Citifinancial Personal loan

Ref. (1):- Personal Loan Account Ref No:[protected]

Sub:-Complaint for giving higher interest rate for Personal loan

Sir,
with reference to the above, I, the undersigned, Ajay J. Naidu do hereby state that I, had obtained Personal loan for the sum of Rs. 25, 000/- vide the loan account under reference no. 11721652 @ monthly E.M.I. of Rs 1, 424/- out of which I paid 15 installments through my bank account in ICICI bank.
I had taken this loan from one of the Citifinancial bank branch in Hadapsar, Pune Maharashtra. When I approached on 20th April 2007 to this branch, I met a lady named Ms.Bhagyashri, who was going to handle my case. She gave me to understand about the formalities and documents needed for taking the personal loan. I asked her about the interest rate she told me it will be same as for a personal loan for other banks. Then I took all the required documents to the bank and met Bhagyashri there, she than took me to Ms.Nisha and Ms.Ewa Jamwal, who were the incharge and took my interview for the same. I had also asked about the interest rate to them, they also told me the same thing as Ms.Bhagyashri has told me before (This all happened verbally as the interview was taken no written document was given. Also at that time the interest rate was 21% for most of the banks). Ms.Nisha and Ms.Ewa Jamwal took my interview and took my documents to fill the forms and complete the formalities. No one in the bank till now has given me the clear idea of what rate of interest they are going to charge me.
When they told me the EMI amount of Rs.1424/Month, I calculated the same for 36 months and I was shocked, I immediately asked them to stop the procedure and cancel my loan (this was before they had actually logged in my file. Still Ms.Bhagyashri told me that the file has been logged in, now we can’t cancel your loan and if you insisted on doing so, we will be canceling the same but you will be the defaulter of banks, and you will not be able to get loan from any other bank here after (all this thing happened in about a 15 minutes of time). Ms.Bhagyashri further explained me to take the loan and keep the money in my ICICI bank account for six months and than close the same without any extra charges. She further added that it will also give advantage to me for taking any other loan (As I had given them to understand that I am taking this loan for a purpose of down payment against a purchase of a property in the interview) Ms.Nisha and Ms.Bhagyashri also said me that, with less documents and less rate of interest we (The bank) will be sanctioning my home loan. So un willingly on 23rd April 2007 I agreed for this and took the cheque, because no one never wants to be a defaulter of a bank, and it was my first ever loan. I gave my first EMI on 5th May 2007
I took the cheque and deposited in my ICICI Bank account, as advised by Ms.Bhagyashri. I kept it as it is for six months, paid the EMIs. After six months I again went to the branch on 9th Oct. 2007 to close the loan. When I went there Ms.Bhagyashri, Ms.Nisha and Ms.Eva jamval had left the job (as given to understand by the bank officials). Than I met Ms.Vanita there, I explained her every thing what happned with me. After listening to me she replied to me that, the interest rate which the bank has charged is as per the market rate at the time I took the loan. I asked her when the interest rates has gone to 35%, she explained me in very unprofessional manner that the market keeps on going up and down. Than she insisted to me to take a TOP UP loan, which can help me to reduce the interest rate. The amount they told me for closing the personal loan of Rs.25000 after paying EMIs of Rs.1424/- for six months was the same near to Rs.25000.
After that meeting with Ms.Vanita, when I went to the branch on date 10th Dec. 2007 the branch was closed. To find out why suddenly the branch has been closed without information. I called the call centre of citifinancial Bank and came to know that because of many fraud cases done through that branch we had closed the branch (I am having a recording of the same on my phone). I had received the letter regarding the same after 21 days from citifinancial. Since than I am receiving call from the call center for TOP UP loan. I came to know that the branch personal has been shifted to the branch at Fatimanagar, pune branch. I contacted there to Mr. Rajesh, (another un professional person by his attitude and language) he also was insisted on me to take a TOP UP loan.

About Insurance Offer:
At the time I took the Personal Loan, there was an offer of life insurance from Tata Aig, totally free along with the personal loan (as explained by Ms.Eva Jamwal). As already I was having three to four insurances policies of LIC, I refused to take the same. Ms.Eva Jamwal explained to me that it is totally free and I don’t have to pay any premium for the same. In month June 2007 (the next month after my first EMI of May 2007) I received a Premium Laps Letter from Tata Aig Insurance. Again I went to the branch to ask about the same, Ms.Eva Jamwal said to me that, the bank has given the insurance policy free to me, but the policy premium amount has to be paid by me. I don’t understand, if I was going to pay the premium and if I was in a need of a policy, why I would go to a bank for the same, I my self would have called any of the insurance agent and taken out the policy. No answer or solution for the same was given by any of the bank personal. I had also called the Tata Aig Insurance; they had also said to me that no such offer had been given (for free off course) and if the bank has told you so they had lied to you.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I request you to look into the matter and give me the advice for whom and how can I approach for the same. Please do reply as early as possible, if not the same complaint will be given to Consumer Court.

Thanks & Regards

I was recommended for a Citibank Credit Card as a part of the Autocard scheme launched by Maruti Suzuki along with Citibank.I have been duped of Rs.45000 on my credit card via online transactions that have been used to purchase air tickets(3 of them on the same day and 2 on the next).I am in a state of total shock, I wouldn t have even come to know that these transactions have already taken place on my card until the end of the month, when they send the credit statement and SMS, but for the fact that i swiped my card at a petrol bunk and came to know that there is no credit left!!I have never used this card for transactions of more than Rs.3000 and all of a sudden someone made online transactions worth Rs.45000, i feel that when such big transactions or any transaction takes place they must atleast send an SMS to your cel notifying you.I have raised the disputes with Citibank on these transactions and they have told me that they are going to investigate it, but after reading some of the posts on this forum i realise that they might not take any steps to help me.And on these Autocards of Citibank they have written the C V V number on the bank which can so easily be seen by any merchant and noted down and the rest of the number he can easily get from the charge slip.(i was told by someone that on their other cards they don t print the C V V number)Is it so easy for anyone to commit fraud and make such transactions on anyone s name online. There seems to be no security with these cards. How do i proceed from here and whom do i approach for justice? Please help me.
    Ref: Credit card No.[protected].

    Sir

Please refer to my previous letter to Citibank about cyber crime taking place in credit cards of citibank. I am writing this to you as official complaint.

On 1st November i had received a call from Citibank fraud detection department that "some fraud is taking place in your credit card. The payments are being made to Bharti Cellular Limited in installments." On my denying this expenses, he than asked me whether he should block cedit card and issue a new credit card. I instructed him to block my card and told him not to issue new card unless this issue is setteled.

I have even lodged complaint to citibank call centre(NO.[protected]) and on their advice i have even sent(Faxed to Citi Bank Fax No.[protected], Extn No.2222), a card member declaration form to disputed amount.
The following payments are debited in my card.

    Date Merchant Amount

    31/10/2008 Bharti Cellular Ltd. 6397.98
    31/10/2008 Bharti Cellular Ltd. 5347.00
    31/10/2008 Bharti Cellular Ltd. 5269.54
    31/10/2008 Bharti Cellular Ltd. 3987.19
    31/10/2008 Bharti Cellular Ltd. 3711.41

There are two more debits of which the charges are under review, to Bharti Airtel Ltd. and the amount is Rs.250.00 + Rs.250.00

On complainting to Citi Bank Officer( one MR.Sreejith) on this issue on telephone today i.e. 7th November 2008, he simply informed me that nothing can be done as ultimately liability of making payment is yours. He even was not assuring any action which will be taken by Citi Bank.

I am attaching similar complaint made by a customer of CitiBank and the issue is the same. His complaint is that the similar case of fraud in citibank card, similar merchants name( Bharti Cellular Limited) and similar way to debit amount on a single day( Four transactions).

From the above facts it appeares that a systematic fraud is taking place and the payments are going to Bharti Cellular LImited. There are all chances that similar modus operendi is used to do this crime. I will try and find out further similar fraud in citibank VS Bharti Cellular Limited nexus.

Mean while I request you to take my complaint.

Please also advise me if any further information is required in this matter.

Please update me with any and all developments.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,

I am facing the same problem. My Citibank card was debited with 2 payments of Rs 25000.00 each to M/s Bharti Airtel Ltd (MCHEK).

I have put it up with Citibank in a customer decleration form. But am a little wary, after reading your story, that they will do anything. Lets see
I am a holder of Citibank Credit Card No.[protected], with a Credit Limit of Rs.18, 000. I was having a credit of Rs.17, 631 as on 02.01.2009. On 02.01.2009, I tried to book a bus ticket on Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation website online. However, while doing the final stage of payment, the transaction became invalid. I tried the transaction twice and then left it, as no amount had been deducted from my credit card account. However, today when I checked my credit card account online, it was showing a debit balance of -164. When I called up Citibank Customer Care, they informed me that I had done three transactions on ezeego online and that the same had been credited to my account. When I informed them that I had done no such transaction, they immediately blocked my card. However, they have informed me that I have to wait for another three days, i.e., until the transaction is credited to my account by the concerned firm, i.e., ezeego, and then the same will be investigated. I am really scared and confused as to what step I have to take about this now. Please advise me about the step I have to take, whether I have to wait for three days, or should I take any further action immediately.
yeah same thing happened with me . i was being charged by the CITI bank for some unauthorised transaction that i never made.
i filled CDF form and faxed it to their mumbai office, then i called them after 2 days to confirm whether they received that form or not, they said that they have received the form and need 45 days to process the application and will contact me to give the updates, they also said that the concerned department will call me about the updates on the same. but i never received a call regarding that instead i end up calling them for more than 15 times and they fooled me around every time i talked to the citibanker or his supervisor. after 55 days when i called them they told me that they never recived the CDF form and instead shouted at me. they told me that they don't hve any recors of any of the form with them. NOW please tell me U guys is this right?? i mean if a citibanker told me that he has received the form then how would u know that he hasn't?
they tell the wrong info every time u call them and fool u around with the policies and all.
I think this was the worst experience with any bank ever.
Atleast i can tell u that CITI has lost one of its customers forever, thats me.

Hi, my friend has a credit card with citibank. I have been handling this card on his behalf since first week of may ' 2008. The card holder (my friend) has undergone a magor surgery in may 2008 and cant handle all this. I started speaking with citibank as there was a high outstanding balance on this a/c. Before april my friend was making payments regularly. We wanted settlement on this a/c as he had to be out of job for about 5 months coz of surgery. It's now July and nothing has been sorted out . Since May every 4th day I have been calling citibank to check on the setllement status and trust me very time I call I have to explain the entire reason and all that I get to hear is sir I will take care of this a/c and send the request for setllement ( For God sake what was happening when I spoke with the previous agents'.) I now have contact numbers for all the billing teams they have and trust me since they work in different offices, one does not know what has other done, one cannot view what conversation I had with the other office and this I had to explain them everythime. Beginning of june I got a call from one of the billing team and a rep promised me that if I make a payment of 5000 for the cst then he will give me a rebate of 3200 and settlement after that . I paid this amount and the next thing I had to do was chase for the credit to be applied for 3200 and settlement status which I have been chasing till now. Then I get another call from another billing team who tells me to write a letter to us for settlement ( for god sake why didin't the other reps tell me till now ) . I sent a letter ( via courier) to a manager name Pooja Marwha in the billing team, and guess what no contact from anyone after that. Again I started chasing and after 2 weeks on chasing it someone tells me she has left the organization.I get a min of 5-6 collection calls and calls from billing team every day - no one will tell me whats the status of setllement but they will ask for payment - and when I tell them cant u read whats documents - to my surprise they ask me what happened. Trust me I have never seen such sick customner service. I have been chasing this with the bank even though this is not my card, i did not wanted my friend to get harrased as he is just out from a major surgery. First week of july I agan called the billing team and I had to explain the entire 1 1/2 month story again . The rep I spoke with said that I will offer you a waiver of 13% interest rate on settlement and a 2 year payment plan to pay this off. She assured me that I will get a call from their Chinnai team for confirming this. Guess what No calls and nothging happened. Today 8th July I called the same dept and spoek with another lady - Trust my the lady ws so rude - she just kept saying sorry this cant be done and did not even listened to me - when I asked for her manager she said wait and hung up the phone after 2 min. I called the same no. again and spoke with some one else. Guess what the guy told me the previous rep Neelam who hung up on me has gone for a break. Then I spoke with a manager and what she tells me is : Sir the bank has stopped giving settlement on the a/c's and the bank has the authority to decide any time.

I am sure the bank has no intention to help. To my surprise I delt with another bank for my friend and they waived off 1/2 the balance on the card considering what the situation is.

THANK GOD I DONT HAVE A CREDIT CARD WITH CITIBANK !!!

AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE I WILL NEVER ... MY ADVISE IS NEVER EVER TAKE A CREDIT CARD FROM CITIBANK OR DEAL WITH THEM.

In case some one at citibank want to look into the matter which I am sure they want the credit card no. in question is - [protected]

Citibank aggresively pursued me to take a Birla Sun Life Insurance policy, which will be linked to my credit card for monthly payments. Citibank made the payment for the first year. From second year onwards they kept deducting the monthly payments but did not pay into my insurance policy account. On checking my insurance policy account online, I came to know that the payments had not been made and my policy was in a grace period before lapsing.
I made the payment finally to Birla Sun Life after running from Citibank to Birla Sun Life for redressal. Even after informing and lodging a complaint to Citibank's call center for revocation of the earlier standing instruction they kept on deducting the monthly payments and also charging late payment fees for the same.
For three months I have been regularly calling them up but to no avail. They have withdrawn about Rs 20000 from my credit card, charged me late payment fees on the same and my policy seems to have relapsed (which means I will not be able to recover a substantial amount that I have already paid to the insurance company).
The harassment caused is more pain than the money lost. I wish to at least recover the unauthorized withdrawal alongwith the arbitrary charges they have levied on that withdrawal. Also, if the insurance company refuses to re-invoke my policy, then Citibank is the culprit.
Citibank has credited 17000 rs from my credit card as the premiums of my insurance.it was said that the insurance offered was free of cost and later without any permissions from me the amount was withdrawn from my credit card.I have made a decision to give the credit card.

A fraud has taken place on my citibank credit card, somebody did online transaction and made a payment of Rs.45000 from my credit card. I have requested bank to give me the details of payment and told them that these are not my transactions and nor did i ever gave my card to anybody so how come the details were leaked of my card. After the investigation the bank has come to me by saying that the transactions are all secured online transactions and is done by me, whereas i never did those transactions and they are not mine. I told bank that i will not pay the money because these are all disputed transactions and i want complete details of those transactions. To this the bank replied that they have only this much details that the payment is made towards BHARTI CELLULAR LIMITED and don't have full details on whose name or number the payment has been done. I told the bank that these details are not enough and i want complete details and iam not going make any payment of these transactions.
Kindly help me on this all above happenings as iam really afraid of the banks collection department who may harrass me for the collections.

Citibank charges 100Rs for walking in branch office & deposting cash or for other purposes. I would like to know, if banks are authorised to charge their customers for such silly things. Being their customers we are restricted from walking in the branch by charging Rs 100/- per walkin. I personally feel this is injustice done to the customers. I would highly appreciate your earliest response

The billing department of this company is highly inefficient and the general public have to bear the brunt of this!!
I made sure that all my payments are made on time. Yet they kept putting late payment fees and interest charges in subsequent statements. This kept happening in all the statements!!
I have my bank statements that prove that the amounts paid were credited to Citibank accounts in time. I also wrote a complaint to the Billing Department of the company...but as their reputation is, no action has been taken on that front. And they continue to levy faulty interest charges.
With the number of complaints mounting against them, I wonder if they really are concerned about there services at all!!

Citibank — Loan on credit card

I had a citibank-mtv credit card. I had also taken a loan of 1 lakh on my credit card and the loan was to be settled in 36 emi's. I have so far paid 26/27 emi's without any default. Now citibank all of sudden decides to end their collobration with mtv, hence they close my credit card. An agent called me a few months back and informed me that a new card will be issused and all the outstanding will be transfer to this new card. Unfortunately this did not happen. I now get a statement that my loan is closed and which did not approve of and also they have charged me for the pre closure. I have spoken to citibank about it and they seem not to care at all, only the collection agent keeps calling me and telling me that i did not pay. Please let me know what to do. Thanks

One of the World's largest Bank is again headed in trouble and this time in India.

This should be an eye opener for all businesses who are having Citibank Account and dealing with Inward International Transfers. In this particular matter, Citibank assured a very low commission rate to win Corporate business and in real banking transactions when they happened, they charged higher commissions without any prior consent from business. An application to register F.I.R against Citibank under section 420, 120b, 406 Criminal Procedure Code was submitted at Navrangpura, Ahmedabad police station on 21 June 2008 at 8:45 PM Indian Standard Time.

This incident happened with Gloscon Solutions Pvt Limited, a 100% EoU, an Open Source Web 2.0 Software Development firm and and a global leader in Drupal CMS implementation.

Citibank Ahmedabad Team, Head Office in Chennai and their Grievance Cell have not cooperated in this matter to provide right answers. It is notworthy that while Grievance cell was absolutely non-functional and did not act, Citibank Ahmedabad office changed 3 Relationship Managers(Mr. Himanshu Mehta, Mr. Biju Thomas, Mr. Yogesh Mehta) in span of 20 days in this matter. The newest manager Mr. Yogesh Mehta approached Gloscon Solutions Pvt Limited on 18th June 2008 and even suggested to forget the matter and look towards future while this appears to be a multi crore scam by Citibank. Himanshu Mehta, the first relationship manager on his 23rd May 2008 visit to Gloscon revealed that "Citibank system has technical glitch". World's largest bank having a technical a glitch that could be costing businesses millions?. Keeping the business customers in dark, Citibank has been ripping off its customers by charging higher commissions and not providing transparency whatsoever on this.

Gloscon Solutions Pvt Limited is an 100% EoU in Software Services business since last 1 year with its development center in Ahmedabad. Company is leading provider of Open Source Web 2.0 solutions to international clients and is also building nearly 40 web properties. Gloscon holds a current account (Gold Customer) in Citibank N.A. Ahmedabad since November 2007.

Citibank's initial relationship manager Mr. Himanshu Mehta promised the best competitive rates of 5 paisa commission from the IBR(Inter-bank rate) on every transaction during the account opening. IBR rates are determined by market forces and fluctuate day to day and by the second. This means that on any Inward remittance that gets converted to Indian rupees, Citibank is supposed to take 5 paisa commission deduction from that instance's IBR rate per every inward dollar and transfer the rest in Gloscon's Current account. E.g if $100 was transferred to Gloscon Indian Rupee account(assuming there are no other charges for sake of simplicity), and if IBR Rate at the time of conversion from $ to Rupee was Rs.40, Citibank would deduct 5 paisa per dollar and remit Gloscon current account at rate of Rs. 39.95 for every dollar. In this case, this would be Rs. 3995 credited to Gloscon's bank account. This is what should have happened legally.

It is important to note that when a remittance is done, Citibank just provides you instructions that $X was converted to your rupees at Rs. Y.nn rate. They do not provide you the time and IBR rate when conversion is done. This is where Citibank cheats as there is generally a significant fluctuation in daily IBR rates.

The matter came to light when Standard Chartered Bank(SCB) executives approached Gloscon Solutions Pvt Limited to lure the business and promised 4 paisa rate. Gloscon had recently got inward remittance of $60, 000 via Citibank on 2nd May 2008. So just out of curiosity, SCB bank executive was asked what would company get in account if same transaction was done with SCB compared to that which already had happened in Citibank. SCB calculations showed that Gloscon would be getting much higher amount in Bank Account if Gloscon had done transaction through them. The difference was huge – approx Rs. 21, 000 less in Gloscon account under Citibank transaction. If there was only 1 paisa variation between Citibank and SCB rates and for a transaction of $60, 000 – the difference should be Rs. 600 and not Rs. 21000.

Being concerned with the huge difference between the credited amount in Gloscon account at 5 paisa commission spead committed by Citibank against what SCB said Gloscon would have got at 4 paise deduction with SCB, Gloscon Managing Director, Mr. Roshan Shah spoke on phone with Mr. Himanshu Mehta of Citibank and sent him number of follow up emails to clarify the matter and provide the IBR rate for 2nd May 2008 as well as the time the transaction happened.

Finally, Mr. Himanshu Mehta made a in person visit to Gloscon Office on 23rd May and informed that the commission rate that was applied on all transactions was 15 paisa and not 5 paisa. Listen to the audio clip here. He even confirmed that all the past Inward international cheque remittance transactions in Gloscon Account were all done at 15 paisa commission spread. Ths was again done verbally.

In the same Mr. Mehta informed that Citibank System has a system glitch and he had written about the same to Corporate office via internal communication and he couldn't share that conversation. Listen to the audio clip here. This means that the system is unable to record the commission spread properly. Mr. Mehta was unaware that this conversation was being recorded.

Mr. Mehta clarified that that the IBR rate when 2nd May transaction was done was Rs. 40.64 while Gloscon got the remittance at the rate of Rs. 40.37. This was still 12 paisa more commission charged because 40.64 - 40.37 =27 paisa (and not 15 paisa). Mr. Mehta promised that Citibank would refund this amount. Gloscon Managing Director Mr. Shah requested Himanshu to put all this in writing.

On 27th May after phone reminders following up on previous conversation and few email reminders from Mr Shah to Citibank requesting to put things in writing, Mr. Himanshu Mehta provided details of 2nd May transaction of $60, 000 along with IBR rates for 2nd May. Mr. Mehta obviously had been doing his homework all along and also provided IBR Rates via email that mentions the IBR rates at High for that day 40.78 and low at 40.50. The Gloscon transaction of 2nd May was done at 40.37 which falls in this range with 15 paisa spread (40.37 + 0.15 = 40.52 which is slightly higher than 40.50 and hence legally valid). The time of transaction was not provided.

On 3rd May Mr. Shah along with other 4 Gloscon executives were at Citibank premises for their Board Meeting. Being a Gold Customer, Gloscon had a privilege to use Citibank Infrastructure for board meetings. In between the Board Meeting, Mr. Himanshu Mehta himself had said that there was an inward remittance yesterday and has hit the account. Mr. Shah clarified the rate with Mr. Himanshu Mehta and he said "You are only at 5 paisa spread - we offer the best rates" and Mr. Shah thanked him and continued witht he meeting.

On receiving 27th May email and going back to the conversation of 23rd May in Gloscon office and on 3rd May at Citibank Board meeting, Mr. Shah knew something was wrong and wanted to get to the root of it. One thing was clear that Mr. Himanshu Mehta did not keep his word of 5 paisa commission spread and the 15 paisa commission spread statement was made up. Why and what was going on? - was to be found.

Mr. Roshan Shah then sent email reminders asking Himanshu Mehta - the exact time when the 2nd May transaction was done and IBR rate at that time to be put on written record via email. While Mr. Shah already had the audio file of 23rd May in possession which Mr. Mehta was unaware of, Mr. Shah wanted to get everything clarifed in writing. Citibank did not provide this information. It is noteworthy here that Mr. Himanshu Mehta already knew that when the Gloscon Inward Remittance transaction of 2nd May was done, the IBR rate was 40.64. He has been witholding critical information till date from putting it in written form.

Based on just 1 transaction and with revelation of fact that Citibank had a system glitch, it was clear that Citibank system was a big mess that could bring out a larger issue in light. But giving benefit of doubt to Citibank, Gloscon wanted to validate whether this was just 1 transaction or this is a larger problem that could potentially be causing Gloscon and other businesses lot of financial losses. Number of requests were sent to Himanshu Mehta to provide the Transaction details of all previous transactions and IBR rates at that time.

Mr. Shah wrote to Citibank Grievance Department a number of times. Mr. Shah also escalated the matter via email to Citibank Head Office as well as officers listed on Citibank website for Grievance Redressal namely Ms. Anjana Makkar and Mr. Julio Ribeiro. None of them responded and not even the Chennai Head office bothered to make a single call to Gloscon Executives to explain the matter. Grievance Department kept sending different service ticket numbers on every email and V Mythili – Manager of Grievance Department kept pushing the matter back to Ahmedabad team asking Gloscon team to follow up with Ahmedabad team.

During this process the Relationship Managers changed from Himanshu Mehta to Biju Thomas to Yogesh Mehta and Gloscon Team had to explain the matter over to different people - again a waste of time. None of them was willing to help Gloscon in providing the details of previous transactions and time they happened along with IBR rate at that time.

After repeated follow ups, Mr. Yogesh Mehta, the third relationship Manager in 3 weeks made a visit to Gloscon office on 18th June. Yogesh requested to forget the past incidents and start a fresh relationship going forward. Mr. Shah insisted that he needed the past transaction and IBR details before he takes this relationship any further. Yogesh promised to furnish the details of all previous transactions in 2 days.

Yogesh delivered the printed copy of Transcation details and historical IBR rates on 21st June to Gloscon office. He however did not provide the details of the time when Transaction happened.

The result was not surprising at all to Mr. Shah. There were previous 4 Foreign Exchange transactions in Gloscon account since November not considering the transaction of 2nd May 2008. Result was shocking. None of these 4 transaction had even 15 paisa commissoin spread even considering that from the day's Lowest IBR rate. This proves the fact that Mr. Himanshu Mehta had cheated Gloscon and the 15 paise spread was never there and never promised. The fact is that only 5 paisa commisson deduction was promised(being a Gold Customer) and knowing the fact that 2nd May transaction for which Gloscon Executive Team continuously asked for details did not fall in the 5 paisa range, Mr. Himanshu purposefully misrepresented the rate at 15 paisa commission spread deduction which made the 2nd May 2008 transaction look legally valid.

Citibank Ahmedabad team of Himanshu Mehta, Biju Thomas and Yogesh Mehta never seemed to have intention to give 5 paisa spread and deceived Gloscon by false assurances. They are in business of cheating people. After Mr Himanshu Mehta promised to refund the difference amount during his office visit on 23rd May, Mr. Himanshu Mehta was again sent reminder by Mr. Dheeraj Dagliya – Director of Gloscon for refund amount on 2nd May transaction as well as all past transactions. There was no response in this matter and Citibank does seem to be gupling huge money this way. Himanshu later informed on phone that Mr. Biju Thomas was in charge and when Gloscon team tried to follow up, neither Biju nor Himanshu were reachable. Same was told to Mr. Yogesh Mehta on his visit on 18th June to refund the Money but he also said "Lets forget the past and lets form a new relationship"

Mr. Roshan Shah, submitted an application of criminal complaint under section 420, 120b, 406 of Criminal Procedure Code at Navrangpura Police Station against Citibank Head Office, Citibank Ahmedabad, Himanshu Mehta, Biju Thomas, Yogesh Mehta, V. Mythili, Anjana Makkar, Julio Ribeiro same day (21st June).

Obviously, it looks like Citibank has racked in millions and cheated many other clients across India. Citibank Acknowledged System issues, cheated the customer, promised refunds on difference but did not pay, Head office did not respond and they kept withholding information for a long time.

Citibank Head Office, Ahmedabad Office and all the persons above are accused for:

                          1. Breach of Trust
                          2. Jointly misrepresenting facts
                          3. Witholding and not sharing critical transaction details
                          4. Financial Fraud done despite aware of the fact that there was a system flaw and considering this if transactions were done manually, this would neve have happened. Citibank Executives purposelly committed this crime.
                          5. Not refunding the amounts that was wrongly and purposefully debited and Mr. Yogesh Mehta requesting to forget the past matter.

When you look closely at this issue, this probably would mean that many other companies would be ripped off by Citibank the same way!

                          Complaint marked as Resolved

Citibank Corporate Business — Citibank India - major Corporate Scam uncovered!

The time of transaction was not provided.

On 3rd May Mr. Shah along with other 4 Gloscon executives were at Citibank premises for their Board Meeting. Being a Gold Customer, Gloscon had a privilege to use Citibank Infrastructure for board meetings. Mr. Shah clarified the rate with Mr. Himanshu Mehta and he said "You are only at 5 paisa spread - we offer the best rates" and Mr. Shah thanked him and continued witht he meeting.

                            Hello,
When i had to travel to my client place, i have received a WTM (World travel money card) which my company has arranged it for me from the so called CITIBANK. When i have taken the card, i have given my passport's copy along with the application filled with the necessary details.

Now after i came back and contacted citibank for the refund of the amount which was there on my card as balance, initially they told me the pin number which i have told them is wrong and said they cannot do the refund. That i have verified and confirmed that in their mailing address they have the same pin number what they told. They accepted as their mistake. And this time they came up with a new funda saying in their system it has been entered as 'Male not 'Female' and they cannot refund the money as long as thats not correct. I have given the copy of my passport and properly filled application form and it was their mistake they entered it wrongly and i had to suffer for it. I literally had to blast on those people. Still there was no way and they asked me to send a fax mentioning the problem and they will update it within 24 hrs. So I had sent a fax addressing one mr. Sreenivasan (as told by those customer care people).Next day i called and confirmed that they received the fax and they will send the cheque.
No news for the next 2 weeks. Again i called up and asked. Again they told met he same reason of 'Male' Female. Then i told them about the fax i had sent. then they were not aware about such fax and they cant find any.
Now I really dont know how do i get the money back? If i rate banks for their service, citibank will never come in the firstn 1000. The worst service i have ever experienced. My experience is not only related with this card but also with the savings account and the credit card i hold it from citibank (As i didnt have a choice to opt for another bank as they have been given to me as salary account).

Can anybody suggest some ways to get my money back? How can i escalate this to some higher authorites?

                            Regards,

I have to completely agree with this person. I have sent request for 1 1/2 years to correct my address which they still have not done. When payments have been made they don't post them to the accounts. The account has been transferred at least 3 different times to different locations, not helpful or willing to listen to what you have to say. This company is one that I will never use again no matter if it is my last resort.

We had ordered a Kitchen Queen Toaster under one of the schemes offered by Citibank. The product was delivered to us on 28th May 2008. Following are the details of the toaster:
Commodity: Kitchen Queen Toaster P Code 931
                                Reference Number is[protected]
                                Shipper: 547050 (AVA Merchandising)
However, we were given a defective piece. The liver of the toaster is not working. We lodged the complaint with the customer care services the same day itself. Its been a month and even after innumerable calls to their customer care services, no one from their office has bothered to come and replace the toaster. Every time we call, we are given a date when the executive will come from your office to replace the toaster. We are still waiting.

Reg: My Credit card No [protected] and your bill dated 18/04/2008

I had dropped the cheque for the said payment of Rs 1084 being the payment for the above card drawn on Syndicate Bank Sir P C Road branch Bangalore on 04/05/2008 itself ( the due date being 05/05/2008) at your LalBagh ATM centre . But the said cheque was debited to my account on 14/05/2008 and in your bill dated 18/05/2008 you have debited the late payment charges for the delay in making the payment. similarly on 04/05/2008 i had dropped a cheque for rs 2000/- which has been received by you on 17/06/2008 as per your sms

It may be noted that I have not delayed the payment but the cheque was sent by you belatedly. I tried to contact the customer care centre I was told to give the particulars of the transaction which I could not recollect then, hence I request you to kindly reverse the late payment fees and oblige

This is to bring to your notice that your legal department sent a heart breaking notice asking me to pay Rs.28,285.24 ( CREDIT CARD NO [protected]).

First of all I informed your recovery people who comes home and people who calls regularly, that the was cut and sent back to your Mumbai office the moment I received the card. The card was misused by theft and sending me statement to pay the amout. How is it possible? While the purchase is made the charge slip is to be signed by the card holder. You have not given any copy of the merchandose copy. You can always verify the signature with my signature on my application.

You people regularly come and disturb my wife while I was away, in fact she was threatened when she wa alone. I cant understand these rediculous things. You people should have system to detect the fruadlent card user. For somebody's misuse you have ruined my life and send notice. When the card is not in my pocession, how the card is being used? Is it staff in your department has misused? It came in paper two years back that people working in ICICI credit card section are detecting cancelled card and misuse the card. Why not I be one of the victims?

Further, your sales guys are really tourchering call every now and then asking us to apply for credit card. You cant force people to do the same. Actually one Mr. MAHA SIMAN ( [protected]) ICICI REPRESENTATIVE approached me to apply for the card for his sales target and once the card issued it can be torne and sent back. I did the same. For doing the favour I was put in a soup. I suspect this guy also who would have misused.

The notice sent by AADRASH LAW FIRM REF:11053 dated 14 Feb 2008.

You sort out this problem and see that I am not penalised. I am true that I dont have pocession of any ICICI credit card and the credit card was not used even a naya paise.

Citi send us a statement after several years of not using their card stating we had a $20 credit. After receiving this a second month, I used the card to make a $50 purchase and then received a bill for $55 with no mention of the previous two months credits of $20.
I paid it and then received a bill for $71.30, paid that and am now receiving harassing phone calls and bills ranging from $17 to $47?!?!
No reply to letters concerning this matter although I did get a letter telling me I must request a form to cancel this account. I did that, got the form, mailed it in and the bills still continue to come with phone calls.

I found the follwing comment on another board concerning Citi Card:
                                    [protected]:21 am UTC
As an ex employee of Citibanks credit card division in South Dakota, I can tell you, we routinely sat on card payments for several days just to make them late. They would sit for sometimes 7-10 days in our payment facility just so we could triple your interest rate and charge you an insane late fee. I was terminated shortly after I wrote the South Dakota Attorney General's office reporting this illegal practice.

Do NOT DEAL WITH CITI CARD.
i have given the total amount which i have to give but now also citi bank has put up my namein cibil.

I had 3 credit cards. I am a resident of Nashik since 1999. At that time there was no collection centre in Nashik for citi bank. Whenever I paid them they used to charge 100/- outstation cheque charges and also were adding interest on that. Inspite of complaints they did not care. When I stopped payment, they came for sttlement. An amount of 15000/- was agreed which I agreed to pay in two instalments. This was 2 yrs back. I paid 5000/-. With in 15 days i arranged for balance 10000/-. I called them to come and take the payment and issue me a letter but they did not turn up. I called thrice in the mobile no. of Mr. Shinde, the Nashik agent.
Now they have put my name in cibil. This is not fare. They should immediately remove my name from cibil and take the money and sttle my account.

It has been months when i hv been exchanging emails with Citibank regarding inadvertently listing my name in CBIL list. While the bank has bank has written an apologies letter to me and even accepted to the fact that there are no out standings my name continues to show in CBIL. Firstly, i do have any relationship with Citibank, still my name in their borrower list and secondly even after receiving an apologies letter my name continues to appear in CBIL. I don't understand what the bank will get by harassing individuals like this ? Request if this could be looked at the earliest pls.

We run a software company - Gloscon solutions Pvt Limited and have a Gold Corporate account with citibank. We were told that we would be charged 5 paise spread on IBR rate on international fund transfer. We kept getting wires but never bothered to check the rates.

A competitive bank came and gave us 4 paise offer and we gave them a ref transaction to check what would we be getting in INR if we were to do this through them. The difference was whopping Rs. 24, 000 on one transaction itself of $60K. We followed up with Himanshu Mehta their relationship manager in writing on this and seeked clarification. We were told that we were put on 15 paise spread!!!

We still asked for the IBR rate for that date and the exact time the transaction was done and the same for all previous transactions as we realized that all this time Citibank was ripping us off. Even after repeated email follow ups and even writing to their ombudsman, no response was provided.

During this period(of 30 odd days) their relationship managers kept changing from Himanshu Mehta to Biju Thomas to Yogesh Mehta. Himanshu Mehta who assured this rate and even put 15 paise spread in writing has gone underground and transaction details are not provided.

Citibank Grievance cell has also not responded. We are now looking to take it up with RBI Ombudsman.

Same is the case with us and we feel that we are duped all the time by banks in foreign exchange transactions. Severe complaints with banks yoeld no results and it seems that our hard earned money is being cheated away by banks in foreign exchange dealings . Please get back to me and lets see what we all can do jointly
