Sony ericson w 580i mobile — theft / loss of mobile set

Dear sir, i am working as manager with reserve bank of india, mumbai. i had sony ericson w 580i mobile phone which got stolen / lost while boarding the local train in the morning at 9:00 am on 2nd July 2009. the IMEI number of my set is [protected]. my mobile number is [protected] (airtel). i want to get my mobile set blocked using the IMEI number. is it possible?

I had mobile phone sets purchased from Sony Ericsson. I Lost (theft) those two phones recently. Given the complaint at the police station and they just recived from me and no record for the complaint response from police. In this absence I am not able to myself trace the phone. When I contacted Sony Ericsson sales office and service centre, They simply say that it is not possible to locate the phone by IMEI no alone . THEN WHAT IS THE PURPOSE THEY CREATE UNIQUE IMEI number FOR EACH MOBILE SET? Is it not rediculous to Engineering community and Sony Erricsson company that manufactures such costly item and sold to customer?
