Sub: - Failure to provide after sales Services.
Sir,
I had purchased Nokia Mobile of make 3110 classic from the authorized dealer M/s Total Recall, 18th June Road, Panaji, on payment of Rs.6, 900/- through my personal savings, so that I can get good quality mobile worthwhile to expenditure incurred with additional features like Camera, Video, Radio, Music player with extended memory etc. Basically the said mobile was purchased, so that I can enjoy my leisure time during long journey everyday. During first six months there was no problem to the set purchased, however on passage of time it created problems such as Camera on standby mode, hanging problems etc. These problems initially were taken care off by the authorized Nokia Care Centre at Ponda under warranty period and later on one occasion at M/s Comlink Synergies Pvt. Ltd., 3, Gomes Building, Opposite Hotel Delmon, Panaji Goa, Authorised Nokia care centre by payment of Rs.160/- plus Sales Tax as applicable .
About 15 days later subsequent upon the mobile shown to above service centre, it developed further problems and said model remained unlocked. Due to this problem I had produced the said mobile at the Authorized Nokia care centre as stated above. They opened the mobile before me and said that Joystick of the mobile is not working and hence the set will be repaired at their own level as the warranty period is expired. They further informed that an amount of Rs.380 plus Sales Tax as applicable will be charged on repairs and issued service sheet bearing No.[protected]/080929/28 dated 29/Sep/2008. Thereafter I had visited 2 to 3 times at the said Nokia care center but the mobile was not repaired by them. On 3rd October 2008, at 5.40 p.m. the office bearers of the Service centre gave me a call and informed that it is not possible to repair the said mobile as there is Short Circuit. On the same day I visited the Service Centre to collect my handset and requested them to give me the detail report on the defects occurred to the hand set. In this context the Office bearers informed me to come on the next day to collect the mobile and the report as the Manager was not available in the office on that day. Next day I went and spent nearly 45 minutes for Handset and the report and after reminding 2 to 3 times, the Manager came down and gave me the report. She took my signatures on the report before I read the contents on the same and returned the handset. I was surprised on reading the report wherein it had stated that the mobile was not repaired due to liquid damaged. The reason stated in the report is very silly as neither the office bearer/Technician nor myself had detected the liquid when the set was given for repairs at the initial stage, these facts were not mentioned on the service card sheet and only informed me that Joystick is not working. Secondly while giving telephonic message and before asking for report they had informed me that the said mobile can’t be repaired due to short circuit. Thirdly, there is no possibility of entering the liquid in the set as I had taken necessary precaution by covering the set in plastic as well as leather covers.
I was further surprised when I was switching on my mobile set it is observed that the set was not getting on. I was disappointed with this newly occurred additional problem as earlier problem was unsolved . Thus the very purpose of repairing the Handset at your Authorized Service Center was defeated despite of my personal efforts thereby causing monitory loss to the extent of Rs.7000/- and above.
Therefore, it is earnest request at your good self to look into the matter and repair the set at your level or otherwise replace it with alternate set. This request was made because set was damaged immediately after warranty period and your authorized Nokia care center is unable to repair the set.
In view of the above my intention is to get Mobile set repaired or otherwise replace because every company either electronic, mechanical etc. is having strong after sales service network in order to provide service to the defective instruments beyond its warranty period.
If my grievances remain unsolved, it will constrain me to take an appropriate action for redresal of my grievances and also to spread awareness campaign against the company amongst the General Public.
