Hi,
I had thought over writing this complaint mail several over the past 10 days time, eventually I end of drafting this email after having lost all hopes in getting things resolved from your end.
I had initially contacted MakeMyTrip regards this particular package to Sri Lanka on 12th March and had got a quote to which I had a few clarifications for which I did send an email on the 13th March. For which I did not receive any response until 15th March, I got things clarified and confirmed the package at a price of Rs. 70, 000 after the discounts (offers on credit card, special discount, cash backs, etc.). Once I had confirmed this package and was waiting for further formalities, you rep (my point of contact - Neha Rana) contacts me and lets me know that the package is no more available at the price which I had just confirmed a few hours ago because you guys or the hotel people or whosoever have changed the pricing and it would now cost me Rs. 76.662. Now make a note I had to bear this additional amount just because there was a delay in response from your end or else I could have got this package at 70k.
Anyhow since the dates I had planned were almost near I didn't want to waste much time over an argument and went ahead and confirmed the booking. On 15th March, in the evening Neha gives me a call stating I should make 50% of the payment the same day or else would not be able to get the package at the confirmed price and so I do make the payment late at night. She had requested me to provide the names and passport copies of the passengers, to which I did mention I would send out the passport copies the first thing next morning and provided her the names of the passengers. The very next morning I send her the passport copies and later requested her to provide me with the flight tickets and hotel booking vouchers so that I could have details of the same with me. I requested for flight tickets so that I could make my arrangements for being available at Chennai from where the package commences. At this point of time your rep states the confirmation and booking would only be available 3-4 days prior to departure and no info can be provided before that. Then there was no further communication until 21st March where your rep asks for the remainder of the 50% payment, which I do.
Now once the 100% payment has been made and when I'm waiting to receive my flight tickets, hotel vouchers and cab vouchers; on 26th March I receive a call from one of your reps (Alok Kumar) stating that the names are not identical to the details on the passport and I need to pay another Rs.6000 to have this corrected and travel. I was completely stuck at that point with no words to comment on this; when I had provided the passport copies why should there be any point of having that mistake. To this question of mine, the answer I received was the ticket was booked on the same day I had made the 1st 50% of the payment; i.e.; 15th March with the info I had provided wherein the last name for the second name where initials (in the passport the last name was the initials expanded; i.e.; instead of V.S it was Vishwambaran Sheeba on the passport). In the first place, your rep never informed that the details were for flight ticket booking neither did she inform the concerned team to wait for the next day to make the flight bookings once the passport copies would be received. Keeping this aside, at least when I did request for the copies of the flight ticket your rep could have stated this mistake which they never did until 100% of payment was made; when enquired about this I was given a very unsatisfactory reply; i.e.; your people were communicating with the airlines people to have this issue sorted out for more than 10 days. This reason is truly not acceptable, however I eventually made the payment so that at least I could make the travel possible after going through all this mess-ups and goof-ups that you guys created for me to make this trip a memorable one.
I ended up making an additional payment of Rs. 5000 to have names corrected for both passengers as suggested by your rep (Alok Kumar). When the payment was made I had requested Alok to forward a copy of the confirmation mail so that this time I’m aware that there are no mistakes and have issue corrected immediately with no further delay. The fun part is when I did receive the amended air tickets the issue had been just with the 2nd passengers name which was corrected and the 1st passengers name was unchanged ( I had mentioned about this to your reps that the 1st passenger’s name requires no change but the rep insisted that they could go ahead with no change if I would take care of responsibility incase of any issues to avoid further chaos I agreed to the rep). When I raised this concern with your rep (Neha Rana), she had informed that she would check with team and incase name change is not required would get back to me with an update and would refund Rs. 2, 500 (the payment made for name correction of the 1st passenger). Since then I have not heard back from any of your reps.
I tried contacting the phone numbers I’ve been provided but have not been able to get any sort of assistance. So at this point I’m completely disappointed, frustrated and very very very unhappy at the service I received. The reason I did turn to MakeMyTrip was because of my previous great experiences I had with trip organized via MakeMyTrip wherein I had a point of contact who did take care of all necessary bookings from day one of contact until the trip was completed and answered to all my queries with no delay.
At this point of time, I’ve arrived at a conclusion that is incase I do not receive the confirmation flight tickets and all necessary vouchers I would need for this travel by end of day I would not like to proceed any further with MakeMyTrip arranging this travel and would like to get a 100% refund on the amount I have paid (Rs. 81, 662.00).
I expect to receive a response for this particular email of mine ASAP.
