Barclays Bank Plc, India — credit card late payment and interest charges

There was an outstanding amount of Rs. 36, 330.00 of Feb'08 bill and payment date was 03 March 08. When I asked on 26 Feb 08 the customer care told that his representative will collect the cheque today itself. After repeated calls when he fails to collect the cheque, I was told by customer care on 29 Feb 08 to Drop the cheque in a drop box near petrol pump in DLF Phase-I Gurgoan. i had dropped at the said location on 29 Feb 08.

My cheque is not been presented in the HDFC bank. Then I again call to Barclay customer care on 06 March 08 then representative come to collect on 09 March 08, he confirm that no extra amount to be charged and same was claimed on 14 March 08 by cheque dated 29 Feb 08 bank HDFC Rs. 36, 330.00.
Barclay bank customer care were sending monthly card statement with interest and late payment charges and making repeated calls .On 3 Aug 08 at about 11:00 am from mobile no. [protected] the customer care told that he has not received any payment. Barclay bank are making threatening call & SMS. Today i.e. 05 Aug 08 I receive a SMS for putting my case with 'CIBIL'.

Please guide and help.

Barclay Bank PLC/Credit Card — Late Payment Charges

This is in reference to my Barclay Bank Credit Card [protected] on which there is a wrong late payment fee of Rs. 1200 approx. I used this card in January 2008 and the statement generated on 18th Feb. 2008 but I had not received the statement till 5th March 2008 then on 6th March 2008 I called up the customer care dept. of Barclay Bank that I have to make a payment of Rs. 3973 and the CSE informed me that the due date for the payment is 10th March 2008.

I asked if there is any facility to pay the amount in cash or can Barclay Bank executive visit me and collect the amount then the CSE sd that we do not provide such facility. Then on 7th March 08 I dropped a Citibank cheque of Rs. 3974 in a skypak box in Gurgaon and thought that it takes only 3 days for a local cheque for clerance.

The next month I received statement on e-mail that there is a late payment fee of Rs. 450 on the card as the cheque was cleared on March 15, 2008 but the mini statement which I collected from Citibank showed that the cheque was cleared on March 08, 2008. I called up the customer care and asked for the same the CSE sd that they are taking my request for the reversal for the late fee.

The next month again I received my statement on e-mail which showed that there is late payment fee of Rs. 450 of last month and finance charges also which were Rs. 950 approx.

I wrote an e-mail to Barclay Bank regarding that but they replied that we can not entertain your request for the reveral of the same. I called up the customer care again and asked for the same that CSE talked to me rudely and said that "ye ho hi nahi sakta aap jhooth bol rahe hain" that you dropped cheque on March 07, 2008.

I again wrote an e-mail to Barclay Bank regarding reversal of wrong charges on my card but I had not received any response till 15 days then again I wrote an e-mail to them and I received a response that we can not entertain your request for the reversal of charges.

I started receiving collection calls from the bank I told the whole situation then the collection person said that your card has been blocked and he is taking my request for the reversal of charges.

But after 3 months of my complaint the late fee on the card has not been reversed and the card has been blocked by Barclay Bank and I'm keep on receiving automated collection calls and the information has been forwarded to CIBIL to spoil my credit history.

I very frustrated & harrassed by the Barclay Bank. I would request you to please look into the matter and resolve the matter ASAP.

Now, I'm planning to file a suit in Gurgaon consumer court.

Barclay Bank — Late payment fee

Through Barclay bank I was told of personal loan on Credit card at 21 % but they gave the cheque at 25%. Now when I paid the bill on credit card. SInce they don't have any outlets I had to put it in the drop box. Now they charged my late fee with interest on my credit card number [protected]. This was the first time I ever had to make payment to this bank.
