I am Jasmeet Kaur Kohli, an account holder of Standard Chartered Bank in INDIA. I want to file a complaint and want to bring it to your kind attention since the same is a case of Fraud and wants an immediate action.

I received a message from the Bank on Sunday night i.e 7th August,2011 at around 11.00 p.m that there is an ATM Cash withdrawal of Rs. 19,459.73 and Rs. 1,216.35. But the fact is that, I have not done this particular transaction. My ATM debit card is with me only. I have never shared my passwords and PIN numbers with anyone. I filed the complaint there and then only but your server was down. The concerned customer care executive told me that he has blocked the card and filed the complaint regarding this. Further he said that, he is not able to take out the details from where this transaction has been done. I relied upon him and thought that my complaint has been registered. I again called Customer care at 2.00 A.M i.e very early morning on 8th August,2011, and i got to know that the complaint has not been registered yet. That was really shocking for me.

On 8th August in the morning itself at around 9.30 or so, i visited the Barakhamba Branch, New Delhi, INDIA, where i have my account. I filed a written complaint also with the Bank and showed them my ATM Debit Card that its there with me then how can some one withdraw money from my account. But an unusual thing which i get to know after seeing my account statement that some one has swapped my account towards purchases. The Bank's own records are not reconciled. The message is stating that it is an ATM cash withdrawal and Account Statement is saying that there is a purchase. It is quite surprising that Bank itself don't have answer that from where the money has been taken out. i filed a Police complaint too and the copy of the same is duly submitted with the Bank.

On 10th morning, when i called your customer care service center, I got to know about a new fact. They have written in the complaint that I have lost my ATM Debit card which is not at all true. Besides repetitive intimation, your customer care executive filed a wrong complaint. Wow, the customer is running after the Bank executives to know about the status of his/her complaint but he/she comes to know that the facts of the complaint have been modified as per their own convenience. great response i must say. What a service they are giving to the customers.
In the evening, i received a call from an executive towards a reply for an SMS which i send on 9th night at 11.50 p.m. But when i asked him to tell me the status of the investigation, he said its the internal matter and you cannot tell this to me. I am a customer, and I have a RIGHT TO INFORMATION about everything which is affecting me. I have lost my money because of your security problems then why should i suffer. I have the right to know what you people are investigating, what is the stage of investigation and everything which is related to that. When he refused, i told him clearly, I am gonna file a case with Consumer Court and he said openly and boldly that go ahead.

I just want your team to help me in taking out my money back which i have lost due to loose security of the Bank. Kindly take the complaint on an urgent note and help me in recovery of my money.
Kindly contact me on the below mentioned e-mail id. I will be highly obliged for your kind help.

    respected sit/madam

i have come to know today ( thru cutomer care #[protected]on 9.8.11) from CIBIL that there is a unpaid outstanding balance of Rs 218333 against credit card [protected] issued in my name.

i have checked and found that i have never pruchased any thing/good/service against above said card till date. Also am unaware of the amount of bills , items ,goods or service purchased against above said card.
Further i have never taken any type of loan from standard charted bank .

Kindly help me out as this is affecting my credit rating in CIBIL and i am not getting home loan.

Request you to please , sort out the issue ASAP.

Standard chartered bank issued me two credit cards (MASTER) bearing numbers [protected] and [protected] with limits Rs25000/-(Rs twenty-five thousand only) each on the year about 1994. On 04.03.2001 the balance about Rs 56000/- (Rs Fifty-six thousand only) has been settled by Rs36800/- (Rs thirty-six thousand only). The settled amount was accordingly paid over the bank counter with receipts. But surprisingly on 30.08.2002 a letter was issued to me by claiming Rs33075.18 (Rs thirty-three thousand sixty five and 18 paise only) and Rs 18875.48 (Rs eighteen thousand eight hundred seventy five and 48 paise only) as outstanding on date. On my letters dated 18.08.2002 and 20.09.2002, I have communicated the bank the fact that I had already paid the dues.
Also personally contacted authority of the bank issued me liquidated certificate timely. But now I have found that my name is in the Civil Consumer Credit report as a balance lying Rs 785439.00 (Rs Seven Lakhs Eighty Five thousand Four hundred Thirty nine) against myself. I strongly deny this record and balance against me because it is manipulated bank made figure. I have all sufficient documents in this regard. Therefore, I kindly request you to look into this matter so that my name is eliminated from the Civil Consumer Credit Report immediately.
i want quick solution. my case is very urgent. help me

              Sir/Mam,

I, bivas banik is an old a/c holder of your bank having th a/c no : [protected]. I observed that an amount of rs. 1654.50 was deducted from my a/c. When enquired, i was informed from the bank that day to day average transaction is being performed for minimum balance (rs. 25000/-) a/c maintenance.
Till date I was aware about the fact that a minimum balance of rs 25000 was to be kept as a residue in the a/c to avoid minimum balance maintaining charge. I was not informed about the new statistics of day to day average transaction for minimum balance (rs. 25000/-) a/c maintenance.
Thus as an old customer i request you to revise this amount (Rs.1654.50) to my bank a/c ( [protected]).
I will be great full to you if you do the needful.

                    Address: Gurgaon, Haryana

Standard Chartered Bank bought a loan portfolio from Amercan Express Bank (a far premier brand than their own) in mid-2008 under which a pool o[censored]nsecured loans were transferred to their asset base. I unfortunately got dragged into becoming (first and hopefully the last time) a Standard Chartered Bank customer. My unsecured loan for an original amount of INR 350,000 got transferred at INR 153,093 as it was in the middle of its overall tenor of 60 months (the loan was disbursed in April 2005).

All 60 post-dated cheques on this account were duly cleared with the exception of a few that were collected on representment/ in-cash as I changed jobs and my salary account changed accordingly. Due to these bounces some penal charges were accumulating on my account (which were mal-intentionally not recovered at the time of emi collection) along with penal interest. I paid the last emi on[protected] and assumed that since charges were neither recovered/ followed-up nor was any statement of account sent to my attention for these outstandings, the account would have been closed. Malicious bank officials/ systems, as they are designed to be, did not send any reminder, statement or made any calls to my attention 10 months after the date of closure, but chose to report this account as 'Written-Off' in my CIBIL. Add to that, they mal-intendedly did not report the measly balance of INR 4957 that was standing as unpaid but the whole INR 153,093 as 'Written Off'.

Upon receiving my CIBIL report, I discovered all these stinking acts and reached out for a resolution. Stomach this - it took them 2 weeks and 9 different 10 min calls from my side to get their collection department to locate my loan and call me back for a resolution. Then I commit to make a payment by noon of a day and they start asking for ridiculuous administrative documents such as "Please submit in writing that you are paying this amount for the said loan account" - they surely live in the dark ages. And when I create a document, sign it and hand over, the clerk has the audacity to turn around and say "Ah sorry this wasn't really required it seems". The cash payment counter is completely clueless on where to credit this payment (my account no. clearly written on the submission receipt). I call up the collection manager - a gentleman called 'Bharat Rawat' and his aide 'Puneet' - they are clueless themselves. Then somehow the payment is accepted and credited to the loan account.

I now request for a turnaround time for an NOC, I am asked to come between 1p-2p the next day to collect the same. This handover is done after a waiting period of 5 damn hours in their DLF office. Standard Chartered Clerks believe that they are the only ones doing a job - the rest of the world can wait in their unwelcoming reception that sports 2 rude guards. When the NOC is finally handed over, the reply to the question "You had committed 1pm, why handing over at 5:30p" is "This is my style, take it or leave it" All this has come to a customer with the ridiculous attitude of 'Bharat Rawat' and his aide 'Puneet'.

I guess Standard Chartered can't do much about this - this is what the brand really represents - 'GIVE OUT TREATMENT TO CUSTOMERS'.

My car loan was rejected due to written-off status in my CIBIL report against an old credit card account.
Logged on to www.cibil.com and obtained a latest copy of my CIBIL report.
Found that the written-off statement was against a company called "SHAHA" (I didn't know what that mean)
Called up CIBIL and found that the SHAHA means for a company called "M/s. Shaha Finlease Private Limited" and they deal with Standard Chartered Bank.
Called up Standard Chartered Bank to find out what is happenning. SCB said I have an outstanding of about 39,000/- against a credit card I had with SCB, SCB refused to provide any more information and advised to contact "SHAHA". I referred my archives for all the SCB statements and found that the actual outstanding principal amount was 2,700/- after further digging deep, I found that I had sent a request to cancel my card account in the month of Jan,2008 which was not adhered to causing this entire mess (I have the email still with me)
I refused to contact anyone except SCB for my credit card issue, SCB confirmed in an email that my account was sold to SHAHA and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it, I gave up and finally reluctantly agreed to contact SHAHA after failing with multiple attempts to get the required information from SCB.
It took me 3 week of daily calls to SHAHA to finally get to talk to someone on the other side.
He advised he will look into the matter and will help me settle the account for something lesser.
I ended up following up with him for about 2 more weeks with multiple calls and email in between and ended up talking to completely new person altogether at the end of the 2nd week.
Explained him the same story all over again who promised for a call back after 30 mins, finally someone called me and demanded for 15,000/-
I denied for paying anything more than 5,000/- (Not because I didn't have money) because I felt being cheated, I offered to pay Rs.5,000/- which I felt was decent enough for an outstanding principal of about 2,700/- for 3 years.
I reported this to SCB Nodal officers at Chennai and New Delhi via email and phone calls, nothing worked.
No positive response from Nodal officers either and they kept repeating the same thing to like a parrot (Contact SHAHA)
I received a call few days later from SHAHA asking what is that I want to do, he also made a statement "Dena toh aapko padega, nahi toh..pause"
SHAHA also threatened for further spoiling my CIBIL report if I don't adhere to their demands.
This was enough and I finally decided to take the Banking Ombudsman route.
I logged two separate complaints, one at Banking Ombudsman office Bangalore for the harassment and unacceptable demand for recovery amount and another one with Banking Ombudsman Channai for selling all my credentials to a non RBI authorized firm (I feel I am right).

I am still fighting both of these complaints individually.

I have spoken to RBI officers at New Delhi and am paying a visit tomorrow morning with a hope to meet someone who can help a frustrated Citizen.

While all the above is what has happened in the past three months with barely a day's gap for any communication in this regard, below are the documents I am in possession of, and also attaching few for the benefit of forum readers.

                          Address: Bangalore, Karnataka

i'd taken in HOME SAVER LOAN from SCB in 2006. At the time of taking loan i was told that i should deposit all my excess amount above the EMI amount, which will effectively reduce the principal outstanding and help reduce the interest cost and home loan tenure.

So i made the home saver account as my SALARY account as i do not invest the idle money all the time. So why not let it be parked in the home saver linked account. This will reduce the principal balance on a daily basis and i'll pay less interest on the loan.

So even though the home saver interest rate is actually 0.5-1% higher than the normal loan rate from the same bank, i opted for the home saver option thinking that i'll save interest. So last 5 years the bank had been sending me statement showing how parking excess deposit above the EMI amount had helped me reduce the interest cost and there by shown as "Interest saved" in the form of higher "Available Balance". My excess deposit is shown as "Current Balance".

So mathematically "Available Balance" = "Current Balance" + "Interest Saved". One important thing to note here is that bank does not give any current interest on the excess fund (in other bank it is about 3.5 - 4% on savings account).

So if my principal outstanding was 30 lakh in the first month of loan period and i had deposited 2 lakh then bank calculated the home loan interest on 30-2 = 28 lakh. This helped me save some interests which had been accumulating over the 5 years period. But i did not earn any current interest rate on 2 lakh, which i would have earned, if that amount would have been parked in other savings account, say in SBI.

This calculation is done on a daily basis and over the last 5 years period, i'd saved about 1.5 lakh interest savings. So when on Jan-2011 the net principal outstanding became ZERO and since i'd surplus "Available Balance" (it showed as CR. and not debit), the bank started debiting the EMI from the "Available Balance", which is nothing but "Current Balance" + "Interest Saved". So from Feb-2011 till May-2011 the entire "Interest Saved" amount of 1.5 lakh was wiped out. When i confronted with the bank that the principal outstanding was ZERO on Jan-2011 then my loan should have been closed and i should have been returned the entire "Available Balance", they are now telling the "Interest Saved" portion in "Available Balance" is not your money and it is only reference calculation because of your excess deposit. So while closing the loan this amount will be retained by the bank and only "Current Balance" amount will be returned.

I feel like being cheated here by the bank because :

                          1) I paid higher interest in home saver loan, which is 0.5 to 1% higher than any conventional home loan rate.

                          2) I did not earn any interest on my excess fund, which is say 3.5 - 4% in SBI.

                          3) Every day i'll have say 2-3 lakh cash balance in bank account which did not earn any interest. In addition, bank also wiped out the entire interest saving portion as well.

If i would have known that this way the interest saving amount would be adjusted from "Available Balance", month after month as EMI, when my net principal balance becomes ZERO then i would not have opted for this product. Now i am thinking of first approaching RBI ombudsman and if not resolved then may think of consumer case. I think SCB misleading the home saver customer with this type of product where in customer is paying higher interest than regular home loan product and also no interest rate is being paid on excess deposit fund, which other banks generally pay on current account @ 3.5-4%. I would have parked the excess fund in other savings account which would have earned 3.5-4%.

I want to know, is it OK for the bank to retain the interest saved amount. This home saver product was promoted as everything beneficial for the customer. Can you also let me know what is the beneficial to the bank because of this product. I think the benefit to the bank would be loss to the customer for sure. Is this product mis-sold and mis-leading as it is happening in ULIP insurance products

SBI's Housing Loan — Levying of Unusual Interest Rate

                          Sir,

I took Housing Loan from SBI vide HTL A/C No. [protected](1818) during Aug 2004 at 8.25% Floating interest rate. I decided & changed the interest rate to Fix (9%) during Nov 2004. I paid Rs. 8199/- to bank towards fee for changing the option. The bank on its own changed the rate to 9.50% during May 2006. I protested and took up the matter. They immediately reverted the rate to 9%.
Now again during Sep 2008, SBI's Zonal Office RASMECCC Bareilly wrote to me that they will be charging the interest at the rate of 12.75%. I should pay the outstanding at once & quit banking with SBI, if I am not ready to pay the interest @ 12.75%.
I once again protested and approached to bank authorities for miss leading. How can bank do this. I opted to pay more interest to bank when bank was charging less ( 8.25% to 9%) and also paid a handsome fee for the change. Now bank is asking to pay rate what is not being charged even by private bankers at present. I wrote to all concern authorities regarding this, even to chairman SBI. But till none of them has tried to resolve the matter. The Chairman's Secretariat has written to Lucknow Head Office twice under intimation to me to resolve the matter but they did not care. At last now I am planning to for legal concern for cheating & misleading by nationalized bank of India.

                          Sincerely yours

                          Hi Debashis,

I have the same product from StanC (home saver). Not sure I understand your query completely. However, whatever Interest earned on Currenct Balance goes towards Principal Payment and hence principal is repaid faster thus reducing loan tenor.

This is my understanding of the product. Hence one cannot be given Interest Saved as it has already been adjusted against principal, please correct if I am wrong.

Happy to discuss this further. Feel free to call at [protected]

                          Vipin
                          Hi Vipin,

i think we must understand about what the bank claims when promoting this product and what finally happens when the loan ends.

                          1) First of all, in this home saver we are paying higher interest rate than the plain Vanila (SCB's term in bank statement ) home loan, at least 0.5 to 1% higher.

                          2) You do not earn any interest on excess deposit, which would have normally accrued in current / savings accounts @ 3.5 to 4%

                          3) Finally you will end up paying the same interest amount, which you would have paid, if you would have taken a normal vanilla / conventional home loan at the same interest rate, as the bank will take away your interest saved amount over the loan tenure.

                          4) So where is the benefit to customer of taking this home saver loan, which the bank claims all the time during product promotion. The claim of "principal is repaid faster thus reducing loan tenor" is just a BRAIN WASH. The adjustment against PRINCIPAL is only for reference and a TRICK to customers, in REALITY they will take away the benefit of that principal adjustment by adjusting your interest saved amount as well when the principal outstanding becomes ZERO.

Finally it works like a conventional home loan but BIG DISADVANTAGE to customer is :

                          a) You have lost your interest on excess deposit
                          b) on top of that you have paid higher interest rate than conventional home loan, when you opted for this product.

So it is advisable NOT TO keep your excess deposit in this account. Better keep it in other account, where you will at least earn some interest.

Have you ever asked or thought, what is the BENEFIT to the bank, if everything is beneficial to customer as the bank claims at the time of taking this Home Saver Loan. Your loss is the real BENEFIT to the bank. The bank is cheating customers with this home saver product by making FALSE claim of saving on interest and reduction of tenure.

                          Debashis
The TRICK played by the bank by promoting this product can be very well known by the fact that even after one month, i've not received the response from bank when i pointed them out about the real loss to customers and where is the benefit to customers as they have been claiming all the time about this product.

I am planning to complain to RBI ombudsman there after will file a consumer case in court. Because i've been cheated of the 1.5 lakh interest benefit from the excess deposit above EMI.
                          Debashis,

Were you able to get anything by complaining to RBI and log a case in consumer court?

I guess I am also in the same situation as you but my loan tenure is still not completed and if they are not giving the interested on the money in the account to us then I can atleast move it other investments.

                          Thanks
                          Mahesh
                          Hi,
I will tell you my situation, i had almost the same amount as my loan outstanding parked in my current account. According to the agreement i signed with the bank, there is no pre closure penalty for home saver if the loan is closed after 5 years. Now when i approach the bank they say since July 2009 they have introduced preclosure penalty even for for after 5 years customers. Now for the BIG thing, the penalty is not just on the loan outstanding amount. The penalty is on the outstanding+interest saved amount. I really want to take this up. Guys lets make a forum for all SCB home saver account holders
Absolutely. SCB is a thug bank. They change the terms of the agreement at their own convenience. I have home saver loan account and gradually I funded it completely and saved on interest. Now they want to levy an annual fee of 1% on the supposed amount outstanding(not the actual amount outstanding, which is nil, since I have already funded the account). They are willing to waive the 1% fee if I shift to the normal home loan(EMI based) account. This is outright cheating. I have paid interest at a higher rate than the normal home loan rate and now that I have funded the account they want to recover the interest saved through a 1% fee. I am sure there are others, who are facing the same issue with the bank. I am willing to take this up in any forum/ombudsman/media. All help is welcome.
                          Mohan
                          Sir,

same think happens to me also. i waiting to collect certain documents from the bank to proceed further. also mail me if any progress in your case.

my email is id is [protected]@gmail.com
I had taken homw saver account past 3 years. And the since the last year they are charging me 14% interest rate. I have questioned to bank many times. But they are not responding in correct manner. Let me know what is the current interest rate for home saver accounts.
I have done a biggest mistake in chosing this account.
Also quide me if anyone had lodged such complaint and where.
                          Hi Debashis,

What was the original tenor of your loan? Did your loan get run off as per schedule, or earlier than schedule? and how much earlier?

Just opted to take HomeSaver - just want to know whether am making a mistake.

                            Hi,

This is to bring to your notice regarding the PATHETIC NEGLIGENT SERVICE provided by Standard Chartered Bank for an ONGOING ISSUE since 2005.

                            Issue Details:-

                            In 2005 :-

                            - A Sales rep, Mr. Sachin Kumar (M:[protected]), standing in front of my office (Flextronics Gurgaon) had a pre-approved card with my details & credentials on the card [NOT ACTIVATED]. He mentioned that our organization had some collaboration with standard chartered so all employees are privileged with the pre approved gold card. This NOT ACTIVATED CARD was handed over to me. (I never realized this was a part of CHEEP MARKETING STRATEGY)

KEEP THIS IS MIND THAT I NEVER APPLIED FOR ANY CREDIT CARD (So till that point I never submitted any document)

                            - On the verification call, they realized that the birth date mentioned in their database was incorrect; hence they blocked this card (Which was not activated) and promised the delivery of a DUPLICATE CARD/NEW CARD with correct details and asked me to send the Address Proof and DOB proof to them. > As this was My first time experience with credit card I was trapped in their cheep marketing strategy.

                            - On the call I had mentioned that the delivery address should be my residential address

                            - However, I NEVER RECIEVED THE DUPLICATE CARD

-I RECIEVED A CALL AFTER 15-20 DAYS ASKING "IF YOU ARE GETTING PETROL FILLED FOR Rs500/-". I CONFIRMED, IT WAS NOT ME USING THE CARD AS I HAVE NOT RECIEVED IT. The card should have been BLOCKED ideally; however standard chartered people did not bother taking any action.

                            - A month later I RECIEVED A BILL WITH AN AMOUNT OF Rs60,000 AND CHANGE, I CALLED STANDARD CHARTERED and INSTANTLY LODGED A COMPLAINT AS MY CARD WAS BEING USED BY SOMEONE ELSE. I REQUESTED AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS FRAUD.

                            - Asking for a CASE NUMBER, the representative said they don’t create case numbers, for further reference she asked me to refer her name which is "MEGHA/MEGH"

                            - Even after making so many complaints to this company, when I received ANOTHER BILL with an amount of 79787.31, THIS WAS REALLY ANNOYING

                            - On calling the customer care again on 16th Feb 2006, they confirmed case is already with the fraud investigation department, which made me bit relaxed and did not get further involved. Also, since I did not receive any bills further, I assumed the case is resolved.

                            - And moreover I had to shift to Bangalore for work…

                            QUESTIONS:-
WHY THE DUPLICATE CARD WAS DELIVERED IN ACTIVE STAT (READY TO USE)? This bank does not have answer.
WHY DID NOT THE AGENT GIVE ME CASE NUMBER? This bank does not have answer.
WHERE IS THE DELIVERY NOTE? (PROOF OF DELIIVERY) On my multiple requests so far they have never provided.
WHO SIGNED THE DELIVERY ACCEPTANCE? This bank does not have answer.
ISN'T THIS CRITICAL ENOUGH TO BE DELIVERED TO THE OWNER ITSELF? This bank does not have answer.

                            In 2009:-

                            - when my credit card application (with a different bank) was rejected, reason being my name is in the defaulter's list, I realized that NO ONE HAS WORKED ON MY CASE, IT IS STILL PENDING

                            - Went to Kormanagala (Bangalore) branch of standard chartered , they said they don’t handle credit card issues, however, the lady still sent an email with all the credit card number details to the relevant department with my current phone number, they promised a call back within 2 days, FOR ALMOST A MONTH I NEVER RECIEVED A CALLBACK.

                            - Calling again to the standard chartered people after 4 years, NO AGENT IS EMPATHETIC ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO THE CASE PATIENTLY.

                            - Every other day I had to call them, narrate my incident again and again every time I called and they promised a call back, in two days.

                            - Finally on Thursday i.e. "9th April 2009" I got a call back from a lady named KANIKA, WHO WAS NOT SURE WHY I WAS EXPECTING A CALL BACK, so again I had to narrate my whole incident. SHE WAS SHOUTING INSTEAD OF TALKING OR DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH ME, NOT WILLING TO LISTEN AND JUST BLAMING ME THAT I DID NOT FOLLOW UP WITH THE CASE. SO DID KANIKA MEAN THAT I NEED TO REMIND THE BANK GUYS YOU NEED TO WORK? This bank does not have answer.

                            - I had send her all the supporting documents on her FAX[protected], she confirmed that she had received the fax

                            - KANIKA promised me a call back on "10th April 2009", after not receiving her call when I called on her direct landline[protected] which she gave me, they kept the phone on hold and finally disconnected the call.

                            - SO STANDARD CHARTERED IS NOT READY TO HELP and NOT WILLING TO WORK
After around 1 hour I got a call from Kanika, who was again not trying to understand the issue, on my request the phone was handed over to her manager "Rashmi Mallik - Recovery Dept", I had to explain the issue again to her, initially they blame for not knowing the reference number for the call, I had to make a silent conference call to Support line just to prove that STANDARD CHARTERED DOES NOT PROVIDE REFERENCE NUMBERS, the agent who answered the call on "10th April 2009" was "Nandini Subramini".Finally they asked me to forward this case AGAIN to Fraud department, NOW HOW AM I GOING TO GET THE UPDATES, I WANT IT TO BE DONE ASAP SO MY NAME IS REMOVED FROM DEFAULTERS LIST. SO I DO NOT FACE ANYMORE HARRASMENT OF GETTING LOAN/NEW CREDIT CARD REJECTED.

The card details are mentioned below:

Primary Card: [protected] (This was handed over to me by Sachin Kumar agent standing at the office gate)
Duplicate card: [protected] (Never received this card) Card number mentioned on the bill.

Address on their record: C-7/ 26-27, sec 5, rohini, new delhi 110085. (Now it has changed to Bangalore address)
Landline phone on your record: 27047596
Mobile Phone no on your record: [protected]. (Now it has changed to Bangalore mobile number)

NOTE:- I HAD TO MOVE TO BANGALORE BECAUSE OF WORK, AND OPENINGTHE CASE HERE AS I DO NOT GET A CORRECT SOLUTION. MY UPDATED MOBILE PHONE NO: [protected].
looks like someone young got this card - he must be using a bike - because the petrol charges are too less for a car
He must have a girl friend because he has bought something from a jewels shop
He must be someone who likes to flaunt - he spent twice in paras ayurvdic slimming center.

You should have filed a police complaint long bank - now after 5 years looks difficult to track down that guy. Still you should consider that option.
See the card was in your name - and that means you are held responsible for the expenses on the card however since the charges are disputed but you did not file a police complaint it has become your responsibility.

Now 5 years down the line - stan chart must have already reported you as a defaulter in CIBIL so nothing much can be done there.

If I were you I would have asked stan chart to settle this account for some pennies like 5k or 10k. But before handing over a single penny get a settlement letter duly signed and stamped and pay the settlement amount in full in one shot.

The settlement will not do much good to your credit rating as it is still going to reflect as written off however stan chart will not call you again.

The written off status will remain on cibil report for next 7 years so keep that in mind, you can even leave the matter as it is for another few years - stan chart has already dubbed you as defaulter long back and there is nothing much they can do.

Should they bring up this case to courts you hold better weightage as you have already informed stan chart about the fraud

So either settle with pennies or keep mum there is nothing much stan chart can do, if recovery agents come to your door call the police and show them the door.
This posting seems to be 6 month old now. Hey, did you manage to see any positive update or close the issue?
These guys are just cheater, I am repenting doing business with them... The support service is so pathetic . same problem you will have to explain to 30 people evrytime they will ask the story from begining . and will make you so frustrated theat you will start crying..

I had an issue with credit card, and end up paying lot extra because of their issue.
They have reduced my cc limit to 35000 when i have unlimited and platinum cards on all the other banks. They have sent one sms saying they are sending some hotels add on card for X amount which i never wanted in the first place. When i ask them to cancel my card because i do not need it anymore, they say there is a 4000 rs cancellation fee plus interest for the lame hotel card fee they sent. I have not used a single transaction on that card for months. This is day light robbery. My only concern is this will lead to unnecessary ink on my clean credit history. I do not know what to do...any suggestions?
no option to give 0 rating to them? that's why need to give 1 :(

                                  Hi
I had applied for the Standard Chartered Bank credit card in last week of Apri'11l. As a routine process bank executives starts calling me for the same. I submitted the document in last week of april'11. I asked the executive that when will i get credit card , i was told within 21 days ,one week for confirmation and two weeks for actual processing. After one month i didn't get the card i called on phone banking number there executive told me that they will arrange a call back within 48hrs . Lots of 48hrs have been passed i never got a call back.I again inquire with phone banking executive they told me to mail on cards.[protected]@sc.com , till the date i am mailing on this mail id i only get auto response(we are inquiring and we will get back to you) . After lots of struggle some how i mange to get the phone number of SC employee who deal with the all credit card application form (GAURI [protected]). I called her several times and inform about the same . I was given feedback that they are not able to trace my application form . every time i called them then only they provided the feedback. She told me that there executive will come and meet me as i was not sure about the person who collected the form. Nobody came . Again i called her several times .Later in the evening (7-6-11) i got a call from her that she got my application form on monday (6-6-11)n some one suppose to provide me the same feedback.NO body called me .

Feed Back provided by SC bank executive (Gauri):-
My application form was there with them for one month ,according to them it my application was not proper. As per process if it is not proper they are suppose to send it to Chennai and from there they issue a letter to applicant . But these fellows of one of most reputed bank were sitting on it for 1 month. She told me that any one from her member will call me about the status.

Feed Back provided by SC bank executive (Gauri team member) :-
We cannot provide you a Credit card as i am working in a company which has less employees as per bank criteria . Irony is that one of my collague has 15 days before me for the same credit card and they issue him and they are giving this excuse to me . I told her that this is situation . There were no response from her.

This whole episode lasts for more than days .This is very wretched situation for the bank like standard chartered . I hope some one will take credible action against such people.

                                  V vaibhav

                                      Dear sir/ma'am,
I write to this institution to get answers of few basic questions that pose affect on all credit card holders.
                                      1. In case of a misuse on a card, when the card holder reports misuse and asks to block the card and raises dispute on the said transactions, the bank goes for an investigation (30 days long). What is the purpose of the investigation?
                                      2. When the customer has and provides the bank all the proofs (including FIR) that the transaction was not done by him and the merchant has clearly been negligent and has performed an illegitimate transaction, does the bank have a capacity to produce the case to VISA/MASTER? If yes, shouldn't the bank wait for investigation results from VISA/MASTER, before asking the customer to pay or closing the case, when case is about the negligence and hence an illegitimate transaction by merchant?
This is regarding the harassment I have been a subject to because of Standard Chartered Bank.
I had a Standard Chartered credit card (MASTERCARD), bearing account number '[protected]'.
There was a misuse that happened on my card and as per bank since the misuse happened before the card was blocked i am liable to pay for it. I did abide by banks decision and have done the payments but the question still remains: For a misuse is the card holder solely responsible? What is the liability of the merchant who accepted payment without following the guidelines? When i intimated the bank of the messages i had received, i was told that the transaction is yet not approved by the bank and hence it is not reflected in the system. I told them to NOT approve the transaction as i have not done it. I was told not to worry and if i have not done it i will not have to pay for it. Still the bank later approved the transactions instead of holding it as was instructed by card holder and asks me to pay for it. Is this fair??
I understand that the card was lost and as a owner I was suppose to take care of it. But the question is am i the only one at fault here?
When a merchant gets into an agreement with a provider bank, to enable him to accept card payments,
he also becomes liable to ensure certain security checks. If he is not following the security measures
what is the penalty imposed on him?
In my case Merchant accepted 4 transactions for 3 mobile phones (without questioning the user for why he wants to do that), did not match the signatures, did not take any id proof, isn't he breaking all the clauses of agreement he makes with the provider bank? Why is he not being penalised for his neglegence? I understand that standard chartered bank had to make payments back to MASTERCARD which had already paid merchant's provider bank, but knowing the case pretty well isn't it my banks responsibility to present the case to MASTERCARD which can send it to merchant's provider bank. The merchant has breached the law, why does he gets away with it? just because he is going to get the banks much more business than an individual like me can ever?
I would like to understand why did my bank go for an investigation, took a month, and said i have to
pay as the transactions were done before the card was blocked. At no point did i tell bank that the transactions were done after blocking the card. I called to block the card when i got first two messages and by the time i got to customer care executive 2 more messages had come (there were 4 transactions in less than 4 mins time and bank didnt block the transactions!) What exactly was my bank investigating on for a month?
In my understanding, in my case, the investigation should have been focussed to decide if i have done the
transaction or not. If not the proofs of the same should have been sent to MASTERCARD to send it further to merchant's provider bank. Proofs like no id being taken by mercahnt, signs on all the 4 charge slips not matching with each other and neither with the signatures on the card. But to my disappointment my bank was only committed to get more business from MASTERCARD and wanted to pay them back without even investigating at all in the card holders interest.
I would like to bring to your notice the following :
                                      1. When I receive a new credit card, the first point that is mentioned on the sheet it comes pasted on is "Please sign on the signature panel, on the reverse of your card immediately to prevent any possible misuse". I did just as was said. Disappointing, this security measure is just namesake. It did not prevent the misuse. If the banks have no capability or has no interest in practicing the rights they have to serve the purpose, why should it fool the customers/card holders by such an statement?
                                      2. When a merchant accepts a credit card for transaction, its his responsibility to match the customer's
signatures on the charge slips against those on the signature panel on the reverse of the card.
Attached is a scan of all 4 chargeslips "Chargeslips_Bills.pdf". I see that the signatures don't match AT
ALL!! Even the 4 transaction slips, the signatures are not identical!
                                      3. The merchant who is accepting a credit card for a transaction of more than INR 10,000/- is supposed to
ask for a government ID from the customer and should keep a copy of the same for the authenticity of
the Credit Card user. I have learned this with my experience while shopping at reputed merchants. This
                                      was also NOT DONE!!
                                      4. The merchant did try and have some information of the customer by making him fill the Customer Data form. Scan is attached herewith "Chargeslips_Bills.pdf'. The address does not make any sense, the mobile number is a hoax, there is no e-mail address..

                                      5. The merchant's premises had a CCTV system installed, which was SWITCHED OFF (out of order as stated by the merchant) when the transaction was done.

                                      6. I had filed an FIR for the same Because of the FIR, the case is with the Police now. Neither the Police, nor the Court of Law has proved that I am liable to make the payments for these transactions. How has Standard Chartered concluded already that I am liable to pay?

I hope the ConsumerComplaints forum can help me in this case as I have suffered a huge loss because of it and the banks behavior/policies are totally not justified.

                                      Thanks,
                                      Gaurav Banyal,

                                        Hi,

I have a credit card of manhattan bank. They had provided me card in the year 2010. At the time of filling application form there representative told me that it is life time free but later i came to know that yearly fees i have to pay for this card. Now they are charging late fees rather then not giving the solution for that. Now I want to disclose the credit card. Please help for the same.

                                        Regards,
                                        Achal Krishan
