As a first time flyer, thought of taking help from the customer care while making a payment, called them and went through the entire process, i told the executive that i want to go with Rs.48813 which i have searched 5 minutes before, he searched and confirmed and went explaining the refund policy which i acepted and came up with a figure of Rs.54917
He generated a Booking ID, sent a link and i made a payment through the link. I recieved the confirmation and invoice which says the total fare inclusive of all, but no breakup such as refund policy which i opted, base fare, fuel taxes etc. If this is the case they can raise the invoice with any amount and cheat the customer which happened in my case.
When called the customer service and explained my scenario, they simply say "Air fares change every minute" and the executive might have charged when the fare was high at that particular moment. Also, the customer support told me to submit the proof to [protected]@makemytrip.com that the price was Rs48813 at the time of payment.
As a customer, I do not have a proof of the price at the time of payment as I trusted the site and its customer support, but i could take few images of the website which still show the price of Rs.48813, even after several hours after the payment. Infact, I was monitoring the prices on the website a day before the payment, on the day of payment and the day after the payment and the variation of the prices were very minimal around 100 or 200 with the actual price around Rs48813 .
I understand that fares change but not the way happened in my case. I was also able to make a payment for Rs.48813 when i was paying through the website on my own on the day of payment and the day after.
If this company has minimum ethics of doing the business, they should investigate into this issue and pay back the variation and take the necessary action against the executive who booked. Such people get a bad image to the company. As customers we do not have time to keep complaining/blaming the company unless we are correct.
Had I gone through the website for making a payment I would have saved around Rs.5000. Reaching the customer support has costed me 5000, which is funny for the people who read this..

Updated by sivap33 I have enquired about my fare with the airlines directly and received the Itinerary receipt which shows fare was Rs48913 which is inclusive of all the taxes.
The customer representative has charged me Rs.54917
Had I gone through the website the charge would have been Rs.48813 or 48913 which was inclusive of all the taxes.

Updated by sivap33 One of the representatives said that the loss has been tagged against the agent and the amount will be refunded within 5 working days.
I don't see any amount refunded yet.
