I had booked an international return flight from Delhi to Singapore on Air India through Cleartrip. As one of the connection flights was delayed by more than 20 hours, I was promised by Air India as well as the Cleartrip customer care that I am entitled to a 100% refund on the flight. And so I decided to cancel the flight and asked Cleartrip to process the refund.

When I followed up on this, I was told that I need to get the flight status changed from Flown to Open to process the refund. For this i spent 4 months following up with various Air India Customer care numbers, Airport offices, Regional offices and finally made a complaint to the Air India National Vigilance officer. Needless to say this was an extremely expensive and time-consuming task but I was able to get this done.

After going through all this trouble, Cleartrip now tells me that I am not entitled to any refund because the cost of the cancelled flight is less than the overall cost of the return ticket of a combined journey.


- Why was I not told of this when I was making the request for cancellation? I would not have done so and booked an expensive one way ticket to be able to fly the same day.

- Why was I asked to run around to get the flight status changed when I was not entitled to a refund.

- The responses of clearTrip on mail are appalling, making generic statements and just copying text from other mails.

I have confirmed with Air India that the refund for the sector I cancelled should be approximately 13000 rupees.
And I am entitled to it as guided by the Air India Airport staff, Air India Customer care, Regional Manager of Air India Office Delhi, Cleartrip executive's I have spoken to up until the last mail I received.

I hope ClearTrip takes notice of this issue and checks their processes. I am entitled to the refund and after all these delays and effort I have put in, I would really appreciate if this is done ASAP !!

Dear team,

As you have seen, I went through a lot of trouble in getting the status
changed. In the end I had to escalate the matter to the Delhi regional head
and the Air India Country Vigilance head to get this done. As per our
previous conversations, this was the only issue holding the refund.

I understand that you need confirmation from Air India for the same, but
given that we have been working on this for over 4 months now, I would
appreciate if you can speed up the process and process the refund at the
earliest.

    I booked 2 hotel rooms in Ooty through clear trip. The payment was made and confirmation was made. Just when I was about to reach Ooty I got call from clear trip and I was informed that the booking is not valid as there were no rooms available in the hotel. If the rooms were not available then how the hell Clear Trip booked room for me. The alternate arrangements was not done. The caller from customer care was not ready to send any information in my registered mobile number. He was telling me to check my email. Since, I was in journey I was not able to check my email too. Later on I checked my email only to find nothing. Now, there is no call coming from clear trip. I think my money is gone. If so then I will see to it that Clear Trip is called to court. As I have all the details available with me and I even have the capacity to take out the call details.

    Hotel booking for Coorg

    I did hotel booking at coorg for 21st Feb. Cleartrip agent given us the room which we did not booked. they have taken money for wood house and given other room. Cleartrip cheated us.

      I made 2 bookings with Clear Trip, the first one was for Dalhousie & the second one for Mcleodganj, the Trip Ids are given below. Trip ID: [protected] This was first booking for 2 rooms for 2 nights for Adults and 3 Children in Dalhousie for 24th May & 25th May’14. I received the confirmation voucher (Copy Attached) that my booking is confirmed with Hotel Shangrila however a few days later I received a call stating that the rooms are all booked in that hotel so we are moving to Hotel Jaspreet. It was 2 days before my travel so I had no other option but to unwillingly agree, they sent me a confirmation Voucher (Copy Attached) for Hotel Jaspreet. I drove on my own to Dalhousie from Ghaziabad along with one of my friend and his family. It took me 12 hrs time to reach Hotel Jaspreet and by that point of time everybody was so tired that they just wanted to lie down somewhere. When I reached Hotel Jaspreet I was told by the incharge (Madan Sharma) that there was no booking under my name. Me and my family were surprised that how can that be possible and showed him the Voucher to which he said you need to speak to clear trip as we do not have your booking. I even spoke to the owner (Nitin) who was in Ludhiana however even he offered no assistance. I even asked them of Gagandeep’s number (Marketting Manager with Clear Trip) as they were speaking to him however they didn’t and were very rude in their behaviour. I called up Clear trip and spoke to 4 people & everybody said the same thing that your booking is confirmed with Hotel Jaspreet, I even made them speak to the Hotel Staff & when they didn’t had any solution either they left me on hold or disconnected the call. I even spoke to a supervisor (Rakesh Rana) who promised to call me in half an hour however didn’t. I stood there for 5 hrs with 3 kids of less than 5 years, my friend was questioning me of what was happening. Whenever you call up clear trip the IVR says that all the calls are recorded for Training and Quality Purposes, so you can ask of all the call recordings for the calls which I made. After no solution I started searching for another accommodation, as it was a weekend and holiday season most of the hotels in Dalhousie were full, after a lot of searching I found an accommodation Hotel Monga (Bill Attached for confirmation) which was way out of my Budget but had no other option. Trip ID [protected] Similar thing happened to my second booking in Mcleodganj with Hotel Sahiwa, one day before my travel to Mcleaodganj I called up Clear Trip just to confirm that everything is fine with my second booking, I spoke to Suraiya and she said that the booking is confirmed, I was not convinced because of my experience in Dalhousie an asked her if she can arrange a call from the Hotel to which she said she will conference my call, she did that and made me speak to the Hotel Staff member (Kalfang), she also confirmed that it is there. While it as going on my wife received a call from Clear trip (Riyang Rajan) and he said the Hotel doesn’t have rooms available, I spoke to him and said I have Suraiya on the other line and she has confirmed of the booking and she has also made me speak to the Hotel Staff, Riyang said ok than its fine however I said please check and let me know. He called back after half an hour and confirmed that the booking is there. Next day when I reached Mcleodganj and approached the Hotel, to my surprise the hotel staff said that there is no booking under my name. I was very upset but couldn’t do anything so called up Clear trip and they again said that your booking is confirmed, when I told him that the staff is saying it otherwise he said he will call me back. I insisted on speaking to a supervisor or Manager however he declined to do that. I did not receive a call as usual but got the number for Gagandeep (Marketing Manager- Clear Trip) from the hotel staff. I called him and told him of what has happened, he again had no answer but he said he arrange accommodation in a different property. He gave me multiple options and whichever option he gave we would go to that Hotel and the hotel would say that there are no rooms available. After looking at 3 options we were finally given accommodation in an alternate property after spending 3 hrs.

        I booked at least 25 or more airline tickets through Cleartrip till date. The first time I am trying to cancel a ticket and this is what happens. To cancel flight tickets for just one person from each of the trip IDs I have mentioned above, I went online to check the refund amount and it showed me Rs.1710/- per pax. Since I thought this amount is very low (return ticket fare was 6710/-) I called up the ClearTrip Customer Care and asked them to just confirm the refund amount. They said I will be getting Rs. 2210/-. Even after telling them online refund amount shows 500 bucks less. They confirmed this a multiple times, that the refund amount will be Rs. 2210/-, and that there might be some technical problem online. So I went ahead and cancelled the bookings through phone. It took 40 mins to cancel one ticket, total of I Hr 20 Mins to cancel tickets over phone. The email confirmation which I got from ClearTrip showed me a refund amount of Rs. 1710/- for each person. I called up to check if it was any technical error, 15 mins after cancelling, they suddenly change words. They say "sorry for miss-information". You'll get only that amount now. Looks like in the job description of customer care, ClearTrip Tells them to [censored] to every person that rings the phone.
        Wasted money, wasted time for absolutely nothing. I could've rather done this online in just 5 minutes.
        If I booked the tickets directly on the airline website they deduct only Rs. 3700/- for this. But here cleartrip deducted Rs. 1300/- as their cancellation amount.
        I might never book a flight tickets on cleartrip ever again.

          This is to inform that there have been some changes in your trip ID 9074 for MAA-MRU segment. | MK-747 | MAA-MRU | Departure time: 0815 on 01OCT2013 The flight has been cancelled by the airline. Please note that alternate flight option will only be available if provided by the airline. They don't take any responsibility. If we take Flight on Next Day. They say why did you take the flight or else we would have refunded. Once i didn't take flight and asked for Refund. They only refund flight fare which was cancelled. The other way and hotel cost they don't refund. So better not to book any Flight with Clear Trip. In the End its our mistake choosing ClearTrip. Makemytrip they do something thinking about Customer. Clear Trip does nothing. Please My request don't book any flight with them. I have experienced it. So choose other options other then ClearTrip. Better is to select direct airlines.

          While taking money from Credit Card. No process. When flight cancelled. All process need to be done from customer side only.

          Clear Trip pure Fraud.I spoke to agent. He is telling PNR is alive. Supervisor are always busy on another call. As so many people have only complaints.

          Called up 3 times. No supervisor is busy. This shows where their company stands.When refunds process comes client need to do all the stuffs.

          From this came to know everyone can open company likt Clear Trip

          If the booking is cancelled with the airline directly, it needs to be cancelled with us too as the airline does not inform us about cancellation and refund of individual PNRs. We are unable to view the ticket details and have sent an email to the airline to check on the status of the ticket.

          Until we get any revert from the airline, we are unable to commit anything and we will have to wait till the airline reverts. Please be assured that as soon as we get any revert from the airline, we will keep you updated.

            Hi, My father tried to book a return trip to Kathamandu for my monther and nani on[protected]. The trip was made and someone by the name of Jaswant from cleartrip made the package. As my father does not know online payment process he asked to do the same on his behalf. While the package was being made and cleartrip wanted me to make the payment, I received 20 calls in the space of one hour to do the payment. I finally make the payment but jasvant tells me that the prices have been increased and I would need to make 500 rs extra payment. Having already paid 22500, I was forced to agree to make the extra payment. Half an hour later Jasvant from Cleartrip calls up my father and informs that we would now need to make an extra payment of 2500 as the prices have increased again. I called them and asked that how could the so called ' real time' prices could increase if they have already booked the trip half and hour ago. to which Jasvant replies that he has still not booked the tickets. Then to top it all he suggests an alternate flight in which I would have to pay only 2000 extra. I had to reluctantly agree as they already have my 22500, after waiting till evening this Jasvant informs me (now I had to make calls as they already had my money) that he cannot book the tickets as there is some problem with the back end. So in all they wasted my whole day, I saw the tickets to Indigo getting full and Spice jet prices increase and I had to pay 22500 for NOTHING. Now I have been trying to get my money back. it's been more than 2 weeks and multiple mails and calls but I am yet to get anything back. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING FROM CLEARTRIP, THEY ARE A BUNCH OF THUGS AND CHEATS WHO WOULD CALL YOU ONLY TILL THE TIME YOU PAY. REST YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

              Ticket ID no. [protected] Spicejet-SG105.I Booked round trip from kolkata to portblair and back on 21.4.2014 and 27.4.2014. I booked three meal (2 non veg+1 Veg ) on 21.4.2014 and three meal ( 3 Non veg ) on 27.4.2014.but I did not get 3 meal when I challenged to crew then they check the list and told that our name was not their. They told me it was the falt of cleartrip agent.you sent on payment details for 33, 515 and then you add my meal charge Rs.1450/- .So total cost of Rs. 34966/- which amount I paid through credit card. You check this your willing mistake and refund my 750/- for meal charge. If you do not take any step for this cheating then I will complain to your head office at Mumbai.

                We booked a two seats in srs travels through cleartrip.and they given a confirmed ticket. After the booking they called us and tolled the ticket was not confirmed.we booked the seats from mysore(05:00pm-22/Apr/2014) to Chennai(06:00am-23/Apr/2014) and the seat numbers are 11 and 12. At 5:39pm on 22/Apr/2014 they messeged us the seats are confirmed. How the travelers can trust and travel with them.

                  4th April 2014 To, Cleartrip Customer Service, SUBJECT: Non-Issuance of Ticket in Name of Kalpana Desai - False Copy of Ticket Provided My complaint with Customer Support at Cleartrip was lodged on 13th February 2014. Cleartrip issued a ticket in favour of my mother Kalpana Desai, 59 years old. She was due to fly from Surat to Mumbai on 14th February 2014. However, on checking with Spicejet staff on the ground in Surat on 13th February, they informed no ticket exists. I called Cleartrip to request issuance of ticket in name of Kalpana Desai, for which I paid more than 6 months in advance, the Customer Services team would not accept our request. Cleartrip not only issued a false ticket, but also refused to acknowledge that Cleartrip may have cancelled our booking altogether. On explaining in detail, I spent 1 hour 12 minutes with Cleartrip Customer Services Supervisor Mr. Ajay. The final response after spending 1 hour 12 minutes on phone with the team was, that Cleartrip would need to investigate if in fact we were speaking the truth. We inquired how my mother is supposed to board a flight on a ticket provided by Cleartrip, which doesn't exist? Mr. Ajay informed us that Cleartrip can do nothing to help. They advised us to buy a new ticket and that Cleartrip would need to investigate if we are indeed truthfully complaining. When we requested that our ticket was booked more than six months in advance - how can i be expected to buy a much more expensive ticket, the supervisor said, "Sorry, we can't do anything about it." In addition to this, no one to date has either emailed us or gotten in touch via a phone call to sort out the issue. We were told that Cleartrip would get in touch, however that has not been the case. I also called Cleartrip today 4th April 2014. I was kept on hold most of the 35 minutes on the phone. The first answer was that Cleartrip has sent us a communication that we must submit our new purchased ticket. On producing this, Cleartrip would investigate how to process a refund. What is surprising and shocking is that there has been no communication whatsoever from anyone from Cleartrip! We are still not sure why Cleartrip must resort to lies and deceit to its customers? We would like answers to following questions: 1. Is this how Cleartrip treats its customers, specifically an older female customer? 2. Why has the issue not been resolved since 13th February? Why has Cleartrip not made any effort to resolve the issue? Why was a false commitment given on Cleartrip's part? 3. Are there to be no consequences for Cleartrip to abuse and ill-treat and mislead its customers? Why is this not a clear case of FRAUD? It seems Cleartrip has been doing this to hundreds of customers: http://www.consumercomplaints.in/?search=cleartrip - the truth will eventually prevail! 4. Why must this complaint not be submitted to the highest Consumer Court Authority, DGCA, Civil Aviation Ministry for suspending the license for Cleartrip to operate? Cleartrip has abused its position in the Travel Industry to falsely issue tickets that do not exist. This construes a clear case of security risk to Airports in India where any customer can enter! Attached is the certification from Spicejet that the PNR for Kalpana Desai was fully canceled by Cleartrip against our wishes. Attached in same file is also bill receipt of Rs. 4, 851 bill of ticket we had to urgently purchase to make the flight to Mumbai. In total Cleartrip owes us a minimum of the following: Rs. 5, 594 (Original ticket price per attached) + Rs. 4, 851 (New ticket price for Spicejet) + Rs. 50, 000 (Mental pain and suffering to my mother) =Rs. 60, 445 We have been unfairly and unjustly treated. The time taken for Cleartrip still to resolve this issue, as well as the brazenness with which Cleartrip ill-treats its customers is shocking. There must be financial consequences for Cleartrip for ill-treatment of customers. We have not only suffered because of the false ticket issuance. The manner in which the case has been handled despite being proven that Cleartrip has fault, is surprising. The fact that Cleartrip issues a false ticket also proves a huge security risk to our Nation. This case proves that Cleartrip has no care whatsoever for its customers.                     I Have booked a Hotel thru ClearTrip, Made Payment &amp; I have received a confirmation Voucher with some Hotels Policy- No point is released to Couple should carry marriage proof at Hotel while check in .. Since we don't have Proof, Hotel rejected Accommodation .. When I call back ClearTrip CC says there is point no Number 5 is mentioned as Couple should carry, , whcih is not there Please Find attachment that was sent to me post booking..

                    Now when I say there is no point mentioned they have sent me another Voucher with another policies mentioned on it.

                    We can clearly understand how they are mis guiding us.. because of this I have lost my money &amp; my advance plan program was canceled as we did not received any informantion about it..

                      I have booked hotel rooms on 12-13th March 2014 from cleartrip website and got the confirmation along with the voucher code . I called them to get the verbal confirmation also . I received a mail on 18th March 2014 that rooms are not confirmed and they will confirm in next 5-7 Days working days . On same day I have raised an issue that customer care are saying that rooms are confirmed and mail is conflicting with customer care . Again, on 26th March 2014 received a mail that rooms are not available so room can’t be confirm . They should return my money with flight ticket charges, above four transaction and other booking which I made after this . As my tour is getting affected due to cleartrip.

                        I was booking 4 tkts. from Cleartrip (pune-delhi-pune), the amount shown was 32000 on 6th February 2014, but at the time of payment the amount recovered by my Credit card was Rs, 40000. There was no pop up before paying the amount, but your representative said that in the IT call log mentions that there was a pop up before booking, so I insisted to have the call log emailed. The call log was sent but this was not of my transaction, it was some other transaction. This is dishonesty, I had good experience of Cleartrip, but after this issue I have lost faith in Cleartrip. thus contacting complaint forum where I could get justice.                             I had booked one air ticket through net banking from new Delhi to Abu Dhabi in 13th Feb 2014 of my Brother in law. While booking the ticket I have mentioned his name Manish Sharma whereas on Passport his name is Manish Kumar. We have requested to cleartrip to change the sir name but they have not change and advise us to cancel the ticket and book new one. On 14th Feb I have cancelled that ticket and book new one.

                            On cancelation of ticket i have received mail from cleartrip that the refund of Rs. 6039.00 will be credited in my account within 5-7 days. Till 26th I have not received the payment so i have called to cleartrip customer service and written so many mails with my latest bank statement which is shows that the amount is not credited in my account.

                            From 27th of Feb 2013, I am daily calling to customer care and taked with Ms. Sharadha, Ms. Rekha, Ms. Heena, Mr. Shekhar, Mr. Rakesh and even i have talked three times with flour manager Mr. Sachin Pawasker. Every time Mr. Sachin pawasker is assuring me that he is looking in to the matter but till date i have not received any update on this issue.

                            Please look into the matter and advise what to do or should I go in consumer court.

                              Dear Team Clear Trip,

                              I am a regular with your booking site &amp; been booking since the past 7 years.

                              I recently booked a flight for 2'nd Feb, 2014. TRIP I.D-[protected] ; PNR - Y9NRB ; Ticket no.-098-[protected] .

                              Air-India unfortunately cancelled the flight on the very last minute (got to knw when we approached the counter with the hope to access our boarding card) due to fog & our delhi-chandigarh trip was cancelled.

                              I did recv a cancellation voucher from the AIR INDIA counter, but unfortunately misplaced it. When I called the cleartrip customer care, I was informed to submit the voucher by courier to the cleartrip postal address for a refund process. I was also informed that incase of misplaced voucher I could go to any AIRINDIA counter at the airport & re-obtain it. I tried. We drove on Feb-2 by road to chandigarh (as our flight was cancelled) & went straight to the Chandigarh Airport, only to discover that the airport was shut. We are residents of Ludhiana-Punjab & the city does not have a functional airport & I also haven't found the time to specially go to Chandigarh to retrieve this voucher.

                              I was also informed that incase im not in a position to produce the voucher, the refund money will appear in my account in 7 working days (today is 20'th Feb). What am i to assume of Cleartrip's services ?? Is there no customer compassion ?? Is it not now the onus of Cleartrip to ensure the full refund is transferred to the customers account post due diligence with AIR-INDIA ?? Rs.8900 is a lot of money for a tax paying citizen of this country !

                              What am I to expect following this email ? Will I be heard, will the refund appear in my account quickly ??

                                Here is my experience about www.cleartrip.com. The Travel site. I tried to book Kolkata-Dhaka for 27Jan2014. The Transaction was failed. I re-tried to book. Again failed. This time blank page appeared. Before I try for the third time, I wanted to check, if money was deducted from my account. Yes. It deducted twice. For both the failed transactions. I was under Impression that, as these ware failed transactions, it will be refunded. Next I went for booking again. The welcome page (dashboard) opened and it was showing two bookings ! (Trip ID [protected] and Trip ID [protected]) I tried to cancel one. It said “Sorry, unable to get your details right now. Seems there's a temporary issue with our system.” Again tried to cancel. Same message appeared. I decided to call. Surprisingly there is no helpline number or email id in the main website. Someone really have to work hard to find the contact numbers. No email id visible. And you cannot email them. You can only leave your message there, resulting no proof in your hand. Anyway I could contact them over phone. The guy was repeating what I said. He said, he could not help me in cancellation as it was within 48 hours. Although practically it as more than 48 hours. Finally he told me only Rs. 950 will be refunded. Finally I could cancel one of the tickets. Don’t know when they are going to refund. Tell me why should I be penalized for your own technical fault. They have to absorb the loss for faults due to any technical mishaps, Not me.

                                  I had booked a flight + Hotel deal with Clear trip. (Trip id: [protected]) When I reached Shimla, I get to know the the road to the hotel booked is closed because of Snow. With nowhere to go, I called up Cleartrip and asked them to change the hotel. They were reluctant to change the hotel saying the policy does not allow them to do so. I was freezing at sub zero temperature with nowhwere to go with my wife and this is the kind of behavior clear trip exhibits. I was not able to reach the hotel and had to forego my money and find another accomodation in the night in that cold. Very sad experience with Clear trip. Atleast on terms of humanitarian grounds, they should have given me an alternate accomodation when I was not able to reach the hotel itself. I had to forego my money for the hotel booking for two days.

                                  Very poor customer service from Clear trip. This is the first and last time I will ever do a booking with them and will also advise my friends to never deal with Cleartrip.

                                  I demand a full refund and a written apology from Cleartrip.

                                    Hi, I am a frequent clear trip user for my flight booking. I have an account also. This time I booked two ticket from Kolkata to Jorhat on 13th Jan 2014 (Trip Id [protected]).Due to some reason i had to change one persons ticket from 13th January to 11 th january 2014. I called clear trip customer care and by the help of their guidance i changed the date from 13th january to 11th january for one person through 'Change flights' option. My requirement was on 13th January only one person will travel and the other person will travel on 11th Jan. As the guidance from the customer care I followed the steps and booked the ticket. They informed me that only cancellation charge of 1500 will deduct and rest of the ticket fare will adjust with the new ticket. But after following the steps i could see that i have two different tickets --1.the original ticket with the trip id [protected] and showing both the persons name( Palash baruah and Surabhi Bhuyan) ---2. A new ticket with trip id [protected] (Surabhi Bhuyan) For both the tickets i was charged full. There was not any adjustment. As i did change flight so i should get back money for Surabhi Bhuyans ticket from 13th Jan after deducting cancellation charge. i immediately called customer care but they are reluctant to help. Again I called then they informed me that they had registered a complaint and told me that they will call me within 24 hr. But there was no call. Could you please look into this and return back my refund. This type of inconvenience is not acceptable. Regards, Surabhi

                                      I had done the following booking on 6th December 2013. Silver Sand Beach Resort, Daman, Daman And Diu, India Trip ID : [protected] Date of check in 28th Jan 2013. Dt of check out 29th Jan 2013. While punching in the dates I had by error punched Jan instead of Dec. Then I called CLEAR TRIP. They very casually informed that it is not refundable. I pleaded to check with the hotel and change the dates. They said someone will call me in 4 hours time. I waited and waited - no one called. In desperation I called up their help desk. Someone picked up the phone after lot of waiting and said the following -"Since there is no response we are disconnecting the line"- very fast thrice without giving me a chance to talk. This was done immediately after they picked up. Then I had no option but to cancell the booking. I got a email message from Clear trip that my booking was cancelled and they would shortly inform me of the amount of refund. I waited. Today, I again called them up at 1.10 pm. One Rohit said that I will not get any refund. Is this the way customers are cheated? Action should be taken. The plea given is that while booking there is a link appearing titled - rate rules - if you click on that the terms and conditions of booking are mentioned - shows non refundable. Is this how customers are cheated? Then who will have faith in online booking? PLEASE TAKE UP THIS MATTER WITH THE COMPANY AND HOTEL.

                                      Took up the matter with Hotel Silver Sands vide email today. I got a call from the Hotel Silver Sands stating that they have allowed full refund of my booking amount as a special case. I have now to take up the matter with CLEAR TRIP for refund amount. Satisfied with the response from the Hotel. Complaint stands resolved to my satisfaction by SILVER SANDS. Taken up the matter with CLEAR TRIP.
