Vodafone — Delay in converting the postpaid to prepaid
I was a vodafone postpaid mobile consurmer. Recently I noticed that this particular mobile company has been showing step motherly treatment towards the postpaid consumers. We, the postpaid consumers are being treated as milking cows since the company doesnt change the tariff plan inbetween the billing dates. Whereas the prepaid consumers are given the priority in terms of new plans and ease of migration from one plan to another. I have noticed it when the vodafone introduced the 75 paisa all india STD to prepaid users. Whereas this scheme was not available to postpaid users till recently and by that time prepaid users were offered 50 paisa local and 60 paisa STD. I am still paying one rupee STD. When I have requested them to converst my mobile subsription from postpaid to prepaid on 16th Oct 09, the Vasan Vihar Vodafone store people informed me that the number will be migrated with in 24 hrs but now after 5 days they didnt do the necessary and I have been going around them three times since then. Their attitude towards the postpaid subscribers is really disgraceful. This doesnt suit a multinational company that boasts of international standards.Vodafone — Free SMS
Dear SirReg: My vodafone No.[protected]
I have been paying an additional rent every month for availing 500 SMS per month right from the time I took connection in May 2009. This is mainly because I use SMS quite frequently and also to make use of the facility during festive seasons to wish my friends and relatives.
However, on 14.10.2009 i.e. just before Diwali, I received an SMS from Vodafone which is as under:
"Hello, this is to inform on 16th & 17th Oct (Deepavali) SMS rates will be charged at regular tariff rates. Discounts/ Promos on SMS are not applicable on these days"
This is mere cheating and they cannot withdraw my right to send 500 SMS at the eleventh hour for which I have been paying the rent every month.
I request your goodself to look into the issue and take up suitably so that innocent customers are not cheated anymore.
This is a common practice followed by service providers nowadays. The postpaid customers are the cash cows - the service providers especially Vodafone understands that people are reluctant to change their mobile number (especially the postpaid customers) and therefore do not feel necessary to provide these customers any additional benefits.
A simple comparison of the postpaid tariff plan (lowest rental) with the prepaid shows that the postpaid customer gets almost nothing for the monthly rental paid; compare this with a lifetime prepaid customer, who gets the same call rates, and in some cases lower than postpaid, and has to pay no monthly charges. In other words the postpaid customer pays the monthly rental (min Rs 100 plus) to avoid the hassle of balance top up as in prepaid.
Previously Vodafone tried to retain its postpaid customers but now they don’t care.
This can only change if the mobile number portability is implemented without furthur delay.
