I am an HDFC account holder who had my salary account in hdfc bank (Account no [protected]).
After I left my company, my salary account got converted into a saving account. My account was inactive and I could not maintain required minimum balance of rs 10, 000 and bank started charging amb charges.
On April 12th 2022, I visited the nearest branch and requested if I could close the account or pay the fee and activate my account again. I was informed by the bank employee that the fee was around 1500 and the account could be activated once I pay the fee.
I paid the fees and also requested for a new debit card and a branch transfer as I was very much impressed by the customer service of the branch (R T Nagar Branch, Bengaluru Karnataka) and wanted to continue using HDFC products and services.
The Bank employee assured me that aslong as I maintain my minimum balance I should face no issues with the bank and the account.
No negative balance and I started using HDFC banking services on a regular basis.
On the 30th of May 2022, I received a message stating that Rs 600 was charged for the month of March for non maintenance of minimum balance.
March? I visited the bank in April and had believed that all dues were met.
On the 31st of May 2022, I realized that a large amount of my savings had vanished Rs 6, 372 (708 X 9).
This is no small amount, I am a hard working individual and to take away a large amount of my savings is just not right without any prior notice or alert.
I made sure I had cleared all my dues and wanted to continue to avail services from HDFC solely on good terms and to follow the guidelines for maintaining the minimum balance.
To charge Rs 708 over 9 times for an account that had zero negative balance is not fair. To lose over Rs 6, 372 overnight with no particular reason as I have been using the banking services for the last month and a half since I activated my account.
According to me and as the bank staff (Mr Raghu, RT Nagar Branch) suggested me on the 12th of April 2022, there should be no deduction of such previous charges as bank itself assured me that they have removed any such charges and my bank balance had no negative balance.
I made multiple attempts in reaching the customer care services and they have not been effective.
