[Resolved]  Airtel — Rejecting Valid IMEI number

I have a motorola z6 phone and I am also facing the same problem. I sent a request to airtelpresense but there was no solution offered from Airtel. They just said according to the list provided by TRAI to them my IMEI number is invalid.

Though the intent behind this is right It all looks like a scheme trouble valid customers as they have not thought any good solution for them other than coughing up money.

hey!airtel where did u get those imei database? according to numberingplans.com, my imei[protected] is valid. but airtel u have sent me my imei is invalid. pls improve ur imei database!
why should i go for 2 get new imei, as i hav really a valid imei? i need solution

i think its a fake complin simply to charge money. dont follow it

Same here I have Motorola Z6.. I have same problem. Service provider Idea Cellular.
No one is taking the responsibility. Can anybody help in this?

I also got the same message from airtel..my imei no is [protected]..SOMEBODY please help the customers...

I'm also surprised that Airtel couldn't recognize any of my phones! I used a one year old LG VU and Airtel sent me a message that I've an invalid IMEI and I should pay 200Rs (ofcourse, to a Govt authorized agency!!) for a new IMEI.

Then I switched back to my old cell phone (Sony Ericsson) that my parents were using for past 3 years. Still Airtel has blocked outgoing calls now, only incoming are allowed. I'll talk (i mean fight, as always) to Customer care tomorrow again... it is just frustrating that they couldn't recognize the same phone that they had allowed earlier. Until last week I'd fight with them regarding unwanted so-called 'value-added-services'/robbery even after signing up for Do Not Disturb!!

As with others, both my IMEIs are reported as valid ones by numberingplans... I'm just venting out now, will update the status tomorrow.

I have purchased a Fly company phone with dual sim and dual IMEI numbers. on 12.11.09 I received the message that my IMEI number is not valid and I have to get new IMEI by paying Rs 199. I think the data base of AIR TEL is not correct. M/S BHARTI AIRTEL please look in to the matter and rectify your data base

yes... same here.. i also received a similar message and i have valid nokia phones. i sent sms to 121 (IMEI space first 8 digits of imei) and got a reply saying the imei is valid. When i called customer care.. they are not sure of what to do and even if we try to explain them, they just say go to registration centre or hang up. I also talked to the registration centre fellows on phone and enquired ; they clearly mentioned that the registration is only for korean/chinese phones and not for branded phones like nokia. They are able to understand but not the airtel customer care reps.

Even am facing the same problem. I bought Motorockr Z6 at Univercel, Mysore. My IMEI number is [protected]. getting message from Airtel that my IMEI is invalid. Not sure how to go ahead with this issue...

Airtel is sending messages that i have invalid IMEI no. My mobile model no. BR711 and it has valid IMEI no., but i got message from airtel customer care that my IMEI number is invalid.My IMEI no. is [protected]. My Mobile no [protected].

it is saying my mobile IMEI no. is valid. plz. look into the matter.

i m using motorola rock z6.i ma also facing same problem of getting invalid imei number even my imei number is register i have contacted with airtel gallery but they have said its only for china moblie and told me to meet near motorola center plz help me out get me some solution as early as possible.

Same here, I have a valid IMEI number for my Sony Ericcson as well as China phone. Airtel has rejected the IMEI of both these phones. This is not the firts time Airtel is cheating customers. Similar incidents ahve happened in the past regarding talktime plans where they will suddenly stop giving full talktime and they pocket the excess money. Looks like after Tata Docomo has come into the market, Airtel is looking for cheap ways to make money. Imagine 50% of the Airtel customers paying 200 buck, definitely the amount will be huge in the Airtel accounting books at the end of the financial year. I have decided to change to Vodafone which is much more ethical in terms of looting money from cutomers. What a shame A.R, Rehman is actually promoting such a company.

i have a LG KG 195 mobile and my the airtel show that it has a invalid IMEI number.
LG is a brand company and not have a invalid IMEI number.
Now i m where complain for this

there is no problem at all with the IMEI number.

I have a motorazr V8 phone with a valid IMEI no. I checked the validity on numberingplans also & its very much valid... however today Vodafone has disabled my connection saying i need to register- they are not willing to take any responsibility or give any solutions even when i told them that i have a valid IMEI no... i cant understand how they can harass genuine customers. Not sure which database they are using to deactivate the connections.

My Moto rokr Z6 also banned by Airtel. When I send IMEI details to Airtel, they replied that it is valid IMEI. But from Nov 30, I am not getting GSM service from Airtel. If even such a big company can not distinguish IMEI's validness, it's a shame for the telecom sector and it's professional. I stopped using my Airtel connection, rather I bought a new connection with other service provider and bought a new basic mobile phone at low cost and It's working fine.

I completely agree. My Imate PDAL phone is also being rejected by Airtel now.
