Medi Assist worst ever service I had seen

Dear reader,

If you want peace of mind with cashless claim, please don’t go with Medi Assist TPA.

We ( I, my wife and new born baby) had to wait in the hospital lobby for 8 hours; thanks
to Medi Assist’s lethargic inhuman service! The fax for enhancement of the cashless claim was sent at around 4:00 PM. Every hour, I was calling the customer service of Medi Assist and the hospital administration...

I submitted the Bills related to my mother's hospitalization to Medi Assist Bangalore, Things were fine and the amount was settled. But they issued the cheque in the name of My father who is no more. I sent back the cheque for change of name, asking to give it in the name of patient.
Later on submitted the death certificates of my farther to them ( on 11.04.09 ), . Thereafter I am following up for the same daily and they are not picking up phone to answer. Toll free nos. are not in a position to answer as they do not have details.

The claim no with them is 3888446 .

If possible follow up . Their contact no. ( only one[protected], extn 31 useless phone no.

Here is my complaint brief:

If you want peace of mind with cashless claim, please don’t go with Medi Assist TPA.

We ( I, my wife and new born baby) had to wait in the hospital lobby for 8 hours; thanks
to Medi Assist’s lethargic inhuman service! The fax for enhancement of the cashless claim was sent at around 4:00 PM. Every hour, I was calling the customer service of Medi Assist and the hospital administration was also contacting them in between. Every time, the claim was under process and will be completed by 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM... Thanks to merciless customer care executive, finally, we called it a day and paid the cash by ourselves and got discharged from the hospital at 10:00 PM.

The claim was finally settled after 2 days!!! Now, I have to visit the hospital to collect back the money I had paid upfront.

Lessons learnt:
(1) Please don’t ever rely on Medi Assist. It is severly understaffed and customer care executive have no common sense. ( same case with all of them. I had talked with Sagar, Reddy and Kumar during this time and all have same no sense attitude.)
(2) Don’t believe 24 hour call centre services unless you test before hand. Try your self for medi-assist call centre:[protected] and if you get someone to talk to you in less than 5 minutes, I would say, you are extremely lucky!!
(3) Have enough cash with you to pay upfront and possibly claim later.

Please spread this word to your friends and collegues so that they would avoid such treatment of making their loved ones to wait in the hospital lobby for several hours swallowing infections.

priya medical — money sms

My daughter Rudra Parmar was admitted to hospital because of life threating condition VIRAL FEVER with THROMBOCYTOPENIA ( platelets 8000/cumm). She was in the hospital for eleven days and her claim was denied because of the reason LESS THAN 24 HOURS ADMISSION AND FEBRICATED CASE. The height is not body had ever visited the hospital during her stay in hospital.
So its my humble request to everyone that they shoud avoid taking insurance of RELIANCE GENERAL INSURANCE and other compinies whose TPA is MEDIASSIST.

Thanks,

The following is the most in human torture meted out to me by the Medi assist on the eve of my discharge at Narayana hrudayalaya on 15th To: [protected]@mediassistindia.comDear Sir/ Madam,

I am terribly upset over the ordeal I had at the Narayana hrudayalaya hospital yesterday. Whatever be the criteria you are following in approving the Insurance coverage in denying the requests, it is really annoying and inhuman. You just cannot imagine the ordeal; I went through that evening between 5:30 pm and 11 pm. The Doctor had ordered my discharge in the morning itself. But for some unknown reasons writing the discharge summary took some time and it was ready by 5 pm. I made my wife to go to the insurance man and came to know that, it was faxed to only at 5 pm. My son got an assurance from your office that it will be processed with in 2 hours. Two hours became 3 hours. 3 hours became 4 hours. I sent my wife go down to the counter at least 30 times. Finally at 9.30 my son called me and told me that you have denied the approval, and told me we will have to settle the bill paying cash and get the discharge. I sent my wife to counter again to know
that the man at the counter has gone for his dinner and will be back only at 10.30 pm and he has to check the emails.
I was under terrible tension, my blood pressure shot up and I almost collapsed thinking how to raise that much money at that hour. My son who was on night shift could not do any thing. Finally at 10.15 pm. the man at the counter informed my wife that if we are making the payment before 11.30 he would get me discharged. From 2pm the hospital staff stopped all my medication and treatment to me because as per them, the patient is discharged. I did not eat or take my medicines on time, because I didn’t have any medicines. I was not allowed to go out of my room. My wife who is 53 years old unwell has to do all the running around. I informed the situation to Dr. Nithin Hegde; He being good human being arranged the money for the payment. Seeing my plight and condition of health gave me medicines.
If I am staying there that night and get the discharge the next morning, I will have to pay another 2600 rupees. At last I got the discharge at 11pm. Any body can imagine the difficulty we endured reaching our home at 2am, 40 kms away at the dead of night from the hospital to Malleshpalya.
I very much doubt your competency in judging a case like mine. In the discharge summary, it is clearly mentioned that I am a chronic diabetic; I have lost sight on my right eye, and have Poly Cythemia Vera which means my blood thickness is so high that needs constant medication and Venasection, which means 500ml. blood to be removed, checking my Hemoglobin count regularly. Other than that I have Breathing problem, due to a small deviation of a bone inside the nose. My Blood pressure was erratic. If something had happened to me that night, you would have been responsible.
I am 62 years old man with no income of my own and vision only in the left eye with difficulty in walking and mild renal mal function, the medical expenses with Insulin IOnjection and tablets will be more than Rs. 2500 per month.
Because of your incompetency I have suffered so much in one night. Hence I request you kindly to review my case in sympathetic and humanitarian manner with a panel of experienced Doctors and arrange to reimburse the Bill amount at the earliest possible.
I am very sure that, if I go to the Consumer court I will get the Bill amount, Court expenses, and a hefty compensation from you for the ordeal I had that night. Please don’t take me to that level for such a small amount of Rs.11564/- My doctor will come and testify in the court for me.

Sincerely,
Madhusoodanan M.A

insensitive staff...they shouted and banged the phone on me on a simple query of a claim status and upon asking what all documents they require to issue cheque to hospital. the lady on the phone misbehaved and did not listen to my problem instead just kept on saying that it was my fault that i gave the cheque to hospital...my patient would not have been discharged if i did not do that. All this time i was quietly and patiently listening to her...she however was on top of her voice. these people must realize that we are not begging from them its a policy that we purchased. This was a cashless request but the hospital however has taken a cheque from me to let my patient go and is still waiting to receive payment on the claims that are already approved.

Thanks,
Pallavi

Dear Sir,
I had submitted my Mediclaim reimbursement Claim on 18/10/2010 by Registered Post to Medi Assist India TPA Pvt Ltd., at "GREEN ARCH" B-BLOCK
J P Nagar Bangalore-560078.
After many reminders the TPA replied on 29/11/2010 that since the policy is only 2 years old I am not eligible for the claim.I immediately replied by E-mail followed by a Registered Letter informing them that my policy is more than 10 years old and that it has been renewed every year with in the due dates. It was also informed to them that the policy is in continuous operation since more than 10 years their pressumption that the policy is only two years old is very much wrong and hence I am eligible for the claim. Though I had furnished convincing facts and figures the TPA has failed to settle my Claim.
Since then I had sent more than 6 reminders but still there is no reply.
My Mediclaim Policy No. is 671001/34/10/11/00000081 issued by New India Assurance Co., Ltd.,
My Medi Assist Claim Reference number is 5378828.
Please help to settle my claim.

This is with reference to my claim submitted for reimbursement of expenses incurred towards my mothers treatment during her hospitalization, under individual medical insurance scheme of The New India Assurance Company Limited of which Mediassist Healthcare Services (Third Party Administrator).

I have submitted a claim of total Rs 23418/-, with all the bills and other necessary documents, on 07th October 2008.

After Continuous follow up with mediassist on 4th November 2008 I got a reply by way of a mail that my claim has been denied for reason “T2DM, Costo Chondritis, AGE - med management. Only Investigation done with oral medication” – The treatment is done my Doctors. The purpose of insurance has clearly said that even for a day you admit the reimbursement of hospitalization claim can be made. I really don’t understand why these TPA is denying it

Since then I visited their office in Chennai to reconsider my request many times did not get any satisfactory answer.

After more than a month has passed I finally requested them to return my bills, the customer care executives there failed to give me the correct status of my returning the bills they were keeping on saying that they will send courier but eventually nothing had happened. Finally on January 19th 2008 I have got my bills back.

I had earlier done a claim bearing number 1314619 on 30th September 2008. The hospitalization for this claim and the hospitalization for claim no 1317653 is for same reason but still the TPA has denied my claim after writing several explanation mails to them.

I request you to interfere and get my claims
    Hence desperately writing this complaint.

Looking forward for your response - Jeyakkumaran
