dell direct purchase- after sales issues of retail customers
Hi techsavy friends if you are looking for a new laptop purchase my sincere advice is dont go for dell. I had a studio 14 laptop purchased direct from dell. I paid money through my credit card some where around first week or so in march 2009. After instant payment through mobile phone on the day of finalising quotation i was told i would receive laptop in 7 to 10 working days. But it was not the case. I had to talk to that sales rep Mr.Awanesh singh several times over phone. At some point of time i had to end up registering my voice in voice mail box. After 20 to 23 days on 1st of april2009 i received the laptop through courier. But i had ordered a midnight blue color laptop and received a black one. I again called that sales person and he promised to replace the cover in few days but nothing happened like that. In the mean while i could not get him over phone during office time. Then i called customer care department and scolded then they gave his superviser Mr.Clint carvallo no. again i called that guy and told every thing and as usual he promised to solve. But even after few weeks it was not done. Every time i make a call from my mobile or land line it would end up in voice mail box. I got irritated and again i called customer care and they gave his higher officer Mr.NikunjMurukutla no. That person tried to solve my problem and again few weeks lapsed and finally he came up with a solution of replacing the laptop. Again for few weeks only calls and mails sent with poor progress. Again the 2nd level higher officer arranged for return documents from customer care department in the 3rd week of june. I am still waiting to return this piece and i dont know how long this would take to complete. In between i fed up and asked these people to give 9 cell battery or a graphics card for the excess money i paid for color panel but except dell warranty they refused to give anything. Now i regret buying a laptop from dell that too dell direct purchase. Worse is if something serious happens in the laptop how could these people respond fast. We have to wait for weeks together for rectification. What i suggest is don't buy anything direct from dell. once you finalize your payment and you wont be given proper reply and don't even bother these people to inform the customer about delay. In india these multinational companies like dell mint money(costly price in india if you compare with US ) and give poor service. If my grievance delays further i have decided to go to consumer court to sue these people not for extra money but to give lesson not to repeat the same to another customer. I request others who have after sales issues with dell, please share your experience here so that retail customers like us are the most exploited by these multinational companies and let others to know about this. E commerce in india wont pickup because of issues like this. This is my first online purchase which is a blunder mistake. Visiting a show room and talking face to face to a person who sold you some thing is better to solve any after sale issue. The same Dell in US or western countries would have promptly returned or solved the issue in time. Here our indian employees of dell are loyal to their multinational employer forgetting business ethics and consumer rights and they treat retail customers as a lesser citizens and care only corporate customers.

Dell Laptop — After sales issues

HI.
after try to solve my problems and ennumbers of request to solve my problems my issue is not solved with Dell co .
i purchased a dell lap top in Jan . which thy delivered late i agreed .and thy gave me complsations for the same.
after some time my laptop started giving problems . i reported the same to dell customers care they asked to contact dell tech team i did the same they promised me a cal back which i never recevied . i have problems with my laptop
1: speakres give cracking sound
2: CDs dont work in my laptop .
3: they gave me bluetooth headset which is not working
4: laptop body is loosen which m trying to fix .for a long time .
5: on my laptop right hand top there are craches forming
6: laptop dose not close tightly

i paid them full amount at once ..it not even in inltallements then why should get such a terible service .
not even responce to issues . they trying to ignore .. i watned my laptop to be replaced ...

i bought a dell laptop inprision 1545 in july . now it is not working my lot of work is pending . i many time call in custmer care but they are not sovled my problem. please imegatly repair my laptop. i have all document related to laptop

I am having a harrowing time myself.

CASE HISTORY:

• I chose to Buy a Laptop Dell XPS 1645 from Dell in the 11th of Nov with the delivery date as 1st Dec.

• On the 28th of Nov this was arbitrarily cancelled and on the 1st of Dec the delivery date was updated to 9th of Dec.

• Today on the 8th of Dec they arbitrarily chose to extend this to the 21st of Dec.

Going by the above stated facts it is clear that I have made a grave mistake trying to associate myself with Dell. Also it seems the customer doesn’t exist for them because nobody has contacted me and told me the reasons to the delay or even asked for my consent if I am fine with this delay in the first place.

This is the second revision in delivery date being made for the Laptop, ie, they are unable to honour their own ‘revised completion’ date that they themselves chose in the first place. I’m thought this is an aberration as such slackness does not augur well for a company of this stature and will definitely do them no good but this clearly shows their slack work ethics.

I am scared to buy this product because of the fact that they are unable to deliver it in the first place therefore, lord forbid, but if the laptop develops problems then, they would take years to get it rectified.

I placed the order on the 11th of Nov and they are now suggesting to deliver it on the 21st of Dec. It is preposterous to deliver a gadget/product in 40 days from the date of booking, this clearly shows that they do not know what they offer in the first place.

I have not asked for anything fancy, as i simply chose the default configuration they had on offer, still they are finding it difficult to honour their commitment, this is extremely sad state of affairs.

I want the delivery of the laptop asap or they should return my money along with interest as they have unnecessarily charged me without themselves knowing when they can honour their commitment of delivering a laptop.

Dell executives are also exceptionally unfriendly and unhelpful. When i brought this to their notice they simply said parts are not available
It is shameful for a company to give such a reply, and my misfortune that i am buying a laptop from them. My neighbourhood electrician/mechanic or computer guy would never dare to say that ‘the parts are not available’ after taking the order and money, because of fear of losing business, somehow they seem to be confident of their company’s conning tactics.

If they didnt have the requisite inventory then why did they accept my order in the first place?
I am buying a Dell Laptop for the sheer joy of getting good service and here they are unable to even deliver the laptop besides, taking no interest whatsoever in my case.

40 days( with a 20 day delay) for a laptop to be delivered is completely unacceptable, i am sorry that i dared to buy a device from dell, and will make sure nobody in my neighbourhood goes through this ordeal again

Dell XPS 1645 — Poor Customer Service

I have purchased a Dell XPS 1645 laptop but after 1 year, I am facing problem with my optical DVD drive. Now after I requested the customer care regarding the same, it was replaced within 48 hours. But after replacement, another problem arose and it was that my optical buttons(touch) were not working after the DELL engineer replaced the optical drive. I have sent innumerable mails to Dell regarding the same but to no good. I tried calling them up, but still there would be no response from their side.

DELL — not solving problem

My laptop is is not working.I complain to dell customer care, but they are not listening as warranty has expired.
I am ready to pay the money for the repairment they are not ready.

sir i am basavaraju.m,g,i taken one lap top dell vastro 1540 laptop,the problem will is that automatically shut down and this is 2nd time will occurring this problem.i gave servicing from last 40days.and the problem will again same.and the laptop is not an indian model,this is an import product.

Dell — pc not working since bought

after running for a few minutes the sound gets muffled and the system hangs up tried registring through toll free no a couple of times but always failed to connect v disappointed

    Plugged in, not charging

    Yes, like everyone else, i was dupped by the dell (Yet again) i was not happy with my desk top from a few years back and i should have not repeated the same mistake, ordering from dell again! So, i am partially to blame! But i was in a bind and had to purchase a laptop fast and didn't have neither the time nor the resources to consider another alternative (Or at least a little more educated before making a costly commitment like this)!...

    I purchased a Dell Vostro 1510 of service or warranty tag number 2GLZ1BS Laptop from CONTEC SYSTEM H.O108, Sahyog Building, 58 / B.O104-A, Manjusha Building, 57 Nehru Place on 1st of January 2009. But the day I purchased this laptop I had facing so many problem .On 2nd of January 16, 2009 when I was trying to install window XP, CD was not booted at that moment of time . I asked dealer to replace the laptop but he was not agree to replace the laptop, then he(dealer) lock a call on 4th January 2009 with complain number[protected] at Bangalore to repair my set but he did not replace the set . On the 5th January 2009 DELL service engineer came at my home .He replace my DVD writer with another DVD writer but he did not install my operating system because of certain DELL company policy . At that moment of time only CD was booted but operating system was not installed . But when operating system was installed, its touch pad was not working .This create another problem. On 8th January I had given a mail to dell servicing id with Support Request - 2GLZ1BS - Vostro Notebook 1510 - Case #:[protected]KMM6670893I23241L0KM). They had given me a mail of some diagnosis steps but the problem was not resolved by those diagnosis steps. On 13th January I lock a call for touch pad problem with complain number 1873636 & service no. [protected]. DELL service engineer came at 16 Jan 2009 but he could not resolve my problem .After few weeks they send their service engineer at my office and he replaced motherboard of laptop then within a week laptop again creating problem. When I had given no. of time remainder about consumer court, DELL would agree to replace my set. But this time DELL was not ready to replace my set at my home site. I purchased DELL laptop because they would give home site service instead of that they told me to submit your laptop at IRIS Computers Ltd A-155, Mahipalpur, Road No 4, New Delhi who is the main dealer of DELL laptop. Actually my dealer Mr. Agarwal from CONTEC SYSTEM H.O108, Sahyog Building, 58 / B.O104-A, Manjusha Building, 57 Nehru Place purchased this set from IRIS Computers Ltd A-155, Mahipalpur New Delhi.As per the information I submitted my laptop at IRIS Computers Ltd A-155, Mahipalpur, Road No 4, New Delhi. On 31 March 2009 I got the replacement of my set at iris computer. They handover a carton which includes everything but my carry bag, 2 GB RAM & a modem is missing which I had handover to dealer with the defective set .For your information i would like to attached the file of handover document and other mails .Till now they had not given the carry bag, 2 GB RAM and dialup modem. Kindly help me because I am already lost 50000 Rs in this process & not very much aware about consumer court. If you could proceed some consumer court action against him then it could be helpful for me.

    Dell/Laptop — fraud by dell

    I would like to inform you about my complain. i bought a laptop DELL-INSPIRON(FNCK5BS) on 21th july 2010 from deeler and from the starting period of purchasing, my system was not well so i went to deeler but he just formet my system and asked me it is ok. but system was not perform well i again contect to deeler but he not take any action then i directly contect to compeny



    And after long time they listen my complain because i gave warning of company that i will go in consumer forum thne after long time (5th february -30th june) they give me service and asked me that they resolve my problem after warentee period but now they asked me that without extention of warentee they have not give any service



    I was fully doubet that this system was replaced system so from starting of my complain i have only single deemond that please provied me a new system but compeny insoure me that this system was new by give me a mail which was attached in this complain while compeny inform me at frist point of contect that this was replaced system



    so i am very upset ,compeny not provied me fardher service they not fullfill their promice you people suggest me what was right step that due to this i shortout my problem

      Sir,
      I ordered Dell Inspiron 15.6 laptop on 26 th of May and Mr.Awaneesh singh, Inside sales account manager of banglore sent me an e-mail which offering me a Targus carrying case and a Creative head phone along with the laptop with free of cost. But they haven't sent these things execept the laptop. This is absolutely cheating. Still I am wating for Targus carring case and creative head phone. If they are not ready to send i will put this infront of consumer disputes redressal forum with the solid proof.

        from the first day i keep backup with me, Today your engineer from Wipro visited at sife
        replace the Hard drive which was dilivered by you on todayitself, after replacement he found same problems. How he says might bt its Mother Board issed.

        Sir, from last 15 days i am follw for for this issue I have loss more then peurchase cost on
        of the systm. Please let us know are your able to solve the issue otherwise please replace the system

        now its hight to follow up this issue, I did not get any reply from you and your engineer after handover all probles to his hand

        and please let me know 1st time you assign this job to engineer of TVS-E now engineer come from WIPRO every this issue start from new engineer from ABC

        sir its an case of very serious matter, pls sir take this seriously .I hve purchase an laptop of dell inspiron15 on the date 29 march 2011 from city bhopal, state madhya pradesh(india.) from the shop named popular tech computer which is the branch of amk computer and peripherals, this shop is very famous in bhopal.The matter is that i hve purchase on the date 29 march 2011 but when i put service tag of this laptop on dell care service site this showing that this laptop parts already get replaced two time on the date 25 dec 2010 and i hve purchase this on 29 march 2011, and this case goes more in critical condition when i called to dell care today they told me that this laptop which has service tag this is of person named danish ali khan which is from karachi, pakistan.it shocked me a alot .sir they totally done fraud to me.they gave me an old laptop, I hve faith in ur company very much and i always tell my friends to purchase only dell laptops because ther service is very good, i hve no idea what to do either i hve to go consumer forum or report to police of that case but doing that is not a better option so i hve done faith on u to handle this matter seriously and do something in that case as soon as possible, I want an new laptop.

          My self KPsharma is in corporate world and working from last 15years and very sorry to say that CIBIL have given some wrong information to all banks about my credit history without sharing with me and CIBIl have just taken bank, s opionion and have taken decision of blocking my all credit details which is hindering in getting loan tec. As a good citizen i always paid back to banks other than few occasions when i am away from India or on business trip.

            Dear Sir,

            I have the following issues with Dell India Pvt Ltd. A company like Dell took 24 days to deliver, after booking the order and taking full payment of Rs.55, 627/- from me. Is it justified to take full payment of a large sum as mentioned above, while knowing that the goods can not be delivered within a reasonable time? Who should be held responsible for interest for the intervening period? In such a situation who is the suffere the poor consumer or the company which has unfair policies heavily skewed in its favour. Are these not tentamount to unfair, unethical and restrictive trade practices? Who should be held responsible for the mental agony we suffered on account of this?
            There was a Price Defference for Rs. 5000/- approx. on the dates of booking the order and the date of actual delivery. On the date of actual delivery the price in fact was less around Rs. 5000/-, will your company refund this amount to me besides other loss and damages.
            Through this complaint I demand the refund of Rs. 5000/- and claim Rs.10, 000/-for the mental agony, other loss and damages.
            I shall be eagerly waiting for a reply from the company.

            I have some issues against this company.
            I do not agree with the above, every companies policy differs in their own way, like if you were to order a Tata Nano today you would receive it after 5months! .. Now is that a company policy or Unfair Practice? Of course not. Its just the time it will take since there are a number of things involved. Same goes with your dell that you ordered, dell machines (if im not wrong) are also custom built, unless you were to get a computer from the Dell Store directly. And im sure there is an agreement in the company policy which reflects that you agree to the estimate time frame in which the product would be delivered. And you would have accepted that by opening the computer box. So what I believe is sorting a compensation might not work out.
            Note: I don’t own a dell nor am I representing dell.

            I regret to say that I had informed to you on telephone that I have purchased a laptop bill No- 29, dated 29/08/08. Service Tag 5NH32BS. .

            When I was doing my work on laptop dated 25/5/09, suddenly I found that there was a black spot on the right side of LCD, then dated 26/6/09. I have lodged a complaint No- 2144011, to you by telephone.

            Your tech had visited at my site dated 28/5/09 he checked the system and demand money for rectification the same when I refused to pay the amount . He pressed the black spot for testing and became wide defect/fault, due to bad checking of your technician

              I have bought a new Dell desktop computer on 27th March 2009, which has developed problem within a month of purchase. The request for support service was registered with DELL on 28th April and a technician visited on 2nd May. He was not able to rectify the problem fully that day and promised me to return on 5th May for further action after discussing the problem with company. After this I haven't heard from them. I have tried to contact them again for follow up but they gave some on-line suggestion which didn't work. When I conveyed this to Dell and requested to send a technician, they have stopped replying my mails, though as per the service document (part of the purchase package) they are supposed to response witjin 24 hours.               In such a case it is advisable to escalate the matter at once. Dell has escalation procedure and you can ask supervisor on shift, also please see that India Dell support has a habit of taking people "for granted" with typical attitude, hence please escalate the matter.

              Since the system is within warranty they will surely fix it, provided you get on top of their head.

              DELL — fading of colour of studio 1435

              i am pragyan, an engineering student from orissa.i have purchased a dell studio 1435 laptop on 3rd march, 2009.i have paid Rs50000 for it . its colour was flamingo pink.but to my surprise its colour is fadig from all the corners.i talked to concerned dealer but he suggested me to talk to dell.when i tell about my problem, dell help center suggested me again to pay Rs8450 to repair it.its not convenient for me again to pay Rs8450, after paying Rs50, 000 only four months ago.please help me in this regard.i want my laptop to be fixed.service tax no of my laptop is 1X1W2BS.i am attaching photos of my laptop.

                my dell inspiron 1525 laptop (service tag: 9C4J1BS ) is just 1 month out of its warranty period.nd 1 day the battery was drained out completely.after that when i tried to charge it, the charge got stagnated to 23% and did not charge beyond it(always showed plugged in, not charging). 2 days ago, it suddenly showed 100% battery, and a few hours after that, the laptop doesnot start without the charger on( the red led dat indicates "no battery" glows!!) its hard to believe that dell, which is soo reputed for the battery life of the computers could provide such cheap batteries which die out within 1 month of the warranty period getting over!!! (there is no problem with the adapter, coz the problem persists even with a different adapter). I am studyin in IIT Kharagpur, but cant afford much-I have obtained loan for the laptop+i have also taken an educational loan. I thought dell would not disappoint me.but it seems i was terribly wrong!!!
                yes i have the same problem my Inspiron 1525's warranty has been expired in April and now my battery is not charging from 15 days (i.e from the middle of may ) and now iam not able to know what to do as the battery costs around 3500... is there any alternate pls let me know...

I've experienced the same, just after couple of years after completing one year with the laptop.. the laptop battery died off and not charging...same problem the orange light keeps glowing and the Dell support executive told me the battery has to be replaced... and wrote me a mail with a Quotation of 6, 999... godamm.. dont understand why i should be paying so much still being unsure whether the battery would last another year... the executive was also proud in letting me know that "Batteries and other consumables are not covered under warranty"...
                I also have a Inspiron 1525. My 1 year warranty period is over just 4 months back. My battery (9 cell) started to give trouble from last two weeks. Last week, My Laptop is not charging beyond 70% and everyday this % is decreasing. Today, this % has come down to 54%. At this rate, within 2-3 weeks, my battery will die out completely. Its frustrating when such things happen when warranty just expires.

                  This is abhishek kumar.let i was complained regarding the laptop charging and related to the pointer but there is no respose came uptill now so pls see the problems .again the subject is that when AC adapter put into charging, the AC adapter becomes too hot in a few minutes then after the pointer is not working that is the picture minimization and maximization takes place automatically.

                    This is to inform you as under:-

                    1. That a Laptop “Dell Inspiron 1545, Blue, 3GB, 320 GB, Vista Premium” was purchased by me on 23/04/2009 for Rs. 42500/- vide Invoice NO. LT/S/09-10/S1/147 Book No. 3 Dt. 23/04/2009 from your Exclusive Show Room at NOIDA
                    2. That since I was not satisfied with the laptop I requested your showroom people to return it and give me credit voucher as is permissible as per Dell’s Return Policy-India, 2002 as published on your website. They point blankly refused to listen to me and referred me to Your official Sh. Sandeep Narula.
                    3. I contacted Sh. Narula and explained him the facts, who assured me to reply shortly. However inspite of more than 100 calls at his cell No. [protected], and mails to his Dell, s ID( the log of which is available with me and will be produced at an appropriate time), he could not give me any reply. My email to Mr. Narula Dt. 1st May is enclosed for your ready reference.
                    4. Since Sh. Narula assumed no responsibility to satisfy the customer(which in itself is very very derogatory on part of a Company like Dell), I made a complaint on line to your [protected]@dell.com on 5/5/09 and got an automatic reply on 6/5/09 with RE care ID- 1905581. I had to remind again on 8/5/09 for a reply.
                    5. On 11/5/09, your people asked me provide Service Tag number, which after ascertaining I wrote to them on 12/5/09. the Service Tag no was J9G13BS.
                    6. You have such a battery of Intelligent people who after such a long exchange of emails, again asked me on 13/5/09 “ Please let us know the issue to take it forward.”
                    7. I again told them the issue on 13/5/09 as is evident from the enclosed papers.
                    8. Then on 15/5/09, your people told me that “Return Policy- India is not applicable for the retail purchase” meaning thereby that I am bound to suffer as I have purchased the laptop from your Exclusive show Room and not from you over net.
                    9. On 15/05/09 I asked them the name, email and phone no of your Incharge India to make a complaint to him. Your so sharp team could send me a reply on 22/5/09 at 13.17 under RE- case ID 1905581 directing me to write to
                    “Dell India Legal Team,

                    c) Whether you maintain double policies/ standards viz. one for those who purchase it over net, and the other policy for those who purchase it from your Exclusive Show Rooms.

                    e) Whether the terms conditions shown on your website are applicable to your customers purchasing the machines from your “Dell’s Exclusive Showroom”

                    11 In addition to the reply to the above questions, I ask you to Pay the following amounts to me at the earliest

                    i) The refund of Rs. 42, 500/- which I had deposited with your “Dell’s Exclusive Showroom”
                    ii) Damages assessed to the tune of Rs. 50, 000/- towards hiding information, which a customer is lawfully entitled to know
                    iii) Damages to the tune of Rs. 50, 000/- towards mental agony and harassment committed by your officials since !st. May 2009 till 23/05/2009 and @ Rs. 1000/- per day till you settle the entire dues.


                    I further put you on notice that you must reply and pay me the aforesaid sums on or before 15th of June, 2009 failing which I shall be left with no option but to initiate legal action against your company under the appropriate provisions of Law at your entire risks as to costs & consequences thereof.

                    I have just purchased a Dell Inspiron before 40 days. And started to getting hardware errors.
                    As per terms and conditions they replace the system within 30 days from date of purchase. Also they were aggree to replce the system.

                    But now they are saying they will only replace the HDD and also I need to pay for Windows 7 again. I got licence copy of Windows 7 with Core i3 Dell Inspiron. I don't understand what's the need to repay for licence version again.

                    Through one of my friend, a Dell make Laptop was purchased from Dell Computers in USA and bought to Delhi. I have approached Dell India for extending warranty and ongoing service support. The Customer Service of Dell computers have agreed for the same and asked me to pay Rs.15,000/- for the same, which I agreed and the same was paid through by Axis Bank Credit Card. However, to my surprise the company informed me after a weeks time that the said product cannot be supported in India since it was a recent launch in USA. The company have agreed to refund the amount paid to them. The amount was paid to them on October 17, 2011 and it is more than a month now - still the company has not refunded the said amount to me. I seek your assistance in directing the company to refund the amount with interest and penalty for not honouring their commitment.

                    I purchase my dell laptop inspiron n5050 last year in september its still in warrnty period and on desktop its comming in written that your windows is not genuine i get back that dealer place comexel somdatt plaza the mall kanpur i show my issue to that dealer he asked me to left the laptop with him for a day so that he can re install my windows again but when i took my laptop from him after some days it again started showing that your window is not genuine...

                    Then i took the customer care number from dell website i contacted them about my issue so then they told me from where i purchased the laptop he has installed the pirated windows in my laptop and they asked me to purchase the original one which is costing near about rs.8000 i already paid such a huge amout to the dealer and again they were asking me to pay such a amount for the issue...

                    This particular fraud is done by the dealer twice with me y should i pay to buy such a big amount to get the genuine one this should be paid by the dealer and dell should take the action towards the dealer i mentioned his name and add above please check it out and resolve my issue...

                    Another cheat he has done he told me that his laptop has the warranty of 1 and haf year but now when i checked it on dell websie its showing my laptop has the warranty only for 1 year...how can the cheat like this please go through it and try to resolve my issue...

                      I have a desktop PC Dell - Vostro - 200 bought with a genuine Win XP Home edition.

                      After the immediate(1 year) expiration of the desktops 'Warranty', the DVD ROM has stopped detecting CDs(audio cds, writable cds, Video Cd's). But the DVDs are working fine. Mind you that these Cds are not pirated or bought from any black market.

                      After calling Dell customer care 5 times in a row, every time i was compelled to hold the line for like 10 to 15 minutes and ultimately i cut the phone gettin fed up of waiting.
                      At times i was lied to by the callers saying "there are no waiting calls in the line sir. your call will be the first one for them" !!!
                      Is there no after sales provision of service for dell customers?

                        Subject - PF number KN/BN/24960/15790

                        This is in reference to my above Provident Fund Account. I submitted my PF withdrawl through Dell ( badge number 841345 ) on 12th June 2008 which was submitted at the PF Office Banglore on 27th June 2008. I was informed that the PF amount would be credited to my account within 3 months, however, it is almost an year and I do not see any credit to my account. I have been in constant touch with the Dell PF Department at Banglore and I was informed that my PF papers are cleared. The PF amount settled are Rs.37608/- epf and eps is Rs.15204/- The cheques will be dispatched and credited to my account by end of December 08 or 1st week of january 09.

                        I still have no information regarding the status of my PF credit. I tried to get in touch with the same person in Banglore but he asked me to contact the PF Commisioner Banglore for further information. I am extremely disappointed as I sent many letters to the following address but never got any response:

                          I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 3 years next business day warranty. It has been giving me issues right from the day I bought it and makes me regret buying it. The stupid Dell machine started restarting intermittently.

                          Since I have been in IT for last 9 years, I dont need Dell's call centre to tell me what needs to be done. I did all the troubleshooting and isolated the battery to be causing the issue. Finally I contacted Dell technical support to get the battery replaced and the the call centre agent gave me some basic stupid steps to perform which were not even close to what the issue was. They were not ready to help at all and wasted 1 week in troubleshooting some irrelevant redundant steps.

                          Finally when they realised that the battery was faulty (which I had already reported a week ago), they rudely asked me to buy a new battery from outside, despite the fact that I paid extra for a 3years next business day warranty. I was promised an engineer the very next day I report any issue and was told that the warranty will cover everything till 3 yrs.

                          Dell's after sales support is the most pathetic support I have ever come across. Dell's sales rep push customers to pay more for warranty and earn incentives. On the other hand, when you contact Dell's tech support, the technician's run away from their responsibilities and bring in new clauses of warranty to save warranty costs and earn incentives. I guess, this is the award winning Dell business model that Dell boasts off.

                          I would not recommend anyone to buy Dell ever again.
                          I received a Dell Inspiron 1525 as a gift. The hard drive began to have major trouble with freezing up at startup and Dell technical support were very unhelpful. I spoke to them over a MONTH and finally they told me to reinstall Vista OS. I lost all my files so I bought a backup. The Dell Inspiron has trouble copying CDs in the drive. The closer I got to the warranty running out the more technical support refused to help me, engaged me in such long problem solving trouble shooting that had nothing to do with the problem at hand. And finally stone walled me until the warranty ran out. My harddrive is now toast and I have to purchase a new one myself. I was told by my IT guy never to buy Toshiba harddrives which are very cheap and poorly made, tend to fail, and are sold by guess who, Dell, in all their laptops that year in Inspirons. As the complaints above testify, the customer service are only trained to run through their laborious drills that never really answer nor solve the problem. It was obvious to me after several calls, including one where in India it was getting late so he told me he didn't want to deal with me anymore, that they do not want to replace anything that breaks, they will just stone wall you until your warranty runs out with lame excuses about installing bad software
                          or viruses when clearly the problem was hardware and I had an independent IT guy verify that for me after spending cash out of pocket for his hourly rate. Thanks a lot for nothing Dell.

                              I had horrible/worst experience with Dell Customer service Center. I purchased DELL INSPIRON 1420 from one of the LAPTOP Showroom.I checked at that time also about Internationa Transfer.
                              They said clearly and shown some Brochers also saying that you will get the Internation Warranty and all. I came to USA in Last DEC'08 and i Tried to Transfer my account from Jan'09 onward.
                              But it was not happen still today. They are saying that My Original Name is matching as per their Records.I given all the details of INVOICE NUMBER, INVOICE DATE, SHOWROOM NAME/ADDRESS/SHOWROOM PHONE NUMBER/TIN NUMBER ALL...I told to them if you want i can send the INOVICE COPY (SCAN) also...How fun it is, I am the Owner and i paid the money from my pocket. They are saying that its not matching their Record..Its not my problem if they are not updated their records properly.

                                  - Got 7-10 delivery commitment (both verbal and written)
                                  - Was told XPS is premium machine with no chances of delay in delivery.
                                  - After waiting for 14 days I expressed my concerns again regarding delay in mail and told them they will have to compensate me for the delay.
                                  - - I call the customer care, am told to send mail to
                                  '[protected]@dell.com and not '[protected]@dell.com'.
                                  - 21 days since my order and I got neither the laptop nor any reply
                                  - finally after 22 days I got reply from salesman that he's looking into issue and assured that he'll get back to me with an update.
                                  - got laptop's delivery finally in 23 days
                                  - First reply from customer care for my five mails that there's no compensation policy.

                                  My issues:-

                                  1. First and the biggest, a courtesy reply is the least a customer can expect from a company like Dell.
                                  2. The customer care email id
                                  [protected]@dell.com was given to me by the Sales person in his order confirmation email. If they are providing customers wrong email address for contacting you, then
                                  its not customer's fault right??
                                  3. Since Sales person was in cc in all the mails, why he did not bother to tell me the correct email address?? He did not even bother to reply me either (not even once).
                                  4. If Dell really do not have any compensation policy then why the sales person or even his manager didn't let me know this??
                                  Why was I kept in dark for a full fortnight with nobody caring enough to even send me any reply ??
                                  Does Dell employees do not know their company policies or what??
                                  5. Analysis of Dell's Illogical policy on no compensation for delay in delivery.

                                  As per this Customer cannot raise an issue even if delay is by any period be it a year or even more (perpetual) and Dell will not have any liability to its customers for such delay.

                                  Such arbitrary and one sided conditions put by Dell on its website and not brought to the notice of customer at the time of placement of order are not tenable and are illegal. This brings bad name to Dell, which please note.

                                  6. When contacted over phone, the sales person told me to contact customer care for compensation while customer care executive told me that sales person is the nodal point for the resolution of this issue. What is the customer actually expected to do?
                                  7. Sales person is least bothered to reply to my 4 mails even after committing in his mail that he'll be getting back to me with an update. This is really very shameful.
                                  8. I was committed of 7-10 days delivery, while I got it in 23 days. That means even more than double the duration expected.

                                  I'll like to mention here that I chose Dell over Apple just because I believed in Dell's commitment to its customers but its Dell who has make me think otherwise. I deeply regret my decision to choose DELL.

                                  I've been waiting a month now for my laptop. Five e-mails and five phone calls have brought one lie after another from DELL. Each person has a different story and they all promise you will have it tomorrow - just wait one more day. That's mainly to get you off the phone. They lie about when they can deliver the laptop and then continue to make up lies about why it hasn't been shipped. When you call sales and say you've heard there is a delay, they lie to you and say, "no delays at all. There use to be but now you will get it in two weeks. The people that already ordered theirs agreed to a delay, so I will make sure your's is in line in front of those." How can they do false advertising when they know there is a delay and then lie about what they will do. DELL is a HORRIBLE company - they are treating their customers unfairly !!
                                  If you are not satisfied with the product or with anything from dell . You have a right to return the dell product back.
                                  Dell has a return/refund policy in which it refunds the whole amount i[censored] return the product in 30 days after receiving it in the same packing in which it came.
                                  You can even return the product after 30 days however dell might deduct some amount after 30days .

                                      I purchased Studio 14 ( Tag- 5LNT2BS) on 9th Jan-09 and received it on 23rd of jan-09.

                                      After a day or two, I found the speaker casing is open from one side, it can be fixed by pressing it tightly, But opens every other day.

                                      The plastic chassis which holds the screen is very loose and opens up from the top (Near the camera)

                                      Due to this there are Keyboard markings over screen and strong lines and markings all around keyboard, on Speakers and near touchpad. Situation exacerbated along with time, it started to intensify. They cannot be cleaned or wiped off.
                                      If not taken care now will lead to screen damage and lines all around keyboard. I will also like to tell you that I never overstuff my bag and have separate bag for laptop.

                                      This strongly indicates defective build of this laptop. I mailed customer service, I was asked to contact technical people, Then I mailed technical support( case no[protected], Didnt got any reply other then computer generated. Finally I called Tech support on 14th of april ( Case no 2058058), I was told to send pictures of all markings and if possible these parts will be replaced.

                                      I know its an engineering fault and replacing parts will not be the solution. As these marks will appear again in a week.I was directed to customer service and I asked them to replace unit but he denied .I even asked him that i am ready to pay for any higher model or ready to accept lower model (Inspiron), but no luck.

                                      Now I have suffered a lot and want to end all of this.

                                      I agree with Mr. Atul . I purchased Studio 14 in Feb 2009 and found that speaker hinge and screen chasis open.Due to lose hinges screen touches my keyboard and had key caps over screen.. Its horrifying, I never expected this from dell. When i call them now, they tell me that they cant help and i must have informed in next day of purchase. but what to do if i found it after using few days. Now i have only one option...to dump this 50, 000 .

                                      Dell is bogus. I hate Dell and swear never to let my friends buy any dell product
                                      Same problem. I am going to sue these . They say i must have overstuffed my bag. holes
                                      He he ... I had the same problem and dell turned me down ...Now i have sold that laptop and purchased HP. its better to sell it as early as possible, otherwise marks become darker on screen and you have to sell at junkyard...run run run...sell sell... selll.
                                      Wow...One of my friend studio 14 laptop and he was crying from then...all of the laptop developed scars and scratches and screen got damaged...just after 1 month... Noe dell doest reply his mails and nethier they help over phone...Main bach gaya, main bhi dell hi lene jaa raha tha...I bought a new HP now...

                                      Yes thats true...I have same Laptop and have two friends with same studio 14... All have same common problem...But i dont think we can do much...its better to purchase laptops from shop then net.. At least we can grab their collar... But in our scenario...no body is reday to take responsibility...Hell with Dell

                                      I have studio 14 and its giving me hard time. I don't know why it is so fragile. and i also have scratches over LCD. I now keep a sheet of plastic to save my LCD .
                                      Dell customer care is the worst. Itold them about same problem of mine. I was toldthat it is wear and Tear and does not comes under warrenty. But this is manufacturing defect, I got no help and now i am trying to sell my studuio 14 at half price. Still no taker.
                                      I agree with all my friends. I had a fight with these dell buggers last month. the service providers are too arrogant. they don care after they dispatch the product. The laptop cabinet is too weak. freaking sounds comes when you fold the notebook. and there is no hardware replacement for this. I asked to replace the hard drive though the space reduces by 1Gb everyday. But no response. Never go for Dell lappis. it was a hell waste of 50, 000 rupees.

                                      Dell-Studio laptop 14 — no delivery of product

                                      i ordered for Dell Studio 14 laptop through an agent of dell. They promised me to deliver it into 10 working days according to company's policy. it is almost 21 days i have made payment to Dell and they are not delivering me the product saying that they have some part to be delivered from malaysia. same thing happened with my friend also. it seems as if they are earning interest out of customer's money.

                                      i am suffering a great loss mentally as well as for my profession i needed it urgently. they must compensate for my loss and along with my laptop as soon as possible.

                                      i have booked DELL STUDIO 14 in MASTRO in NAGPURE on 3rd sept. 09. i have also paid the money but i am not getting the delivery. they are saying that studio 14 is not available and they dont know the exact position. whether i will get the laptop or not. why i am not getting the laptop? what is wrong with studio 14.

                                      hello shruthi i too ordered for dell on the same day on which u ordered.but still i havent recieved my laptop, Yesterday i contacted my dell representative he told me that dell 14 is having engineering problem.there are certain bios issues and hitting issues with intel motherboard.So the testing is still going on.my rep gave me a temporary date on 10th october and also advised me to cancel this order and go for Dell studio 15 which is performing good in the market.So i am asking compensation on studio 15 laptop.So what i advise u is the same cancell this order immediately.i don think studio 14 will work fine even after these tests, So cancell the order and place an order for dell 15 otherwise they will give u a complete refund of money, so take the money i[censored] are very particular abt 14 inch lapi.BUY sony vaio cs36g series or u can try for HP also.Never never buy dell 14.I[censored] want some more clarrification email me.All the best
                                      Guys, I have just ordered last week for the new model of Dell Studio 14 and as per the order tracking website i should be getting it in two weeks. Observed few days back that Dell has removed the order option for this model from their india website. As Ritwik has said, probably its got to do with the issues related to BIOS installation for the 64bit OS being provided with this model. Dell studio 14 is being provided with Vista 64bit by default(no option for 32 bit OS). On other hand default OS in studio15 is still Vista 32bit, which has no such problems. Didnt see any such problems in any reviews from Malaysia, where this model was released at first and still being sold out.
                                      Hello, yes Prashanth u r right dell 14 is shipped with vista 64bit os but jus now i confirmed that the problem lies with DDR3 ram that they are offering.so its better not to wait for this dell 14 lapi.I have also used dell 15 laptops from past 3 months, as per my knowledge this model is not having any problem expcept some like blue screen problem, driver incompatibility etc.But we can live with these.I am planning to ask my dell rep to give me dell 15 with same config which i had for dell 14 with no extra cost.i will post more updates on this issue after the talks.Below is my dell 14 configaration which i ordered.

                                      I called up Dell customer care today to check the order status of my Dell Studio 14 laptop(as per website should be delivered tomorrow) that I ordered two weeks back. Thats when they told that Dell has stopped manufacturing of Studio14 due to some issues. The only option they can provide right now is either provide a free upgrade to a Dell studio 15 or else cancel the order.

                                      The entire part in all this that irritates me is they didn't have the minimum decency to atleast keep the customer informed of this. I came to know about this problem after calling them up that too after a 45 min call waiting. I really pity those customers who have been waiting more than a month for the delivery.

                                      All those who have ordered for the new model of Dell studio 14, probably you would not be receiving this laptop model(as Ritwik said). Don't blindly believe me, call up ur customer care and confirm it.

                                      I have cancelled my order because I do not want to deal with a company which has no moral ethics. The refund would take another 15-20 days to get in hand. After that probably i may go for a Sony vaio VGN-CS35GN/B which is of same spec and price as the Dell studio 14 I ordered.

                                      I had exactly the same problem. I waited for a month till my road permit expired and then I decided to cancel the order. I was give the same excuse of part shortage in their factory in malaysia. I had to suffer a great deal because of this. I asked for a refund with interest for the time my money was with them. They assured me of a refund but no interest and I am yet to receive the money. I think DELL should be sued for this. And they must compensate people who have had to wait so long to get a laptop when these people just can easily march into a retail shop and get one without having to go through the pain. So guy buying from DELL is not recommended at all.

                                      I am in the same condition as yours. I had booked this laptop model through dell website directly. Just a day before the delivery date they say that Dell has stopped giving out studio 14. Instead either go for studio 15 or cancel the order. There are lots of customers who have been through the same trauma. I have to wait another 2-3 weeks now to get my refund. I seriously do not recommend buying a laptop from Dell.

                                      hello guys, i donno know frm where i should start telling my dell studio 14 story.my story may look like a twister ride for u guys.ok First i want to tell u guys i got my dell studio 14 delivered yesterday.Laptop is simply awesome.i tested it completely by installing all kinds of softwares and tools games etc its working absolutely fine no probs.
                                      Actually few days ago i cancelled my dell 14 order and completely shut my door for dell.But i was calling again and again for dell cc and i was asking back my payment.on 5th oct i called them suddenly for my surprise they gave me one option, that is they told that my lapi is ready for shipment and if i want i can take it now.With great risk i took this lapi yesterday.
                                      I tell u guys this Dell 14 is just awesome.its compact, powerfull and most advanced with DDR3 ram.so finally what i tell u guys is jus wait for another 2 days u will receive ur dream lapi.All the best.
                                      Got my Studio 14 laptop 2 days back. I would say its really superb in terms of looks and performance. Worth the wait i would say.

                                      I have suggested and my friend had given order for studio 14'. He had received within 6 days , Defective notebook, plugged in , not charging
                                      Dell India has become like gray market
                                      Once you buy , they are not responsible for anything
                                      It seems wipro is doing service , blaming each other
                                      As there is an option for refund within 30 days of purchase , opted for the same on the next day after received defect product , after confiming repair will not be there for a week
                                      Already 23 days , not even picked up , not able to conatct the right person
                                      Whenever make a call to Dell customer care , they keep on transferring call,each one will say , "I am not the right person for refund , I will transfer .....

                                      Once you buy Dell online , you should be prepare enough for going to consumer court too.

                                      i had the same problem.. my laptop lid used to bend when openeing now it has actually broke out of normal everyday usage, im scared to open the laptop because thers too much of preasure on the cracked zone and its developing. this is completely a manufacturing defect as the construction of the lid is so flimsy you can just turn and bend the front panel that covers the lid, my speaker part has also come off. i have to press it now and then

                                      my laptop is still under emi 9 months and i have to face this, i called dell and after a long conversation. they said my warranty dosent cover these defects and charged 350 to upgrade my warranty.

                                      would have been better with acer, my friends acer construction is far more superior to dell would never buy dell again in my life and would never recommend this brand again in my life.

                                      in dec 2009 i hav purchased a dell studio 1450 model at a cost of 50000 rupees it start troubling be with in first week ok my purchase .and after 15 day in jan 2010 my laptop was unable to work then an enginner from dell come to me and try to fix it and he fails after that dell gave approval for the replacement of my laptop .they said that replacement process is of only 21 days but it took 2 months for my laptop to be replaced .now when ihav my new laptop im the month of march 2010 its optical drive fails within first week .....now they have replaced my optical drive .but the optical disk of win 7 OS which was provided by dell didt work im completly dissatisfied whit the product and service of dell provided to me.i have to face lot of proffesional loss and im mentaly tensed by all this ........i have to call dell on every 2 or 3 day for any issue

                                      i had bought my dell lapotop inspiron1564 before two monthand configuration is 3gb ram 320 hard disk. but they creating many problem .whem i starting my laptop its automatically off after starting it hapened 5 times
                                      and my laptop function is very slow. and i m fade with my laptop problem.sum time they structing. i want to change my laptop from dell company..
                                      I OWN A DELL STUDIO 15 (MODEL: STUDIO1558). ORDERED IT ON 19TH MAY AND GOT IT DELIVERED ON 26TH MAY IN NEW DELHI. EXTREMELY FAST DELIVERY AND ON TOP OF IT THE PACKAGE IS SO WELL WRAPPED THAT NOTHING CAN DAMAGE THE PACKING. THE LAPTOP IS WORKING EXCELLENT TILL DATE. I HAVE FACED NO ISSUES TILL NOW. EXCEPT THAT JUST OUT OF INQUISITIVENESS AND TO CHECK OUT THEIR AFTER SALES SERVICE. SO JUST LIKE THAT I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE CHARGING ADAPTER GETTING HEATED UP AND THE DELL BLUETOOTH HEADSET (BH200) WHICH WAS GIVEN TO ME FREE OF COST ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THOUGH IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE. AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY TOOK UP THE COMPLAINT AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE IN NEXT TWO HOURS I GOT A CALL FROM SOME DELL DEALER SAYING THAT SIR YOU HAD SOME PROBLEM WITH YOUR ADAPTER AND BLUETOOTH HEADSET IN SOME TIME I'M SENDING A PERSON WITH THE NEW HEADSET AND ADAPTER. AND YES, WELL WITHIN 2 HOURS I GOT THE NEW PARTS IN MY HAND. DELL SERVICE IS SO VERY GOOD!! I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVRYBODY!!! I DON'T KNOW HOW COME OTHERS ARE FACING SERVICE RELATED ISSUES WITH DELL.

                                      THEY SEND THE LAPTOP BY BLUE DART WHICH IS A NAME IN LOGISTIC SERVICES.
