I gave my ICICI ATM/Debit card to the cashier to pay for my bill for INR 1999. First he swiped and said that his machine responds with message 'Transaction unsuccessful. Please try again'. Since this is the first time for to hear such thing about my debit card since the time I started paying my bills using debit card some 6 years back, I said 'Please try again'.

Another person on the same counter adviced him to use another swiping machine. This time the transaction was successful and I got back my card.

After 2 or 3 minutes I got two SMS from ICICIBANK saying that two debits were done on my account for 1999 INR. When I said the same to the persons at the counter, they said 'Only with your consent we swiped for the second time. We can't help'. I was really shocked.

Immediately I callled ICICI customer care, explained the situation and asked them to check the last transactions. They said there were 2 successful debits for the said amount.

When I told this to Pothys people, they easily said 'Its usual only. This happens very often. Most of the times, the extra debit will be reversed by the bank itself. If not, please come to us. We'll give you a letter on our letterpad saying that the amount was credited to us only once and not twice'.

These words gave me a litte confidence. Still, I filled a complaint with ICICI bank as well to take necessary actions to get my money back. They gave a Service Request (SR) number and also asked me to get a proof from Pothys for non-credit to their account and to send the copy via FAX to[protected].

I also went to Pothys admin office to complain about this situation. They asked me to wait and meet someone called Mazooth.. But for my disappointment, he didn't showup to me. They later got all the details of the bill, payment receipt and my contact address, mobile details and told me to come the next day.

Today I will be going to meet them to resolve this issue.

Now, my concerns are
1. Since Pothys people are aware of this problem and had seen many such cases often, they should have taken some action to completely get rid of this issue either by sorting out with the concerned BANK for any technical issues.
2. If they had used the right machine for the first transaction itself, this problem would've not come. I suspect they purposefully did this, knowing completely well that the first machine may give such problem. They should have removed such machine. If they are keeping it and just playing around with customer's money, it highly comdemnable.
3. This problem has created deep worries in my mind that I will have to run behind bank and Pothys people to get my money back. This has caused me overhead and slippage from my daily schedules and lot more concerns.


I would strongly recommend the readers not to use any cards while purchasing at Pothys, Chennai.

I'll update again once the problem is completely solved and I get back my money.

    We have gone to Pothys for purchase on 24.10.10. We have select the garment and billed. When we have to go to pay for that bill, there is huge rush because of Diwali. All the customers got tensed and scolding the billing staff. I am also in that crowd. The staff in the billing counter said commonly that don’t raise in your hand against me. So I have taken off my hand. But some other customers keep on raising the hands and he collect the cash from them and I woul keep on waiting. So again I raised my hand to give cash. Again he scolded me individually and told “ kaiya edumma”. I told that you have collected from others and made me waiting so that only have to do like that. But again he said roughly that what could you do if I didn’t get money no longer. I said that I’ll just go out of the showroom. I have no need to get insults by you. Talk with respect. We haven’t come here without any other go. For that he had told then why you came here?

    So we can conclude that Pothys is a good showroom but the staff there worked like this fellow will spoil the growth of that shop and hurts the customers without meaningful. We can see there some other pleasing staffs also. But I never met such a person anywhere. He is unfit for this job. Pothys Management should take action on that person who was in the ground floor cash counter nearest to the staircase. (The mistake I did was that I haven’t noted that man’s name

    Pothys — Stealing Fuel

    Hi

    Three weeks (i.e. 25th July 2010) back me and my spouse went for a shopping at Pothis Textiles, located at Usman Road, T. Nagar, Chennai. I have parked my two wheeler in their designated parking (this show room has exclusive two parking). I had filled in my tank on the said date. After shopping, we have taken our two wheeler and proceed to home, Crossing abt 200 mts, i could see the fuel indicator was in red and fuel regulator was turned to reserve position. I suspect foul play by their security / employees (the employees used go to the parking area to relax, to have a tea etc).

    Will the management take serious note of this and ensure from the fuel stealing by their employees or security contracts??

    Pothys — Faulty mobile

    I have purchased a Voiedeocorn A55HD mobile from pothys Trivandrum show room. The advertisement of specification and features shown as internal storage a 4 GB. but the mobile phone have only 1.69GB. What I have to do for the replacement or compensation .
    I am Dr Suguna (MBBS, MD) working as Assistant professor in a medical college, Pondicherry. We had been to Pothys, Pondicherry on 17.10.2014 around 5 pm with my friend who is also a Doctor. After our purchase in the garment section for about Rs 1500, we went up to the supermarket section (fourth floor) to shop for our discount money of Rs 26/- But during the process of looking for Rs 26, we ended up purchasing items for Rs 478. When we came to the billing counter, the biller who was a female with a blonde hair, checked and billed our items. When the bill was about to be printed, i realised that i didn't provide her with the discount bill (Rs 26). Sooner i intervened and gave her the bill, for which she denied to include in the original bill (Rs478). When i asked her politely about what can be done now, she gave a very sarcastic reply " ADHELLAM INCLUDE PANNA MUDIYATHU, BILL CLOSE PANNIYACHU" . Then i asked her again what can i do with the bill now, she again said rudely and sarcastically in Tamil, " ANGA POI YEDHAVADHU CHAAT ITEMS VAANGI SAAPTUKONGA". After the final billing, we had to receive a balance of Rs 22, for which she gave a POPPINS worth Rs 2 without our consent and put in our bag. We were really pissed off with her bahaviour, and again purchased a KIT KAT dark chocolate worth Rs 25 in exchange for our discount coupon, and we still had a balance of Rs 1, for which she replied " INNUM Rs1 BALANCE IRUKU, YEDHAVADHU THINGS EDUTHUTU VANGA". We walked out of the supermarket since we were irritated by her foul behaviour. We also complained orally to the customer care in the same floor. We also registered a written complaint in the ground floor and spoke to the incharge person.But no actions have been taken yet.
    The very purpose of lodging this complaint is that,
    1. the bad behaviour and arrogant attitude of the staff should be dealt with
    2. it showed the height of disrespect towards people
    3. if educated people like doctors can be humiliated this way, then wat is the state of poor illiterate people
    On first week of march 2015 we purchased a few sets of dress from POTHYS, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, KERALA for gifting to relatives. Since we wanted to give the facility of exchanging the items; we packed the items in different packs and got the invoices stapled with each packet.

    We went to the gift coupon counter in ground floor for collecting the supermarket gift coupon. One lady staff was chatting to a male across the counter and the second lady staff was doing something on the floor. After waiting for some time; the first lady staff asked me to remove the invoice from the packet for scanning the bar code; I told I don't want to remove and mix the packets; She said rudely, she cannot give the gift coupon without the invoice removed. I went near her and asked why she cant scan; and demonstrated; how it could be. She rudely said it is difficult and prepared to scan. However, the other lady who was meddling something in the ground stood up now and stopped her; and said, they cannot scan if the invoice is not removed. Then she said, they wanted it to be removed by customer to avoid complaint that the staff damaged the invoice!!!. I had no choice, but to raise a complaint with some guy in a top floor; He telephoned and spoke to the ladies; however, it appeared to be appeasing the ladies. Later he sent an escort with us to the counter assuring that the invoices would be scanned without being removed. However, on reaching the counter the second lady plucked the invoices rudely and scanned. I ENJOYED THE TREATMENT.
    I bought a Kurta from Pothys Trivandrum and the colour went off with my sweat and spoiled my dhothi. When I went to return it the staff at the exchange counter started abusing me.When I asked for the superiors he said everybody is in Thirunelveli!!! When I went to complain it to the in-charge, the security told me that he went for lunch. When I told him I will wait he told me that he may not return (he told me first that he may be back after 1 hour only).

    The reason they told me for not returning my money is that for cotton clothes colour will wear off when washed and that too not much, but a little. I told them when u wash it, it may, but not when u use it and thereby spoil ur dhothi. Then they told that it will wear off with sweat. Then the staff there kept on saying illogical unrelated things like this (whatever that comes to his mouth) and abused me.

      Dear sir/madam,
      I purchased on line product with www.pothys.com,but not received all the products.My transcation no [protected].Bill no 16270.I purchased two sarees worth 8000 rs and 6000 rs.They delivered 8000rs saree and left my 6000rs saree ,no proper response from them.A called Rajan he is the online dealer he is not responding properly and ilost my money and not received my product,this is second time they cheat me.They pass their complaint to couriers they have taken now i am the looser..Please do the needful to get my product or money.Thank you very much for your service online.

      i purchased worth of Rs 5000 amount dress materials. on the one otto pant zip was problem ( open in closed position also ) . i request for replace the pant. but refused for that . i really feel shye. i never go for purchse on here. also i never refer my relatives and friend.
      I bought a silk saree cost Rs. 2800 on 17th Oct 2011 evening. Due to heavy crowd, they dint fold it properly but sent for delivery section and handed over to us..We didnt like that crushed silk saree, so wanted to exchange and went the next day morning itself. But the incharge person for exchange refused the saree to take back as its folding is missing slightly..He asked me to meet manager for 2nd floor silk saree exchange incharge who dint respond properly and using harsh words and denying to exchange as its folding has not made properly...

      They are not respecting the customers...compared to this shop, even saravana stores and Jeyachandran is handling customers with respect. He ignored to speak even and treating like anything..Finally Myself asked one of the sales man to fold it and it was perfect...then after a long argument that too with purchase manager I exchanged it...and for all your knowledge, I checked the same saree which I took from Pothys with Sri Kumaran silks and its cost is Rs.2000 only..But I got for Rs.2700 from pothy..paying extra money for valueless material and loosing our values to the pothy's appointed staff.

      "LOOSING OUR MONEY AND LOOSING OUR RESPECT AND VALUES TOO" - I[censored] r ready to loose your self respect and your valuable money then go for shopping for this worst and fraud Pothys.
      I think pothys.com just a show off. no one response about your queries. Payment gateway does not work. They add nice saree's all the time but that's about it.They have no intention to sell. None of the contact e-mail works. It bounces back!
      I agree with those complaint.
      I would like to mention here that they are sending the goods properly . If we want to exchange they will send alternate saree at their cost. They are replying to the queries. One or two samples may not lead to the decision of the good concern.
      I had got sarees during my wedding 2012 December. And all were silk sarees more than 20000 and my sister in law and mom also got. But all the blouse are torn due to bad quality of the material and it's just like thought taring. We have got silk sarees and my mother too in various shops like psr, ram silks, Ramkumar nalli. But this was our worst experience and did not expect this totally all only show off by the advertisements waste of money. The y use harsh words and no respect at all. Cheaters

        Hello sir/Madam,
        I brought the product with www.pothys.com online shopping.My transcation no [protected] and my bill no 16270 on first of nov2009.Ordered two sarees and paid for two sarees but received one saree and i am not getting proper response from them they are cheating me please sir do the needful.if we buy from uk online shops we are 100% sure we will receive the products but indian shops ,especially this pothys cheated me twice.Please do the needful for me.i beg you.Thank you for your speady action.

            Dear Sir/Madam,
            I bought two Kanjeevaram silk saree on line with pothys web site.My transaction no is [protected] and bill no is 16270.They took money for two sarees and sent only one .The cost of the saree which they left was $103.36 dollers.In indian currency is RS.6000.They took postal charge as well and they didnot send me one product.They are cheaters.It is second time happening for me.A MAN name R.J.RAJAN last time didnot respond properly and this time the same.I think he is the culprit.Please do the needful for me sir.I more frustrated with that insident.I have all the details and the mail from pothys. Thank you for helping me.

              Dear Sir,

              I am expecting a courier from New delhi, which has not been delivered till now, Its has been booked on 19.06.09 from New Delhi through pafex couriers vide wb #, Today we are in 22/06/09 and it has not been reached as of now, due to this delay my production is going to delay and we are going to face heavy loss Despite of several phone calls there is no proper response from your chennai office.

              Kindly request you to clear this issue immediately.
