I am subscriber / user of Broadband internet service as well as Cable TV connection from Ortel Communication Ltd., Sambalpur, Orissa. Initially the service was quite satisfactory like I was getting fairly good internet speed and nice picture quality. However, the quality of service deteriorated all of a sudden as for internet the link is not there for the entire day and hazy picture of cable TV. This phenomenon has now been continuing for the last 4 months and it has become a pain for me. I can not change the connection as it means entirely new costs involved and ortel is not responding in any way.

My customer ID number is 496659.

I put multiple phone and mail requests to Ortel to either improve the connection quality or return back the money but in vain. The customer care never takes up the calls and most of the time is engaged. I am fed up now and can only painfully request others that never never susbscribe to Ortel communication for Internet or Cable and do not suffer such as I have. They are highly unprofessional persons and I am determined to take up the case at consumer forum.

The quality of ORTEL cable service has been deteriorated to a great extent .The technical service of ORTEL is equally harassing.The service at the initial stage was quite high.Complaints are not attended properly. TOLL FREE no is stopped to avoid the customers from complain.In one sentence it can be said that it is a very worthless service now.It is very necessary and urgent to restore the service as earlier, otherwise it will not be too late for us to disconnect the service.

I am totally agree with you .
The main reason for their this kind of attitude, is that there is no alternate option in orissa we have.
So the ortel company is doing monopoly business here. So there is only one solution we can have- once any other new company lunch its network in orissa . Othewise we have to suffer like this.
Actully this ortel never cares about for customer satiscfaction. It only know how to cheat customer in any way . Such a bad service I have never faced any where in India .

    Hi.. This is Bishnu.. I am a customer of Ortel Bhubaneswar. Their Internet service is very poor and the guys who are in the charge of customer service they are not respond at all. When I called then for my complaint they said that your area not coming under our service center. I tried 5 different nos but the answer was same.

      I’m staying overseas and my family is staying in BBSR, GGP Colony. It is very sad to announce that the ORTEL executives have taken Rs. 1500 for connecting the net for last 2/3 weeks, but after several correspondence over phone there is no response from the company side. The executives are extremely non cooperative.

      HI FRIEND I STONGLY AGREE TO YOUR COMMENT. ORTEL NEVER FOR CUSTOMER. TRAI SHOULD BAN SUCH TYPE OF COMPANY. ITS TRUE THAT THEY ONLY LOOK FOR MONEY NOT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. SUCH A BAD COMPANY IS ORTEL.
      i take connection in 23 jan 2015, but they gave me the ling after 27th jan, and on feb 1 it is chargeble RS 402/-

      slow internet

      my membership number is 01078401. and the connection is very slow. They told me that the speed will be 120kbps. But my speed is 30 to 60kbps.

      Cable connection is not working . no channel are showing.

      No cable connection, payment is done but still no channels are coming..due to poor management of ortel communications, we are suffering a lot. Please try to amend your wrongs..And look onto our problem as fast as possible...

        Ortel has got the most irresponsible customer-care service I've ever faced....
        I'm from kolkata (WB).
        I was made fool by the sales person at first... he told me Ortel is the fastest internet connection in India... It provides 256kbps download speed (specifically) against the 256kbps plan...hahahah!!! ridiculous.... I asked him 100 times that was he making mistake to say 256kbps DOWNLOAD speed?? (I knew about the bandwidth conditions ) Even he was so shameless...to say "No No... It's the specialty Of Ortel"... And I was extremely fool to be amused by that Fraud's words...and I took the connection...hahaha....and the rest was just a nightmare to me!!!!! I used to get the connection hardly for 5-7 hours a day!!!!! I used to waste at least 50 Rs. from my mobile balance for calling the customer care executive every month of those horrendous 4 months of my subscription!!!!! I just laugh remembering that even I called them many times to collect the modem from my home, but they were so reluctant to that....

        It's my humble request to all the readers of this page that "Plz Plz Don't Trust these Hoodlums.... Ortel is a Dacoits' Organization"

          Dear Sir,

          I took an Ortel WiFi Connection before 10 days. Earlier when I was given with a modem connection we were experiencing lots of problems of modem disconnection, signal, connectivity failure etc. The dealer convinced that WiFi connection has overcomed all sorts of complaints that arroused with modem. So after taking the connection, the neither modem nor the WiFi is working. Inspite of our repeated approach these people are not responding to our queries. We are strictly dissatisfied and afterwards I took all the defective devices and dropped to the dealer's office. There on instead of responding to my query these people told that we are helpless and plz take away the device. Get it on some other day we will cancel ur connection.

          Your urgent attention and sincereaction in this regard is needed so that these people stop playing with us.

          Mr Ratan.. this is the begining u will face so many problem like this...Once Ortel gave u connection they will never listin your. thy dont bother about customer complain. in bhubaneswar arround 1000 disconnection is happening every month due to the non service.

            Connection applied for - Digital STB connection - Platinum pack
            Amnt paid - INR 300
            Money receipt no - 53519
            Applied on - 15.09.2010

            A representative from Ortel comm had visited us on 15th sept and took the mentioned amnt . He confirmed to us that we would be getting the connection before 12 in the afternoon next day i.e.16.09.2010.

            Today is 06.10.2010 and i am yet to receive the connection.I have contacted the customer care 5 times in the last twenty days and everytime i had been assured that action would be taken and the connection would be provided in a day. On every call to the customer care centre i have been given false hopes and wrong information.

            I am fed up with this kind of pathetic service.

              We have logged a complaint against a dead line in our area(MALLIKASHPUR)since saturday the 7th of january 2012, but none of your officials are responding nor they r picking up our calls.this shows how irresponsible they are.and also their behaviour towards the customers need.Its being 48 hrs now that our area is suffering without a cable service.If this further continues then we will b bound to stop you from serving us.

Rajesh having Mobile no. [protected] . Amount Paid To Mr. Rajesh is Rs. 1000.00 for Broadband And Rs. 200 For Cable Connection.
                Sir Problem is that After several request on telephone and walkin i got internet connection on dtd. 02.08.10 after 20days of payment. but cable connection is still pending & on calling customer care of Raipur people says that we are trying & trying only. and some time people response very rudely.
                Mr. Rajesh never receive my call on his mobile. Now I am unable to understand what we have to do with such kind of peoples & companies.
                Still I hope that company will try to make connection asap .

                  psbanga actually u r getting it wrong ...
                  i[censored] take 256kbps speed connection that means its 256 kilobits per second
                  now
                  1Byte=8bits
                  so ur connection must provide speed of 256/8 KiloBytes per second
                  i.e. 32KBps
                  Kbps=kilobits per second
                  kBps= kilobytes per second...
                  hope u understand...
                  Too slow ...& that's not enough...always up and down connection...when we do some important work ...in between the time always up and down connection is making very rigid ...& always think that why don't we take BSNL connection...that is far better...from this..

                    cable connection from ORTEL — No proper service

                    While we exchanged the the connection of cable with the top boc we were assured that there will be better viewing of the channels. In the coontrast there is periodical switching of with the display no signal. while viewwing the program most of times the channel will be off the air. this is highly undesirable and not as per commitment with which we took the Top Box.
                    In Angul area Ortel is just cheating people in the name of Internet. the best example is my case. I got the connection 45 days after paying for the connection. but the problem does not end here,

                    I am availing the internet connection o[censored]nlimited package @ 512 KBPS on paper only, for which I have to pay INR 899/- PM. but for internet I am going to net cafe, because at the time of need it is not working. the so called representatives are not at all paying attention to the problem, which is again increasing my mobile bill.

                    Hence my dear friends please stay away from these ORTEL CONNECTIONS. and lets please circulate this to your friends relatives so that they can stay away from these cheaters.

                      I had taken a ORTEL cable and internet connection.

                      Initially they exchanged ORTEL set top box with my Set topbox on by back scheme, that i was using in Bangalore. after taking the connection they didn't provide me all channels as per the purchased plan (ORTEL HOME PlUS - http://www.ortel.net/services.asp)

                      After several times complaint about the channels finally they come back saying that my set top box is not falling their exchanges criteria because they were looking for set top box like tata sky, big tv etc.. not like local set top box running in bangalore.

                      But I told your marketing and technical person were recognized before it exchanged. (all these technical person had come physically to exchange the settop box)



                      After that i told them to take their setup box and giv me back my settop box. they told you have return it otherwise we will charge for that. I went to ORTEL office

                      One of most useless and fraud company i have ever seen. I am requesting all people of orissa plz dont subscribe any product of this company. They are making the people fool by using their muscle and money power.Go for TATA SKY, AIRTEL, BSNL or any other company but plz not ortel.
                      i have been geeting the servuces from ortel since1995. but the service has not been upto the mark. sending some popullar channel into the set up box . frequent increase in bill has been the draw back of ortel communications.
                      This Ortel company is better than other company comparing regarding DTH, as the offer price is very less. By payment of Rs.150 bimonth only for one year we can see most of the entertainment channel including english. Everybody should go for this plan who is having old set top box.

                        On recommendation of our cablewala, I contacted one Mr Srimanta Kumar Sahoo ([protected]) for availing ORTELS broadband connection. The Sales guy as natural promised me one of the best services in India and an uptime of 99% for the broadband connection. I wanted the connection to be fixed by the end of next day as i had to travel out a day after.

                        After a lot of calls to Srimanta, two guys arrived in the evening. They were merely interested in hanging the cable somewhere and vanish to which I objected. ORTEL had charged Rs 1250/ as cost of equipment and installation charges and here were guys who were not interested in installation. I immediately contacted srimanta and told him the problem, he conveyed that, cabling/capping was not part of installation and, I will have to do it through my source. I wanted to contact thier head of data services, but srimanta refused to give the number on the pretext of nonavailability. Finally, i was able to get the no of Head of data services Ms Rashmita and contacted her. She was also out of answer and simply told it was not part of installation to lay the cables properly. She even tried to prove that it was my fault as i did not ask for all details before booking new connection.

                        I soon realised that i have been traped and a bunch of liers are leading me to nowhere except more harassment. They were trying to avoid me and speak to me on phone or in person. Finally after a lot of calls and visit I managed to get my refund....

                        Therefore, My sincere request to all is to avoid ORTEL.

                          Sir,
                          I am a suffering customer of ortel broadband service. I wanted to get a broadband connection which i heard from my staff member that ortel is the cheapest broadband connection. The same day i got the company's number and ordered the service. The salesman promised to gaive me the connection in 2 days. But it took 5 days to get the connection. Also the internet was not getting properly . So i asked them to see any defects in my connection. Many service repairers came to my house and the 6th repairer repaired it. This took 15 days after i got the connection. So i beg all the citizens of Orissa that please do not try to buy ortel broadband connection

                          I have done a mistek by choosing Ortel Broadband service because they dont know what is service, the given coustomer care no is always saying busy and also they disconnecting our phone unless listing our quary.

                          They just cheate Odisha people .

                            I have applied for Internet service from "Ortel communication" in the month of May 2009 and deposited all the require fees. But later they did not give me connection because there is no such Internet facility is available in our part of my city. I have submitted all the documents for refund in August 2009, but still they are not refunding my money.

                              Ortel Broadband - A curse for Internet Users in Sambalpur!!!

                              Ortel even should not be given license for running organization since they do not have anything to be called as organisation.

                              1) Service is pathetic. customer care does not take phone call after ringing 10-12 times or numbers are always engaged.

                              2) Daily there is no cable or broadband connection at least 4-5 hours.
                              3) Broadband speed varies always sometime comes down below broadband limit.
                              4) Poor service - Whenever there is any technical faults, it gets rectified not before 2 days.
                              5) Customer service number is not accessible, always seems to be busy or engaged.
                              6) Poor response - We do not get proper feedback/communication from your customer care if there is any changes or in case of any problem.

                              Really guys! Let us pray before somebody terminates this organization

                              This Ortel Communication is providing very poor service. From installation to till date I didn't get clear and continuous broadcasting. Their customer care no of Raipur city never give any response and found always busy. I will definitely go to Consumer Forum.

                                The ortel communications has been providing the worst broadband service than any other broadband companies.Its customer executives do not have the courtesy to deal with the customers.Also since i am lodging complaints daily since 2 months but all are in vain.I am hardly using ten to fifteen minutes of broadband service that too only surfing and no download,with this i am getting the daily download as 60 mb as fixed.The field officers are also not even looking at me.Just like the slum thiefs they are hiding their faces and turning their directions.I have suffered a lot.I have contacted BSNL and i am uprooting the ortel broadband from my home in a shorter span of time because of their filthy service.Hope my complaint will be viewed by all and others facing this problem will also lodge complaints.

                                Ortel Communications — no service/extra billing

                                i had taken ortel dth connection in December 2010.but the cable line was absent inside the apartment.from December to may, i kept on giving complaints. technicians came from ortel and repeatedly told the same story that the there was no signal as there was no cable line there. finally in May i got an electrician and managed to do the job. the technicians came and confirmed it too. now we are threatened by the bill collection guy a sushant mishra who intimidates my wife in my absence. i have visited ortel office a couple of times and spoken to devanand mishra and soubhagya kar and so has my wife. each time they sent us back saying they would get back to us with the settled bill_with the correct amount deducted from the bill. the worst part is a fellow called babaji who came to give the set-top boxes on December 25 has taken my airtel set-top box. he is not returning it,neither are they settling the bill. this undue harassment has got out of hand and i need immediate redressal from the appellate authority.

                                  Recently I Have Taken Ortel Broadband Connection Plan-Ortel Economy A Person Came To My House To Tell Me About The Plans,
                                  When I Asked Him About The Speed He Said At Least The Speed Would Be 256kb/s
                                  But When I Took The Connection The Speed Is 40kb/s At The Day Time In The Night The Speed Is 10kb/s When They Give Free Download.
                                  And Even When I Saw How Much I Downloaded It Said 400MB In Only One Day,
                                  I Don't Think I Have Downloaded So Much.
                                  Please Help Me You Are My Only Hope.

                                    Hi,

                                    This is to inform that i have been using Ortel internet connection since about 4 months. I got a nice service in the beggining but now i dont get a proper service The internet is very slow. The people of the customer care are very rude and they do not talk properly. They say that there is problem in my laptop. If it is so, how is it possible that another internet connection in this laptop works properly?

                                    I just want to know that they will improve their behavior and services or will i have to withdraw from the ortel connection.

                                    From the first day of connecting the broadband connection. I am unable to get a proper connectivity. From the very day there is no internet connection. Its been 6 hrs now of complaining about the but still there is no progress.

                                      Beware Orissa Internet Users from the so called, Ortel Communications Ltd. or ORTEL Broadband. Never ever choose Ortel as your internet service provider. They are the most rubbish and worst broadband company to deal with.


                                      Here are few points why you should stay away from it :

                                      1. False Internet Plans and Packages with FALSE speed notations. You will even get 1/3rd of the claimed speed.

                                      2. Worst Customer Care. Untrained and Non-English Customer Care. Neither they understand clean english nor do they understand, what does LAN WAN means.

                                      3. Sales and Marketing Guys will run after you for giving you the connection , but once you get the connection, they will never pick up your phone, when connection goes out.

                                      4. Frequent Disconnection of internet.

                                      5. No stable bandwidth.

                                      6. The worst technical team to solve your queries.



                                      So, if you are from orissa and looking for a new internet connection, just dont choose ORTEL or you are just going to waste your big money in them.

                                      For a new Broadband connection There waqs two option either pay Rs 1200/- or exchange Modem (i[censored] have any modem with you) offer so I exchanged my own modem and took the ortel connection. after 6 months i requested to disconnect the line . They disconnected the line but didnot give my modem back to me.

                                      Again after 6 months I asked them for Reconnection. I paid Rs 800/ - They told as u have made advance payment, you wont get next month(january month) bill. But They have still send bill saying that it is February month bill . For example: I took connection in December 24th, they sent me bill on January 2012 .

                                      Please Put them behind the bars.They made commitment that you wont get next month bill as I have paid them in advance. Then how can they send bill.They are Fraud and Scam

                                        - I did not use internet services from 17th-31st Dec 2009.Yet my entire remaining download limit of around 600mb for the month of De 2009 was shown as used up by the ortel website.

                                        - I did not use internet services on 16th and 17th Jan 2010 being out of town and my connection being a modem-based i obviously can not carry it around.
                                        Yet ortelcom.com website listed 118mb of download against 16th jan 2010 and 269mb of download against 17th Jan 2010.

                                        - No net service available from 12pm - 6pm and 11pm - 6 am.This is a daily feature.

                                        - We were not given the starter-kit when we took the connection in August2008.After 3 repeated complaints of this illegal theft of download limit,did a person turn up in July 2009 who informed us about the starter-kit for which we did many rounds of the Ortel branch office at cuttack and are yet to receive it.

                                        - That person also informed we could have two concurrent connections with our modem.But everytime we would connect my laptop when the net was already connected through my desktop,the net would get disconnected and then for another half-an-hour we would not be able to reconnect.

                                        - Very rude customer service personnel.

                                        - Insider information about no Firewall installed on the servers of Ortel.No trained technical and hardware staff.

                                        Overall conclusion : Certainly not worth the money spent.being owned by a sitting MP who is obviously using his influence to not allow competitors like Airtel to enter the Orissan internet and Braodband market space.Its a disillusionary service.

                                        I had to send out the following mail as well to pacify the hoard of accusatory emails i received from Ortel Managment.

                                        Sir,
                                        You have completely mis-interpreted my review.Instead of ADDRESSING MY ISSUE, you have gone on to blaming me for allegations.My review had the only intention of conveying my issues.

                                        My apologies if i have hurt any sentiments.

                                        But you only tell me how is a harried customer supposed to respond? From past one and half years, we have been raising our issues with your staff.But got no response.

                                        And from your mail, i am more disappointed to receive such a accusatory mail communication from a highly-placed executive of your organisation.

                                        We are sure of no response to our issues now.So we have decided to discontinue using Ortel Internet services.

                                        We have several times asked you about your customer ID and waited for long time.As a executive i do care about customers and their feelings its only thing in common forum if a customer misguiding about facts and company for that only i have reacted but in a polite manner.But it seems you have no interest in continuing with us so not cooperating to get your problem resolved.Ortel wishes you best of luck for your future endeavor.I am extremely sorry if i have hurt you in any mannerThank you for being with us.
