This is a weird incident, and I believe I need to suffer due to my own negligence.

I had this credit card way back in 2006.

It was stolen, I made an FIR, lodged the same to citibank, post which I discontinued it's services, as in completely discontinued any relationship with Citibank.

However ironically after more than 3 years, that is sometime around 2009, I started getting calls from some DSA who started claiming the amount with interest and all.

I asked these people to come and meet me which they never did. They kept making threatening calls to me and my parents at my hometown. This went on for a week or so then it stopped.

Now after a year this crap has started again.

My question is:- After making all complains and going through the necessary process, why did the bank sit quiet for so many days?

Secondly even after submitting my details and FIR copy why did the abnk kept harassing me?

In this line of complain, I admit there were major flaws from my end as well:-

1. Since after this issue was over, I didn’t feel it a point to maintain those copies (FIR and details of credit card), and now I pay the price, How will I know that I may need it like this after three years?
2. Worst, now I do not even remember the number of the credit card. All I have is my name to give to Citibank. It’s “Anirban Roybardhan”. Can you please track my case down with just my name? It was prepared while I was staying in Mumbai, now I am out of that city, post a transfer. Had I been aware of this, I would have bothered to keep my unuseful papers with me as well….. Anyways now I have learnt my lesson, and ensure I keep my details with me all the time.
3. My issue is, can Citibank help me to get rid of these calling from “[protected]”? Some Dipika keeps calling from here since the past two days and had been making calls at my office branch in pune and Mumbai.

I am a priority banking customer with Standard Chartered and HDFC dating more than 4 and seven years respectively, have credit cards of HDFC and Standard Chartered banks since close to six years and never defaulted in any payment ever in my life with whichever service provider it be, how can Citibank do such an error?

I would request if someone calls me up at [protected] and ends this issue at the earliest.

I understand currently with the aforesaid situation I obviously am not in a driving seat. Requested if Citi can work things out for me.

Regards,

Anirban Roy Bardhan

    Hi,

I have taken a Vodafone connection # [protected] on 19th Aug 2010 and got that activated on 21st Aug 2010 and I have all proof for the new connection.

Since the account activation I am getting constant call from Citibank for a person called Arun Pathak regarding asking me to make a payment for credit card.
I received an SMS for some card# ending with 4002 of a payment amount due of Rs. 51770.97 on my new connection.

I have informed them constantly and even called up their customer support team that they should update their bank records that the number doesn't belong to the above mentioned persons and every time they are calling they report that they have updated the records but still I am getting constant call harassing me and threatening me to make the payment.

Please advice how should I take a legal action against this.

    Thanks
    Debika Chakraborty.

Citibank- Credit Card — Constant Harassment

I would like to lodge a serious complaint regarding the constant harassment being caused by citibank credit card collection centre agents. They Dont only call me but they are continuosly calling my friends, friends parents and other colleagues as well. Due to certain health complications and due to completely being jobles for over a 8 months or so, I had defaulted on credit card payment, later on the payment was made and Inspite of telling them that the amount due has been deposited and the name of the bank whose check has been put in along with the amount, along with a clear order to cancel my card I’m being called again and again on my mobile asking me to inform them which area the check has been deposited.
This is rather strange as I fail to understand why should vbe my friends and their family are being approached and being discussed about my Financial standings. the senseless staff at the collection centre is unable to comprehend the situation.

As I have already paid interest and that to 3.5% which is bloody lot why am I being chased like this, if this is not stopped immediately I will put a legal notice for harassment.

I would urge a responsible person at the bank who might be having some sense of individual personality please go through the recorded conversations of my logged calls. I fail to understand why citibank does not pursue any other mode to follow up on late payments, like e-mail, postal reminder etc… or a combination of all, so that this level of irritation can be avoided. I can guarantee you this was the second time I’m throwing your Citibank card, had done so earlier several years back due to similar problem, but I guess I had forgotten with time but now I can promise I will never ever opt for it again.
Thank you very much for all the anger you have unnecessary caused me and thank you for making me cancle the credit card….. you have done great service to your bank and banking ethics…… which are fast becoming history, no wonder all banks like yourself are begging and surviving on public funding.

Due to my bad performance for four months (July - Oct 2008), my two credit cards' limits were lowered from Rs 1,88,000.00 to
Rs 30,000.00 w.e.f 1st March 2009. Priorto that, my benefits points were reduced by 25% (1point = Rs 150 against 1point = Rs 125 earlier) w.e.f 1st March 2007; my credit limit was raised four times between Sept 2004 - Jan 2008 after RBI intervention - otherwise, they asked for my Form 16 and pay slips to raise my credit limits inspite of no such prevalent rules just due to " internal rules".

They confirmed to me in writing in 2006 that they would stop sending promotional emails - the same is continuing in a new unique way - the incoming promotional emails appear for some days in my email address and then self-delete and disappear permanently.

All this has put me to a great mental pain and agony which cannot be quantified in money terms.

I request an inquiry and a compensation of Rs 1.50 lacs from Citibank for all this anti-consumer approach.

I may state here that Citibank operates in India through a Head Office in Chennai and branch offices in only major cities (mainly metros - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, BAngalore, Hyderabad and some other cities).

This is a long pending credit card since 2005. Though i made all the payments which were actually the interest being leived for on some annual charges. Despite the fact that they took the amount in few EMIs they are still sending me letters with pending amount.
As promised they have not yet given me NOC, infact have been harassing me with more pending amount.

It is a request to please get this sorted.

                      Regards.

I am Vijay Kumar, working for Tecnotree having CITI Bank account, Acct. No. [protected]. On 12th July 2010 I transferred sum of amount Rs. 5,000.00 (Five Thousands only) to Acct. NO.[protected] Syndicate Bank , Adoni (Andhra Pradesh). The amount has been debited from my account and not credited to the other account. Regarding the same I spoke to the CITI Bank Customer Care executive on 14th July 2010 and they had given me a Ref. No. 8978 saying that this issue will be settled on or before 23rd of July 2010, but it is not settled and on 24th July 2010 again I called the Customer Care executive (Divya) and detailed her and she update with the same reference number 8978 and informed me saying that she will confirm within two days but till now I didn’t receive any update from CITI Bank. Again, I raised a call regarding the same and the CITI Bank Customer Care executive said they will call back on 28th and let me know for the first time I received a call from CITI Bank Customer Care executive and asked for some more days and they promised me to transfer the amount to the benificary account before 5th August 2010 but the issue remains same.

Even I checked with the Syndicate Bank , Adoni (Andhra Pradesh) with the UTR.No. CITIN[protected] provided by the CITI Bank they confirmed that the amount has not received.

Hence, I request you to please do the needful.

Please make sure that no financial institutions should not repeat this. Atleast they can call back and inform the customers. If the customers fail to pay the credit card bill or loan amount on time for the same (even for one day) they will charge even for the mistakes they have to pay to the customers.

                              Dear Sir/ Madam

Lalit Sardana is not at all a responsible executive. He has been mishandeling the case from too long now. Lalit is use to make fake promises and commitments. We would not like to discuss anything with Mr Lalit anymore. Kindly hand over this case to some other responsible executive.

Moreover after previous mail to 'we care' mail Mr Paritosh visited on 9th july and promised pre-closure asap and said he will be back in couple of days with final settlement statement. But Mr Paritosh also disappeared after that.

Is there some kind of nexus of Mr Lalit in Citifinancial? So much Big that people like Paritosh are also removed and nobody else can handle the case except Mr Lalit? Is Mr Lalit the final authority of Citi financial?

IS THERE ANY SENIOR AUTHORITY AWAKE IN CITIFINANCIAL? IF YES THAN WHY MR LALIT IS BEING AUTHORISED TO HARAS THE CLIENTS ? IS HE THE ONLY EMPLOYEE OF CITI FINANCIAL... DOESN'T CITI FINANCIAL HAS ANY EMPLOYEE OTHER THAN MR LALIT

We would not like to go to Court of Law, RBI or Consumer Forum and waste ours as well as your precious time. It will be better if case is handeled responsibily from your end by some responsible official.

                              Awaiting Rejoinder

                                Hi,
In 2002 , i was an employee of Metlife and it was having salary account with Citibank. Metlife rightly changed the corporate account to HDFC. I had withdrawn all my money from Citibank salary account and requested to close it. They activated overdraft facility without my consent and have been charging me interest for past 8 years. As per banking rules they should close my account when i have made no transactions for past 8 years. IT IS THE WORST BANK ON EARTH.

                                  Hi

I have used citibank credit card. Now the when the recovery agents in Chandigarh, came to my place, said i can go for settlement, they did inform me that I have to pay Rs 40,000 also need to pay them an amount of Rs 5000 (for their own use). Recovery agents are really forcing me to pay Rs 5000 extra. I have agreed to pay them Rs 40,000. Dont want to pay them Rs 5000 as its going in their pockets not paying to the bank.

Citibank has been very sly on the home loan they sold us. The loan was on fixed interest scheme, but the Citibank authorities have cancelled 'fixed' on the application and terms and conditions document and have been charging floating interest rates. As a result, the EMI amount keeps changing every month. Citibank officials refuse to acknowledge, admit or even given in writing whether the home loan is on fixed or floating rate.
For the longest time, they refused to explain why this was the case. Also they never sent periodic statements on payments made/received, balance, etc. After very many calls and letters and reminders have they started sending loan statements.

Citibank — did not explain charges while selling investment product

To make some investment I called Citibank Wealth Advisor Nitin Arora who made me purchase Birla Sunlife ULIP without explaining its charges pattern.First year policy charged 65% of premium paid. When I tried to contact Nitin to ask for clarification,he was never contactable.

Citibank — rate of home loan

I availed a Citi Home Loan and had asked for a downward revision of the rates by 1% as they were charging me higher than comparable loans to other customers. They agreed orally to reduce it provisionally by 0.5% and also said they will send a letter to that effect. He also promised a 0.75% reduction in writing.

Two weeks later another rep called me for a rate hike of 1.75%!! Several Citi / TCS e-serve employees called me over the last 3 or 4 weeks asking for confirmation to increase the EMI. I have asked for a foreclosure and they are still calling me for increasing the EMI. Is there not a review mechanism. RM, M, SM and many more designations have spoken to me without understanding the real issue.

Its time i got Citi out of my life.

Dear Ms Makkar (VICE PRESIDENT, CITI BANK ),

THANKS FOR AUTO REPLY TYPE EMAIL BUT PL KEEP IN MIND THAT MY SON WILL FLY BACK FROM AMSTERDAM ON 29TH JULY. I APPRECIATE THE TIME BEING CONSUMED IN VIEWING THE MATTER AT VP LEVEL BY KNOWING THE FACT THAT I APPLIED FOR ADDON CARD IN JUNE FOR MY SON WAS TO TRAVEL ON 16TH JULY FOR TWO WEEKS TO AMSTERDAM. NO DOUBT TO TAKE MORE THAN ONE MONTH TO MAKE A ADD-ON CARD IS NOT SOMETHING UNUSUAL AT CITI BANK.

FYI SBI / BANK OF BARODA / VIJAYA BANK TAKES RATHER DELIVERS THE CARD IN FLAT 5 DAYS. PL REVIEW THE LENGTHY PROCESS IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.

I PERSONALLY FEEL AGAINST YOUR PUNCHLINE "CITI NEVER SLEEPS' AND HENCE MY OBSERVATION HAS BEEN THAT YOUR STAFF IS ALWAYS SLEEPY AND DELAYS THE NORMAL SIMPLE JOB. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SUCH INORDINATE DELAY HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE FACED SIMILAR APPENDED DELAYS EARLIER AS WELL. FOR YR INFO SAKE ONLY:

                                      1) I WANTED TO OPEN NRI ACCOUNT AND CITI WHICH TOOK THREE WEEKS TO PROCESS PAPERS AND IN THE PROCESS I WENT BACK TO GULF, CITI LOST ABOUT 8 LACS SAVINGS PER MONTH.

                                      2) DURING MY 3 WEEKS VACATION IN USA THIS MARCH MY PLATINUM CARD WAS NOT WORKING, CITI TOOK TWO WEEKS TO MAKE IT OPERATIVE INSPITE OF VARIOUS TIME LINES GIVEN TO ME BY MS. LAXMI THE CC MANAGER. I SPENT RS 18,000 ON PHONE CALLS TO ACTIVATE MY CARD ASAP, BUT JUST THREE DAYS BEFORE MY RETURN MATTER WAS LOOKED INTO. CITI BANK DOES NOT KEEP TIME LINES AND ALSO IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE URGENCIES IF REQUESTED BY THE CUSTOMER.

                                      3) THIRD CASE IS WHEN I WANTED TO OPEN RS 40,000 PM RECURRING DEPOSIT WITH CITI BANK, ONCE AGAIN MATTER WAS GOOFED UP AND I OPENED RECURRING ACCOUNT WITH SBI FINALLY .

I THINK THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS FAILING IN CITI BANK AND HAS BECOME EXTREMELY GALVANISED TO CUSTOMER CARE/REQUESTS OR IS ENGULFED WITH SERIOUS RED TAPAISUM MORE THAN THE NATIONALISED BANKS. NOW I FEEL I MUST NOT BE THE ONLY CUSTOMER FEELING HARASSED BY THE INEFFICIENT STAFF OF CITI BANK, ITS THE CULTURE WHICH IS BEING REFLECTED IN THE REPLIES.

                                      Best regards

                                        Dear Sir,

I have been having worst experience with Citibank. I am holding a credit card of Citibank. One day I got a call from Citibank's representative at Chennai and he informed me about health insurance policy. I had clearly asked him to send me the details of the policy and start crediting me the premiums ONLY AFTER I go through the policy details and give my consent. But they started premiums without my consent. I raised this issue with their officer and despite his assurance, this never get solved and they kept on crediting insurance premiums and its interest. Please let me know what I can do in this case.
