[Resolved]  Indian Railways — Refund due to Cancelled ticket

I have made the below reservation for e-tickets from irctc.co.in for travel to Jammu via Garib Rath on 20th June'08. The booking was made on 7th of May'08 for the travel of 20th June'08. The amount was charged on my credit card and i paid the amount. On the date of travel, the train got cancelled and we were not even informed about it. We have got further bookings from Jammu to Srinagar on 21st June'08 at 9:30 am, which was also got cancelled due to this train cancellation I called up atleast 100 times to know the status of the train, sometimes they said it on time and sometimes they said it is canceeled. Well we reached the Railway station to know thw exact status and finally we got to know that the train was Cancelled. We ran to the Bus stop, to catch up for a bus to Jammu and since we reach at the last moment it was so difficult to get the tickets for 22 people. Well some how we managed to get the tickets and board the bus and reached Jammu by 12:30 pm, which resulted in the cancellation of the flight tickets from Jammu to Srinage which was scheduled at 9:30 am. I incurred a loss of Rs 1000.00 per tickets and got another ticket booked from Jammu to Srinagr for a much higher flight rate of Rs. 1500 each on ticket. As I could cancel the tickets as I have already booked my hotel, helicopter tickets at Amarnathji. Well after incurring a loss of around Rs. 50, 000 for the entire troop. We came back to delhi on 28th June'08. I applied for the refund on 29th June'08. And the reply which I got from the railway deppt is that they will take 90 days or more to refund the amount for the cancelled ticket. I called them up and said that I cannot wait for such a long time, I needed the refund, the Railway Supervisior mis-behaved with me over phone and said that I can go ahead and complain in Consumer Court against thia and he is least bothered. Also that he does not have time to listen to the all this and he will only refund the money in 3 months time. My complain is, how can I am expected to apply for a refund in a period of 72 hours when i am nto in Delhi to apply for a refund. When a train got cancelled by railways themselves, is it the responsibilty of railways to process Automatic refund to the passengers. Will they will bear the interest to the money we paid to them.

Can someone please help me in getting my refund back on time.

Dear Sir,

as railway ticket no. is 90536966 but PNR no. is not printed o.k. so please suggest us how find the PNR no.
actually i have booked my ticket for 29th of dec from bangalore to n.j.p but need to cancel my ticket and i did cancelled on 19th dec but still its not showing refund status, i haven't got my money back...kindly tell me how much time it's going to take more.

we book one ticket for three passenger from h. nizamudin to indore in 3AC from train no. 2416 dated 28/09/09, but we miss the train from h. nizamudin. our pnr no. is[protected].
