The last few months I happened to do a lot of domestic travel. Each time I would need a cab to get to the railway station because the train was a night-starter. being a new entrant especially after the new
airport opened up, Easy cab looked like a breath of fresh air. The first time I booked, I was inundated with information on who the cab driver will be, what is his number, whats the cabs number etc and drivers mobile number. I could call and check anytime.
That day, it turned out, I was really lucky. Driver came on time, greeted us warmly, got us to the destination with no fuss or mad driving and the rate came to 20Rs less than Spot City Taxi.
Now Spot City Taxi is a veteran, a seemingly disgruntled team which is gruff, can't speak much english and don't seem enthusiastic about their job. If I ignore the behavior layer, I would rate Spot City Taxi as the best ordinary taxi service in Bangalore. They have NEVER been late. The drivers are at location at least 30 minutes before time almost irritatingly. They get you to the destination ON TIME. In a 30-40 minute commute, I really don't care if I can't make conversation with the driver or if he's yelling at pedestrians jumping in the way or a trifle overspeeding. I get to the destination ON TIME EVERYTIME.
Easy Cab guys have some gall. For the last 5 bookings I have made they have ruined my mood everytime I start for my journey. the sourness makes you yell at everybody later on for no reason. That is why I hate their idiotic non-existent service. They have ACs in their car. They also have no management skills. The drivers speak well and are well dressed. They also will not pick your call if you want to check why they are running late. They have new cars and a recognisable brand identity. They also have a pathetic call center. to get to an executive you have to wait long enough to get another shave. The executive speak well. They also do not know why their drivers are more than 40 minutes late and still haven't called.
I have my self 3 out of 5 times co-ordinated between the $#@$ driver and the call center to tell who
has reached where. Last time I yelled my lungs out at all of them. But you know what it didn't help. I was quite put out and was snapping at anything that looked at me. And the lazy and incompetent Easy Cab bunch was going on doing this to me.
The best thing I thought I'd do is to erase their phone number from my phone and let people know about them. Because only if all affected people put out their voice will there be a definitive change. It's time people learnt to do their job properly. So I thought it's my duty to let people know not to be taken for a ride. If you are charged you have the right to demand service. no one does things for free.
5 times out of 5, I was promised 7PM and the cab hadn't come to me even at 8:30PM. 8 calls and 30 minutes of my Pre-paid time was wasted. Guess what, they never called, the cab never came, they never apologised. My train was only at 10PM but I know there are fools who don't care for your time. So you've got to make use of it and get alternate arrangements made.
The last time this happened (last week) I got into an passing auto with 3 pieces of luggage.I had to pay a 'premium' of 120Rs as opposed to 70Rs. But the guy got me there by 9:30PM. And I made sure I erased the Easy Cab numbers from my memory.

Subject: Legal notice against the false booking and not honoring the booking commitment
Dear Sir,
1) I am Shishir Tiwari and I had booked Easy Cab for 02 July 2010 via booking ID B001830 to Bangalore City Railway Station at 5 PM. Just before 30 minutes from departure, I called up your customer care and they told me that I will be getting the sms stating the driver’s name, phone number after 10 minutes. When I didn’t get the information by 4:35 PM, I again called up the customer care and I was put on wait indefinitely and I had to cut the put. Right after that call, at 4:42 PM, I got another sms stating that the booking got canceled before o[censored]navailability of cab in my area. I again called up the customer care and then they informed me about the cancellation and also told that they can only confirm the booking 30 minutes before departure. It seemed that as if it was my mistake to trust Easy cabs.
2) It is evident from the above your company has indulged in unfair trade practice by not informing me that my booking is not confirmed and it may get cancelled before 30 minutes. It seems that you take the bookings and at the time of reporting, you choose the ones who can yield you better profits without even a slight consideration to the hardships, which the other customers are put to. Your terms and conditions should clearly state this fact that your booking can be cancelled before 30 minutes.
3) There is a deficiency in your service as you failed to inform me in advance about the cancellation and I was put into tremendous mental pressure, physical hardship because of this.
Hence, as per the rights given to a consumer as per the constitution of India, I call upon you to do the following things:
- Clearly provide for the education of customer that you try to find the cab 30 minutes before the departure time and you cancel the booking of the customer if you are unable to find a cab. The same should also come with the confirmation sms.
- Clearly specify your booking procedure and the order of preference you give to the customers as if you search the Internet you will find similar stories everywhere. It seems that your company deliberately employ these tactics
- Provide the cancellation information to the customers well in advance (more than two hours) so that they can make alternate arrangements. In my case, I was informed mere 15 minutes earlier.
- I was put to severe mental agony and physical harassment with my aged parents. I demand you to pay 10000/- towards the damages failing which I will be forced to put up a legal case and go to print, electronic media highlighting this issue for redressal of my complaint.
In spite of this legal notice, if you fail to do the above mentioned things and pay the compensation within 15 days from the receipt of the notice and perform other obligations, please note that I will not hesitate to move proper forum, courts of law for redressal of my grievance at your cost.
