I have this shipment with waybill number [protected]. After receiving the bill of entry, i can check that i have been charged customs incorrectly. The product was taken under hs code 9804 wheres the product should have been taken under hs code 8517. Its a push button type wireless device and is supposed to be taken under chapter 85 with hs code 8517. The product has been imported previously and the import data says that the hs code is 8517. Dhl has charged me incorrectly by not inspecting the item, the package wasnt even opened. The reply that i got from mr sunil mishra is that they charge customs irrespective of the goods. There is a reason that the government has created sections and chapters for calculating customs and duty on products.

    I imported an electronic drumstick from sweden which costed me $99.
    Dhl india calls me up and says i need to pay a customs duty of rs.4130. Which is equal to $63. Isn't it ridiculous? The highest percentage of customs for electronics is 28%. And this is a peripheral. Which should attract a customs of 14%.
    When asked for invoice, they send me some sheet with all scribblings over it. Like some forged copy.
    What the hell is this? Is this how you do business?

      I have submitted my kyc documents online on dhl. Documents include - adhaar card and my employee id. Since i'm currently doing an internship in new delhi so i gave my office address as the address for the delivery of the product so that i can be available to collect it. Why the hell it has rejected my documents? It says need something on letter head, why should i write it on letter head when the product is on my name.

        We shipped a package from usa to india on august 20th guaranteed to be delivered by the 26th to the receipient in india. The airway bill number is # awb-[protected] now its been over a month and the package is yet to be delivered, the recipient in india has received numerous calls from a dhl representative, mohammad afsar, dhl classification agent who first called demanding more money saying the package was not weighed correctly and money was owed on the weight difference, how are we responsible for this when the item was shipped by an authorized dhl center who weighed the item and charged us $359 to ship it to india.
        Later he demanded a list of items in the package, which were then emailed to him, soon he demanded more money saying if money was not paid the item would be sent to cargo and then it will get even harder to retrieve the package and it will take longer.
        On septem 22nd my in laws met with mr. Mohmmad afsar in cargo department at hyderabad airport who demanded rs 2000 to be paid to the customs agent, which was then paid and he demanded rs 5000 for himself after this money was paid he sad the package would be delivered.
        Mohammad afsar now calls again demanding more monies, this is clearly a case of extorting by a dhl employee who is trying to take advantage of the situation, we've never had this ever happen using fedex.
        Somebody please take some strict action against this dhl employee, mohammad afar who is nothing but a crook working for dhl

          We had a sample package (2sqft), which came from italy to bangalore on 15th september, 2017 (At 2:00am). The package was supposed to teach us on 9th september, 2017 but because the name of the company was not mentioned correctly, dhl asked us to get the invoice changed and we obliged. The invoice was revised and was sent to them immediately as asked. I kept calling the customer service every single day for any update.

          We had a meeting on 16th september, 2017 in the morning for which we required the package without which the meeting would have been a failure.
          Finally i get a call from dhl custom clearance from a lady called gayathri (+91 [protected]) telling me that the clearance is done and the same would be reaching us on friday (15th september, 2017) but it was delayed. I called up the customer service for any updates and right after 3 hours, i get a call from the above mentioned number, gayathri telling me that their officer in the airport wasn't available at the right time so we will be receiving the package on saturday (16th september, 2017) before 11:00 am. How could they not inform us this on thursday evening about the delay?. The customer service is of no help except for putting the call on hold and got this mail from dal clearance team.

          We have received documents / clarifications required for the shipment processing and bill of entry is being filed for the shipment. Shipment is expected to be cleared from customs within 2 working days subject to no further queries from customs'.           Please be informed customs permitted to file the shipment with revised invoice. Shipment documents processed for bill of entry filing under duty.           After all the drama, we decided we will self collect it and got the address from both gayathri and customer service in yashwanthpur centre. And gayathri asked us to be at the centre at 7:30pm on 15th sep, 2017 for collection with required documents. This is the mail i got from customer service explaining the process for self collectiondear customer,

          Now, my person goes to yahwanthpur centre at 8:00 pm on 15th sep, 2017 and they tell him that there is a delay in the airport because of which it did not leave the airport. How irresponsible of custom clearance team and the customer service in informing me this. My person had to travel 15km to get to the centre and was asked to wait till 12:00 am (16th sep, 2017). Is that fair?
          And at 12:00am (16th sep, 20170 they inform him that he has to go to madiwala centre to collect at 2:00am (16th sep, 2017). This kind of behaviour and misinforming their customers is just not done. Dhl does not provide any service on time. Nor do they provide any updates that are correct.

            Hi, i had sent a consignment to china via dhl express with awb no - [protected]. I have made the entire payment and the promised delivery was 4th of august. I was not formed with proper details by dhl at the time of sending the consignment. The consignment is stuck with customs in china and neither they are delivering the consignment nor delivering it back to india. I've sent multiple mails regarding this to the dhl customer care but for no response. Following is the extract from the mail i sent to dhl.
            1) i was told that i should have collected a customs clearance form before entering china for these goods. But i was not informed by dhl on the same while shipping my consignment from india. I was informed that my consignment will be picked from my house in india and will be delivered to my address in china within a week, which didn't happen.
            2) i was told here by china dhl that personal goods should have value of less than 1000 rmb, while my consignment is valued at 3600 rmb. So they advised to go via agent. But the agent charges around 2000 rmb which is almost double the shipping cost. When i was told by dhl at the time of shipping that the amount paid was full and final settlement, expecting me to pay again double the amount again to get my consignment delivered is not fare. If i'm paying multiple times why will i take a professional service from dhl?
            3) the china dhl person has conveyed to my colleague that even if we go through agent i can't get it delivered because there is a pressure cooker in it. I gave the list of items i'm carrying in the consignment and i closed the box in front of the dhl representative before he picked up my consignment for delivery. Why was i not informed at first place in india, if i can't carry items which is not allowed.
            4) the china dhl person has conveyed to my colleague that even i can't send it back to india as there are few items like knife, shoe polish and soap in it. Again why is this confusion. If these items are not allowed why was i not informed before sending the consignment.
            5) i need my goods either delivered to my china address or return it back to india to the given address in my previous mail. I'm not ready to pay anything extra as i have already made my full and final payment in india for the consignment and it is dhl's responsibility to deliver my consignment to me at any cost.
            6) if both can't be done i need a compensation from dhl for the value of goods and i need a refund for the amount paid towards my consignment to dhl.

                  I need know why is dhl the only courier company that charges customs duty on any parcel ordered on amazon or any other retail shopping site, i receive parcels thru aramex, fedex even speedpost and none of them have charged me a penny ever for customs duty for the very same merchandise which comes thru dhl... Its seems indian customs charge duty only to dhl which is quite unfortunate, never again in the future will i ever use dhl for inbound parcels... Its very ambiguous.

                  I ordered some clothes on dressinn.com and when i paid the money it was inclusive of customs duty if applicable, the why is dhl charging it again?

                    I ordered a used goods in ebay worth rs 2000 only and it is used item. Showing this reason they are charging me cargo category and showing all bla bla terms and conditions just to loot huge amount.

                    Today i got mail saying i am liable to pay 5000 per day for 3 days then 10000 per day afterwards. What is it?

                    Iam a normal salaried person for me such a looting mail makes me so nervous and feeling alone, how to tackle it.

                    I need urgent help in order to solve this problem pls.

                    I been purchasing lot o[censored]sed item through ebay and they do being delivered without any issues to me. But only when shipment is with dhl they show all kind of rules and condition just to scare customer and loot huge money.

                    What else i need to provide just to resolve this issue pls help...

                      This is happened to me recently. I ordered a bluetooth chip worth $59.99+ $10 shipping on 7th aug and it was shipped from slovenia. When dhl package arrived they charged me rs 2845 including rs 1000 as their storage and handling charges. When i asked dhl about these two charges they said whenever any shipment comes from outside of india needs to be stored at custom facility until kyc documents are received from the customer. The fact is, i had uploaded my kyc documents as soon as i got an email from dhl to upload kyc documents. I called customer care and told them the same information and asked them to check all communications as well but no one could answer properly and clearly. It was disappointing to realize that world renown service like dhl could do an unethical business in india. Unfortunately, nothing was working for me so i paid all the charges and received my package.
                      Keeping in mind that this could happen to anybody, i called shipper (Bluetooth manufacturer) and told them about my experience with dhl. Also, they accepted my request to ship my new orders through other courier service.

                        I sent a consignement no.[protected] dt.[protected] through bmc chowk branch jalandhar city. The weight was 30 kg and the rate for shipment was given to me rs 465 / kg. The total amount was charged rs24140.
                        When reached my home, it was calculated rs-805/kg
                        So it was done fraud with me all the office is under cctv cameras. Ther will be all the recording which will give all proof.

                        Please give justice for over charging

                          Please note that we have imported 6 sample items (Water filter + ionizers) from kora. The shipment arrived by air (Awb: [protected]) on 10th june and we were first notified via email on 12th june by dhl clearance agent hari.

                          We responded within 24 hours with required details and also soon provided a cepa (Comprehensive economic partnership agreement) document procured from ministry of kora. This went on for a month and we provided all documentation (Invoices, writeup, free trade agreement document, ptp, etc..) to the dhl and recently received the filling bill of 76k with the below breakup:

                          - customs duty - 52k
                          - penalty - 12 k
                          - bonded storage - 8.7k
                          - handling fee - 1.6k
                          - igst tax - 1.8k

                          Now the questions we had were

                          1. Why is the customs duty levied exactly in our case (If its for delay in filing bill of entry, then that delay is from dhl end and not from customer end as we were informed only on 12th june when the shipment arrived on 10th june)??
                          2. Why was the penalty levied?? (Was the cepa document actually submitted by dhl?? If yes, we should not haven been charged by customs??).
                          3. The customs billing provided is only on dhl letter head and customs sign which an end user will not recognize, does customs not issue challans/assessment order or any billing to dhl which the customer can look at?? How will a customer ever know that the amount specified on bill of entry on dhl letter head and signed by someone is even correct?? Is it not your duty to provide the actual billing?

                          Are you really expecting to write any number as penalty and any number as receipt number with a signature from anyone (On boe) and demand the customer to pay it without even justifying the details??

                          We have been info multiple email and phone conversations between the courier team, customer support team and the claims advisor team who just directing to one another but does nto talk to the point, we are good to pay any outstanding amount, just need answers our question, which are very basic for any customer?

                            One packet booked from thailand to india (Varanasi-up) on 01st august 2017, i have received mail/call regarding kyc compliance for custom clearance. When i am login your www.Dhlindia-kyc.Com, it is showing that kyc document is already loaded and approved, but i have received again and again mail/call regarding kyc compliance and waiting for my packet. Today when i call customer care i have explained that your kyc has expired (Earlier way bill [protected]), so login with different/another mobile number, i have purchased one more sim only for dhl purpose, then uploaded again kyc documents.
                            My document containing rakhi (Indian festival on tomorrow), if i have not received it by tomorrow, then i is no relevance for me for that packet.
                            Is it way of working of world so called big courier company "dhl"? Why not i go to consumer forum for this? I have to keep more than one mobile or email id for dealing with dhl!

                                Dear sir,
                                I had sent my personal belongings with dhl from lebanon to india. The same stuff was sent by the same dhl company without any issues. However now they are asking fir unauthorised charges and the person incharge mr. Kapil seth is not willing to give anything in writing about the same. I had personally visited their office near t3 terminal at n delhi airport and met ms jivika n mr jeet pandey who checked all my documents and assured me for a speedy delivery of my stuff. It's also to be understood it's not easy for a person not belonging to delhi to go there at the heck n call of dhl executive to get the clearance done. Not withstanding the above i went n did that and also sent my colleague along with authorisation letter for all their requirements. However they are still asking for claims without any justification. Request please ensure earliest delivery if my stuff.

                                  We have handed over a shipment for saudi arabia on 12th july to your pune branch dealing with your employee mobile no. [protected].
                                  According to this employee we have made a mistake choosing dhl as any other courier agency would have been able to deliver this consignment much faster. Also according to him his superiors are available only after 14.00 hrs every day.
                                  Since the 12th of july he has been asking for documents from our logistics in a piecemeal fashion. On 22nd july he had confirmed that the shipment was on its way to ksa and all documents recd. Today after being unable to track the consignment we have followed up with him to be informed that shipment is at mumbai yet and he now needs additional documents. Our customer in ksa needs this shipment very urgently and his plant is shut for the past 2 weeks. The tracking no. Provided by your employee is[protected].

                                    This is to inform about dhl express india. I strongly recommend not to order packages from dhl. They are terrible in customs clearance and once the customs has been cleared they'll charged 500rs has handling fee plus charged you custom duties and other taxes without any documents from customs. They'll just give you a copy of invoice of dhl which you can find as irrelevant. I tried to scanned the barcode printed on the invoice which showed as invalid or no data of the barcode was available anywhere. The product i bought cost me around 4800rs which was from us and then dhl additional charges were 2600rs. Being a big company they take payments in cash, i wonder where the money goes. These people don't have the facilities to accept card payments as well.

                                      I ordered from china on 20/6/2017. I was informed by dhl on 6/7/2017 that it would take 24 hours for clearance. Day after day dhl held up my package requesting more documents from me. The receipt of payment, proforma invoice and the contract was sent and still they refused to clear. Cost of goods:$ 38+ shipping $54 =$89 but today i am asked another $2923 ($45) additional.
                                      This is absolutely absurd and unethical business practice.
                                      Customs duty (Reimbursement of cost) - rs592
                                      Ed cess (Reimbursement of cost)- 42
                                      Counter vailing duty - rs 814
                                      Bonded storage - rs 500
                                      Handling fee - rs 500
                                      [protected]@ 18%- 180
                                      Additional customs duty - rs 295
                                      This is all for goods valued @ $38
                                      It is not my concern if you held the goods, i did not delay in collecting it.
                                      You deliberately held the goods for no reason, why am i responsible for this.
                                      DHL Express India customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.

                                        This guy doesn't know how to talk english and puts up a fake accent while talking making it really hard for me to understand and tries to dominate the conversation where i'm actually requesting by calling back to get my stuff from them which they are holding since 30 days.
