[Resolved]  Dell Inspiron 1525 — Plugged in, not charging

Yes, like everyone else, i was dupped by the dell (Yet again) i was not happy with my desk top from a few years back and i should have not repeated the same mistake, ordering from dell again! So, i am partially to blame! But i was in a bind and had to purchase a laptop fast and didn't have neither the time nor the resources to consider another alternative (Or at least a little more educated before making a costly commitment like this)!
Anyway, the problem with this "expensive piece of junk" is what plenty other people have noted: right after i ran out of warranty, the battery (Which was noit fully charging before) depleated to 85% (Even plugged in) and from 85 to 50% and soon after i am looking at 29% and it is going down 1% everyday. Again, please bare in mind that the computer is always plugged in and never on without external power.
I am so concerned and don't know what to do, as i have heard the replacement batteris are mostly refurbished and do the same thing after couple of months! So, that means even if i buy another battery, there is no guarantee that is going to last me any more than couple of months. Plus with today's economy, i can not effort buying a "new" batthery and pay for installation and check run, etc.. Etc.
So, please take this as a complain, from a very frustrated dell consumer or venting and my little way of expressing my huge disappointment with dell (With their hurrible india -based customer support) and if nothing can be done about my problem, at least someone could be saved from making the biggest mistake of their life: buying a dell notebook! Or dell of anykind!

Everyone seems to be having a problem with Dell about this issue... but, it's not Dell with the issue.. My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv7-1130us Entertainment Notebook PC .. and I'm having the exact same issue.. "Plugged in, not charging" I've had my laptop for 11months.

I remove my battery while the computer is plugged in, and then put the battery back in, and then the battery icon starts moving, like it's charging, and says "97% available (plugged in, charging)" .. then within a minute later, the icon stops moving and says, "0% available (plugged in, not charging)"

DELL Inspiron 1525 — turning off instantly and heat faster

Hey guys..
I have a dell inspiron 1501 i i have the same problem "Plugged in, not charging"
But ony in windows vista or windows 7, with windows xp its working perfectly
I think its a software problem
The problems faced by the rest is like Deja vu . Same problem . I purchased Dell inspiron 1525 in Aug 2008 and now the bty is showing not charging . The dell customer service told me that they give only 300 days warranty on the battery and hence I will have to replace the battery and to think I was stupid enough to buy a nine cell battery paying extra to give me more off power support.

Dell 1526, ran into the same problem with the battery not charging when plugged-in and every time I start it up it say something about not recognizing the AC Adapter. Laptop just over a year old. Looks like Dell is losing lots of customers unless they have a solution for this quickly.
here i'm also joining league...i bought my laptop inspiron 1525 in may 2008...it worked fine till now..but one week before i started noticing same problem - "plugged in not charging"...the % was reducing day by day...now it has reached 19%...so i'm afraid after it reaches 0 it won't work...so what will happen? can anyone tell? will it work or not? as now warranty period is over, what will be the response of company? can we get new adapter? or how can we solve this problem?

waiting for ur replies...

dell inspiron — BREAKAGE

hi
I bought dell inspiron a few days back n its body has started breaking..wat should i do..its under guaranteee period..wat action can you take regarding this...
Sorry to point out to you that as with any device from any manufacturer, be it a cell phone or computer, carries with it a one year warranty on the battery regardless of who you purchased the system from. I am typing this on an Inspiron 1525 that is a little over a year old and have no issues with the battery as of yet. But I am fully aware that if I do, I am responsible for purchasing a replacement battery. You have to go into any purchase of any item with a battery with the understanding that the battery may go out and if you do have issues, as you stated you did with yours, within warranty, then you get it replaced with the refurbished battery that is provided per your warranty.

So, I suggest you stop wasting your time by posting things on web sites that were fully in your control, and just go purchase a replacement battery.

By the way, if the system is ALWAYS plugged in as you state it is, then why does it make any difference about your battery life at this time??
I was having the same problem. I had the charger from my old Latitude 610. I plugged it in and it started charging. I remember a pop-up a while back that said my charger was not sufficient to maintain optimal performance. I am wondering if the little "Pee Wee Herman" charger isnt degrading amps over time. Origional one put out 3.34 Amps, 610 one puts out 4.62 Amps.

Working like a charm now! I hope this helpd you guys!
AFTER SO MANY COMMENTS, ANYONE READING THESE MUST NEVER MAKE A BLUNDER SO AS TO BUY A LAPTOP FROM DELL REGARDLESS ITS LOW COST ... A FRUSTRATED DELL USER
I buy, sell, and repair laptops and Dell (in particular 1525) has a problem with the adapter soldered onto the motherboard and requires replacing. Unfortunately they always go bad after 12 months when most warranty's are expired. The reason blowing, tapping, and other various tricks work is because you are actually fixing the short. Bottom-line, you need to call Dell and have them replace the motherboard. DO NOT buy a motherboard yourself because it most likely will develop the same problem.

If you do NOT have any Warranty left then call Dell and ask to speak to the product supervisor for laptops. Tell them that you are aware they have sold you a product with a known defect and firmly insist they repair it. I've been successful in getting all mine repaired as long even with expired warranty.
Also, I might add that since I repair units, Dell has the most problems and I actually have less service issues with HP/Compaq. Now that's just in the past 24 months. Prior years Dell was by far the best, but unfortunately in the past 24 months they have become the biggest pile of junk.

Dell battery — Very poor customer service

I have 2 interactions with Dell Customer Service in India and both of them very very frustrating. After the first interaction, I gave them a second chance thinking first must be an outlier but now i am convinced that Dell does not care about customer service. Hence I have decided never to buy a dell again and infact few weeks ago i had recommended a first time computer buyer for Dell but I am going to make sure that he does not purchase a Dell.

Both my interactions were with dell accessories group - power adaptor and battery. For battery I interacted with 3 persons at Dell Service Center - Kulsum, Jeff & their manager Mr. Arun M. I got a quote from them with no problems and they gave me very prompt answers to all my questions before they got my payment. But once they received the payment, their tone changed completely. I tried contacting them thru email, phone but never got any response as to whether they have received my payment or not and when are they are going to ship my product. Its been a week now and I don't know if they have received my payment or my money is gone. I have spoken with Kulsum 3 times asking her this question and have got back a response that I will call you back. But obviously never got any calls back. Today I spoke with their manager (supposedly) Mr Arun M and he instead of consoling me had the guts to hang up on me. On calling again he is arguing with me and says 'this is an MNC' and this is how we work. You are 'just a customer' and not his manager so he is free to say what he wants. Instead of accepting that there is something wrong with and apologizing, his tone was arguemental and that this is the best I can do.

I am not sure what I can do to take care of this man (Arun) but am sure that am not going to purchase a Dell anymore..
i have problem in battery backup of my lap top it is getting restart time to time

please help me

DELL — Not getting any help with my questions

I bought all this stuff that was recommended by your company at a cost of 532.39, on 8/19.....Com puter ran the same. Called to ask why, then I was told to call Corel they told me I needed to buy more stuff.....If you look at my past history you will see I have bought alot from your company,,Now why would I spend over 600.00 for a 2002 computer when I just bought a lap top with 4 g and a wirelesss mouse for less. I feel like I got ripped off.
I called took a long time to get threw to someone, was sent all over the place and the guy hung up on me, with no call back, I sent an email was told I would be contacted and again was not.
I was going to buy a new dell for Christmas, Maybe its time to start going with another company. I have bought Dells and recommened them since 1994.

Dell Studio 1435 Laptop — manufacturing defect

sir, i have purchased dell studio 1435 notebook in march 2009. i am having a complete one year warranty.

its optical drive which is a hardware issue, have already been replaced after my complaint.
and now there are two more hardware problem in this notebook.
the problems are:

1. The "A" key works after a long press. and
2. The right side lid joint is loosen due to which the lid does not closes properly. this problem arouse by simply opening and closing the lid.
.
I talked to the one of the customer representative on[protected] and what he said is as follows:

for keyboard problem "Its been seven months you purchased the laptop so you could have damaged it by playing games or more usage, so nothing can be done".

and for lid joint problem "Its because of your rough usage of the laptop. You may ha dropped it from any height, so we can not do anything."

and after that they simply disconnected the call.

what should I do sir?

Dell Vostro 1200 Laptop Computer — DEFECTIVE PRODUCT SINCE DAY OF PURCHASE

THE DELL PEOPLE BECOMES DEAF WHEN THERE IS A COMPLAINT. THEY SOLD ME A DEFECTIVE VOSTRO 1200 LAPTOP AND NOW THEY ARE RELUCTANT TO REPLACE THE SAME. I RAN AFTER THEM FOR ALMOST ONE AND A HALF YEAR AND THEN THEY REALISED AND SENT THEIR ENGINEER. BUT THE ENGINEER CAME WITH A WRONG PART AND THAT TOO OLD & USED ONE. NOW HOW CAN I RELY ON THEM, HENCE REQUESTING YOUR INTERVENTION FOR A REPLACEMENT WITH COMPENSATION. I WONT ACCEPT THE SAME MODEL OF LAPTOP AS A REPLACEMENT AS I HAVE NO FAITH IN ITS QUALITY. HENCE I SHALL RATHER PREFER SWAPING CUM REPLACEMENT BY SOME OTHER RELIABLE MODEL.
I completely agree with this as it has happened to one of my friend. Its better to buy HP, Lenovo etc brands. These are well established in India. Dell always has a problem in its quality of product & service.
customer care executive is absolutely right
