I ordered two items on amazon website and opted for pay on delivery. It's given in the website that i can pay either by cash or by card.
I was to get the product by dec 10. On dec 10, i got a message from amazon saying, "arriving today: (Product)... & 1 item will be delivered by amzagent (Contact no: & pin). Pay rs. (Amount) by cash/card. Track: (Website link)". Around 7.15 a. M. A delivery agent came with the package. The total cost of 2 items was rs. 1497/-. I gave him three new 500 rs notes. He said he would accept card only. Left without giving the package to me, saying he would come again the next day. Around 7.30 a. M. I made my first call to amazon customer care, informed the issue. I was told a complaint has been raised and that i would get the package by 9.00 p. M. That day.
Later, i got a message saying, "we could not deliver your order with (Product) we will re-attempt on 11-dec. If you were not contacted, tell us: (Website link).
Around noon i got a call from the delivery agent and repeated that he would not accept card. I called amazon customer care again. The executive told me that it's up to me if i would pay by cash or by card and that i would get the package that day itself. Around 8.00 p. M. I made a call to the customer care again. The executive asked me to wait till 9.00 p. M.
My fourth call was made after 9.00 p. M. The executive told me that dec 10 is an estimated date. Delivery could be expected 5 days beyond the estimated date, as against the guaranteed delivery. He assured me that the same delivery agent would not be coming the next day, and such an issue would not be happening again.
In between, i made a few calls to the delivery agent on the contact no: provided by amazon. Once or twice he did puck my call up but repeated he couldn't take cash.
The next day, i got a message from amazon saying,"arriving today: (Product) & 1 item will be delivered by amzagent (Contact no: and pin). Pay (Amount) by cash/card. Track: (Website address). Around noon, i got a call from the same delivery agent and i asked him to leave the package with my maid and that he would be given the payment by cash. He said he wouldn't take cash, would come again tomorrow and cut the call. Again, i received a message saying that delivery was attempted and could not be delivered again. I contacted customer care again. They told me that a complaint has already been raised. Issue has already been escalated and it that the delivery agent had given the following reason for not accepting cash payment: "... Customer gave old notes. So the delivery agent asked the customer to initiate electronic payment...". I told the executive that it was a blatant lie. The agent was just adamant that he wouldn't accept cash. I was told that the matter would be escalated. I called up the delivery agent more than 10 times. Once, my call was picked up. I asked him about his reporting to amazon that i gave old notes. He just cut the call without saying anything. None of my calls after that were answered.
I contacted customer care again. I told them i wanted the package desperately and that it shouldn't be returned. I also asked him to give me the location and contact no: of the amazon facility at thiruvananthapuram, so that i can collect the package personally. The executive assured me that it wouldn't be returned and that i would be getting it before dec 15. They would deliver the package to me, no need for me to collect it from the amazon facility.
I didn't get the package on dec 11 as well. On dec 12, when i checked my account, it was shown that the package was returning to the seller. This is the status of my order until now.
I contacted customer care again. The agent said, the return process has already been initiated. They couldn't do anything more than giving me a call back. I asked thrm to give me a contact no: of someone who can something about it. But the maximum they could do was to offer me a call back. Well, i didn't get a call back! Not a single call was made to me from amazon!
It's dec 16 today. I haven't got my package yet.
Worst customer care service ever!!! No contact no. Other than the customer care no. Every time we make a call, we get a different customer care executive and none of them cannot do anything more than escalating the issue. No call backs to check if the issue is resolved. No platform to express customer grievance. No e-mail id. No messaging option. No effort to deliver packages on time. Pointless assurances. Not even a single dependable contact person.
Amazon India customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
