[Resolved]  HDFC Bank Ergo — Cancellation of Health Insurance

I am Umesh,
on 10th feb 2012, a customer care executive from HDFC ergo called me n told about hdfc ergo health insurance,
I told I am not interested, he told abt the policy, I asked him is that mandatory, he replied "its ur new credit card so u can(must) take it", I asked him twice or thrice, he replied the same, I thought it was mandatory n told ok,

But later I came to know its not mandatory, So I called [protected] requested for cancellation of the policy,they told ur request for cancellation is taken, the policy reference number is HN[protected] , after 2 days some customer care executive called me n spoke for 30mins,stating its not possible to cancel, I told him I need to cancel the policy, after few mins he told, Ok we'll cancel the policy n told it leads a "BLACK MARK in CIBIL Rating"(my name would be added in defaulter list of CIBIL) n he told its "only 640-700rs per month",So whatever he told abt CIBIL was true n told to continue with the policy, later came to know that CIBIL is only for Credit rating n nothing to do with Insurance,

So called [protected] n told to cancel, they told ur request is taken, n I received a call from some number +9122*********** but was busy wid my work so couldn't pick the call, I tried to call that number but some auto generated voice n call got disconnected,

I called [protected] n they told I was not reachable,I re-requested for cancellation, same thing repeated,
Now I need to know, why they need to call me?

Plz cancel my Policy n refund my money to my credit card

I told I am not interested, she told abt the policy, she forced me to make the payment, its very annoyance.

But later I came to know its getting deducted from my credit card not from debit card. I called [protected], no one is picking up the call and even dropped mail as well. but no use it seems.

even if it is cancelled should i pay the amount? will it be refundable?
or will they charge for cancellation? I do not want this policy anymore

This is Aamina Fareed. I had taken the HDFC ERGO Health Insurance policy last week. I want to cancel it. I had called the customer support they told i will have to send a written letter. But i do not know whom to send the letter to. So, hence i am requesting online to please cancel my policy and reimburse my credit limit. And they have activated two policies of which i was unaware. now my question is my payment due date is 28th may, even if it is cancelled should i pay the amount? will it be refundable?
or will they charge for cancellation?

My name is vijay kumar. I want to cancel my health insurance policy as i never wanted it.

One of your executive called me and told me about this policy and i asked him to give me 2-3 days time. Some days after first call i received frequent call from hdfc for health insurance but i told them that i don't need it yet so please cancel it anyway.

The Way their executive talk over the phone is very rude and its look like thay dont have manner. They force you to accept the policy.

Than your executive told me that it could not be possible to cancel the policy as the amount has been blocked from my hdfc credit card.

Than few days later again when i received the call i told him the same to cancel the policy, but he said you can cancel it within 15 days after approval so i gave him approval to proceed. He said if i cancelled this policy within 15 days after approval than i will get my full booked amount back.And afterwards according to the EMI deduction.

Please look into this matter urgently, Now i need to cancel my policy, Please cancel this policy. on let me know the way to cancel the policy.

I called on customer care to cancel my policy and the executive said, we are processed your request of cancellation of the policy and it will take upto 15 days time to cancel the policy.

But on the same day after my cancellation request i received another call to purchase some investment plan. I told to the executive that i am not interested, He argued with me.

I just need to cancel my policy and want my money back in my credit card.

The same mentioned happened for me, first they called me and told that policy is mandatory. later I received a call from their side and asked me you are willing to opt for this insurance, what kind of service you run here HDFC?

then i called the Toll free no:[protected] to cancel the policy. they replied saying it's chargeable and you will receive two calls (one from HDFC Ergo & one from HDFC Banking sector). If you cancel it via Bank there is no service charge. if you cancel via Ergo its 3k chargeable. so i replied to two calls as they said to avoid the further charges. later the agent from HDFC called me and told your policy is cancelled and you will get refund in MAY-2016. Now i haven't got refund so again re-initiated the process and they told will cancel and refund within 15 days.

I don't know how much truth lies behind their answer.

People beware of any calls from HDFC Banking/Insurance/etc., services. Be very alert. If not you will then run out of debts.

The sales team has no manners. They speak in such a way as if they are doing some great help to you by selling the policy.

I agreed to the policy and said ok.

Now I want to cancel my policy. During my first interaction with the sales people I asked them, what is the process if I want to cancel the policy.
They said, you can cancel the policy anytime. The EMI you paid till then will not be reimbursed, but you will not be needed to pay the remaining balance.

Now I called ERGO and asked them to cancel the policy. They are saying you need to make the full payment, till year end. Only then we will cancel the policy.

I mean this is too much. I havent even made any claim. I paid EMI's for 6 months and they are saying they wont cancel unless I pay the amount for remaining 6 months.

I thought I am only one of the rare victims, but after coming to this forum I realize this is a normal behavior by HDFC representatives. Surprisingly same incident has happened to me. She almost forced me to take the policy. I repeatedly told that I am a central govt employee and get full medical coverage. She literally started arguing with me and made me to take the policy. Relationship with HDFC has become a big regret, I must say.

Do we need to actually pay the remaining balance?. I payed amount of Rs. 911/month for more than a year.
The remaining balance is Rs93000/-

The blady Hdfc premium service. I never seen such type of customer care service in my entire life.i have requested three times through call and one time through letter and more over I recorded the call while talking to customer service.

If they are not cancelling policy I will go to consumer court and I will consult banking ombudsman surely... this people drinking the bloods of poor customers like bugs.
the hdfc ergo sales team very stupid people they always tell lies to attract the customer. one of the worst company and policies they are providing.

I am using health plan for last year, i don't want to renew the plan but hdfc bank have no any manners they don't ask me for renewal confirmation call or msg just they without ask me anything wt the f.. i want to register fir if i don't return my money.
