Cheated by Godrej properties
We are an aggrieved set of customers who have been cheated by Godrej Properties. Just to give you a background
- Godrej Properties came out with a huge marketing campaign promising a gated community consisting of 3 towers at Mangalore. Name of the Project: Godrej Alpine. Launch was in 2013 with committed date of delivery in 2015. I along with many other customers booked a 3 bhk apartment in Tower 1 of the project.
- Godrej was apparently developing this project on joint basis, with a separate land owner
- As we are stepping in to 2017, we are yet to get possession of our apartment. In the meanwhile, Godrej went ahead and cancelled development of tower 2 and refunded the money back to tower 2 customers with interest. They had decided well in advance to scrap the original planned project & while doing that they kept us all (tower 1 customers) in dark. They have completed the construction of Tower 1, however the amenities are missing. We all paid a significant premium for a gated community with all amenities including a swimming pool, squash court, jogging track etc. However with only 1 tower being ready, they apparently dont have space to provide us all the amenities
- In Sept'2016, Godrej finally agreed to meet us customers to inform us status of the project. In this meeting, they informed us that the Land owner had certain issues with the Income tax department & hence there is delay in possession. We customers were not happy with this, since all they were promising was only the flat with most amenities curtailed & project changed to the committed plans at the time of booking. Certain amenities like Squash court are being ruled out by them
- As of today, even the possession of just our flat has not been done. We all have paid 95% of total dues to Godrej, without any avail. Now Godrej has called us for another meeting on 14th Jan'2017 where they apparently want to share some ''solutions'. We have escalated the issue right up to the MD of Godrej Properties and also to the board of directors. However we havent yet got any clear response on what is the final outcome.
- As a group of customers, we have asked Godrej properties to either stick to the original plan (gated community with all amenities) or refund us our money (including of Service tax, VAT etc) with 18% interest. Unfortunately Godrej is not committing anything & is just keeping us on the boil. They keep changing their stance & have blamed the land owner, heavy rains etc. Godrej properties dishonest & do not deliver the project as committed at the time of booking. BEWARE!!!
