Hi,

I have been having a tough time dealing with India Today group ! I subscribed for Mens Health in Nov 08. Initially, they did not acknowlede the receipt of my payments for a month, even though the payment for made using my credit card. Later when that issue got resolved, I was told that I will start receiving copies from Jan'09.

When I did not receive my copy till jan 12th, I raised an alarm and their customer care replied that its in transit. So i wainted for a week more, but no copy was delivered. Hence I contacted them again and now they say they cannot do anything and I have to go thru www.wecare24x7.in !! I have no problems following the procedure, but the problem is that they are so lethargic in their replies that it kills ! For instance, I requested wecare24x7 to create my online account so that I can file my missing copy request, but they have not created it till now, even after 5 days !

I did the biggest mistake by subscribing to them. I think it would have been much better to pick up the copies from newstand !

Below are the replies I got ! I must have exchanged almost 20 emails with them, and all turned futile ! Pathetic service ! Should I do a chargeback and finish off the matter or will the senior authorities take some action ?

Today is 10th feb and I am still without any information !

I have no idea what I should do...they have failed to deliver january issue and they are soon going to miss the january issue too.

Such a pathetic service...They are here to fool people !

I truly agree with you...I have faced similar problem a year ago...my copies were not delivered for 4 months ! They have a very careless attitude.

Yes, it is true, the service is very very poor.

India Today — Non delivery of subscription

I have paid a full subscription of ITE 3 months ago, Since January the delievries have been irrelugar. Being delivered 2 weeks late or not being delivered at all. After several mails and letters I got exactly 2 issues on time since my subscription started. I have been in correspondence with the company for the last 2 months..All to NO effect. Now sadly I have not been getting my subscriber copy at all for the last 4 weeks I have given up writing to the company becuase they are neither willing to investigate the matter nor take action against the erring delivery vendors. At the end I have been put to a loss becasue of the total lack of commitment on part of Living Media publications. On enquiy there are several others in the city who are suffering the same. It is like a racket where innocent citizens are being made to pay for subscriptions without getting any copies at all. I live in Kanpur. My subscription number is ITE14914. CASE ID 2239562.

India Today Group — non delivery of health kit

dear sir, I booked the rebok health kit on 30th september and paid the amount 3199/- by phone banking ,i was assured that i will get the kit with in 15 working days but till today i have not received the goods.
I am also experiencing horrible with 'India Today' . I am cheated by this so called 'reputed publication' after obtaining a huge amount towards 3 years advance subscription for their English 'India Today' . They sent me one defective and useless wrist watch as 'free gift' and subsequently stopped the delivery of the publication also. It becomes necessary to send a e-mail reminder every week when they deliver one obsolete edition i.e.: almost 2 weeks after its actual availability which they were very perfect until I was subscribing on yearly basis. I have not only spent about Rs.200/- for return of the defective watch at their advise, delivery of my copy is completed stopped since last 3 weeks as I stopped reminding them. I shall certainly be initiating legal recourse for this cheating but I want to caution others not to get lured by so called girfts or reduced rate of subscription from such publications.

          I have purchased some 3 packages from India Today Book club on Feb 24, they delivered the first package after 1 month. Due to some reasons I had to cancel the remaining two orders, and I got the cancellation order number in the month of March. They assured me that the cancelled amount will be credited back in my account within 10 to 15 days. Since then it has been 4 long months and there has been no response from their side.

          I do not wish to address this mail with any salutaion and hence pls excuse me for being curt, rude and straight

          This is shameless and completely unacceptable that a book club of your repute and stature is employing qualified thieves, liars and .
          I wish to place on record the conversation that happened with my husband Mr Sanjeev Kumar Julka on 02.03.10, the call came from the number 45188600 informing him about his being selected as one of the top 15 names who are being rewarded by the book club. Upon detailed disucssion it came to light that if the customer buys any two products he would be ASSURED OF A CHEQUE WORTH RS1 LAC from the club. To this the customer asked as to how come the company is offering such a big amount without any reason and the girl on the other side promptly and confidently replied that pls don't doubt or worry it is actually true. She also confirmed that after placing the order my husband would be receiving a confirmation mail on his mail id regarding the same which obviously did not arrive even the next day. To this my husband callend on the call c entre number PH No 40502424 and naratted the whole incident and a staff confirmed that there is no such scheme going on and this is a lie. Please note that the order nos given were[protected] amd[protected]. My husband was totally shocked and horrified that the amount had been debited from his credit card and he had been duped he immediately placed the cancellation on 03.03.10 and the nos given were 392083 and 392067. The call centre informed that the money would be returned after 21 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. It took two seconds to debit the amount and is taking 21 days for you to return a money that was taken by your fraud employee.

          I am not writing anything else but a copy of this is being sent to the crime branch of CBI to investigate and round up the fraudster calling. I will make sure that the guilty are punished and dragged to the court of law for making a fool out of people who trust and are loyal customers. Pls do not try to send me any free gifts to close this call since this matter is going to be brought to the notice of many such authorities including the consurmer forum. I am agitated and aggrevied at this and demand immediate return of my money and the organisation must deal with such employees very stirctly and harshly.

          On Oct. 8, 2010 I got a call from India Today Book Club telling that I have won a gift hamper and will have to pay Rs. 7498/- thru my credit card to avail the same at discounted price. I gave them my credit card no. and on being asked thru IRB machine fed my code. After that they told that I will get a gift voucher of Diamond jewelry worth Rs. 15000/- . Then again they told that the gift voucher is being increased to Rs. 30000/- and I will have to pay Rs. 10998/- to purchase a Mobile Set from them.

          Sensing trouble and feeling that this is a fraudulent call, I told them that I don't need the offer and want to pull out of this. They told that the amount has already been debited from my credit card and it can't be canceled. I disconnected the call. Thru this complaint I want to inform all to keep away from this type of schemes lest you may be cheated.

            I'm also experiencing the same problem with India today Book Club. I have purchased from India today book club for Rs.764 but the gift of adidass bag and round trip air tickets not given to me. when i go through the web site as per their advice to register and collect the gifts, there is nothing to register and everything is fake. after that i've contacted customer support for help and submitted all the invoice and unique codes also but there is only mail reply regarding provide everything to collect gifts on behalf of me but till date i 've nothing received. It is going more than 3months. Neither travel vouchers have been recived neither adidas shoes have been delivered. Its all fake. Friends be careful, India today book club is making us fool.

            India Today Book Club — Cheating Customers

            I was a customer of India Today Book Club since 3 years. I Used to purchase books from them. Each time they provide a gift with every set of books which we buy but to tell the fact these gifts dont apply at all. if you try to redeem it. It will never happen.I have called the customer care([protected]) and informed them too. they never helped and sometimes they just disconnect the call. They just put these advt to attract customers.Never believe INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB. The quality of paper(ie BOOKs) is like the paper of a rough book(recycled one).
            till now i got one gift from(i.e reebok bag).They have informed that it is a brand piece of reebok costing 400.I'm not blind to distinguish the difference between brand item and local item. the bro took that bag to carry his sports items for an athletic meet next day by god's grace he had two pieces of the bag. this in turn will spoil the name of brand company reebok too.
            I called them to block all the SMS's and emails they send to ma number and to id but they dont do that too. They just want to irritate the customer. Very soon i'm going to show they how a customer will react to the false promotion given by a company.

            I am a member of ITBC they offered me various offers howeverthey do not send me I also refund a pack of C.D. of Aghtha chrishtri however money was not refunded me so far after assuring by sms

            sir, I ordered reebok shoes etc.by phone .I recieved through v.p.p..when I opened the parcel the product was different.I complained about it they asked me to return the parcel ,I did the same but I could nor reciev my money, I have written everybody since than. Is there anybody who can help me?
            I have ordered one set of Reebok shoes and sandals. but received two parcels and they have deducted twice in my credit card, stating first punching of credit card number not successful, so they asked me punch again.
            So i refused to accept the parcel from courier. This was happend in the month of May 2009. i have made complaint through their customer care(total useless). till today, my money not credited back.
            Now a days, Customer care (delhi number, not toll free), no body answers after 30 minutes on music.
            Please do not buy any items from this shop. Some times, customer care executives half of the way, used diconnect the call intentionally.

            India Today Book Club — ITBC Is cheater

            I had ordered a harddisk on 29th Jan 2010. For which the money was charged to my acct on 2nd of Feb 2010. With that hard disk, I was supposed to get free reebok wallet, keychain, watch and the holiday/airfare.

            On 12th Feb I was told that the order is in process.

            No delivery till now. When I asked the status on 24th Feb 2010, I was told that the product is out of stock and they are refunding the money. Still no refund as well.

            But when I saw on BagItToday on 3rd March 2010, the hard disk (which is supposed to be out of stock) is still being sold. Many more are going to get conned and frustrated just because of this junk of a company.

            Seems like ITBC is trying to lure some customer in buying that product, to refund me my money.

            Dont fall for such gimmicks.

            I fell prey to the ads by India Today Book Club & placed orders for a Samsung Mobile Handset & a Fitness Kit. I was promised a free holiday voucher worth Rs.5000/ for a couple for 2N3D anywhere in India & a one way airline ticket on purchases. However, after I received the packages, I tried to log onto their promo page but the page itself was not available on the internet but instead I was directed to the complaint page automatically where I came across 100s of similar complaints from all over India that the India Today Book Club has either sent them faulty products or not responded to their complaints or same as my experience. Moreover, their customer care tel no. is attended by a stooge who does not have any useful information about their operations & is instructed only to irritate the callers.
            I wish to ask them a simple question : YOU ARE A REPUTED PUBLISHING HOUSE. WHY DO YOU INDULGE INTO THIS SELLING FIELD WHERE YOU DON'T HAVE EXPERTISE OR BRAINPOWER?

            Hi,

            I am Sujata Garimella.

            Like you, I too trusted the India Today name and had ordered stuff from ITBC. My experience was awful. I did not get what I ordered for. I did not get the promised "extras". And I did not get any solution either.

            This whole nightmare started in September 2009 for me.

            To top it all they still keep calling me.

            I plan to sue them for Rs. 10 lakhs. I have started an action against them and would like more victims of ITBC's dirty tricks to join in because there is a lot of strength in numbers.

            I got Rs. 2lakhs wortht diamonds as prize through a luky draw conduct by Indiatoday bookclub.
            They call and ask me to pay TDS and they will send gift items for that amount.I paid Rs. 14,500,R.585 & Rs. 585. After hat they call me and ask me tosend Rs. 6,500 or the delivery charges for the gift.I got the gift 2 pair of Reebok shoes,2 pairs o Jeans, 2 pair of T-shirts,2 pairs of sun glasses againt Rs. 14,500.2 pairs of wrist watches each against Rs.585. But till today I didn't get any voucher for Diamond. They said that I got it within 15 working days. What will I do ?

                i dnt noe why india today book club took 1200 rs from my credit card without even informing me!!!
                i never placed any order and i dont noe how to contact them..i jus gave a order a few months bak for 800 rs and i gt whatever i wanted. but i have no clue abt why thy took 1200!!!

                  I paid Rs 2729 including postal charges for an offer which included india today subscription for 1 year +20 cds + reebock shoes(2500) + diamond necklace(5500)+lottory voucher(60Lakhs+holiday voucher... of which i received only 20 cds...

                  I tried as given "Claim your Free gifts "i failed to login, contacted Delhi India today marketing office, they informed book club is their sister concern, directed to contact them on mail given as [protected]@indiatodaybookclub.com, also on [protected], i failed miserably to get any response from them

                  i tried out with all the numbers given in the invoice...
                  If you really dont have intention to cheat people do reply to this mail.
                  What is this complaint resolved and see your email? How do other readers know how the issues were resolved? Unless the responsible guys come out, I'm sure the mis trust is going to last.

                    India Today Book Club — Cant access their web site to claim free gift

                    Gosh! what's happening to our country. Always had the highest of opinion for India Today but then this was too much. another reputed company of which you should beware of is Club Mahindra memberships. Another reputed company taking us for a ride

                    India Today Book Club — Unable to access their sites

                    As of many I too have placed an order for a best seller pack against India Today Book Club's offer of free adidas bag and free round trip air tickets for two persons. The actual offer price was Rs.499/- but on delivery I paid Rs.699/- plus VPP charge Rs.35/- (Total Rs.734/-). As per their instruction booklet came with the parcel I tried severally to log on to their site to provide the ITBC membership number, invoice number, unique code etc to claim the free gifts but even after 15 days i have not claimed any. I also called severally their New Delhi number but whenever I call they are telling "there is some technical problem" and further they are asking me to log on to their site after 48 hours. Some one please suggest me, is that possible to go legally against India Today or not.

Instead the Invoice mentions that to claim the free adidas bag & holiday voucher gift we have to log on to www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm within 60days of the invoice date but to my surprise the said site does not exist. When the remittance was already credited to India Today Book Club, why the bag & Holiday Voucher was not send alongwith the set. In this scenario, if you are not able to log on to the site, one is sure to loose the bag & holiday voucher. This simply seems to be an eyewash. There are already 630* complaints against this company. Has the company ever thought how this in turn going to affect the reputation of the company? It's one kind of cheating.

                          As per the instructions given in the letter enclosed with the CD's I have logged on and entered the details mentioned for which I have not received any message in my email nor through postal correspondence.                             Yes I have finally received the two vouchers (holiday and return air fare) after over a month (despite claims of sending the same within 10 days) and that after multiple phone calls from my side to big city!!!

                            However, I am not going to utilise the same as I have decided to take legal action against INDIA TODAY for cheating and harassing me.

                            For your info, the vouchers sent by big city have long expired even before I received them. Secondly, big city is asking me to send DD of Rs.7, 000/- with the flight voucher and also a DD of Rs.899/- with the holiday voucher !!! How then is this scheme FREE???

                            It is thus that I have decided to go to court with me case. As it is, you peope do not seem to understand my complaint, neither is there any sincere effort to resolve my problem as is evident from the silly responses you are giving below in response to my complaint.

I have been an avid reader of your INDIA TODAY and MEN's HEALTH magazines for the past so many years and I have a regular subscription to both these magazines. I would like to bring to your notice how I am feeling cheated by INDIA TODAY book club offer.


                            I was sent an offer on 22nd July (mail is attached below along with the offer as attachment). As per the offer, I was promised a free 2 nights / 3 days holiday along with free return air ticket at select destinations in exchange for my procuring a set of 12 books from India Today Book Club.
                            I immediately availed of this offer after going thu all terms and conditions and made payment of Rs. 2, 598/- for the books imemdiately thru my CC over phone thru your executive.
                            I was informed that I shall be receiving further instructions after receiving the books.
                            Upon receipt of books, I followed the procedure as specified in your website to avail my holiday voucher and flight voucher.
                            As per procedure, I sent the filled up forms to Bangalore on 28th August for both holiday and flight voucher.
                            I was to receive the vouchers within 10 working days, however nothing came for the next one month. Upon repeated calling to Bangalore, I finally got my flight voucher.
                            To my utter shock and surprise, I am informed that I have to now send a DD of Rs. 7000/- towards airprort taxes, etc. along with the select destinations !!!
                            Please note that this was never communicated to me during any of my converstaions / correspondence with your executives whilst going thru the offer.
                            I thus feel that someone has cheated me of my money and time and I thus seek your help.
                            I must also point out here that I have not yet received the holiday voucher !!!
                            I am enclosing the procedure as well for your reference.
                            Please also note that thru my reference, 20 of my friends / relatives too had availed of this offer and now all o[censored]s are feeling cheated as no one had informed us either in writing or verbally about the Rs.7000/- extra payment.

                            I am writing to you as all my efforts at reaching customer care have gone in vain. Even the person who provided the original offer is not answering our calls.

                              During the period I tried to log on at the given site number of times but failed to get any result. The Helpline executives not only bluffed but also misbehaved several times. In nut shell I have not yet received the gifts as assured for which I have already paid. Since the matter require examination under consumer protection act and also negotiable act-138 against cheating and fraud through Telemarketing by the India today company, it is desired to provide me the gifts as assured, otherwise I will be compelled to approach the legal forums at your cost and risk. It is also worth mention that the necessary filled up profarma for HOLIDAY accommodation is already sent on[protected], at the Banglore as instructed.

                              The enquires also revealed that company is cheating through telemarketing as number of customers have complained towards non receipt of free gifts on the site.

                                I have got an sms on 12/11/2008 about a so-called Order no. 0GA[protected]WHY MARS AND VENUS COLLIDE) with total order value of Rs 574 to be paid in cash on delivery.
                                The order is fake. I did not order it. Since it has not reached me as yet, I want the order to be cancelled IMMEDIATELY. I shall not pay for it if it arrives ar all.
                                2) The sms does not mention the mobile no. of the sender, i.e. ITBC). So I had to go through Google search engine to come to this site to lodge this complaint. I want this company ITBC to take note of this complaint and take URGENT action to stop sending the unknown book(s).

                                    I ordered Reebok gift pack on India today book club referred from News paper, and odered the same on feb 6, payment made by credit card, but as promissed by ITBC i didn't received any gift pack till 7th of may, i collected gift pack by going personally to post office and after several followup .

                                    But when i opened the pack its was not what promissed to me, while booking order ITBC Executive told me that if i pay by credit card they will be sending me additional gift of reebok valet and key chanin set.
                                    but it was not in th epacket.

                                    One more thing i want to bring in your notic, the quality of the goods they send is very bad, not worth at all.
                                    if possible please stop them making advertisement in newspapers and stop this fraud business, where they are taking their customer for granted and just making money with no services.
                                    i am sure everybody gets shocked after receiving their product, consumers beleive them because they are using the name of India Today.
                                    This is clear case of forgery.

                                    Through this communication, I wanted to share “dismal” customer experience that I am experiencing since last one month.

                                    On July 2, 2009:
                                    I received a call from India Today sales team and placed a order of Rs 5943/- (one holiday voucher, ). At the time of booking, I was told that all the gifts would be delivered within 21 days. I was also give the order tracking number: [protected] against this transaction.

                                    On July 07, 2009:
                                    I called up India Today book club customer care number @[protected] to check status of above mentioned order and to my surprise Mr.Azim Khan told me that the order was not processed yet and would be processed in 1-2 days time. He also confirmed that above mentioned order tracking number should be used for all the future reference.

                                    On July 9, 2009:
                                    Given that extended one week window was expired, I again called up same customer care number and spoke to Mr. Azim khan After mentioning the order tracking number, I had to explain Mr. Azim Khan about the issue I experience in details. As a response, Mr.Azim khan told me that the order was confirmed on July 13, 2009 with order no. 0GA[protected].

                                    On July 17, 2009

                                    I called up India Today book club customer care number @[protected] to check status of above mentioned order and to my surprise Mr.Azim Khan again told me that the order is not shipped yet, but it will certainly be delivered by 23rd July 2009.


                                    On July 20, 2009


                                    I called up India Today book club customer care number @[protected] to check status of above mentioned order and to my surprise Mr.Azim Khan again told me that the order is not shipped yet, but it will certainly be delivered by 23rd July 2009.
                                    I asked Mr. Azim khan to transfer the call to his senior, he transferred the call to Mr.Justin Fernandez
                                    he again told me the same thing. To my knowledge Mr. Azim khan is a subject matter expert (as that's what he told me) and Mr. Justin Fernandez is a Team lead (as that's what he told me) but both were not able to provide any information as to why is it causing so much of delay to ship the order.


                                    After so much hassle, and spending my time and money on follow-ups, I am banking on this mail to get at least some tangible answer and response.

                                    I hope someone would look into this matter and come up with the solution.

                                    On the basis of an SMS recd. by me, I booked for a KODAK CAMERA 9.2 megapixal and on the bsis of a call recd. by me from the book club a sum of Rs.5298/= was debited to my ICICI Cr. card No...9000 on 31st Oct. 2009 fvg. Living Media.. The debit inf. was furnished to me by the bank at 1.01.41 PM
                                    Though I was promissed delivery within 10-15 days, NO INF IS EVEN RECD. SO FAR. Their toll free No. is always engaged and I had to call on other Nos. few times for not getting any proper reply. Last week I talked to one Mr. Rohi on ph:[protected]ext.314 as told by him) and he told that he would check and inf. me the positionarrange to despatch if not domne. Today I contacted on the same No. again and got somebody who told that Mr. Rohit was on leave and I slould contact him tomorrow. When I informed him that I am not interested in any more item and he should arrange send the Camera & other promissed vouchers immediately, he disconnected the phone

                                      I have received 4 CDs of music today as part of the Booksbuddy offer for which I paid 699.00 by VPP. CDs were earth 95007, wind 95008, water 95010, space 95011. All the CDs are damaged. There are gaps in the recording. This is extremely disappointing from a trusted name like India Today. Apparently we are being sent damaged product for which I have paid 699.00 rupees. I would like that these be replaced immediately or the money be refunded to me. This is cheating consumers. I am sure corrective action will be taken on the matter soon.
