I have had the worst experience with MakeMyTrip. Their system failed on me when I was trying to book tickets but they went ahead to deduct money from me. It has been 5 weeks but they are not refunding the money despite me calling and writing in so many times. I highly encourage everyone to stop using their portal not only for booking travel packages, but also for any kinds of domestic or international flights.They are robbers and espouse dishonesty in every sense of the word. Be warned!
This was the last letter I wrote to them (with clear booking IDs and call IDs mentioned):

Dear Make My Trip,
It has been a most exasperating ordeal that I have been put to go through with Make My Trip. A simple booking over your platform has evolved into a complete nightmare with over 20 emails being sent, over 5 hours wasted in calls speaking with Make My Trip’s staff who played on my trust and never delivered their promises, and the mental trauma and frustration I have been subjected to while following up incessantly on this matter for the past 5 weeks. The repercussions of Make My Trip’s ineptitude extend beyond Make My Trip and it has reduced my trust in online vendors in general.
On 12 January, I attempted to make a booking for a flight from Sharjah (SHJ) to Muscat (MCT) for 10 Mar 15, 08:20, G9 114 using my Singapore Citibank Credit Card. Due to an error in your system, my credit card was deducted not once, but twice, for this failed booking. As a result INR 19, 336 [SGD430.73] was deducted twice from my credit card, ie. INR 19, 336 x 2 = INR 38, 672/- [SGD861.46]
Immediately when this happened, I sent an email in to Make My Trip ([protected]@makemytrip.com and [protected]@MakeMyTrip.Com) informing your company of this erroneous deduction and reported the two failed bookings (booking IDs: NN[protected] & NN[protected]
On 17 January, Make My Trip refunded INR 18, 807 x 2 = INR 37, 614/- [SGD786.02] in my account. It’s puzzling and questionable why
(a) A partial refund was made instead of a full refund
(b) It took Make My Trip a whole 5 days to make a refund (even then a wrong refund)
As a result of Make My Trip’s incompetence in handling refunds, I had to call in again requesting for the remaining amount of INR 529 x 2 = INR 1, 058/- to be refunded. On 29 January, INR 529/- [SGD11.22] was refunded to my account. Once again, it reflects on the ineptitude of Make My Trip’s staff for refunding only half of the full amount of INR 1058.
Following this, I called again innumerable times, each time speaking to different Make My Trip travel specialist, each time being put on hold for a minimum of 15 minutes before finally getting connected to a speaking human being, and each time listening to false promises about having the remaining INR 529/- refunded. This entire ordeal for no fault of mine.

A few observable points:
1. Clearly, a pending refund amount of INR 529 remains (from booking ID NN[protected]
2. As a result of the inordinate delay in refund, there has been a considerable loss at my end due to currency fluctuations. Upon analysis of the statement, even though an amount of INR 19, 336 (INR 18, 807 + INR 529) has been refunded, the total refunded SGD amount is coming to SGD 404.23, whereas an amount of SGD 430.73 was initially deducted. Because of Make My Trip’s blip in the system, I have been wrongly debited of SGD 26.50 (approximately INR 1, 270)
This process has been an extremely taxing and frustrating, to say the least. I have written in umpteen times to Make My Trip and called so many times and spoken to your various travel specialists (Ms. Vadana Negi, Mr. Prashant (ext no 8203), Ms Karishma (ext no 2450), Mr, Nitish (ext no 8216), Mr Abhay to name a few) who have all but delivered empty promises. The last call I had was with Mr. Abhay on 23 February (Call reference ID:[protected] who promised that the refund will come within 48 working hours, which clearly doesn’t seem to be happening.
This is not merely an issue of money, but of me wasting so many useful hours over a simple matter that was caused by a glitch in your system, and more importantly, of the dismal and severely disappointing customer service Make My Trip has rendered so far.
I fail to understand why have I been made to suffer for no mistake of mine, why I have to follow up with calls and emails when I am promised a resolution in a set time frame, and why all my requests have fallen on deaf ears. I’ve never seen an inefficient and flawed an online travel company as Make My Trip and I assure you that this is my last time ever using Make My Trip.

In reference to your complaint, we have validated the case and found that, on your request for the refund of your onward segment due to re-scheduling of the flight, we have raised the request with the airline and airline has provided a refund of Inr 182 only with a refund reference number#[protected]. The same we have initiated from our end in the original form of payment. We request you to please provide the stamped document from airline, which states that you are eligible for refund.
