[Resolved]  Tata Sky — formation of new add on packs

sir i wanted to complain against the dirty tricks played by tata sky to loot customers. what they have done now is that they have added crucial channels like ESPN, STAR SPORTS AND STAR CRICKET to a new add on pck called "SPORTS PLATINUM" it costs rs. 75 a month .they already have a "SPORTS GOLD" PACK with NEO SPORTS AND NEO CRICKET in it. this pack costs rs.30 a month. total a customer has to pay is RS.105 only for sports channels on the cost of the base pack which is RS.250. they also have a "LIFE STYLE GOLD add on PACK" costing RS.30 A month and a "LIFESTYLE SILVER pack"(with channels like BBC in it) costing another RS. 30 a month. isn't it unfair to charge extra from customers for common channels like BBC, ESPN, STAR CRICKET STAR SPORTS ETC.( especially ...india being a nation which loves sports with cricket being of highest priority).
consider this, i have to pay over RS.400 to view just the common indian channels and not any international channel. isn't it unfair???
please ...help me and the other 2 million customers of tata sky

I agree 100%. Please do something, everytime they come up with new channels the end up charging a lot, and this time even without any new channels the price is going up. I used to pay Rs. 300 P.m. for there super saver pack and now for all the same channels in different pack i shall be paying Rs. 345 P.m. for the same channels!!!
TODAY I FIND THAT BBC CHANNELS ARE TAKEN OFF IN ADDITION TO SPORTS CHANNELS ESPN, STAR & STAR CRICKET. THEN THEY HAVE REDUCED THE PRICE. BUT THEIR SITE SHOWS ALL THE DROPPED CHANNELS AS PART OF THE PACKAGE.

IF THIS IS NOT CHEATING THEN WHAT IS IT ?

Tata Sky — Sports channels(ten sports&espn)not available

My ID id [protected] and not able to see any sports channels since two days back although these are indluded in the package.
TATA SKY simply doesnt care for its customers. They have chopped the four or five sports channels into three optional packages...!! What a feat !! calling it silver..gold..platinum and god knows what next. I am sure Amritha and Indiavision will return with labels of southern splendor or southern spice !! . Very soon they will start splitting even one channels into two pacakges !! you will see the left half of the screen in one package and if you want to see the right side you will have to buy another package !!.

You have to pay even for BBC which is a free to air channel all over the world !!

Time to give TATA SKY the boot !!
I agree to this. Tata Sky is looting customers like anything . They will be thrown out of the market completely when big guns like Anil Ambani enter the DTH market . I will wait for one more year before disconnecting this service . Dear Customers, pass on this sincere messgae/recommend the fellow customers not to take a Tata sky connection .
I was using South Jumbo package for Rs350, which included the sports channels as well as BBC channels. Now if I want to watch all my original channels I have to pay Rs 380 - Rs 40 for the sports plus 30 for BBC channels plus 310 for the basic package. This is cheating.
I think we need to lodge an official complaint to TRAI, also with a petition in PetitionOnline.
If you agree with me we can all proceed together on this...

They have pulled off the sports channels with big big events like EURO 2008 coming. I paid for the 'add-on' package for espn, star sports and star cricket but they still havent played the channels on my set-top box. What's more, their helpline numbers were jammed for a week and when they cleared today, they dont connect us to any agent, its a waste of time calling them. To stop getting bricks thrown at them, they have evn disabled their website, which is very hard connect to these days (not a problem with internet speed, many friends have experienced this). This is a clear case of looting and cheating.
This is harassing the customer.
Why don't the think of increasing the customer base rather that, getting money from existing customers. I do not think any body will take action against them. ESPNSTAR is issuing public notices, but will it help except realizing customers that how foolish they are with Tata Sky.
I had already complained to their customer care department last week after Tata Sky has taken off 2 of our regional channels, "Amrita" & "Indiavision". The response I got from Tata Sky was very funny. According to them, they have made a survey on these 2 channels & found that not many people are watching & the Management has decided to take it off. What is our fault if others are not watching it???! we are paying for it!!! whey have they not deducated subscription amount if at all they want to remove such channels????!!!

I bought Tata Sky connection to watch last World Cup cricket matches on Neo Sports & the moment World Cup was over, they have taken off these sports channels and made it pay channels. Now they are playing this dirty tricks again with other sports channels in view of Euro Cup which starts on 7th June. They add channels as if they like & remove them whenever they want. We are paying a sum of Rs. 300 every month for ordinary channels & if things go like this we will end up paying this money to only watch the National Channel.

I've seen a notification from Star Sports, ESPN & Ten Sports on Times Of India dated 5-6-08 that Tata Sky has taken off these channels on their own & they should not be blamed. Can somebody please act immediately & teach them a lesson.
I am totally furious about TataSky and its dirty tactics. The courts has ruled them to show Espn-Start Sports, but they are taking n12 days to fix it. Euro cup is starting today. In 12 days, it'll half way through the tournament. This is really depressing. I should have bought DishTV, rather than this one. Am i going to be suck like this? Just complaining and nothing happening in return?
In the garb of giving flexibility of choice, Tata Sky has very cunningly increased the subscription charges. I had subscribed to Super Saver Pack for Rs 300 per month. If I were to restore all channnels removed, I would end up paying about Rs. 35 more, i.e Rs. 260 for the revised cost of Super Saver pack plus Rs. 40 for the removed ESPN Sports pack plus Rs 35 for the removed BBC Channels.
Tata Sky had a few months back removed about 13 channels arbitrarily.
All this is sullying the fair name of Tatasons and I am inclined to swithch over to Cable.

or aapke showcase bhi bahoot mahanga hai.

aap log to bas tv dekhana hamari majburi samajane lage hai
or hamari majburi ka puri faayada uthana chahate hai.
but ye hamari majburi nahi hai.
ek aam aadmi tatasky ki bajay cabale le jyada khush ishiliye rahata hai.

sir i would like when zee takaies will start on tatasky or not then have marathi channel for marathi movies from any just like star or any other and special request to seclect the channels by customer
because i iam marathi i dont need religion channel just like kannada, tami.nepali etc.
I totally agree with the greedy actions of Tata sky. I have to subscribe sports chanel seprately, don have any english channel subscribed, and am currently paying 350re. where as earlier i used to pay only 160re for the cable connection(sports + english + hindi) and used to get all chanels.
These pepole has placed all the better channels seperatly. so that they get max profits. but u not oly get the profits u also get the curse.
do i have anyway, so that i can sell the tatasky settop and again become the cable tv person.

i have 8 connection of tatasky at my residence out of that one set of box is not working long back & am trying hard to lodge the complaint on the tatasky helpline but no response Also sent mail on their web site on contact us coloumn but this effort is also gone into vein .

Yes, I strongly agree with the comments my Indian friends have stated in view of their experience with tata sky.Tata being an Indian company is cheating people like anything.There shouldn't be any package system. Customer should be given the choice to choose their own channels with respect to their interests.Who is interested to watch all other regional channels which is available on local cable network which we get it for very minimal rate.This issue is to be brought to the media so that no one will again dare do like this. Indians ko kya bevkhoof samaj ke rakha hai kya ?Agar sara Hindusthan ek ho jaye na, yahan koi Tata Sky nahi chalne wala.
Even i my case i took my connection in 2006 and the package was known as Sports extra which includes ESPN, Start Sports, STAR Cricket, TEN Sports and DD Sports after that i paid extra Money for NEO Sports and NEO Cricket.

Now they have taken off all the Sports Channels except NEO and still i pay the same amount as earlier (Rs. 1000 per 3 Months ) but for less channels.

My digi comp is not receiving any signal since 1-1-'09, when i raised a complaint on the Hotline no they enquired about various things & asked to unscrew the main wire & screw it up gain. I did all but it didn't worlk & my digi comp was still out of any signal strength..Today again i called up at the hotline & again they are enquiring various things, I'm a working Executive at TATA & informed them that I'm not in front of the TV right now & requested to send some Executive at my place which they denied. Rather informed that Executive will charge rS 350/- for a visit. At one hand the Customer service represenative says that this happned due to some changes in software, then why is the customer being penalised for that.
I would request for the rectification of digi comp problem ASAP & also my daily debit to be waived off.
