I & my sister recently checked in to "The Retreat Hotel & Convention Centre’ at Madh Island Marve Road, Mumbai (11th Oct’16).
We made an online booking for one night, but kept the option open for an extended stay, incase we had a good time off at the hotel premises.
What followed had us appalled, dejected, furious & stressed for the rest of our stay.

- ISSUE no. 1 - The online booking made on Booking.com clearly mentioned that we selected the Twin bed/ 2 Singles bed option. But, we were checked in to a room with a king size bed. We had to haggle with Mr. Roy, & support our concern with proof of mail that mentioned we had a booking for 2 single beds. WE DID THAT, & were moved to another room, thankfully.

- ISSUE no.2 - The second room we shifted to had no working phones, since the lines/ connection cables were rotten. After chasing the staff to yet again do something about this, we were proposed another room (hopefully with a working phone line)

BY THIS TIME, ON A ONE DAY HOLIDAY, WE HAD ALREADY WASTED A COUPLE OF HOURS SHIFTING 2 ROOMS - LUGGING OUR STUFF.

ISSUE no. 3 - We’d shifted to the third room now, which was now, not ready for a check in - No water bottles kept for the guest & guess what - THE TOILET FLUSH WAS NOT WORKING - For Every Single Flush we HAD TO MAKE a call to the front desk, requesting for the flush to work - which would then flush after the complain - 5 such annoying calls were made from our end so the flush could be treated -

BY NOW, IT WAS AROUND EVENING, & WE HAD LOST ALL PATIENCE & OUR TIME ONLY MAKING CALLS DEALING WITH PHONES AND TOILETS. NOT TO FORGET THE TV REMOTE THAT HAD SMALL INSECTS CRAWLING ON IT - BUT BY NOW WE HAD LOST ALL PATIENCE TO EVEN COMPLAIN ABOUT THE UNKEMPT ROOM

Here began the never ending negotiating phone calls with Mr. Roy, the manager & his senior Mr. Vijay Paware, who started proposing inane things that could make us feel better & compensate for the entire day we wasted at the hotel, dealing with issues that only talk about how mis-managed the hotel is, and how callously the managing staff deals with unhappy guests.

They offered us a 'free lunch' OR 'an extended stay till 6pm next day' OR 'a Rs.2000 discount on the first day room cost to cover for all the trouble we went through & ruining our entire stay.

It was only logical that we ask for a complimentary one day stay the next day as our so-called day was already ruined thanks to the mis-managed hotel. According to Mr. Vijay Paware & Mr. Roy this was "OUT OF QUESTION" as they will need to provide an explanation for the same to their auditors (not our problem).

This was obviously a long telephone conversation negotiating terms & finally denying us what we wanted & instead telling us very categorically to "CHECK OUT NOW before 6 to Avail the discount" or stay till 6pm with out the discount. The choice was ours.

This condescending and rude tone and behaviour made it simpler for us to decide to leave immediately & so we did. So, according to the staff, the Rs. 2000 discount made all my troubles go away! Wow!

We need compensation for all the nonsense we’ve gone through, not to mention dealing with embarrassment by haggling terms with the rude hotel staff

I would kindly request you to please change our hotel information on your website. We have been incurring a lot of problem with this issue as the guests have been making the booking under the name of heritage hotel but the payment is being transferred to the old id - pavanratna hotel and resort it will be very helpful if you could solve this problem with immediate effect as our guests as well our hotel has been facing many problems. Also please make our property live on your website so that the customers can start making booking through your website.

      We booked 'Banasura Island Retreat' at Wayanad via Travel Guru for which payment was deducted and confirmation mail was received from Travel Guru. When contacted the hotel, it was brought to our notice that no such booking has been made in the hotel and that same hotel does not even have any rooms available.
      When we requested Travel Guru helpdesk to book another hotel, they bluntly refused and clarified that reimbursement will be made within 7 days.

      Desirable Resolution : Refund should be certainly made within 2 days and work on this unethical work culture. If not done so, we will file a case for cheating and fraudulence against the company.

        I booked a room at Hotel Premdeep, Matheran on Travelguru website on 23.03.2016. My booking id is TGU[protected]. However, when I reached the Hotel, I found that there was no such record. When the manager called their office up, their support guy asked me to get in touch with Yatra.com. I was dismayed and asked him to set the booking right immediately. The support guy asked me for my booking id and after a while could locate it. I was informed by the manager that Travelguru never called them up to confirm my booking. Further the tariff of the room was INR 3, 500 and not INR 6, 792 as charged by them. He asked me to check on goibibo and use it next time onwards for any travel booking.
        I believe that these guys are clearly making supernormal profit by fleecing customers. I would recommend this website to be blocked and the unscrupulous owners put behind the bars...

          Booked four rooms through travelguru.com on 21 march for two days i.e for 22 and 23 march in the hotel Neel Madhaba International in puri, odisha. I made an online payment of rs. 81/- through sbi net banking vide transaction ref no. IGOBRPNPB6. I got the confirmation invoice from travel guru through mail vide booking id. MOTG[protected]. We are in total 4 families booked for 4 rooms in puri. We started our journey from sambalpur in early morning via train in AC chair car. At about 7.30 am i got a call from the said hotel manager that no rooms were available with them and they will not be responsible to the booking done by travel guru. They said that travel guru unauthorizedly made that online booking without taking the hotel's consent. One can well imagine the situation faced by me at that point. We are on our way to puri in a peak time where availability of room is in a scarcity and we have two senior citizens along with 5 small children with us. I could not think what should i do at that moment. Then i immediately mailed to travelguru about the matter and also called their customer care no at about 8.15 am. I narrated the matter to them. The customer care representative assured me to resolve the issue. I waited for 1 hr but still they did not call me back. I contacted them again. They said that they can not do anything for this mishappening and just tendered me an apology mail. They mailed me that my entire amount will be refunded to me in the next five days. Its so ridiculous that they made a serious fault and still they do not try to return my amount immediately. Anyhow we reached puri at about 1 pm and after a hectic search we managed to find 4 rooms in a hotel after paying about rs. 000. I got a total loss of around ten thousand apart from the mental agony and tention caused by the said travel booking site. These sites should be exposed to the people and must be punished by law. It is also to be mentioned here that it was very very difficult for a middle class person like me to pay rs27000 at once because i already have transferred rs 81/- on 21 march to travel guru. It means i had to arrange rs44000/- . when i mailed the travel guru site about this matter and asked them to take immediate measures to refund my amount atleast, instead of doing so they again tendered another apology mail to me with an offer to provide me a 1000 rs gift voucher. What a joke? I request all through your site to punish this site so that no second person like me would be victimised.

            I activated 3G 250Rs data 1GB pack and used that complete 1GB, deactivated the pack after completion. But after billing I had noticed that idea had charged about approx. 950Rs as Prorated overusage charges. I have no idea what is the deal behind this term(Prorated overusage charges). I even surfed the whole idea website regarding this terms but ended with no results.

            Then I called Customer care and enquired about this issue, they explained about this term why charge like this and am surprised. Later I asked is there any written terms which details about this case and again their answer was no, but they say they will explain every customer about this tern while they activate the pack orally, but in my case none of their executives had explained this issue while activating. So this is a pure hidden act that idea deals with customers and charge without prior information and says we have to pay it definitely.

            Please address this issue.

              Their cancellation policy worst amont other hotel booking sites.

              I booked one room at hotel galaxy on 29-02-16 through this site but due due misguided location representation on google maps, i had to cancel this booking.

              Though i cancelled this booking on same day but they did not refunded any amount but this type of policy does not persist with other site.

                I have done hotel bookings for Senthil Residency, Dindigul from Travelguru and booking reference numbers are TGU[protected] & TGU[protected]

                Check-in 26th Feb'16

                Today i have received call & email from Travelguru stating booking cannot be confirmed and they are forcing m, e to cancel it.

                I need to know how is it possible after making 100% advance payment a booking is cancel/ ignored from any travel portal.

                I have many business partner coming from different part of country so asking them to back out at last moment will not only incur financial loss but also will spoil my business relation with them

                  I had booked the Hotel 'Adamo The Resort, Matheran' through Travel Guru on 13/12/2015. The booking amount of Rs. 21134.00 was also paid by me through my credit card. Thereafter my booking was confirmed with Booking No. [protected] and Booking ID TGUA[protected]. Thereafter I had called on next day to customer care number for reconfirmation of the said booking. But the customer service executive told me that the said hotel is not available on my dates, the hoteliers have not given them updation of their availability and he regretted. He also told me that he will cancel the said booking due to non availability of rooms and the same booking amount of Rs. 21134.00 will reverse within 4 to 5 days. Hence I believed on his words. But the said amount is not reversed in my a/c within the said period, so I called back and told the said fact of non-refund my amount. Then I have told by customer service executivere that the said reverse transaction is in procedure, It will take time of one week.
                  Thereafter I received my Credit Card statement and shocked to see the said amount of booking is shown as outstanding in the statement. Hence I called urgently on Customer care no. and make complaint of this. The customer service executive told me to give complaint to them through e-mail. Hence I sent complaint complaint. Now they are saying refund is not possible. The amount of booking is debited from my account.
                  Please help me.

When I contacted the hotel desk, they denied any such booking. I informed Travelguru & enquires repeatedly about the booking. They are not replying to my query mail.

                      I had booked 2 hotel rooms for Ahmadabad for 25 & 26 Dec 2015, and my rooms were booked in 14 Square hotel. The payment voucher had clearly indicated the hotel room and address. However when I reached Ahemdabad I was amazed not to find the hotel as well as the address (the address mentioned didn't exist). Moreover on contacting the customer care they were not able to help efficiently. Later I was contacted by some agent who informed me that 14 Square is not a hotel but a vendor who provides service apartments and I was taken to a service apartment in under construction building and room was messed with the scattered clothes of the cleaner who stayed there.

                        I had a very bad experience with travelguru when the hotel refused to allot us a room despite booking and payment done in advance through Travelguru. I Rohit Narayan, had booked a hotel through travelguru on 19/12/2015 in Shimla (hotel detail: Hotel Apple Rose, NH-22, Kachi Ghati, Tara Devi, Shimla) and had paid an advance of Rs 2, 999 for stay on 25/12/2015 till 26/12/2015. On arriving at the hotel premise, on the said date, the management said that they do not have any confirmation from travelguru and refused to allocate the room despite paying in advance. Further they said that they do not have any dealing with travelguru and any grievances must be addressed through travelguru. In that regard my numerous calls with the travelguru helpline went unanswered and thus I had to leave their premise and had to book another hotel for my stay. The booking was confirmed by Travelguru and the room tariff was also paid in advance. I had written the matter to travelguru on their email ID [protected]@travelguru.com on the above said date itself for a refund but am yet to receive a response.                           Travelguru is probably the worst travel agent I have come across either in India or overseas. I have travelled around the world, both officially and on holiday, never having to ever face problems with my travel agent, until I used Travelguru on the net, for my next booking. This happened around mid-December 2015. I booked a double room in Asroria Residency Hotel, Ooty on December 14, 2015 on the trip advisor website. Travelguru was the only travel agent offering rooms then in Astoria. I paid full amount via net banking and received confirmation and booking ID of from Travelguru. Only December 23, 2015 I called up the hotel in order to double check the booking (thank God for that). I was advised by the hotel that there was no booking in my name (Dec 30 to Jan 02, 2016). This came as a shocker to me. I immediately called up Travelguru in Mumbai, with whom I shared the booking details. Once they got all the details, they kept me 'on hold' for over five minutes, after which the call was answered by a second staff member of the company. I repeated all the details I had given to their first staff member, which I found highly irritating and unprofessional for any organisation in the service industry. I was told that there they could not confirm my booking on the initially confirmed dates. Being very upset, I requested for an immediate refund, which they promised to do. I booked my room elsewhere, with another hotel, on the same dates. Will never again use Travelguru or recommend others to ever use this travel agent (if they want to have a trouble free trip). They did not inform me that there was no booking in my name and this too after taking full payment from me.

                            Have made the payment, have got the booking confirmation, but got another hotel without any notification. Have called them continuously to resolve the issue they are not responding to the case. The hotel owner is misbehaving and is not picking up the phone even. We want to check out but the hotel owner is not letting us do that and saying we will not get the payment back, we will have to stay there. My question is first of all why did I receive the confirmation after payment. The sales representative has checked and made me do the payment. Hotel says they do not have rooms available. What should I do, I am stuck.

                              I booked Hotel Mandawa in Jaipur and the travel department had done the booking in Mandawa Jhunjhunu District which is damn far away from Jaipur. i want my same booking from tomorrow in Hotel Mandawa Jaipur. fraud booking was done and now the travel department is not responding. Shift my booking to Hotel Mandawa Jaipur.
                              a fraud company with no customer support.

                                During the recent floods in Chennai my flights got cancelled to PORTBLAIR(via chennai)and so I had to cancel my hotel bookings as well .I got all the refund from the flights and hotel from makemytrip.com but just got a 50% refund of the hotel i booked from travelguru.Had to follow them up for days and the hotel ppl as well. Travelguru guys dont even bother to call the hotel admin staff to ask for refund they tell the customers to contact themselves and the hotel staff tell to contact the booking website ...All i did was wasted all my time and money contacting the two and behaving as mediator to get back my money...This website definately suckkks...Worst exp ever...Will give negative reviews everywhere

Deepak said that it is fine and I can request the Hotel (Rajmandir, Somwarpet) authorities for an early check in. When I called the Hotel, the owner (Rajesh) talked very adamantly and asked me to cancel the booking after the payment was made. I had to make a half day payment after reaching the place. Deepak also gave us a false information that we have complimentary breakfast. To our surprise, the hotel looks like a lodge and you will not get even a cup of tea. I don't recommend anybody to use travelguru services.

                                    Never ever book hotels through travel guru if you don't want your holidays to get spoiled. They can keep you stranded at hotel or make you accept some useless and filthy accommodation at the eleventh hour. Their business practices does not look fair and ethical. Had I read the reviews of other travellers I would have avoided my holiday plan going haywire. I had booked the hotel (Blue Breeze Resort) at Dapoli through travel guru on 23/11 for 2 nights (31/12 and 1/1/16) but to my utter surprise I received a mail from them on 7th Dec which stated that they are unable to confirm my booking which had been already been confirmed by them on 23rd Nov. However, they had given me an alternate choice which was not only an inferior accommodation, which looked like haunted house andalso quite far from the initially booked hotel. The tariff of alternate hotel was around 30% of tariff paid for the initial booking. Also, I was informed that on agreeing for the alternate choice no refund of differential amount is applicable. I wasted lot of time with support executives to understand why the same communication was not done immediately and why they waited for 14 days to inform me. Support executives seem to be well trained to handle this type situation as it must be a part of their daily routine. They keep passing the time by giving hopes for some better option till you get frustrated. Based on the experience with travel guru I would seriously recommend, not to do any booking through Travel guru and avoid lots of mental agony for you and your loved ones apart from finding yourself in embarrassing situation.                                       Please note based on availability of rooms at Gir Lion's Paw Resort during 25th 27th Dec'15, I booked our accommodation through Travelguru on 9th Dec'15. I paid the entire amount of Rs 11, 857/- and got the confirmation vide Travelguru Booking ID TGU[protected]. Very surprisingly, when I contacted the resort next day for confirmation of the booking, they indicated that there is no availability of rooms during that period and therefore they can not arrange my accommodation. Further, they mentioned they don't have any mails/confirmation from Travelguru regarding the booking. Immediately, when I reported the fact to Travelguru, they indicated that hotel is not agreeing to provide such accommodation for that period. Please note that I am extremely getting harassed even though I have paid the amount and having the booking confirmation. Travelguru is such a careless website they not only cheat people by making false information in their website but also never bothered to call and inform to take care of the customer.                                         I have called travel guru and informed to book hotels in ooty, munnar and thekkaddy. I gave an option for ooty and munnar but i have asked travel guru to book a hotel in thekkady which is good. For the hotels that were booked they charged with huge amount where make my trip provides with very lesser amount and i was shocked to see this difference and now they say that these bookings are not refundable. The hotel which they book is about 40 km away from thekkady which is also shocking to me but they never informed me about that. I spoke with the customer care for number of times but it was no use. I would request travel guru to train their employees to provide correct information. They should not charge huge amount from customers. I would request travel guru to refund my amount for the bookings. [protected], [protected]
