[Resolved]  Reader's Digest — Renewal of Suscription + 3 gifts

Dear Sir,

I have applied for renewal of my subscription through the offer made by Reader's Digest in december, 2008, Through their offer at 42% discount by paying Rs.379/- only (THE CHEQUE WAS DRAWN FROM MY SON'S ACCOUNT -PRADEEP KUMAR JAIN).I have twice called at their office on 5th of this month (Feb, 2009)at NOIDA, they promised to reply within 72 hours but it is almost 14 days passed and since than i have received no reply at all. This is the example of their poor service. Is paying in advance results like this?.

Please advise,

yours faithfully

My complaint is the same as above all others: no place to even find out what the gifts would be, if I could get them - which seems unlikely.

What's the deal, Reader's Digest?
I just discovered a new subscription is no longer 12 issues, but 10 a year. Why? I have noticed the issues are getting thinner and thinner. Come on! I love the Reader's Digest. Don't cut down on issues or content. Also a note about those FREE gifts. Don't fall for it. I am a former mail carrier and know that they send you books and expect you to pay for them. Just don't open them and mark "Return to sender", but if they are Prst. Std. the post office can't return it. I really think this is a scam to get my email address, but I know how to press "Delete." Note to RD: Don't send me any emails.
Renewed my subsucrition Twice & was promised a watch other free gifs but never received even thur I called 6 times & they said it's in the mail Ha Ha
I have subscribed to RD since 1946 and have received these #@*? free gift notices, BUT to this day I have not been able to claim 1 single #@*? FREE GIFT!, Can't even find same on your web site. What gives?????????????????
I did as the other gazillion people have done. Followed the www.readersdigest.com/3free and got the same results. What gives? I have been a subsciber for four years and have never tried to get anything free from Readers Digest until now. And WOW, wouldn't you know it, NOTHING! Just another run around. If I didn't enjoy the rag so much I would suggest we all cancel or not renew our subscriptions and put them out of publication!!!
Have subscribed to RD for years as well as for gifts, but didn't really expect to gt scammed in such a way. Second time it has happened to me. I may not subscribe again. Really thought RD was reputable.
Why is this page only filled with complaints? It even has the word COMPLAINTS in it!.
I read several of the other complaints---why would you charge someone so they can get their free gifts? I do NOT get it. I only went to this site because I got a card "3 FREE GIFTS are waiting for you" along with my first Reader's Digest/

A couple of months ago Readers digest asked me to donate 20 dollars for 2 subscriptions for our army members.I gladly complied. There was no' thank you " note, nothing to acnowledge the gift.I AM NOT GOING TO SUBSCRIBE to the magazine which allows and promotes such scemes.
I, too, have just got a note to get my free gifts. Thanks to all these letters from your disgrunted customers, I am not going to make this mistake.
I am going to complain to the Better Business Bureau. You all should do the same, folks.
Lu.
Send those three gifts that I'm supposed to be recieveing>? Or let me know why not>?
Same experience as the other comments, nothing on www.readersdigest.com/3free web site on how to get these free gifts. My card was sent from Red Oak, IA
its nice to give readers digest as a gift and receive the nothing :RECEIVE 3 FREE GIFTS.

Lost all respects for the digest...Next year its CONSUMER REPORT to all my gifts
A few years ago I cancelled my subscription because of so many unwanted offers!! It took me hours on the phone to get off all the different lists!!

Of course I came back later!! Now can I just get off all mailing lists except for my bill shortly before it is due?????

I especially want to discontinue getting free gift offers as all my friends get it or do not want it!!

Lastly - am I correct in saying I am paid up until Nov 2010 for my copy.?? Please let me know. Thank you,
Patricia Keogh.
I am 78 and have had readers digest in my house since I was a child. For the past few years I have been disappointed in the lack of jokes that just aren't funny, too many comercials to pull out before reading, and not enough true life inspiring stories as you used to have. You seem to be gearing your info to the younger crowd forgetting reading is for people of all ages. Too much info on items relating to the 30 & 40 group with children. Not interested in that. Health is good info, food, how to, etc.For the first time I went into your site for my 3 free gifts and feel as though I have been scammed. Shame on you!!!I support the troops with my gift subscription, send for music cd and was totally bummed out as it was not as represented and cost me almost $20 more then stated with the shipping charges. Can I return the discs please as they are not what I thought they would be. Please become what you have been for most of my life----THE READERS DIGEST not the readers digest you are now. Sincerely, Joan D. Freire
This is a terrible way to do business. You you should be ashamed of yourself Readers Digest this is a terrible way to treat people and I hope you can't sleep at night..You are not a reputable company by engaging in these tactics and you will get no further subscriptions from me!
Tried your instructions on the card regarding the 3 free gifts and found nothing but complaints.25a28
How do I get my 3 free gifts? Got card in the mail. Said go to www.readersdigest.com/3free. How do I receive them? Charlotte Hern
You never deliver what you promised, about the 3 free gifts. I have written you before about this
problem. I hope you resolve this issue pretty soon and send all the SUBSCRIBERS the 3 free
gifts that we were promised.

Thank you
Why offer 3 free gifts and NOT follow through and send the gifts. Just send the 3 free gifts to our home address at Gertrud W. Kuckhahn

Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

Thank you.

I called up this morning to tell your customer service that you have lots of complains on the computer about the 3 Free Gifts. You better look at it. Or you will lose your customers. I didnt hear anything maybe you dont care. I would like to hear from you. Rutyh Nyhuis a customer.5df4e
I ordered a trial subscription month or two ago...it was not longer before I had email regarding payment for the subscription...I had not even received my First FREE copy yet...This arrived Today, with Insertto go to readersdigest.com/3free... don't see any way to order the gifts or what they are, etc...it brought me to this Complaint sight. Wow, very Disappointed. Reader's Digerst has always been a Reputable company. I will Keep the Free Issue - Because "TIM MCGRAW" is on the cover...one good reason... But, plan to cancel the Subscription (I didn't fall for Pay now gimmick)...esp. when they OFFER a FREE TRIAL issue first (but think nothing of billing the customer BEFORE they even receive it- real good business Ethics)... I will write CANCEL on the Billing statement and return future copies. Very disappointed. I was thinking of ordering 2 additional subscriptions for family members but glad I read these complaints first...
