I REALLY DONT THINK TATASKY REALLY CARES FOR ITS CUSTOMERS
I HAD PUT IN REQUEST FOR RELOCATION OF CONNECTION FROM AHMEDABAAD TO DELHI
I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD COME ON 26/08/09 AT 11am

therafter i got a call from the field engineeers that they would be coming by 3.30pm
then postponed to 5.30
then ...6.30pm

ultimately dint turnup

i called up the tatasky customer care section, spoke to the team leaders in hyderabad center,
but neither could they give me an answer as why it was not done
nor an an assurance that it would be done as i had taken a day off from work

all i could know was thatt without informing me the field engioneer Mr. Pandey had rescheduled iit to 27th sep09

and the standard line"we apologize for it" but we cannot rectify our mistake

i think with this experience i would definitely switch to better service providers, maybe BIG TV, DISH TV

i in totalty agree with the complaints complait.i am also faceing problem.i got tatasky installed seven months back.and from 8th of this month it went out of order accordingly i registerd complaint.it took me twodays to register it because of no proper response.finaly complaint was registerd on 10th .engineers came and said the box is hanged can not be repaired therefore needs to be replaced. i fail to understand about the durablity of the product by such company claiming lot of consumer friendly slogans.now every time when asked the un reasonable reply is that this product is out of stock.. so how long it will remain out of stock????????????.no reply.my embraracing suitation can be understood when my two small kids wating for there favourite programs at their tv time.

    Hi,
    I 'm using Tata sky from the last 1 1/2 year. From the last one week i'm facing signal problem
    All the channels are hanging once in every 10-15 seconds. I had called upon the tata sky associate.
    He told me to reset the digicom to solve the problem. But still the problem is persisting.

      an my complain is tht once by mistake i ordered a showcse event an it charrged me 75rs, an as soon as i ordered tht i had given call to customer care an to stop the showcase event as it was of next day..the executive told me tht it will be cancelled an nio amt will be deducted frm a/c.when i saw next day i had received msg tht your 75 rs has been deducted, i am very angry tht they are bluffing customer by deducting amt frm the a/c...

        I'm registering a complain on this website for the first time, I don't know how far it is implemented and action is taken.

        COMPLAIN AGAINST TATA SKY

        TATA SKY is not providing many channels which are free to air plus they are not providing few channels in a package. Following is only an example (there're other packages as well)

        For EG: In India the Zee Network`s sidters sites are: In Hindi Networks: Zee TV, Zee Business, Zee Cinema, Zee Classic, Zee Music, Zee News, Zee Premiere, Zee Smile, Zee Sports, Zee Trendz, ETC Music, ETC Punjabi; In English Networks: Zee Action, Zee Café, Zee Select, Zee Studio, Zee Kasturi; In Regional Channels: Zee Bangla, Zee Gujarati, Zee Kannada, Zee Kashmir, Zee Marathi, Zee Punjabi, Zee Telugu, Zee Talkies.

        Channels provided are: Zee tv, Zee Cinema, Zee Trendz, ETC Punjabi, Zee cafe, Zee Studio, Zee Bangla, Zee Gujarati...most importantly being in KARNATAKA Zee Kannada is not a part of the package.

        After talking to one of the agents of TATA SKY, I was told that the channels will be included but was not told when..which is very clear that, they will not include those channels

        It is interesting that, when I entered the name TATA SKY there was a pop up saying, there're 81 complaints against TATA SKY. My question is: are all complaints taken care?
        is it really worth writing here? or am I wasting my time like every other citizens?

        Tata Sky is not providing A2Z Channel, Zee Jagran, MH Shraddha Channels etc.
        Why ????????
        Kindly make them available as soon as possible.
        I am a Tata Sky Customer from last 1.5 yrs. But seeing this response of Tata Sky against Availability of my favourite Channels I and my nieghbours are making our mind to switch over another Cable Services that r providing the above channels.

          we bought tata sky dish tv 15 days back. but till now it is not started working. no response for our calls or ignored. so we want to return the set. we are not satisfied with the kanya kumari district, tamilnadu, dealers.

          Tata Sky Dish TV — NO response on installation

          Hi

          I had purchased an LG LCD with a free scheme dated 14th June09, where i was supposed to get a TATASKY.i purchased this from KD ELECTRONICS, NOIDA
          AGENT TO SENT TATA SKY ---SPECTRAMIND, noida

          I have all the bills, letters intact with me

          after long follow up i received the TATA sky but my grievence continues ..... when i call up TATASKY..they simply refuse to install under this scheme
          they say they can install but will charge 500 + monthly package money

          Strangely i feel a lot of betrayal running from the DEALER-- KD , SPECTRAMIND & TATA customer care, this is a harresement from the dday i purchased the TV

          is there any one who can help me win this battle??

          i have been talking to tatasky for 15 days now without any help

          the letter clearly says that we dont need to pay anything

          Since you have got your Tata Sky at your door step What you have been offered is the hardware of Tata Sky. The monthly subscription fee is 125/- and the standard installation charges is 1000/- so according to the deal they offered you much cheaper then the actual installation expenditure. The letter might be informing about the digicomp hardware for free. This could be a reason but I have had Tata Sky for the past two years and have recently upgraded to Tata Sky+ and have benefitted with their after sale services.

            PLEASE CHECK THE YELLOW ENVELOP FOR INCORRECT DEDUCTIONS EACH TIME IT POPS UP ON YOUR SCEEEN.Tata Sky is not as secure as they advertise and there are either bugs in their system or fraud.

            Since end August 2008, Rs 5 is being deducted on random days by Tata Sky from our account when we have NOT played the game called 'The Wall' ever, hence not sent any code through any sms to 56633. It has been deducted over 10 times in the last two weeks. So we have been charged over 50 rs (and counting) for nothing. Perhaps as I am typing this, another Rs 5 will get deducted.

            Whenever there is a deduction, a yellow envelop pops up on the TV screen to tell you so. Rs 5 is an amount which can easily escape the eyes of those who even bother to read their TV bill statements. Can you imagine the amount of money being cheated off TAta sky subscribers?

            There are ACTIVE games, for which tata sky users need to send - through sms, a code that has been generated on their TV sets to a no.56633 after which Rs 5 will be deducted from their Tata Sky account. THe code gets generated on the TV only if the user plays the game.

            When I complained to Tata Sky, they tell me that they received an sms from my mobile phone . We never sent any sms! We are unable to prove it because prepaid sim card holders like me do not have access to statements of smses and calls made from prepaid sim cards.

            When I called my service provider Airtel, the they told me that as per their records, no sms has been sent from my phone and that if I needed a stmt for a prepaid connection, I can get it at a police station. How can Tata Sky charge when we never played a game, never saw any code generated on our TV, never sent any sms to Tata Sky with that code? But again and again that little yellow envelop pops up telling us that Rs 5 is deducted as a charge for playing some game on Tata sky.

            As of this email, we even changed our registered mobile no. with Tata Sky. THe charges are still being deducted from our account, even AFTER Tata sky waived some of the the incorrect charges. Tata Sky is not as secure as they advertise and there are either bugs in their system or fraud.
            Please warn all Tata sky users to be careful.

            I have been a loyal tata sky customer and this is definitely not something that has ever happened to me. ..Even if an error like that occurs m sure Tata, which is known for its customer service will never handle it like this.I have gotten my minute issues handled so well by them all this while and have seen the kind of professionalism that they have shown and this does not sound like them.

                ID no. [protected]: I ordered the connection online on[protected], and paid for it. The digicomp was delivered on[protected], but installation was not feasible as my flat is on the 3rd floor of a 16-storey building and there is no window/verandah facing south-east for placing the dish antenna, as required, for proper reception of signals. Placing the dish antenna on the terrace was not feasible as the cable required was very long which I was told would weaken the signals. I was assured that the digicomp would be taken back and I would get the refund, but to-date (almost two months later), nothing has happened. I have called the call centre, I have spoken to the Team Leader, Mr. Santosh Gupta, several times and he has also assured me that I will get the refund. In fact, Mr. Gupta told me on August 21st that the Mumbai area manager, Mr. Prashant Sangam has sent an e-mail to the company's head office in Bangalore and that I should get a refund in 4 days' time. Now he is not even answering my 'phone calls.

                Further to my complaint posted on[protected], TataSky has refunded the entire amount paid by me, and they have assured me that the digicomp will be collected shortly.

                I withdraw my complaint fully.

                Tata Sky — not refunding money

                InMay;2011 we paid money by credit card 1199Rs for set up box second connection. At night only we paid money by credit card & very next morning we got coupon of 4000Rs from LG tv dealer for HDset up box & 3months subscription.Iimmediately informed tata sky & told them to use that 1199 for making second connection subscription for one year inplace of three months but they said we will return that money in your account & you deposit 1500 Rs extra.I got recharged that amount on 4th June.Then they did it for one year.When they came for install second setup box that time also i confirmed for about my 1199Rs & the person(Mr Chawla) who came to install also talked to tata sky people before taking that coupon.Since then uptin number of times i rang them up but every time 1st they will say there is no such complaint now i will note your complaint & account people will talk to you but neither they are talking or returning money.


                Tata Sky are not having any local number for Delhi every time we have to spend lot of money for talking to them.This should also be corrected.

                  TataSky does not show any Islamic channels (whether paid or free) whereas they show several other religion channels. On repeated requests since last one year, there is only one answer - "We would like to inform you that presently these channels are not included in our packages. However, should we include these channels anytime in the future on our platform the same will be informed to you through an alert and this information will also be updated on our website www.tatasky.com". I have heard from other persons requesting the same, but in vain

                  It seems TataSky is biased in this matter.

                    in the first week of july i had applied for TATA sky installation at my house in Kharghar, navi mumbai. next day i received the set top box after paying Rs. 2500/-- from tata sky agent Viva marketing in Mumbai.after delivering the set top box company did not send any engineer with dish antenna to install the system.
                    having waited for 20 days i requested them to take back the set top box return the amont i have paid but all vain. Company is neither installing the sytem nor returning the amount.please help me solve the matter

                      Dear Sir,

                      I would like to complain about the misbehave of TATA SKY installation- engineer and later when I complained this to the Tata Sky toll free number, they registered the complaint but didn't resolved it for last 10 days. I am still waiting for the engineer visit the site and install the dish. the entire mtter is give below :

                      I purchased the TATA SKY and paid for TATA SKY product - Rs. 15000- plus Installation charges Rs. 1000/- and monthly subscription charges Rs. 300/- total Rs. 2800/- to the Tata Sky dealer in Kandivali-E, mumbai. I was given the work order number - 1-[protected], for dish installationon and it was scheduled on 23-Aug-08. The engineer [VIJAY-[protected] ] visited my house, surveyed the site and forcefully asked me to purchase some additional accesories (iron plate) of Rs. 500/-. When i asked why should invest so much or give me alternative. he told me that you have to purchase it otherwise i'll use long wire and you have to pay for extra wire, when i asked him about the estimate of the wire and the cost he refused. He told that i can not give you the estimate, first of all i'll install then i'll tell you the cost and you have to bear the cost. when i insisted, he refused to work and misbehaved and disconnect the phone. when called him again and asked why did you disconnected the call, he told me that i'll do it and i will not install the dish. do whatever you can do and moved from my house. i was not at home, my wife was there and he misbehaved and moved from without informing.

                      Later when lodged the complained at TATA SKY toll free number, my complaint was registered and compliant numbr- 1-[protected], was given. I was assured that the matter will be taken care of and the installation will be done in 48 hours. i waited for next 3 days but the installation was not done.

                      i called again to the toll free number and informed the representative abhishek about the case, he told me that they will look into it and some one will visit the site next day. he also told me that the engineer [vijay - [protected] ] has told them that the customer was not ready to pay the installation charges. this is absolutely wrong, as i have already paid the fee during the purchase of the product. The engineer is lieing and misbehaving. I asked the representative to update their database and include my reply on the same. he assured me and gave me Service Request number - 1-[protected].

                      Till 29th noone visited the site, i called up again and spoke to piyush - TSA, he again registerd the complaint and assured me the some will visit on 30th aug.

                      Today is 30th aug and it is 19.00pm no one visited the site. I called the tata sky toll free number and again they saying telling me the same story of engineer's reply and false assurance that someone will visit and do the installation. I am suffering for last so many days facing the misbehaviour of TATA SKY engineer and false assurances of their representatives. i have invested money and it is going waste for me. there is not return on the same.

                      please look into it and get the matter resolved.

                      please take some action, if possible, against all this misbehaviour.

                        TATA Sky has started to exclude channels from the package quite frequently of late. If one has purchased a package of 120 channels, TATA Sky suddenly excludes a few channels from the package and tries to resell it as a separate package for which the consumers have to shell out extra amount. This racket has been going on for the last 6 months. Sports channels, Movie channels and even religious channels are suddenly withdrawn from the package and the consumer is left high and dry. I hope such cases of cheating is given wide publicity by other TATA sky users and the company is punished for such low mentality cheating.

                        Tata Sky DTH Connection — set up box is dead

                        I have registered a complaint to tata sky DTH (cable tv connection direct to home) , about set box provided by company . Set box is not working .Complaint no WO Number : 1-[protected]. on Date[protected]. Company engineeres came to my home and set box is checked . Decided to replace the set up box .                           Sub: Quality of Service & Redressal of Grievances Regulation, 2007



                          It is regretted that Tata Sky’s discourteous silence and its anti-consumer policies, together with numerous deficiencies in its service, forces me into this situation. I am writing my letter of complaint to you, before I proceed to take up the many deficiencies and irregularities in the services promised, offered and inefficiently executed by Tata Sky, in the relevant legal fora. Unless Tata Sky can satisfactorily rectify all the complaints within 15 days of receipt of this letter, I shall be forced to file my case with the Honourable Court, without any further notice to Tata Sky.



                          It is a matter of shock and shame that Tata Sky’s continues to flout TRAI directives which clearly obligate the DTH operator to offer certain minimum standards and adhere to fair practices, and lays out parameters of operation.



                          I. Deficiency of Service - No transmission when it is cloudy



                          As you may be aware there is a complete loss of Tata Sky’s signal as soon as clouds gather over the city of Kolkata. This happens for about 100 days a year, which means I am forced to pay about 25% to 30% more than what the operator advertises. Its flimsy excuse that it offers “best” world-class services and that some transmission loss is inevitable when it is cloudy (as the clouds come in between the dish and the satellite!), holds no water. If what Tata Sky says is correct, the city of London should receive DTH signals about 20% to 25% through the year on an average. The only obvious answer is that Tata Sky has dumped outdated and cheap technology to its Indian customers. It is a laughable claim that Tata Sky states its partners or technology partners to be a UK DTH operator company which apparently provides non-interrupted service to UK residents (despite the cloudy or rainy weather in UK). Is this discrimination or just that Tata Sky has purchased outdated technology?

                          Tata Sky still do not even have any local Helpline number in Kolkata or the eastern states (leave alone a toll-free number as directed by TRAI) owing to the fact that the monsoon is the longest here and it would be flooded with complaints during the monsoons.



                          II. LACK OF TRANSPARENCY



                          Tata Sky is not properly showcasing that each customer of its service must pay an ADDITIONAL sum of Rs. 500 per year for maintenance. Perchance this sum is not paid, the operator charges Rs. 300 minimum as an inspection fee in the event there is any problem at all with the service, even though such a problem may arise owing to no fault of the customer.



                          Tata Sky do not state that the MEANINGLESS words “Covered Fault” actually means that ALL faults are uncovered, after 1 year.

                          Tata Sky highlights and loudly advertises that its service has “Unmatched Features” and “Unmatched Services”. However it fails to advertise, in the same way, the not-so-palatable facts such as:



                          TATA SKY GUARANTEES NO SIGNAL WHEN IT IS CLOUDY.

                          TATA SKY GIVES NO REFUNDS EVEN If NO INSTALLATION IS DONE.

                          CUSTOMER MUST PAY ADDITIONAL RS. 500 YEARLY AFTER FIRST YEAR TO COVER ANY FAULT SERVICING.

                          WHEN TATA SKY SAYS “COVERED FAULTS” IT MEANS NO FAULTS ARE COVERED UNLESS YOU PAY EXTRA.

                          TATA SKY DOES NOT OFFER ANY TOLL FREE TELEPHONE NUMBERS.

                          BE PREPARED TO PAY STD CHARGES WHEN YOU WISH TO SPEAK WITH TATA SKY EVEN IF TATA SKY SYSTEM IS FAULTY.

                          TATA SKY RETAINS RIGHTS TO WITHDRAW ANY FREE CHANNEL AS AND WHEN IT WANTS WHETHER CUSTOMER LIKE IT OR NOT.

                          WE DO NOT FOLLOW TRAI DIRECTIVES.



                          III. LACK OF NOTICE BY TATA SKY



                          Tata Sky does not make any effort to advise its customers, whether by email, sms, phone call or letter, regarding the expiry of the one year warranty provided at the point of sale.



                          It does not advise its customers that the so-called Helpline number with digits 1 860 is NOT a toll-free number. We pay STD charges for reporting any defect in THEIR service.



                          IV. “NO REFUND” POLICY IS UNFAIR AND ANTI-CONSUMER



                          Tata Sky and its agents who distribute Tata Sky’s set-top boxes (aka Digicomps) strictly follow the immoral policy of not refunding moneys paid for such digicomps, including installation and activation of services, even if the installation is not done! I have personally fallen foul as a prey to this obnoxious policy of the DTH operator company.



                          After receiving my request for a 3rd connection, Tata Sky introduced its agent/representative, M/s Okay Call Tech to contact me to sell one Digicomp No.[protected], together with Tata Sky’s Digicard No.[protected], vide its Invoice No. 1457/07-08 dated 24th March, 2008, at a “discounted/special offer” sum of Rs. 1999, which included Activation and Installation charges as levied by the operator.



                          Until date, 27th July, 2008 (more than FOUR months), the box lies unconnected and no installation or activation has taken place, despite my many requests earlier to arrange the same. (I hope Tata Sky does not now try to find excuses for the delay in its ploy to not refund my moneys!) Ultimately, I had asked the company to refund the moneys paid by me, together with interest. NO ACTION!

                          The question of ownership of the Digicomp is vague; although a customer pays for it, and installation (including cabling etc), it appears that Tata Sky remains owner of the Dish and its attachments and ALL hardware, which one assumes would include the set-top box.



                          V. UNCLEAR AND ARBITRARY WARRANTY POLICY



                          It appears a deliberate strategy that Tata Sky does not rent out such boxes as done by the entire cable industry and as directed by you. However, it is very clear when it states that the Dish and its attachments are its property. If these are Tata Sky’s property, why should it charge the customer any money for rectification to any defects in service? If the dish etc are included in the monthly rental charged by it, how can it charge us moneys for any defects which may arise in the equipment or in the transmission? Tata Sky says the digicard belongs to it and that the hardware includes all equipment including the digicomp, remote control etc. However, it also asserts that the customer must pay a separate charge to warrant against defects, the equipment belonging to the operator.



                          VI. ILLEGAL AND UNETHICAL PRACTICES OF TATA SKY



                          It is also well-documented that, despite Tata Sky assertations that it does not allow one customer’s dish to be used by another customer, Tata Sky and its agents are freely following this practice rampantly for its own selfish ends of profiteering. If a problem arises in one dish, it can charge the service or inspection fee to FOUR customers, for any repairs which are carried out after the one year’s warranty period. This is grossly unfair and illegal. Does this mean the dish belongs to Tata Sky and it can handle it as it wishes? How does Tata Sky ascertain which customer is responsible for a malfunction?



                          In short, Tata Sky Limited have not followed any of TRAI directives:



                          1. Changing schemes frequently, by withdrawing channels offered earlier

                          2. Refusing to refund moneys for equipment and installation

                          3. Charging arbitrary fee to customers for rectifying faults in your system

                          4. Refusing to allow access to service on rental basis

                          5. Not arranging Toll-Free services helplines for lodging complaints

                          6. Not rectifying faults nor attending complaints within 5 days



                          I request you to take appropriate measures to provide a consumer with some relief! In addition, if you are able to enforce your directives, I feel it would be of great help to millions of consumers in India.

                            My son, Lalit Dutt, had tatasky connection in Bhiwani. On his transfer, he requested for the transfer of this connection to Delhi to his parents .A technician came and set the Dish at rooftop, laid the cable to start, but it did not work. He told that Digicamp is defictiv and needs to be changed at a cost.We agreed and told him that payment for transfer including cable cost will be made only after he starts the tv. He promised that he will come within 2 to 3 days and start the system . It happened about three months ago . I am still waiting for him. Unfortunately, I dont have any contact no .
                            I can give tata sky nds no. and my home address which may help you to locate the persons looking after this area.

                              I was, perhaps, one of the first few to rush and get a Tatasky connection. I simplistically thought that the name "Tata" would somehow ensure a basic minimum quality. Now I understand that this is precisely the sort of credulity that these people exploit.

                              1. May package is randomly changed without any notice.
                              2. The helpline is pathetic joke. You waste your precious time and money hearing their ads; after about ten minutes a human voice answers -- either trying to speak an American accent pathetically or speaking your local language which is worse.
                              3. The call centre people are absolutely irritating -- they only explain a problem and are absolutely witless about your own problem. Their best line of defense is "we will take this matter to our technical support staff and get back to you." However, the promised "getting back" never materialises.
                              4. I now understand why people hack TV programmes and Softwares. Simply put: You cheat them and they cheat you back.
                              5. I am now deseperately trying to sell my connection for whaterver price I can ge.

                              Tata sky has become a funny company now and whoever is handling marketing seems to be out of touch with reality.

                              The Set Top Box is now loaded with a version of software that takes ages to boot up. and when it does, it switches on to the so called " help" channel, which is basically tata advertisement. This is very irritating.

                              BBC bouquet is now off. You have to pay more. Why do these people fleece us like This. Good Channels like Amritha is off.

                              Tata Sky has one of the worst help centres. Their call centre staff are not easily available are ill-informed. They are just chattering boxes who waste your valuable time and telephone money.
                              I, miss sweety singh using tata sky since 3years,i waz satisfied till 1 year bt now i am fed up o[censored]sing TATA sky every month we pay for our entertainment and they are giving very bad service to thier consumers half of the channels dont come only like colors,b4 it used to happened during rain bt now when we start tv it always writes that "your digicomp is nt recieving signal" if they dont solve this problem then i will switch to other DTH
                              i would better suggest nobody should take tata sky.

                                It is obvious that very soon, Any of the dish channel adds and supports the Qtv channel and other islamic channels, If tata sky doesn't support some one will definitely do that.

                                  I have to state that even after recharging the subscription with a Rs. 300/- recharge voucher No.[protected], I am unable to view the Tata Sky service (48 hours have already passed since top up)
                                  I am totally disgusted with their service and am taking this to the Consumer Forum.

                                  Even though I am unable to view the channels, they are charging me on a daily basis.
                                  Tata sky has to stop charging me for no service & give me more grace days for the non resumption of service

                                    I bought tatasky last month..nw i want to move to a lower package ie from rs 260 per month(super saver pack) to rs 200 per month(family pack)..but instead of calling customer care several times and holding the line for a very long period no one is turning up and my mobile bill is also decreasing swiftly as they dont have any toll free service for customers...moreover i logged on to my tata sky to change my package but to my dismay there website also does not work and they r telling to call the customer care..i even dont know whether i will be able to change my package...they r cheating their customers...what a nice service tatasky is providing to their consumers...disgusting and disappointing..

                                    they're website is EXTREMELY SLOW.

                                    For a tech company this is unacceptable. Esp if you want to recharge online.
                                    Buying Tatasky was a huge mistake. I'm unable to login to their site (selfservice.tatasky.com/protal) from about 2 months. I think Tata and Sky was a huge mistake on Tata side... I have multiple items from tata including a car... i think Sky's just hell-bent on messing TATA name...

                                      I want to inform you that, I bought TATA sky on dated 26/11/2006. Now it has some technical or electrical problem. I have submitted written complaint on dated, till now we are daily in contact with customer care executive & in response they always told tomorrow our Engineer will check the complaint .But nobody has care about the problem. Nobody form TATA Sky executive has contact.
