give split up detail of the bill amount. But they failed to provide those details. I told I can pay the bills only for the actual amount except any late fee charges. They said they will come with the final settlement letter. But they never come back again.
Some new persons contacting from airtel and they are harrassing nowdays without knowing the billing errors. They are behaving like decent thieves. They do not do genuine business nowadays.

There are lot of mail communication between myself and airtel but nothing resolved the issue. They simply ignoring to provide the requested information to cover their mistake. This is a kind of modern robbery.

I have been a loyal custom for several years but am totally and utterly fedup with being billed too much for overseas calls. The rate is Rs10/ for a call to South africa but before one minute is up I am billed for the next. How long are Aitels minutes???

I have been using airtel number [protected]- this number is being used for quite a long time and I never had an issue related to billing system..though I was sometime bad in paying bills- with delay. Bad habit, but I was charged most of the time for my bads...no regret.. Now what I see before my eyes is unbelievable. I see bill that is generated worth INR 25k ? Do I see that correctly ? Yes I do. I am surprised...someone spoken to me from airtel couple of months back and said he would be activating 3G service on my number called flexishield ? Not sure what it was. He said that would cost me some 700 INR where I can avail 2gb data+unlimited 3G exp.....Was that guy from airtel was right ? He said my 3G billing would not breach 2000 INR in any condition......above all my credit limit is limited to 4400 INR. How come bill has crossed that too? Its all a pain n headache for me in simple words...and certainly a shocking change introduced by airtel for customers who are loyal and using their services for long time like me. in nutshell no one was able to solve the problem. An engineer from your company
also visited my house.
All of them seem to be blaming back end team of your organization.

Following are the people I have spoken to

I would like to know who is part of this backend team. Is this team
accountable to some one. If yes why is no action has been taken. Just to
remind of various issues which I have been facing


1) I have till now received three different bills with 3 different plans. I
just applied for 1 connection
2) The issue has been reported and it has been more than 25+ days, and no
action has been taken.
3) for past 3 weeks internet is not working at my home and no one is looking
into it.
4) I have visited your customer service center on 100ft road, Indira Nagar, and
your Manager Mr Andrew is well aware of my problem, still he is unable to help
me and no one with higher authority is helping him to solve it.

Following are the immediate actions which I want from your side

1) ReleaseUnblock my internet line so that my daily work doesn't get affected.
2) Please send a installation engineer at my home to make sure that problem is
fixed and net is working.
3) Since I am unable to use your service for this month, please dont bill me
for this period.

Hi,

I own Airtel landline with broadband and had requested for change of broadband plan.
Airtel was able to change the plan only in the month of November 2011 where as they started charging me for the new plan from September 2011 itself.

When I contacted Airtel customer care they say that as per system the plan migration was done in September, where as it was not.

I was able to get Airtel technician to fix the problem at Airtel's network in November

I need help in making sure Airtel corrects the same and gets back to me

I have an Airtel Broadband connection([protected]) at my home. I'm enrolled in Rs.1299 plan which entails 2mbps till 25GB and 512kbps afterwards. Last month, within 3 days of billing period, I was informed that the 25GB limit has been crossed although I didn't download that. I checked the bill detail online and found that the usage was in bursts of approx 3GB in an hour which is actually impossible at 2mbps. I called the Airtel customer care and explained them the situation. Even after repeatedly explaining them how this much usage was impossible, they kept on insisting that i made the usage and I must buy more to get better speeds. I even escalated the matter several times but they all said that they could do anything in the matter. When I checked later, the bill detail was removed from the website. And now, somehow they have charged me more this month for no reason.

Now, this month's billing cycle started on 8th Jan and again the same thing has happened. I got an email/sms alert telling me that my quota of 25 GB is over. I am really frustrated with this. Please help.

My parents have had Airtel connection for many years now. Their monthly bill never exceeded Rs.500 per month. Couple of months ago, they received a bill of Rs. 5000. When asked, they said the applications used on the phone have been charged to my parent.

When told that my parent do not have an internet connection, they just ignored it. My parents gave them in writing that this bill is disputed but Airtel refused to accept the letter. They have been abusive, high-handed and just plain nonchalant about treating their 5 year old customer.

We even paid 2,000 rupees to close the matter. The customer guy told us that the accnt is closed and we can cut and throw away the SIM cards. Later we saw the prank - the receipt does not say "accnt closure". Now they have started harassing my relatives (which I believe is illegal) asking for our new numbers.

Never knew Airtel could be such a horrible hair-raising, eyebrow raising experience!
