I had subscribed to thehindu online for paper delivery on 24 aug 2017 with subscription id [protected] with credit card details for monthly deduction of subscription amount. Since they were unable to deliver the papers at my home, i had asked the customer care to cancel the subscription and provide a refund of the subscription amount already deducted which they agreed to. But even after cancelling the subscription, they continued deducting the monthly subscription amount of rs 99 for four months. Despite many complaints and mails, no money has been refunded yet to me, only further assurances from the customer care. This is highly unprofessional for them to deduct subscription amount without delivering the newspapers and then not refunding it even after admitting the mistake.

    I had subscribed for hindu paper on june 6th 2017 by paying amount inr 1549 reference id[protected] and start date was 16 june 2017 but after frequent callings i had received at end of june 2017, only till september end i had received the hindu paper, till date no delivery of paper since i was hospitalized i was unable to contact and my family members were not aware of where to contact, and no agent number was given to be contacted. Please refund the amount horrible experience from a national subscriber

      I have paid rs.799 by cheque towarsds subscription of tamil hindu. However i have not received the same till now. On 1st of februearu i lodged complaint a143549. I have contacted tollfrrno [protected].
      Ensure that paper is provided. Please ensure that non supply of newspaper is noted and cost of same is reduced in next year subscription or period of supply is suitably increased. My phone no is [protected].

      As this is a very simple matter it is surprising to see that you are struggling to resolve.

        After lots of hiccups, i managed to get four issues. two by hand delivery by Mr.Kiran and two by courier. thereafter more than two months have elapsed but i am not getting the issues. I reminded your representative in Hyderabad Mr.Kiran but he too could not help.

        I request you to kindly reschedule the subscription so as to minimize the loss of almost 3 months and irregular supply.

        I request the appropriate authority to take a note and revert back to me with a resolution failing which i would be constrained to approach appropriate forums with my grievance.

          Sir, i am an ardent reader of the hindu english daily newspaper for more than 25 years. I am residing in srirangam, trichy620006. One mr venkatesh is arranging supply of the hindu newspaper to my residence daily. On 3.12.2017 (Sunday), the delivery boy supplied only the edition 2 of the sunday paper instead of 1 and 2. On 4.12.2017, he supplied the edition 1 of sunday"s paper (3.12.2017) alongwith monday"s paper (4.12.2017). But i have not taken this matter seriously as error is human.
          Again on 25.1.2018 (Thursday), the delivery boy supplied the tuesday"s newspaper (23.1.2018) instead of thursday"s paper. I contacted the local distributor mr venkatesh at 8.30am on 25.1.2018 and informed the wrong delivery. He assured me that he will supply the 25.1.2018 paper within 1 hour. After 90 minutes, i again contacted him and he promised that he will arrange delivery before 1 pm. At 1.30pm, i again contacted him. Initially he has not responded my cell phone calls. Then i contacted him through my landline number. He got annoyed and informed me to purchase the newspaper from the local market. At this point i got irritated and told him that he should have given this reply at 8.30am itself. He insisted that he could not deliver the hindu english newspaper dated 25.1.2018. Then i reciprocated that i will make a complaint to the editor and see that your distribution agency is disturbed. He replied using the abuse language in tamil which i am reproducing as such. "unnala oru mayiraiyum pidunga mudiyathu." i got wild and advised him not to supply the paper from 26.1.2018 onwards. As such i have not read the hindu english daily newspaper since 26.1.2018 onwards.
          I escalated this matter to the hindu office of trichy edition on 29.1.2018 and registered my grievance. Though the assitant manger mr ramachandran initially promised to address the issue, has failed miserably stating that he has no business to pacify mr venkatesh. Hence this complaint.
          Resolution required:-the local distributor mr venkatesh should tender his apology for the filthy language he used against me, the hindu newspaper subscriber for more than 25 years. The mistake of the incident is puerly his. Thank you

          I am extremely sorry to note that my complaint adted 2.2.2018 is yet to be addresssed by the mighty organisation "Kasturi & Sons Ltd". It is quite strange to keep silence for long and it makes me to think that the said forum is a mere eyewash.

            I had renewd my newspaper subscription of hindu on november before the expiry. I am from bangalore. After 3 months of calling and emailing them several times also l had not received the news paper till today (30 jan 2018). I had asked them to cancel the subscription also they had not returned the money back. So kindly take action to return the money back and severe action against hindu so that they should not cheat the consumers.

              Dear sir,

              I renewed the hindu daily news paper of bengaluru edition in july 2017 for a further period of one year up to[protected]. Travel bag offered as gift with addl. Cost of rs.100.00. My id no. [protected]. By god grace i am receiving daily news paper.
              But, unfortunately, i am not in receipt oftravel bag till this day.
              My complaint registered on jan 13, 2018. Under no. A 133920 by the customer care and informed that executive will contact and resolve this problem.

              At least concerned executive will open their eyes through this forum and solve the problem.

                  It is really disappointing to see that no step had been taken to send the news paper to us even after reminding and complaining about it many times. You desperately made calls to receive the subscription but never bothered to send the paper. It is almost 50 days since the subscription is collected from us. I think this should be taken to the knowledge of the consumers for cheating the subscribers.

                        We have renewed our subscription for a year in september 2017 under your 50% off offer. We have been receiving the newspaper till january 10th 2018 and suddenly the delivery was stopped and the reason stated is “expiry of the subscription”.

                        Even after repeated complaints there is no one to look into the matter and resolve the issue. Should we call this another way of cheating the customers and making money in the name of “offer”?

                        Not able to contact any higher authorities as staff at other end do not provide with their number or mail id or any sort of contact...

                        The hindu - will be losing their customers in a big way if this continues.

                          My complaints on non delivery of news paper, registered on six occasions, have remained unattended and unanswered.

                          It is not surprising that you have a customer satisfaction rating of only 2%. With your don't care attitude for your customers, the days are not far when you will down to a big 0%.

                          Though you have not bothered to call back or mail me, i understand that you have issues regarding my payment. If it is so why have you kept quite for three months, when my renewal had become due in oct 17 and also renewed well in advance. (Your agents always collect the payment at least a month ahead). Even now, basic courtesy demands that you seek clarification from me rather than stopping the delivery of news paper.

                          It is appalling to observe your management system, nothing concerned with customers seem to work in your office. The number o[censored]nresolved complaints is a good testimony for your method of working. My suggestion please discontinue your annual subscription system, let customers continue to make monthly payment and deal with the local agents, rather than you, at least they will reply to me, unlike you.

                            This is in continuation to my previous three complaints of non delivery of the hindu, news paper.

                            This evening i received a call from your area agent to submit proof of making the annual subscription. This demand from your office is definitely absurd, expecting your customer to submit proof. Please let me know the purpose of your having local agent and an area in charge. It is your duty to obtain this proof from them and not from the customer. When the emphasis is on digital payment and which i have complied, you should have insisted on your local agent to submit all details and not penalise me, when the payment was made well within the due date.

                            Also i seek the justification in abrupt stopping of delivery of news paper, without any verification, or telephonic confirmation from me to this effect. This was not expected from an established news paper office of the standard of the hindu. It is very sad that your operating standards have fallen badly, as noticed by the casual response to my numerous call and complaints.

                            I demand an apology from the concerned official for the ignominy, that i have put to due to lack of professional management of your in-house activities.

                              I am registering my complaint for a third time, for non delivery of the hindu newspaper.

                              Inspite of the numerous calls to your office and to the agent, there appears to be no serious concern about a customer complaint.

                              Today i was informed that they are verifying my payment and even after two days they are yet to receive the confirmation from the finance group.

                              I have paid my subscription on 03 oct 2017 and been receiving the newspaper for over two months and now there suddenly appears to be a doubt on my payment.

                              In the year 2016, the newspaper was not delivered for full 5 1/2 months, inspite of my prompt payment. I presume the same might happen even this year.

                              Looking at the number o[censored]nresolved complaints i cannot expect a reply from you in the near future.

                              This is my second disgusting experience with a reputed national newspaper.

I haven't received the bag also which was on offer. Does it take 3 months for renewal. I am afraid of the services and may have to alert my friends on social media like facebook, whatsapp, apart from claiming refund of money.

                                  I have subscribed for the hindu newspaper in august 2017. Representative from the hindu (They refer them as rre) campaigned door to door on subscription offers, the hindu was offering yearly subscription at 50% lower price than other leading newspapers in bangalore city. I have the subscription receipt from the hindu. I received the newspaper only for 1 month. Since september 2017, i have not received the newspaper at all. I called thehindu customer complaint number, they do not provide me any complaint number for registering the complaint. They only say within 48hrs somebody will call me and sort the issue. After 2 days wait, some hindu personnel calls me and they always mention they have problems with their agencies and distribution of papers, they will sort it within a day and they will call me back next day to check everything is fine at my end. But these folks never call me back. Every time i call the customer complaint, the same story repeats, somebody from the hindu will try to convince me that i will get paper the next day, there is no way to trace this person or the complaint. After 3 months, the trick they play is by pushing it on me saying i have informed my local newspaper agent requesting to stop the newspaper. This is clear act of treachery that the hindu personnel are trying to avoid addressing the issue of not delivering newspaper and tryong to fool me.

                                  Really frustrated that a reputed private sector newspaper media company the hindu acts irresponsibly on customer complaints, displaying indifferent attitude and nobody at the hindu organization really works on the complaint. Am chasing them for last 4 months and experiencing the same issue, have not received the paper yet. I have also repeatedly requested them to refund my subscription money but they only convince me the very next day i will be getting my newspaper and this never happened.

                                  Sorry to say, mr. N. Ram chief of thehindu is totally ignorant of sorry state of affairs of their own organization's operational lapses and there is no concern for delivering value to customers. This is a message to mr. N. Ram and the hindu, don't cheat people with subscription offers and door-to-door selling, i do not have to lose my self respect and beg at thehindu's door step to get your newspaper.

                                  Thanks very much to the Consumer Complaints forum, The Hindu has responded and started delivering newspaper from Jan 15th. However, one problem still remains unresolved, this is regarding compensation from THE HINDU for not delivering newspaper for 4 months from Sep 2017 till Jan 14th 2018. THE HINDU personnel who has been speaking to me over phone in all previous instances now refuses to help, says he has no information about compensation and I need to go through same process of complaining to THE HINDU. When I argue about the lack of proper customer issue handling, immediately i get a response that automatically THE HINDU will deliver free newspaper for additional 4 months after my subscription ends. There is no written note from THE HINDU on how they would compensate for my loss. I will be happy if this complaint is also sent to THE HINDU customer support and THE HINDU Head office through the same Consumer Complaint forum. Thanks.

It has almost been 2 months and i did not receive them or any information about the delivery. I have emailed to the customer care for like 5-6 times.                                       I have been a subscriber of the hindu newspaper for the past 15 years. I shifted to a new apartment in bangalore around a year back. I have not been able to get the newspaper before 8 am even for a single day. I am staying in an apartment which hosts around 100 families out of which atleast 30 o[censored]s are subscribing to the hindu. All o[censored]s are office goers and we have to leave by at least 8.30 am. We get the newspapers regularly by 8.45 am only. It makes me wonder why i am subscribing to a newspaper if i am not able to read this in the mornings.

                                      I am writing to you because i am seriously fed up with complaining to the newspaper agency owner. His apathy towards the newspaper readers' agony just turns me off. His attitude is like there is no way an agent could be changed. He migh be correct in saying this, but please note the fact that the city is growing and more and more families are moving to new places. Unless the newspaper agent scales up to the service levels, there is no use. The newspaper boy seems to be more interested in inserting pamphlets and gaining extra money rather than delivering on time.

                                      Could you please take this complaint with utmost seriousness and do the needful?

                                        I am a regular reader of hindu (About 9 years). I subscribed for hindu tamil edition (Annual subscription) and i paid the amount rs.999 last week of november 2017. I was supposed to get newspaper from dec 1, 2017. I also got the confirmation message for the same and they called me to verify my address too; but i did not get newspaper from dec 1, 2017. I started calling customer care of hindu. They compromised me with different reasons for not delivering the newspaper. I waited with my extreme patience till 9th of december, 2017. After that i raised for refund my full amount since i dont beleive their words anymore. I talked to different customer service executives in chennai named, sunitha, sangeetha, etc. I also talked to the customer care manager mr. Mohanraj. He assured me that i will get refund in 7 days. I waited again for 7 days and then called the customer care to know the status of my refund complaint. They told it will take 15 days to get refund since it is a lengthy process. I waited for 15 days and then i called customer care again. They asked me to wait for 7 days again. Is it the way you treat you consumer like these? I never got to know hindu services this much bad before. Again i got a call from hindu (First time i am getting call from hindu, usually i call them), stating that i will get newspaper from 3rd january 2018 onwards. Come on, my complaint is to refund my money since i am completely fed of your services and the way you treat your consumer. Why do i need your paper anymore? Its been 40 days i am not getting newspaper for which i already paid annual premium amount rs.999. You do not need to deliver paper but at least you have to give my money back. I gave enough time and waited patiently. The lady who talked to me work in mogappair hindu branch. At last, she said we wil refund you if your refund request is accepted. What the rubbish is this? Another word she gave is "if refund is initiated for you, we will detect 1 month of subscrition money from rs.999 and the remaining we will give it to you." again, what kind of service you are giving, i paid the amount for newspaper and you are not delivering newspaper for 40 days and you are gona detect money for those 40 days and give my remaining money. What is the system for? Is it for you profit? I demand the explanation and my money back. I am ready to face in consumer court but being a loyal consumer, i patiently waited for you actions.
