[Resolved]  Airtel Digital TV — Inferior Set Top Box and picture quality

I had bought Airtel Digital TV connection on 16th Dec 2008 paying Rs.3500. On 18th of Dec 2008 the Set top Box stopped working totally afetr one day of installation. Please help me get my money refunded from this company. The quality of their pictue is also of inferior quality as compared to tatasky. The customer care is pathetic. I had sent them a complaint mail and has still not got any reply after 48 hours . When I called them thay said that their turn around time is 7 days (too high) for technical support.

I work in a company called Vodafone and do understand matters send through this media works really well and hence I am writing to you. Hope someone will read the mail and take some action.

I went to this Store in Patna (Aditya Vision) to buy a Airtel Digital TV on 24th October with my family on eve of Dhantaras. The Airtel representative explained me about the available subscription packages and I choosed one he explained to me Economy = Value + 35 channels. As per him the annual charge for the same subscription was Rs. 2000/- and I would have to pay for anything extra that I want. But little did I know I am committing a crime that I will have to pay my peace with. Thereafter started my wooes and ironies with Airtel.

I was asked to call a tollfree number to get the set installed. Same night I called up the tollfree number and they told me that they will send someone to install the set. Next day two persons from Airtel visited my home and installed the set. But due to some problem they couldn't install it properly and went back promising to visit next day again. Before leaving they gave me the shock of my life. They told me that the 2000/- that I have paid is only for the default 65 channels which didn't include my favorite channels Zee, Star Plus, Sahara One, Imagine, Aaj Tak, Zee News, O TV, ETV Oriya, Movie Channels & iNet. When I told them that I was told by the distributor that I will be getting these facilities, they told me that the same distributor has sold several sets promising false commitments to Customers. I got in touch with Airtel peoples and explained how I was cheated and requested them either to take back the handset or compensate me by giving the channels I was promised to. Local airtel officials promised me that they will look into the matter. Though more than 80 days has passed since then nothing has been done till now.

Infact, I am getting a no signal message which has been taken by deaf ears by local airtel peoples.

On 25th when the Airtel staffs left my home after installing my set, asked me to call tollfree number to recharge the voucher as the system was not working in my set top box. I called up Tollfree and recharged my account as per the instruction i received from them. But local Airtel people are saying that my account has not been recharged. Now I have simply a set top box which is simply consuming space in my home without serving any purpose thereof.

I had a lot of faith on Airtel Digital TV seeing all those ads and also after using the Airtel Connection I have been using from Airtel since last two years. Infact, even after starting of Vodafone Service in Bihar, I haven't disconnected the Corporate Connection of Airtel. Hope someone will read this mail and try atleast to resolve my wooes.

Also if someone is listening, would like to understand the escalation matrix for logging a call for any issues.

I bought the airtel digital TV on 14th Jan. Soon two persons from airtel visited my place and installed the DTH equipment and asked me to activate my account after 24 hrs. of installation. And i did the same on 15th Jan but the IVRS said the activation voucher i am using is invalid (i am 100% sure of entering correct PIN no.). So i raised a service request to the customer care service on that day itself. The customer care executive said that they'll look into the issue and resolve the issue as soon as possible and set 20th Jan as deadline to resolve the issue, he also promised that the services will not be blocked as the service request has been raised. He also took the Serial no. and PIN no. from me for reference. I believed the same and was in hope the services will not be affected. But on 18th Jan the services were blocked quoting negative balance. I tried calling customer care center many times but it returned no solution to the issue. Even now the service request is open and has not been solved. Clearly Airtel doesn't know the meaning of the word "deadline". From a customer point of view its is very simple, airtel company has received a sum of Rs 2500/- from my side and yet i am unable to get the services that i was promised. Airtel has failed completely to deliver what it had promised. Also they have no meaning for the word customer satisfaction, so i suggest my peers not to go for Airtel Digital TV as it gives u the "worst" services(worse than u can ever imagine). Tata Sky is the best in the market.
Was trying to communicate to the customer care that POGO does not have English feed but comes only in Hindi, The reply to me was it is not available in English and need to adjust with what was available, When told him to pass on a sugessition to their higher ups regarding this and also added that almost all other Service providers have got English feeds, the customer care agent did not care and did not want to take any feedbacks or sugessitions.
Hence mailed to airtel few weeks ago regarding this and they have not bothered to reply or acknowledge which is just a basic ethics which the customer support industry adhears.

I completely agree with Venkatesh above, we live in Chennai and we used to get English POGO till we bought Air tel Digital.Now my daughter complains that ll her fav cartoon programs are in HIndi, dubbed badly in adult unsuitable voices...I have complained and sent email like Venkatesh too...Too bad about this Hindi nonsense in English original programming channels

I ashish kumar have brought an Airtel digital TV on[protected] with 1850/- pack. My address is J- 2/3, Telco colony near birsa nagar, .My ID No.- [protected]. before one month i m facing some problem, that one message is displaying on screen "inserted card is not an airtel view card or it may be inserted wrongly, please insert the valid view card properly again." I complain to costumer care, they told that u pull the card & then insert again, I repeat this 2 to 3 times but problem still now same.I call to costumer care again 10 to 12 times & they send service engineer & he said that u have to change the setup box but they do not taking any action about change the setup box. At last i m sending an mail to u, i[censored] don't change the setup box before[protected]due date of 3 month)or not take any action, I will go to consumer court.

I have bought airtel digital TV on 13th november 2009 from Nepal border Panitanki, darjeeling and brought it by activating it from there to Pokhara, Nepal, when i connected it here there is no picture and signal loss message is seen in the screen.

my problem is all chenale picture quality not clear this regarding camplaint rageisted on 08.01.2010 complaint number is 1721715. sarvice engeenier asked him sir which place on address .tell him totaly corect address&landmark but sarvice engeenier not vist at home .i waitting for her .when i called them costumer care tell him sir your problem is resolve.so i requestied to you solve this my problem. you informe me solve this problem.
