I had given my brand new car maruti dzire (Reg. No. Uk07dc6890) for some minor body shop repairs (Small dent on rh rear door and one or two scratches on running board below) on 7th september 2019 at m/s. Rohan motors ltd, gms road, dehradun, an authorized service center of maruti suzuki ltd. I was assured of delivery of my car on 22nd september 2019.
However, i was aghast when it was noticed that the body shop section, instead of repairing the small dent, has made multiple dents and various scratches on each side of car, apparently while maneuvering the car. This, kindly note, was never brought to my notice and it was, by chance that i had noticed the dent and scratches while making a surprise visit to the service center. It was even more surprising, when i got to know that they were trying to hide the facts and make repairs without seeking my permission, which is totally unfair and unauthorized.
Then, i tried to get in touch with concerned adviser and body shop manager, who just gave empty assurances that all the dents and scratches would be fixed and the car would be delivered in a perfect manner, better than a brand new car. But the factual position was that the difference in colour on each panted door, panel, fender etc. Was glaringly visible when the car was being delivered to me. On complain to higher authorities regarding mismatch in pain colour on the painted panels, they have moved one step ahead and also painted the adjacent panels so that the mismatch in painted colour can be observed easily. Now condition is so worse that they have painted my car 3 to 4 times and almost coloured 60% of the outer surface of my car, be it doors, side panel, front panels, bumper, fenders…, have been painted by them to fix all the dents and match the colour. Anyways, i continued with my efforts and tried to get in touch with higher authorities (Be it the gm of rohan motors, maruti suzuki customer care and regional manager), but all of these yielded no results and in turn, i was being coerced to accept the car in as it position.
Then, i left with no option but had to raise a complaint to the md of maruti suzuki ltd (Mr. K. Ayukawa) by sending a mail on 18th october 2019. On my complaint, car has been inspected by rohan motors and mr. Gopal (Tsm of maruti suzuki ltd), but it was surprised to note that rohan motors, out rightly, rejected having done unauthorized repairs / paint of my car. It was only when i showed the pics of my car at the time of leaving the car for repairs and confronting them, they agreed to have done unauthorized repairs but still they had not accepted having done paint on some panels.
Subsequently, on my repetitive request, car has been inspected by axalta coating system (Paint vendor of rohan motors ltd) in the presence of mr gopal (Tsm of maruti suzuki ltd), representatives of rohan motors ltd. And myself on 4th november 2019, through dft (Dry film thickness) meter to identify the painted panels and mismatch in paint colour. It is important to mention that on inspection, dft meter readings ranged from 70 microns to as high as 700 microns was observed which is possible only when some major repair work is carried out. Further, it is important to note that mr. Gopal and axalta team had also confirmed the color-mismatch on painted panels during the inspection. Further, mr. Gopal had assured that final inspection report shall be provided and they would come with appropriate resolution to resolve the issue.
However, situation got overturned against me, when i got the mail from mr. Gopal on 11th november 2019, wherein he accepted the fact that panels (Left fender, left front door, front bumper, right front door, right rear door, right quarter panel and rear bumper), covering almost of my car was painted by the workshop. But to cover up and protect his dealer, he has also mentioned that no mismatch in paint color has been observed on the painted panels and car was delivered to me in good condition and upto satisfaction of customer. Further, it is pertinent to mention that final inspection report had not been provided through mail. Then again, i had to send a mail to md requesting to intervene in to the matter and resolve the issue. Thereafter, mr. Gopal has provided the final inspection paint report on 25th november 2019. But i stunned reading the report wherein it was mentioned that color matching is ok (I. E. Report is not categorically confirming about no mismatch in paint color), which clearly shows that they tried to manipulate / hide the exact fact and playing with words. Further, reason of dft meter reading of high as high to 700 has not been mentioned in the report. It clearly demonstrates that inspection report is one sided and favoring the maruti suzuki ltd and rohan motors ltd, which is obvious because m/s axalta coating system is paint vendor of rohan motors and maruti suzuki ltd. And they earn revenue from them only.
The matter has not ended here, when i asked to provide a letter from rohan motors limited, accepting the unauthorized repair / paint on my car, which was duly accepted by representative of rohan motors ltd in front of mr gopal (Tsm of maruti) and myself, so that i can file a complaint before consumer court, mr. Manoj from rohan motors ltd, send a mail mentioning that all the repair work is done with the approval of customer (Verbal), which is totally opposite of fact mentioned herein above. Instead of accepting their mistake, they are now blaming the customer due to fear of consumer court.
To summarize, response from maruti suzuki ltd and inspection report of m/s axalta coating system, clearly favoring the dealer completely and falsifying my claim. Instead of taking action against its dealer for such kind of service to maruti’s customer, maruti suzuki ltd is protecting its dealer, which is unfair and injustice to customer like me.
It is requested to kindly take up the matter with maruti suzuki limited at your level to get aforesaid issue resolved.
