I have purchased Redmi Note 8 Pro phone in Aug 2020 for my son's online studies, which has been over heating since then.
I visited service center multiple times & each time they used to just format the phone or do some quick stuff & return the phone in few hours saying it is sorted, but it was always the same.
During Aug 2021, I raised the concern with service center giving reference to multiple visits available in your system. They again changed some part & returned the phone, but the issue remains the same. on 3rd Oct 2021, the MI customercare representative even asked my son to keep the phone outside of house to avoid blast due to over heating.
Now, since warranty is over this month, they came up saying there is some major issue in phone & I need to pay INR 9600 to resolve, which is almost 60% of phone cost. It was never detected till warranty was over though I kept complaining entire year.
This is clearly malpractice by service center or may be incompetence of the technicians in Malad West (Mumbai) service center.
I feel I was given defective phone & it should be replaced, as I can't take risk of letting my son use such over heating phone which may blast anytime. I will need to raise my concern with relevant authorities if it is not resolved at earliest.

Updated by Shaileshtanna MI finally got convinced about this defect, but did not replace the phone. They just got the phone repaired by replacing the motherboard in October 2021.
However, the heating issue continued & got the issue remained & it again gave issue in 2 weeks. Getting into the same discussion again.
Not sure why they don't accept that the phone is faulty & consists risk of blast, which can be life threat for kids using phones for their online studies.
This issue needs to be raised to senior management of MI. Just like few phones banned due to risk of blasting, Redmi Note series also needs to be assessed & the users facing such issues needs to be refunded their money back.
