I bought a Godrej Window Air Conditioner in April 2011. Initially, being a new customer, the person for installing ht A/c came promptly and installed it. He also called back after a few months to get an update on the proper functioning of the A/c. Last year we got the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) done on the A/c for four years, which is valid till 24/April/2016. This year, expecting them to call on me early, by themselves, I waited then logged a customer request on 13th April, 2013. Two days later a service technician arrived and after checking the A/c reported that the refrigerant gas had leaked and needed to be filled. As the A/c was in AMC we would not be charged for the Gas and another person would come and pick-up the A/c to be taken for refilling of the gas and then returned to us. Two days passed and no one came, after which I called in to check the status of my complaint. They said that this would be looked into, and again another service technician arrived the next day, again stating that the gas had leaked and the A/c needed to be taken to their Service Center, near Laxmi Nagar, and it would be returned the next day. Still no one came till in time. I kept getting updates and calls that someone shall visit, but no one came to pick the A/c. After more than 10 days, I kept getting assurances that someone shall come to pick the A/c and when asked they said, there is no fixed time. Are we supposed to sit all day waiting for someone from Godrej to come, as if we have nothing else to do and are sitting idle? The air-conditioner again had the gas leaking and this time they replaced the front A/c coil, which resulted in a charge of Rs. 4700/- to us. This time we felt that the A/c would work for the rest of the season, but then again on 8th August, the gas leaks. Is there no quality for the product? Is Godrej being such a large company producing such sub quality products? And that too offering such slipshod service also? My friend suggested going to Consumer court and logging a formal complaint against them. I am still contemplating on that idea.
I remember earlier, many years ago we had bought a Godrej single door refrigerator, and in that too when there was a problem, it took many-many months and a whole stack of letters/mails for the issues to get attended to. I wonder, if this is the way a company of this size functions, selling the products with absolutely atrocious and callous attitude at After Sales Service. I might have to reach a decision never to recommend Godrej appliances to anyone I know and even desist those from buying a Godrej appliance, if this quality and attitude continues.
