[Resolved]  Dell Inspiron 1525 — Plugged in, not charging

Yes, like everyone else, i was dupped by the dell (Yet again) i was not happy with my desk top from a few years back and i should have not repeated the same mistake, ordering from dell again! So, i am partially to blame! But i was in a bind and had to purchase a laptop fast and didn't have neither the time nor the resources to consider another alternative (Or at least a little more educated before making a costly commitment like this)!
Anyway, the problem with this "expensive piece of junk" is what plenty other people have noted: right after i ran out of warranty, the battery (Which was noit fully charging before) depleated to 85% (Even plugged in) and from 85 to 50% and soon after i am looking at 29% and it is going down 1% everyday. Again, please bare in mind that the computer is always plugged in and never on without external power.
I am so concerned and don't know what to do, as i have heard the replacement batteris are mostly refurbished and do the same thing after couple of months! So, that means even if i buy another battery, there is no guarantee that is going to last me any more than couple of months. Plus with today's economy, i can not effort buying a "new" batthery and pay for installation and check run, etc.. Etc.
So, please take this as a complain, from a very frustrated dell consumer or venting and my little way of expressing my huge disappointment with dell (With their hurrible india -based customer support) and if nothing can be done about my problem, at least someone could be saved from making the biggest mistake of their life: buying a dell notebook! Or dell of anykind!

I have had the same issue Bought the dell Inspiron 1525 pos in sept 08 and within 3 month motherboard went bad. Surprisingly they replaced it, less then a year after that the battery stopped charging. I was told that if you leave the battery in and the power cord in its constantly charging which reduces the life of your battery. That may be true but in this case its BS. I forgot to mention when i had a new motherboard install they also gave me a new adapter. I recently purchased a new battery thinking i had a bad one and nope that wasnt it, it still say not charging which means it another bad motherboard this is the worst computer company i will never buy from them again. i also had to replace the ccfl bulb that wasnt fun. I think ill stick to my custom desktops.
same here, i bought my dell inspiron 1545 in june 2009, immediately the warranty expired, it say plugged in not charging. what exactly is wrong, is it the battery or charging system.
I have Dell inspiron 1525 ...i am coming across with same messg for battery plugged in not this a strategy to sell laptops and their batteries...very short term benefit will lead them to long term loss...a single person can stop others from purchasing inefficient and over priced product...join hands to fight for common cause and make the people aware to file complaint against this ...Dell Consumer
i have this problem with mine to dell inspiron 1525 and i paid more then £500 for this laptop now i wonder why dell wont response in a proper way such a shame :(
i have the same problem with my laptop battery. İNDİA GOA MARGOA service sucks. first i had screen problem i took it to the dell service and they screwed my screen with visible hairs in my screen they told me to pay 16000 for extended waranty and after they told me to replace the screen they took all most 2 weeks. so i took ıt to our local known shop and wow wıthın 3 days the laptop is back with only video İC replaced. the body near the lights is cracked. and now battery problem it last only 10 minutes the dell service is asking 7000rs for the battery in goa looks like Dell is dumping junk stuff in the market.
i guess as it comes under consumer handling. normal dell usage: 18-24 months battery life.. the more u use the battery goes dead soon.. NEW battery is only sollution. if i am wrong please let me know ur sollution
i also have same problem in dell inspiron 1545 battery. when i plugged in my laptop and start window then
after booting i have some message on my screen like this : - the ac power adapter wattage & type can not be determine.
the battery may not charge.
the system will adjust the performance to match yhe power available.
please connect a DELL 65w AC adapter or greater for best system performance.
To resolve the problem, try to reseat the power adapter.

now anyone tell me on [protected] what can i do. is battery in warrenty?
I have Inspiron 1525. I am also facing the same problem battery not charging. Now date and time also lagging behind.
SOLUTION...what I did is to access to the setup, search for an option saying something like... "display alerts for adapters..." or something... I really don't remember the exaclty menu but it did work, when I disabled this option, my battery charged without troubles, try it and let me know if worked for you. I hope this work for u too.

Mine is a EEePC and mine does not do that, I think it's the OS I am using.

It happens in other companys, maybe other OS's (I do not think Windows XP), and other parts of the world.

I disagree on it only being the DELL, and it could be other OS's, and other parts of the world.

The set is defective since new as soon as it is checked for operation. it was not checked by dealer's shop as they told no technical man was there. SYSTEM IS SLOW, CD IS NOT READING.

Hi, My name is Ankur Gandhi and I have purchased Dell Studio 1555 before 9 to 10 months in 48000 Rs. Now the problem is my laptop having DVD problem. Problem is when I insert any dvd it starts to read DVD and one progress bar starts in my computer window address bar and after waiting 10 to 15 minutes it not read that dvd and hang my PC. If I want to eject DVD then I must have restart my laptop. I have sent my laptop to 5 to 6 times to dell service center in Ahmadabad, Every time service center took it for two to four days and give my laptop to me and telling me that DVD is working now, We have replaced DVD drive etc etc... Some days my DVD working good and after 10 to 15 days again same problem occurs, this problem happened with my laptop for 5 to 6 times and eventide I sent it to service center and every time they took it for 3 to 4 days and then give it to me by saying that problem is solved but after some days I got same problem again.
Last time when I gave laptop to service center they work on my laptop for 10 to 12 days, I don't know what they have done with it, But now again I am getting this problem and my dvd is not working again.
Last time when I went to take my laptop I asked service center executive that what is the problem with it? he told me that this is the major problem with Dell Studio 1555 laptop, So I asked So what to do with it? He told me that when you get problem bring laptop to us.we will make it work. I asked that you will do this till laptop warranty period but what after warranty period? So he told me that Extend warranty. That means If I want to use this laptop then I will do two things in future, Extend warranty and Go to service center.
Now second problem they crack my power button cover for laptop and when I told them they told me that come after 15 days etc etc..
This is my problem So what should I do now? I have complete cover warranty for my laptop for which I have paid 1000Rs extra.

Please help me.Can any one tell me what can I do.
DELL should replace the defective Laptop with new one immediately without harassing the customer who purchased it at Rs 49920

I have purchased smile last year from Delhi najafgarh show room, it battery not working Many time I called and complainted but no action taken so far

Dell Inspiron Laptop 1545 — Warranty purchased on 11.08.10 but no action taken till 21.07.10

I had purchased a complete care warranty on 11.08.10 (via order acknowledgement number[protected] for Rs. 7560, because my laptop is out of order and got a mail on the same day from Dell that an engineer would be visiting me within next two working days but nothing is done till date in spite of repeated complains via mails and phone calls. When on 19.08.10 I spoke about going legal my mail was replied for the first time stating that an engineer would be visiting me soon. I spoke and mailed to the manager as well but nothing worked.

I request you to please look into the matter and ask the company to compensate me for the loss in my studies because of which I scored low in my MBA presentation (Rs. 10,000) and the mental torture which I went through (Rs. 20,000). I have all the copies of mail which I had sent and can produce them anywhere on demand.

Dell Inspiron 560s Desktop — Unable to upload another new OS

This is with referance to Purchase of "Dell Inspirion 560s Desktop" through "Invoice No.00399148 Dated:26/01/10

I wanted to install new OS of Xp service pac 2 because there are some application which are not supporting to window 7 home basic, as i install another OS at the time booting it not showing two option XP get directly started so for window i have again install the window 7 so pls help me in installing the another OS or arrange an Engineer for the same.
