medi assist Id: [protected] emp. no: H2013RDG054 My sister Ms Vandana Baghotiya was hospitalized at Himgiri hospital Hyderabad and we have health insurance from Medi-assist. We paid the hospital bill at the time of discharge, our claim has been approved on 18th June 2014 but it has been almost 4 months, medi-assist has not reimbursed our claim, I have called 100's of time but they do not have any answer. Medi assist service has pathetic and worst service among others TPA's. You are requested to help us in this claim reimbursement process. Gireesh Baghotia Mb: [protected]

Dear Sir, I am a corporate employee and this complaint is with regards to my claim for my father's liver transplant surgery.I initiated cashless claim via hospital and the claim got rejected immediately.I called the customer executive(Mr.Arun) and he confirmed that the claim would be processed after receiving letter from hospital that reason for surgery is 'liver transplant'. I contacted Mediassist after a day to know the status and they have replied that claim is denied stating reason as 'alcohol'. when I took the policy, it was mentioned that all pre-existing aliments are covered. Here is the mediassist id: [protected] Policy No: 602200/46/14/[protected] Requesting justice in this case. Regards, Meenu

Dear sir/madam (Ranganadh & vijayawada opp:b.r.p. road manager) I don't know why this medi assist is dealing with these types of employer who scare of getting fined on them for the claim which they are looking for. FYI., the disease which you are saying "pre existing". Actually it was the years of marriage. I mean to say the marriage has been done before 3yrs. BTW you must go as per the rules but this is not fair. And its being very unfair to do like this which creating new problems in the claims. How are you working and giving trouble to the customers. As you said to talk with Mr. G.V.Rao. But he is telling the other story to apply for "ODBUDSMAN" As you guys giving trouble and telling us to complain to ODBUDSMAN. This is not fair. For a genuine case., you guys making it difficult and closing the file. I don't angry with your response. We have submitted the claim for MAID: [protected] and have received the Claim number on our mobile as 9919911. After following up for more than a month, there is no progress with this claim. The registered phone numbers dont work either, and we have been trying to reach to check the status. Is there a better way to help the aged, who are in real need to check their claim status.

I am also suffering the same problem with Medi Assist reimbursement claim process. From last 2 months my claim is under processing. When I call to their customer service they told me it is under processing, they demanded new documents everytime and at last they reject my claim. If they initially reject it, then I could save much money for claim formalities. I does not obtained claim amount but unnecessary spent Rs. 1000/- for postage printing etc.
So from my better experiences, I request every body don’t go for Medi Assist TPA.

My name is Madhu Keshava; working in Corporate Company since 2004. Earlier, our company was tied up with TTK Health Insurance and it was really good service we were getting and then the company had to tie up with Media Assist Health Insurance. My mother is a Neurology Patient. Every now and then, she suffers from continuous hiccups and vomiting. In the month of July, we had to admit her to nearby Sumathi Nursing Hospital where doctors tried their best to diagnose the reason for such issues and failed to find so; they confirmed she needs Psychological Treatment and the same was given. However, Medi Assist denied approving the expenditure. I had to take a loan from my family member and friends to cover up the expenditure. When checked with the Media Assist Customer Service and Hospital, they claim Medi Assist does not approve expenditure for Psychological diagnosis and treatment. After a week or so, we found some behavioral changes with my mother’s health and she fell down at home. We immediately rushed to Columbia Asia Referral Hospital where we were told there were the following issues: 01. Sub-acute Left Lateral Medullary Stroke 02. Severe Depression with acute Short Term Memory Loss 03. Left Fifth Metatarsal Base Fracture 04. Numbness in both the ties MRI Brain scan showed left lateral medullary infarct, was started on anti-platelets, statins with close monitoring of blood pressures. 2D ECHO seems to be normal with an injection; fraction of 60% while carotid Doppler showed no significant stenosis. Orthopedic consult was taken for left leg swelling, X-Ray done showed fracture of left fifth metatarsal base; crepe bandage was applied after the swelling reduced, she was advised to avoid weight bearing. Other relevant investigations were normal. Psychiatry consult was taken for her acute short term memory loss; she was diagnosed to have severe depression, counseled and prescribed antidepressants. Pre-authorization was sent by the Hospital and Medi Assist denied the request; which made me to contact them again. I was told by the Customer Service that the approval will not be given on Psychological Diagnosis. Doctor says, “Stroke is more of Neurology Diagnosis and not related with Psychological Issue”. I had to scan the doctor’s copy and fax it to Medi Assist; and had to make some 20-25 calls to get the initial amount approved and confirmed they will not approve 80% of the expenditure instead only 55%. Medi Assist has an article on “Standard Nomenclatures & Procedures for Critical Illnesses” which says: “Any cerebro-vascular incident producing permanent neurological sequelae. This includes infarction of brain tissue, thrombosis in an intracranial vessel, haemorrhage and embolisation from an extra-cranial source. Diagnosis has to be confirmed by a specialist medical practitioner and evidenced by typical clinical symptoms as well as typical findings in CT Scan or MRI of the brain. Evidence of permanent neurological deficit lasting for at least 3 months has to be produced.” If this is the case, why can’t they approve the complete 80% coverage the dependents are eligible for? I am in a position where I’ll have no option to pay the hospital bill if they ask me to do so at the time of discharge. Please help me and save my mother…!!!

This is regarding the Mediclaim policy (of my wife) 142000/34/12/01/00008384, with New India Assurance. I am holding the policy since Oct 2006. Last week, my wife had developed some problems for which we had seen the surgeon who advised surgery, and I proposed my mediclaim and cashless benefits. their hospital is authorised for cashless mediclaim. When they applied for the pre authorisation, there was a query put by the Medi Assist TPA Pvt ltd, (Query no 2967885), MA ID [protected]. The query was, kindly provide previous 2yr policy copies excluding current yr policy. SInce i am holding the policy with NIA since 2006, I dont have the copies of the previous year. When I called up the Medi assist Mumbai branch office the concerned person insisting the copies, when I told her I could not reproduce the copies, and was asking her regarding the above issues she hung up the phone. when i called back after much redials, and insisted to speak to the branch manager, they said she is not there then later told me she is busy in a meeting, after some time they told the concerned person went for lunch. I would like to know why the company dont keep my records, as I am with NIA for more than 6years. even though NIA changed the TPA from VIPUL to MEdiassist, its companies responsibilities to forward the records of the policy holders. Second issue is I was really upset and harrassed by the way the person on other side of the phone from Mediassist spoke to me, very rude behaviuour. Please do the needful and see to it that such TPA companies wont harass common people. Thankyou.

                          Dear Sir/Ma'am,
this is a complaint letter against MediAssist India Pvt. Ltd, a TPA Insurance company located in Andheri East, Mumbai.
Myself, Kanhaiya Maheshwary, underwent a surgery for Pilonidal Sinus on 30th April, 2013 at CritiCare Mutli Speciality Hospital, Juhu, Andheri West, Mumbai. A few days before the surgery, I had intimated the above mentioned insurance company with which I hold a MediClaim policy.
The officials from the above mentioned insurance company even visited the hospital to confirm all the details.

After my surgery, I submitted all my original documents and claimed for reimbursement. However, a week after filing the insurance claim, I received an email stating that my claim has been rejected since there's a waiting period for the condition for which I've been operated.
So here's my first question - If I had intimated the insurance company prior to my operation, why didn't they inform me that I cannot file a claim for the above mentioned condition?

Secondly, I had submitted a withdrawal claim in order to get back all the original hospital bills and documents since I have another mediclaim policy under which I want to claim. I had filed the withdrawal on 20th June, 2013 and was informed that I will receive my file within 8 days. It has been 15 days since then, and there's no answer from their side.
                          1. I call daily, but am informed that the file hasn't come.
                          2. Whenever I call, the executives cut the call even without listening to me.
                          3. The executives informed me that the file has been dumped in the godown. If the file is supposed to be given back to me, why is it dumped in the godown!?

My time for filing the claim under the second insurance policy is running out, and If I'm not able to submit my original papers in time, I will incur a loss of almost Rs. 50,000. All this will be due to the negligence by MediAssist India Pvt. Ltd.

                          And here are my details:
                          1. Claim Number: 2794442
                          2. Policy No. 131300/48/2013/19731

Also. Attaching herewith a screenshot copy of the email I had sent to MediAssist India for withdrawing my original documents.

Ive a terribly bad experience with Medi Assist which is supposed to be the worst company Ive even dealt with. Completely Unethical & unresponsive. They make your suffereings even worst when you needed them the most. This is in regard to my Medi assist no. [protected]. They took 48 hours of time wasting on undue queries & ultimately rejecting it on baseless reasons. Due to this I was not even able to avail my other insurence.

The one biggest mistake I ve made financially is to opt for this insurance scheme by Mediassist. I had a worst experience with them . I have submitted domicilliary claims twice and a hospitalization claim once , But I have not got claimed amount for any of the 3 claims. They are always looking for some or the other reason to reject the claim. I am not sure how useful this complaint will be. But I am sure that it is atleast going to help people who read reviews before selecting this company for health insurance. I am extremely disappointed by their service. The only thing they do rightly is deduction of premiums from my account every month.

I will list all the bad things that I noted about them

                              1. They have a very bad customer service team.
                              2. They don't receive calls at all.
                              3. They reject all the claims without giving proper reason.

I work for one of the companies of a big group(I shouldn' t tell the name publicly) in India. I am not sure why our group endorses this company when we already have a insurance division of our own. I am certainly planning to take this issue to the notice of the higher authorities in my company.

                                Dear Sir/Madam,
                                .
My friend Omkar Kulkarni was admitted to Aditya Birla Hospital, Pune with complaints of stomach pain. He was diagnosed and is fit to be discharged today. However the hospital TPA desk had sent the bill details to MEDI Assist insurance company for approval at 3.13 p.m today.. ... When we called the MEDI ASSIST people they are saying that they didn't receive the fax itself whereas the status of the fax was sent...... Our whole day was wasted in waiting for the approval from insurance company. Please take strict action on the insurance company as I observed that this is happening with many patients around here...

                                Thanks,
                                Deepak.
