[Resolved]  Dell Inspiron 1525 — Plugged in, not charging

Yes, like everyone else, i was dupped by the dell (Yet again) i was not happy with my desk top from a few years back and i should have not repeated the same mistake, ordering from dell again! So, i am partially to blame! But i was in a bind and had to purchase a laptop fast and didn't have neither the time nor the resources to consider another alternative (Or at least a little more educated before making a costly commitment like this)!
Anyway, the problem with this "expensive piece of junk" is what plenty other people have noted: right after i ran out of warranty, the battery (Which was noit fully charging before) depleated to 85% (Even plugged in) and from 85 to 50% and soon after i am looking at 29% and it is going down 1% everyday. Again, please bare in mind that the computer is always plugged in and never on without external power.
I am so concerned and don't know what to do, as i have heard the replacement batteris are mostly refurbished and do the same thing after couple of months! So, that means even if i buy another battery, there is no guarantee that is going to last me any more than couple of months. Plus with today's economy, i can not effort buying a "new" batthery and pay for installation and check run, etc.. Etc.
So, please take this as a complain, from a very frustrated dell consumer or venting and my little way of expressing my huge disappointment with dell (With their hurrible india -based customer support) and if nothing can be done about my problem, at least someone could be saved from making the biggest mistake of their life: buying a dell notebook! Or dell of anykind!

DELL — Over charging for on site trouble and doing nothing

I had contacted Dell Customer for diagnosing the problem with my Laptop. After tossing me from one person to another and waiting for each customer service person to attend to me for more than ten months repeating the same story I was able to talk to a technical person(after 45 minutes). He said I can open the back cover and check on RAM. Since I did not have screw driver at that point of time he said he will call me on the next day morning (that was on 9th October 2010). But he never called me since it was not a working day I learnt no customer service till following Monday.

I called the Dell custmer service on Monday and Tuesday wanting to contact the same technical person I talked on Friday so that I need not repeat the story. But the same tossing continued on both the days. Finally I was told that I had to pay Rs 720/- for customer service engineer visit to diagnose the problem as my Laptop was out of warranty. Since I had called on wednesday to make the payment after tossing me again I was told to pay Rs 1364/- to diagnose the problem. After realising the payment I was called on Friday by Dell to fix up an appointment with the engineer,. The very next day on Saturday (16th October 2010) engineer ID 607289 Shri Rahmat) visited my home he opened the back cover checked everything and informed the Laptop is quite OK. Since I was not satisfied that there is no problem with the Laptop I wrote I will accept after observing. The very after few hours the laptop hung went off and the same problem persisted. I informed Shri Rahmat by SMS the the problem with the Laptop is not diagnosed. I called the Dell customer service to say that the problem is not diagnosed for which I have paid. I was told to contact Dell service centre at Andheri,Mumbai or I pay Rs 16000/- to attend to Motherboard problem which they have assumed. Service centre informed again I have to deposit Rs 1364/- before they diagnose and tell me how much it costs me to repair the Laptop.

Notwithstanding your obligation to give proper customer service after giving International Warranty for your brand you have failed to even give elementary service. I demand the minimum you can do is to refund Rs 1364/- which have taken.

Under the present circumstances since your brand name is cheating the customers I have no hesitation to send a copy of this to Consumer redressal Forum.

I have a Dell inspiron 1525 bought in April 2008. Just now has started "plugged in, not charging" and is at 63%. I updated the BIOS but that has done nothing for it. I have read that HPs have the same problem, and most feel it is VISTA problem. Don't have a clue what to do, but surely somebody, somewhere can give us assistance for this disturbing situation. We have placed an order for INSPIRON 14R laptop and, i am highly dissatisfied with the service and response of the Dell Sales Person and getting thru your call center to reach the Sales officer and get a clarification is a huge task. With this high note of dissatisfaction i am mentioning the chronological order of events below

Order placed on the 1st Nov 2010 and received the order acknowledgment the same day.
Amount debited to my credit card on 2.11.2010
As per the Dell order status in the web site the delivery date mentioned was 12.11.2010
Post 12.11.2010 we have tried to contact the concerned Sales officer ( Mr. Praveen) thru the call center no, we were kept on hold for more than 15 min and there was no credible response in terms of the status of the order.
Post this i had sent a mail thru the web site to customer care on the 12th Nov, but till date except for the auto generated mail reply we have not got any call from your office informing the status of the order.
Post this today on the 16th - over a 15 minute ordeal of holding the call and talking to 3 of your call center executive i could speak to your Sales officer Mr. Praveen Chander Ja and he said he will revert back on the order status today.
The most unsatisfactory answer and the least i expected was, i believe a declaration has to be given by the Sales officer for dispatch of the machine and that was not given which delayed the dispatch of the machine.
Adding "sin to sorrow" when i spoke to Mr.Praveen he said as he was on leave he did not answer to our call - made to his mobile, and also due to his absence the declaration could not be given - which resulted in the machine not being dispatched.
What surprises me is why there is no one else to take care of the customer in his absence!! and also during the conversation, Mr. Praveen mentioning that " Do you expect me to break my leave and dispatch the machine, or answer your call" is highly insulting.

I must mention this i had high regards for dell, as one of my friends had got a machine on line and he was satisfied with the service, based on which i had placed this order but to my dismay the service has been poor and least of all the response has been disheartening !!! With this state of affairs i am not even sure how the online service is going to be!!
I bought Inspiron 1545 in april 2009. Now since last 2 weeks, i am facing the same problem i.e. Pugged in, Not Charging. I think the issue is with the adapter. My friend has the same laptop. when i use her adapter, the battery charges well, showing the status Plugged in, Charging.
I have an Inspiron 1545 and have had the same problem although it was temporary. My issue is with my CMOS battery. My computer won't boot up and I'll have an error message stating time of day clock stopped. I've had my motherboard replaced three times but they all have the same faulty part so it's only a temporary fix.

DELL INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED — Replace System has Different Configuration

My Original Laptop had Hard drive problem, so i launch complaint to Dell for whole system replacement... my system has been replaced but it has different configuration and color. My original system was 15R N5010 (Service tag no. 9G2N6BS), they have given 14R N4010 (Service tag no. 3Y697BS). my original system was more costly than this and it is also not convenient for me, but when i trying to explain it to Dell then are not looking interested in providing me my original configuration system. I called many time to Dell but they are not responding positive.
Please try to solve this issue. I am looking to filled complaint to police station also.

If it really the dell battery's fault, The company will call it back, If the battery in 1-year warranty, ask the local Dell for tips and services. DELL Inspiron 1525 _ Motherboard Problems — Dont buy DELL -Mother board problem in New laptop - Hardly used

I have purchased a Dell laptop -Inspiron 1525 by December 2008. Last month, when i switched on the Laptop, the Screen went black and it gets switched off. when called for Dell customer care, they said that the Mother board has gone and i need to replace it for which i need to pay Rs 14,000 with one yr warranty for the Motherboard. When i asked about the possible reasons for my mother board getting faulty which is used rarely at home as i had my office laptop to use on all weekdays. There is no reason from them. My laptop cost was Rs 37,000/- . So Dell wanted me to spend 50% of the amount every year to keep my laptop alive. I wanted all new Laptop Purchasers don't go for DELL choice as DEath of Latest Laptops happens at any time.

I am Astha Gupta working presently in Noida. I took dell Laptop few months before and now its bluetooth is not working. I called up many times, no response. I also tried to email the technical team but no one is responding. I am very annoyed with such behaviour as i never expected from huge company like Dell. I would never suggest anyone to go for same.
