I had ordered an Airtel Fastag for my vehicle KL54C644 on June 2, 2021 through Airtel App mapped to my mobile number [protected]. I had paid Rs. 450 for the Fastag.
I received an SMS on June 5 that the Fastag has been dispatched. After not getting the delivery for many days after this, I sent my first mail to [protected]@airtelbank.com on June 13, 2021 informing them of the same. They replied "We appreciate your Fastag purchase from Airtel Payments Bank. We would like to inform you that your request is under validation process. Post successful validation, the tag will be delivered to you in 14 working days. Further, please be informed that working days exclude 2nd Saturday, 4th Saturday, Sundays and designated bank holidays."
I kept raising the issue almost every day through additional mails. I have mailed them on June 15, 24, July 1, July 2 and many days after this. They always replied the same words, that I should wait more days. They also shared me the tracking details of DTDC (X[protected].
At 7:24 PM on July 2, 2021, they send me an SMS "Hello! Your FASTag for vehicle KL54C6444 has been delivered. Please go to FASTag section on MyAirtel app to activate your tag." I immediately and mailed also to Airtel informing them that the Fastag is actually not delivered, and kept informing them through mails and calls to Airtel Bank Helpline on July 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, and so on.
On July 4, 7, 8 and 14 they replied to me as “We would like to inform you that the shipment of FASTag hasn't been delivered due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Further, It will be delivered once the situation is normal.” I replied back to them stating that if Airtel accepts that the Fastag is not delivered, why is my Airtel App showing that it is delivered??? They never replied to this question.
From July onwards, they stated replying to me that “We would like to inform you that as per the system, tag has been successfully delivered on[protected] at the requested place as with consignment number X71693696.”
I have also raised complaints multiple times with DTDC, before and after they entered the courier as “delivered on July 2, 2021”. I have also raised a compliant on this forum on June 26, 2021 about DTDC not delivering this Fastag to me. So to escape further persecution, the DTDC staff has falsely punched in system that the courier is delivered on July 2, 2021, and Airtel has taken this as the proof that the Fastag is delivered, even though I have NOT RECEIVED the Fastag, and in spite of bringing this non-receipt of Fastag from as early as June 13, 2021 itelf, and not getting any help from DTDC or Airtel Bank, I have lost my Rs. 450, and added agony and frustration of continuously needing to complain to DTDC and Airtel.
On July 30, 2021, the Airtel Bank call executive called me for deactivation of Fastag because I have not received it. I pointedly asked her whether I will get full refund of Fastag money if I allow them to deactivate it. She told me “Yes, you will get the refund within 2-3 working days”. She was lying to me. Because right after I confirmed to her that they can deactivate the Fastag based on this promise, they send me a mail stating that as confirmed by me, the Fastag will be deactivated, and they will be refunding the SECURITY DEPOSIT amount of the Fastag. But the security deposit money if only Rs. 200, and the total amount I have paid is Rs. 450.
Requesting to help consumers like me get justice. Kindly help me get full refund of Rs. 450 because Airtel never delivered the Fastag to me, and I have been very proactive in bringing the issue of non-delivery to the Airtel Bank team, three weeks before the cheating of “delivered on July 2” happened. And they did not do anything at all to help me about this.
Airtel customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
