I had purchased a brand new IPhone 6 from Ebay India online portal from seller (Vikrant Jain, seller id#virodh) at price of 60500 INR. This decision had made my nights sleepless since the purchase of the phone.
The things I had taken care of while purchasing the product: it was ebay. Being veteran in the field we had no doubt on that even in the wildest dreams. The description said all the fancy things about Manufactures’ Warrantee of India and brand new condition. I re-checked with the seller and ebay, got the confirmation about validity of everything.
Then the story begins how evil the people can be when their interest is fulfilled. I will write here series of steps which happened to me.
1. Looking at the package I got, I developed some doubt and got the phone to local Apple store, from there I came to know that, the phone is replaced/refurbished and it has few months of warranty left and it is for United Kingdom only, cannot be used in INDIA.
1st cheating and fraud. Look at the attached proof of service warrantee details taken from official Apple portal. (Named as Service and Warrantee)
2. I contacted ebay and told him about the entire situation. Acting nicely at the time, ebay call centre guy connected the line to seller and talked to seller. The seller did agree at that time to have further discussion and he called me to ask for the details.
Intercepts from the conversation happened at that side:
He checked this with his brother who is in UK (he send the phone from there, you can confirm with him, told me in one of over conversation over phone and he is the main seller). After they discussed and I also got a call from United Kingdom (Virodh Jain - +[protected] they asked me to return the phone and I will receive the refund. This was confirmed by the seller.
3. I sent the phone back and sent the receipt of shipping to both ebay and seller (Adhering to the discussion I had with ebay and seller). After I sent the product I tried to contact the seller regarding the delivery for which he started acting funny. His intensions started changing like he did was completely different guy. Sometimes he does not answer the call, answers somebody and says the seller has gone out, and at last he said that it’s a wrong number. This was very inconvenient for me but still I tried to sort out the matter and kept calm. Please note that he had got the phone intact and never raised anything about the phone at that time.
4. Ebay represented itself as if they are acting to solve the issue and asked for the information and provided all the proofs I had. Meantime I waited for almost a month with the promises of “getting back to you in 48 hours” . I don’t know what they (ebay and seller) were discussing internally and planning to get out of this collaboratively.
Now they came up with this which I could not think of even in the dreams. Almost ages after the seller started claiming, the phone was damaged when I returned. What was stopping him to tell when my product got delivered to him and he was finding the ways avoid the talk with me ?
These all defensive and notorious techniques they were playing not to give me my money back. Who knows the seller himself might have damaged my phone to save its reputation or gave the false and fabricated proofs of any other proof that my phone got damaged. I asked and confirmed the entire chain of courier and there were no chances of phone getting damaged.
What’s our security in this? If you have the item you can do almost anything to avoid giving money back to customer. And the worst thing is EBAY (claiming since years about Ebay Guarantee) is making its hands dirty in the mud to save some fraud sellers. They did come up with this collaboratively.
Please don’t spoil the reputation you have worldwide just to hide the dark and devil face of seller.
I have mentioned everything from start till today, I hope you will consider the facts I have provided above. If you say I did not follow the procedures of returns, let me tell you, I did everything to the words of your executive. He asked me to talk to seller and do what he says.
The most important of all, I am eligible for everything as I they are caught clearly with selling items with invalid and incorrect description.
I am going to ask for extra compensation for all the difficulties and tortures I faced in last month.
eBay.in customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
