My credit card usage outstanding was close to 2 Lakhs & I paid HDFC bank 2.3 Lakhs till date, after paying month on month for 2 years, which they term as Minimum Due.
Initially (In early 2014) I requested them several times to convert my entire spent to EMI since the amount was big. However, they refused to do so, every time I requested them through mailer. I have all the mails & their responses.
According to them, EMI can only be availed at the time of purchase, not after that. Whereas, other private bank (e.g Axis Bank) & nationalized bank (e.g SBI) provide EMI facility to customers even after purchase to enable proper & timely payment.
In the meantime, failing to avail EMI option from the bank, I tried to procure a personal loan from every possible sources, to pay off the entire debt at a time, as I understood that, paying the due this way with huge interest, my entire life would be gone & still the amount deducted from my total outstanding would be negligible.
But my CIBIL record was badly destroyed by that time by HDFC’s negative reporting, due to some late payments. Therefore, could not get approval for PL from any bank.
It was the same bank, couple of years back, which upgraded my card to Platinum Plus from Gold within few months of issuing & increased my credit limit twice in 1.5 years. Also called me end number of times to avail a pre-approved Personal Loan up to 5 Lakhs for being a valued customer with an excellent credit history.
I availed a PL of 2 Lakhs in 2008, from the same bank, which I paid back without missing a single EMI or any late payment. Still, I could not get a PL.
Since last 5 months I stopped paying this minimum amount due (Rs.10000) towards my CC. Now, they have taken hold of my bank account by putting lien & auto debited the entire amount left in the account, which eventually resulted in failure of my EMI of another loan, which I never defaulted & is going to end in few months.

Now, my only concern is, every month they are adding a huge interest amount & the outstanding has accumulated to 2.22 Lakhs as of today, even after paying 2.3 Lakhs till date. Since I have already paid more than the amount I spent, I stopped paying since January 2016.
Consequently, they are calling every possible person who is known to me & harassing them as well.
Please let me know what is the best possible way to come out of the situation?
Should I take legal help to sort out the issue or go for out of the court settlement?

    Today I have received call form HDFC customer care number[protected] the name of the customer care execative was not confirm but I just remember his name is Sumit this call is regarding my pending credit card bills but the person talking on the call was very rude in talking n making disrespect us I am so unsatisfied while calling that the number and he is using abusing language this is very rude after our conversation from this customer care number he called us from his personal number that number is[protected] this call call from this number any use abusing language I am highly disagree with this behaviour of the HDFC Bank customer executive know any strong step is taken on my complain then I will forward to consumer Court I hope that some necessary steps were taken as soon as possible on my complaint yours faithfully Satbir Sharma thank you

      I am a new customer, received credit card only on 9th march’ 2016. I have used this card for purchase of 30, 000 on 15th march and 9, 000 cash withdrawn on 16th march. Issue started here on 18th march, bank statement generated on 17th march and sent to my personal mail box, but the notification message not sent to my mobile. However, statement for march month sent to my mail box, it is not possible to check all mails receiving everyday to my box.

      Everyone needs the trigger of message to mobile to go and check the mail box for the first month, as the new customer whoeverso don’t know the statement date initially.

      Your bank has failed to send a bill payment notification message to my mobile and so my plan on repayment of 39, 000 was collapsed. I have planned to pay 30, 000 by emi and 9, 000 in single pay.

      • card received on 9th march
      • 30, 000 received on 15th march
      • 9, 000 received on 16th march
      • message not sent to my moble for notification on repayment on 18th march, so that, as a new customer using credit for the first time, my repayment plan on 39, 000 collapsed.
      • i came to know that i received bill statment on 18th march and 18th april only when message to mobile sent only on 18th april.

      April statement: (Charges due to failed notification to my mobile)

      Late fee (9/4/16) – 700
      Bill finance charges on cash (17/4/16) - 323.71
      Finance charges (17/4/16) – 1044.75
      Cess tax (17/4/16) – 10.33
      Service tax (17/4/16) – 289.57
      April sub total = 2368

      I have raised this issue as complaint in the begining of april itself but no response from customer service team. Again the delay in actioning my complaint caused the below additional charges.
      May statement: (Charges due to delay in actioning my complaint)

      Overlimit fee (19/4/16) – 500
      Service tax (17/5/16) – 252.63
      Billed finance charges on cash (17/5/16) – 284.72
      Cess tax (17/5/16) – 9.01
      Finance charges (17/5/16) – 1019.80
      May sub total = 2063


      April sub total (2368) + may sub total (2063) = 4431

      Please note that all these additional charges came in to picture only because of your failure in customer service, kindly accept the same and deduct those additional charges or provide the wavier for the same.

          I have closed my housing loan at HDFC on 05 Oct 2016. But as on 16 May 16, I noticed that still my housing loan account showing as pending. Because of which, i was denied/difficult to get loan from other banks. I complained the same with HDFC for correcting the records, but not yet corrected. because of which i faced lots of difficulties in getting loan to pay my ward's college fees. Since updating records of loan at CIBIL lies with the bank they are responding positively.

            I had applied for term policy in the month of january. Still its not issued. Medicals were done long back. I had received a message that there is some issue with medical report. When contacted with hdfc life person they said that there is nothing. Pending from my side, its the hospital from where details are pending. I have followed up atleast 100 times. But everytime i get a response that they will follow up. N i do not receive any call aftr that. I have been following up with adil syed and mayur kotecha. I have got really bad customer service experience. I want to cancel the policy and get a refund after this kind of experience. If to get the last policy there is so much issue, i can only imagine my experience at the time of claim. Please revert asap

              I Have a big time problem with the credit cards issued by HDFC bank, whatever credit limit was promised in each card and what is shown in covering letter that comes with the credit card is wrong as per the customer care representatives and they are stating what is promised by the sales team and what is mentioned in letter and the credit balance shown in HDFC atm counters for the cards are wrong and a complaint is raised to check on the same ref# [protected], even after confirming from the local bank branch that the credit cards have individual credit limits the customer care is not ready to accept on the same and stating that the people in the bank and the atm machine is giving wrong info, need help in sorting this issue on top most priority, attached the covering letter for both credit cards

                Very pain full experience with hdfc for fixed deposit.branch manager is misbehave with me & say ki ped bhut cut rahe hi.agar aap net banking use nahi karenge to fixed deposit nahi hoga.or branch ko koi fark nahi padta .i am very shocked 2.75 lac fixed deposit is not consider for last 11 year hdfc customer . regularly i followup the fixed deposit last 15 days & form is already fill last 15 days.& branch manager was insulting me & shouting in front of his staff. & i visited thrice for this purpose to the branch. finally i have decided to close all my account from hdfc.if this is the attitude my account no.[protected]

                  My self Nikhil S Kulkarni, I was holding HDFC credit card from last 8 yrs.

                  My credit card expired on 08/15 but from march 15 I am residing in Saudi Arabia so I was unable to collect the new credit card. For the credit card payment I was talk with your customer care executive ( Mr Dixit Patel) as he instructed to me if you are unable to pay on new credit card number you can pay on old credit card number. So I paid on 23.05 and returned on 27.05

                  As per his instruction I did a payment but the payment is rejected by HDFC bank (Bank Statement attached)

                  Now the question is who is responsible for the late payment charges.

                  If your blind customer care executive guide to customer he will sure sufferer from penalties.

                  Request you to please teach your customer care executive.

                  My name is Vivek, I am residing at M.R. Nagar. My HDFC debit card was blocked HDFC bank ATM at M.R. Nagar branch on Feb 20, 2016, I have raised a complaint in customer service and they have told me to surrender the same old card which was retained in machine without any charges and also asked me to collect it from my nearest branch. HDFC bank, Perambur branch was the nearest one for me, when I went two weeks later to collect my retained old debit card, a lady at help desk told me that my card was blocked since I have not collected it within 1 week of time; she also added that if I need a new card I need to pay to get a new card. I cross checked with the customer care through phone and they told me the card was still active and not blocked.. I was dissatisfied with the kind of irresponsible reply given by that lady at help desk. I also faced lot of inconvenience in getting my new debit card. I kindly advice you to teach these kind of employees about the meaning of customer service and their satisfaction.

                    I got a call regarding issuing of the credit card but unfortunetly i was bust in my work again i got a call from d same no and same associate by no-[protected] during the call i politly responded that i am busy right now pls if possible kindly call me after half an hour but she didnt listen me and told me that"mai char baar se call kar rhi hu aap hamesha se busy rahte hai'its really shocking and disgusting for me so is the words of an associate of one of the reputed private bank and such kind of service they really offer to their existing customer i will take this matter very seriously and get ready for reasonable answer

                      My billing Date of Credit card was 31/May/2016 that is 3323/- rupee, on 01st June I paid my credit card bill that is 3323/- rupee but now in my saving account (HDFC) again deducted 3323/- rupee but correct amount shows in Closing Balance but in Available balance it show deducted amount (3323/- Rupee) so make it as Available Balance this is 2nd time happed

                        Hi,

                        My credit card number is xxxx xxxx xxxx 2462. It's been month I'm struggling with very unprofessional HDFC Credit Card department Team. My issue is, I had to pay my minimum payment of 19000 in April 2016 and as suggested by their field executive I paid 10000 in April 2016 and the field executive told me, now we have received minimum amount of May 2016 payment as well. And your card is temporarily blocked and if you paid the rest minimum amount card will be unblocked.

                        But After paying 10000 amount credit card team has put lien on my a/c on May 1, 2016 (but why). And In May they put my whole salary 19000 (HDFC is my salary a/c) on hold due to lien. And they deducted the entire amount 19000 on 18th May 2016. And after that, they blocked my card permanently.

                        I logged complaint many times (HBL=[protected]APW[protected]MP) ([protected]) ([protected]). Sent complaint mails to id [protected]@hdfcbank.com. But I'm getting call from only one number[protected] and all the responses are same.

                        Yesterday, In resolution of my complaint ticket, I got a call from their credit card team and a lady executive said me these line "You have made your minimum payment 10000 in April 2016 however, your minimum payment was 19000 but your card is not blocked due to this reason, it's blocked because bank wanted to block my card and they can do this with whoever they want because, it’s a bank property"(HOW CAN THEY SAY THESE KIND OF LINE WITH THEIR CLIENTS). And here is the call date and time details, June 1, 2016 - 3:49 PM. The call was recorded and you can listen these lines many times from her.

                        I PAID MY MINIMUM DUES, THEN THEY PUT LIEN TO MY A/C, THEN THEY DEDUCTED MY WHOLE SALARY AND THEY BLOCKED MY CARD PERMANENTLY.

                        This is in continuation to our interim response dated 6.6.2016 regarding your HDFC Bank credit card account number[protected]XXXXXX2462.

                        Our records indicate that we were not in receipt of complete payments towards the outstanding dues. Owing to continued nonpayment/irregular payments, late payment charges and finance charges were levied to your card account. Please refer to our cardmember agreement which clarifies that nonpayment of card dues may render the cardmember liable to the risk of cardmembership withdrawal instantly . The outstanding balance on your card account stands payable immediately to the Bank on invalidation. In the absence of a positive revert / payment being received, the lien has been placed on your bank account.

                        We invite your attention to our cardmember agreement. It is clearly mentioned that the Bank, at any time and without notice, will have the right of lien and set off on all collateral's belonging to the cardmember. Collateral's, being any amount standing to their credit in any account whatsoever with the bank or in possession or custody of the bank. Accordingly, lien was placed by the bank and an appropriate notice had been sent to your mailing address as per the bank records. In the absence of a positive revert/payment, we wish to state that the Bank would be constrained to invoke the lien placed on your bank account. In view of the same, lien of Rs. 19, 709.00 has been claimed from your Savings Bank account and credited to your card account dated 18.05.2016.

Yesterday a lady executive called me by number [protected] and in resolution she told me "you have made your minimum payment 10000 amount and your minimum payment was 19000 but your card is not blocked due to this, it's blocked because bank wanted to block my card and they can do this with who ever they want, because card is bank's property. WHAT IS THE MEAN OF THIS LINE.

                        IF MY CARD IS NOT BLOCKED DUE TO NOT PAYING MY MINIMUM PAYMENT BECAUSE I'VE ALREADY PAID IT. THEN HOW CAN BANK BLOCK MY CARD.

                        You can listen my yesterday's call record (June 1, 2015 - 03:49 pm) and you will hear these line many times by the executive.

                        Please see the above reply as I told you this is their 7 or 8th reply and every word are same in all the mails they are not escalating my issue on next level. I sent mail to their managing director email ID but they all are bliend, deaf and i think illiterate also.

                        Even you can now see the difference of their reply, what I'm asking & what they are replying. I've sent the mail to their managing director email ID & then they have sent the above reply. This how the pathetic HDFC Bank behave with their clients.

                            I applied a Personal loan through HDFC Bank agents they collect all the documents from me, at the time of collecting the documents they told me interest rate is 14% and tenure 36 months and 1% processing fee. They sanctioned amount 3.35L but credited in my account 3.2L. I don't know what about that difference amount and They sanctioned the amount with interest rate of 18% and tenure 48months with out my intimation. i didn't receive a Confirmation E-mail or Phone call.

                            So what can i do now
                            Could you please suggest me how can i approach against of HDFC bank Agents.

                              Called up the phone banking today because I recieved an message for the lower downed credit limit for my credit card so was talking with one of your rep named HEENA SHAIKH who was excellently rude nd was arguing with me nd yelling at me when I asked her to transfer the call to a supervisor now about the card I will get to the bottom to it and about your customer care service if doesn't get answerd with your so called specialized team I will make sure it will get to the CONSUMER COURT OF MAHARASHTRA

                                I recently opened HDFC Demat account with Rs 2999.00 before 1 month. While opening demat account they that hereafter you can trade, invest mutual funds and insurance.

                                After few weeks i received call from HDFC Securities from Mumbai. They requested that i have to activate SMS alert service for 1 year with 1830.86. That time i haven't aware about my demat account features. So i activate that service.

                                Then only my relationship manager told that i already have scheme of "01 SCHEME 2999 ONLY". Fot this scheme customer have 6 months SMS alerts service and DIY SIP signup changes are free.

                                So i request to refund my money which they debited from my account Rs 2115.97.

                                  I am here to complaint about HDFC Bank's poor service.

                                  I was issued a credit card from HDFC Bank against my fixed deposit. It means I can't break my FD till I use the credit card.

                                  I used HDFC Bank's credit card about 6 months then I decided to close the credit card because I wanted to break my FD.

                                  I paid all the outstanding amount and closed the credit card as per HDFC bank's advice.

                                  The credit card is closed and there are no dues but still I am not able to break my FD and it shows "LIEN EXIST" when I try to break my FD.

                                  I contacted credit card's customer care, they said contact branch. I contacted branch (HDFC Sughad Branch) they said contact credit card customer care.

                                  After trying a lot both ways (branch and customer care) still there is no positive response, no solution from HDFC taem. All I found is their lack of interest to solve the matter.

                                  Now I am helpless and disappointed which made me register complaint here.

                                  Hope HDFC Bank Ltd will read this and will do the needful about my issue. Also hoping that they will improve their service.

                                    Dear Sir/Madame,
                                    It is very disheartening to inform you that the fort branch has not been satisfactory in responding to export documentation when all requirements have been fulfilled as per requirements
                                    The export documents has to be submitted to the bank with 21 days and if delay we need to submit a letter explaining the delay. Now it is necessary for you too to give us a proper reason. We had submitted export documents about 8 months back and now it is returned to us saying that multiple cash deposits cannot be done against one Invoice and shipping bill. The shipping bill carries the consignee name as well as all the remitter/buyer. The bank should have no problem processing the BRC’s.
                                    We have been depositing cash USD since 2002, there had never been any problem. All cash USD deposits are against exports. Initially the bank was accepting cash USD and so we were depositing it. If you had stopped collecting USD cash, we require a written statement at least 15 – 20 days in advance. I don’t understand whether the bank was sleeping for the last 8 months. Nothing was informed to us. We have completed our entire obligation. We have been visiting the bank every week since last eight months.
                                    We are also receiving additional benefit from customs if the BRC’s are submitted to Indian customs within one year and if we do not receive that benefit we will hold the bank responsible for it and the bank will have to compensate for it. We require to submit six months BRC’s to Indian customs every six months
                                    We also hold the bank responsible for any problem arising in RBI due to these delays and hold the bank responsible for it. Now how you have sent us a letter regarding FIRC’s will not be issued in certain cases, similarly letters should have been issued against all these cases.
                                    We require the bank to reply to us as early as possible.

                                      I had one payment of my credit card that was due on[protected] but due to some reasons i could

                                      My concern is regarding today’s call from your chandigarh office for follow up call to me to make

                                      Payment of dues.

                                      I attended the call and asked them that i shall make payment tomorrow and also apologise for not

                                      Making timely payment.

                                      My concern here is the personal and mental humiliation that i faced today by your bank’s executive.

                                      During the call your executive have mentally humiliated me for not making payment and cursed me

                                      Like anything in higher and hatred tone.

                                      Even after my many apologises your executive insulted very absurdly. She was behaving if i had

                                      Committed a heinous crime by not making timely payment for month only.

                                      Your executive was also asking to make complete payment of card and to close the services. I have

                                      Not seen any such guidelines in your docs where it is mentioned and customer has to be punished

                                      With humiliation if he has defaulted in payment

                                      I replied that it was my fault and i will make the same tomorrow. If there is any delay by me then i

                                      Will pay the interest which is as per agreed guidelines with bank.

                                      She was saying like,

                                      Why are you not making payment on time?

                                      Hdfc do not want to have customers like you.

                                      Hdfc has doubt on my integrity.

                                      Hdfc don’t want your interest but we need our payment.

                                      You have used hdfc’s money in you bad time and now you are not paying. Is this the way that hdfc

                                      Is giving credit card to use only in bad time.

                                      Go to bank today wherever you are. Get the payment done any how today by any means.

                                      Do not compare us with any other bank. We are hdfc.

                                      The tone was so harsh and irritating if i have killed someone. Your executive was shouting like

                                      Anything.

                                      I want to know is this the way hdfc treat its customers. If i have defaulted any payment then i am

                                      Paying interest. I am not in intention to not to pay the amount. I am attending all your calls.

                                      Suppose even if have defaulted then there are procedures to recover money but bank has no right

                                      To humiliate his customer.

                                      But the way your people humiliated today, it has made me feel so depressed that i am some kind of

                                      Criminal. For your information i pay all my tax on time to govt so i have no intentions like that.

                                      For example, i have credit card for another reputed bank where i delay payment more than two

                                      Months but never got such calls. I pay interest and there is no such issue and people who are

                                      Following are very polite while communicating with us.

                                      Credit cards are being given as a monetary power to customers for expense instead of hard cash

                                      With a certain time grace to make payment and guidelines are also there of penalty for late payment

                                      But there is no law written anywhere where bank can directly can take charge and blamed

                                      Personally and put fingers on character of its customers.

                                      I want to understand if hdfc promotes such way of communication with customers.

                                      I want you to go through the ca and let me know how i would be able to recover for mental stress

                                      That your executive has given me today. I am feeling very embarrassed the way i have been treated

                                      By hdfc bank.

                                      I am in such a shock that i am unable to continue my work and this call put me in such state on mind

                                      That i am having feeling of criminal which is disturbing my inner self. This is all being the arrogance

                                      From bank and the foul way of dealing with customers.

                                      Need your action immediately and if required i will also take legal action to get this addressed.
